Abstract:Abstract Different combinations of monovalent and trivalent A-cations in high-entropy perovskite oxides (HEPOs) were investigated. The multicomponent (A′ 0.2 A′′ 0.2 Ba 0.2 Sr 0.2 Ca 0.2 )TiO 3 (A′ = Na + , K + , A′′ = Bi 3+ , La 3+ ) perovskite compounds were successfully synthesized by solid-state reaction method persisting average cubic perovskite phase. The trivalent cation exhibited distinct effects on local structure, dielectric properties and relaxor ferroelectric behavior. Highly dense ceramics (> 95%), high dielectric constant (~ 3000), low dielectric loss (~ 0.1), and relaxor ferroelectric characteristics were obtained in the compound containing Bi 3+ . The La 3+ containing compounds revealed lower dielectric constant, higher dielectric loss and linear dielectric behavior. The effect of monovalent cation on the dielectric properties was minimal. However, it affected relaxor ferroelectric behavior at elevated temperatures and conduction behavior at high temperatures. The (K 0.2 Bi 0.2 Ba 0.2 Sr 0.2 Ca 0.2 )TiO 3 ceramic maintained the relaxor ferroelectric behavior with low P REM at high temperatures suggesting more stable relaxor ferroelectric characteristics than that of the (Na 0.2 Bi 0.2 Ba 0.2 Sr 0.2 Ca 0.2 )TiO 3 . Moreover, between these two compounds, the homogeneous electrical characteristics could be obtained from the compound consisting of K + and Bi + at A-site. This study suggests that tuning the chemical composition, particularly choosing appropriate combination of mono/trivalent cations in high entropy perovskite oxides, could be the effective approach to develop high-performance relaxor ferroelectrics with the desired properties.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper aims to study the effects of different combinations of monovalent and trivalent A-site ions in high-entropy perovskite oxides (HEPOs) and to explore how these effects influence the material's structure, dielectric properties, ferroelectric properties, and energy storage characteristics. Specifically, the paper synthesized various combinations of monovalent (Na+ or K+) and trivalent (Bi3+ or La3+) A-site ions in (A′0.2A″0.2Ba0.2Sr0.2Ca0.2)TiO3 high-entropy perovskite oxides using the solid-state reaction method. The study found: 1. **Structural Characteristics**: Compounds containing Bi3+ formed a stable cubic phase, while those containing La3+ showed a tendency to transition from a cubic phase to a tetragonal phase. 2. **Dielectric Properties**: Compounds containing Bi3+ exhibited a higher dielectric constant (around 3000) and lower dielectric loss (around 0.1), demonstrating good relaxor ferroelectric behavior. In contrast, compounds containing La3+ showed a lower dielectric constant and higher dielectric loss, without significant relaxor ferroelectric behavior. 3. **Ferroelectric Behavior and Energy Storage Characteristics**: Compounds containing Bi3+ (especially (K0.2Bi0.2Ba0.2Sr0.2Ca0.2)TiO3) displayed better relaxor ferroelectric characteristics, with higher maximum polarization (PMAX) and lower remnant polarization (PREM). Additionally, they maintained a lower PREM value at high temperatures, showing more stable relaxor ferroelectric characteristics compared to (Na0.2Bi0.2Ba0.2Sr0.2Ca0.2)TiO3. Compounds containing La3+ exhibited linear dielectric behavior with lower energy storage density. In summary, by adjusting the chemical composition, particularly by selecting appropriate combinations of monovalent/trivalent ions, high-performance relaxor ferroelectric materials with desired properties can be effectively developed.
