Abstract:We define quantum automorphisms and isomorphisms of Hadamard matrices. We show that every Hadamard matrix of size $N\ge 4$ has quantum symmetries and that all Hadamard matrices of a fixed size are mutually quantum isomorphic. These results pass also to the corresponding Hadamard graphs. We also define quantum Hadamard matrices acting on quantum spaces and bring an example thereof over matrix algebras.

Abstract:Symmetries in a Hamiltonian play an important role in quantum physics because they correspond directly with conserved quantities of the related system. In this paper, we propose quantum algorithms capable of testing whether a Hamiltonian exhibits symmetry with respect to a group. We demonstrate that familiar expressions of Hamiltonian symmetry in quantum mechanics correspond directly with the acceptance probabilities of our algorithms. We execute one of our symmetry-testing algorithms on existing quantum computers for simple examples of both symmetric and asymmetric cases.

Quantum loop groups for symmetric Cartan matrices

Abstract:We introduce a quantum loop group associated to a general symmetric Cartan matrix, by imposing just enough relations between the usual generators $\{e_{i,k}, f_{i,k}\}_{i \in I, k \in \mathbb{Z}}$ in order for the natural Hopf pairing between the positive and negative halves of the quantum loop group to be perfect. As an application, we describe the localized K-theoretic Hall algebra of any quiver without loops, endowed with a particularly important $\mathbb{C}^*$ action.

Abstract:Recently, the work on quantum automorphism groups of graphs has seen renewed progress, which we expand in this paper. Quantum symmetry is a richer notion of symmetry than the classical symmetries of a graph. In general, it is non-trivial to decide whether a given graph does have quantum symmetries or not. For vertex-transitive graphs, the quantum symmetries have already been determined in earlier work on up to 11 and on 13 vertices. This paper fills the gap by determining for all vertex-transitive graphs on 12 vertices, whether they have quantum symmetries and for most of these graphs we also give their quantum automorphism group explicitly.

Abstract:We develop a $\mathtt{q}$-analogue of the theory of conjugation equivariant $\mathcal D$-modules on a complex reductive group $G$. In particular, we define quantum Hotta-Kashiwara modules and compute their endomorphism algebras. We use the Schur-Weyl functor of the second author, and develop tools from the corresponding double affine Hecke algebra to study this category in the cases $G=GL_N$ and $SL_N$. Our results also have an interpretation in skein theory (explored further in a sequel paper), namely a computation of the $GL_N$ and $SL_N$-skein algebra of the 2-torus.

Revealing symmetries in quantum computing for many-body systems

Abstract:We develop a method to deduce the symmetry properties of many-body Hamiltonians when they are prepared in Jordan-Wigner form in which they can act on multi-qubit states. Symmetries, such as point-group symmetries in molecules, are apparent in the standard second quantized form of the Hamiltonian. They are, however, masked when the Hamiltonian is translated into a Pauli matrix representation required for its operation on qubits. To reveal these symmetries we prove a general theorem that provides a straightforward method to calculate the transformation of Pauli tensor strings under symmetry operations. They are a subgroup of the Clifford group transformations and induce a corresponding group representation inside the symplectic matrices. We finally give a simplified derivation of an affine qubit encoding scheme which allows for the removal of qubits due to Boolean symmetries and thus reduces effort in quantum computations for many-body systems.

Abstract:In this paper we disprove the Haagerup statement that all complex Hadamard matrices of order five are equivalent with the Fourier matrix $F_5$ by constructing circulant matrices that lead to new Hadamard matrices. An important item is the construction of new mutually unbiased bases that are a basic concept of quantum theory and play an essential role in quantum tomography, quantum cryptografy, teleportation, construction of dense coding schemes, classical signal proccesing, etc.

Abstract:The authors introduce a pair of canonical-conjugate q-deformed operators D, X and discuss the relations between the deformed operators D, X and q-series. The realizations of some Lie symmetries, Heisenberg and quantum Heisenberg algebras are given for the operators D and X. They show that the q-analogous Hermite polynomials are representations of Heisenberg and quantum Heisenberg algebras realized in this way. When q is a root of unity, the properties of the q-analogous Hermite polynomials are also discussed.

Abstract:Abstract Finding a Hadamard matrix (H-matrix) among all possible binary matrices of corresponding order is a hard problem that can be solved by a quantum computer. Due to the limitation on the number of qubits and connections in current quantum processors, only low order H-matrix search of orders 2 and 4 were implementable by previous method. In this paper, we show that by adopting classical searching techniques of the H-matrices, we can formulate new quantum computing methods for finding higher order ones. We present some results of finding H-matrices of order up to more than one hundred and a prototypical experiment of the classical-quantum resource balancing method that yields a 92-order H-matrix previously found by Jet Propulsion Laboratory researchers in 1961 using a mainframe computer. Since the exactness of the solutions can be verified by an orthogonality test performed in polynomial time; which is untypical for optimization of hard problems, the proposed method can potentially be used for demonstrating practical quantum supremacy in the near future.

Abstract:The theory of groups has a twofold symmetry, sending a group to its opposite. Groups invariant under the symmetry are abelian. The theory of quasigroups has a richer, sixfold symmetry, obtained by permuting the multiplication with its two divisions. The Sixfold Way identifies the various classes of quasigroups which are invariant under the respective subgroups of the symmetry group of the theory. Quantum quasigroups provide a self-dual framework to unify the study of quasigroups and Hopf algebras. The goal of this paper is to classify the symmetry classes of quantum quasigroups. Corresponding to the Sixfold Way for classical quasigroups, we are able to identify a Sevenfold Way for general classes exhibiting a symmetry, and initiate a study of a fuller symmetry which holds for linear quantum quasigroups.

Abstract:The algebraic formulation of discrete $P$ and $T$ space-time symmetries in terms of the Dirac algebra is shown to be flawed. This is corrected by relating these symmetries to fermion quantum numbers defined by a $Cl_{3,3}$ sub-algebra of the $Cl_{7,7}$ Clifford Unification algebra. A new {\it Conservation Law} is formulated to the effect that fermion decays and interactions conserve all seven quantum numbers defined by $Cl_{7,7}$. This can be applied in the design of high energy experiments and the qualitative interpretation of their results.

Abstract:Hadamard diagonalizable graphs are undirected graphs for which the corresponding Laplacian is diagonalizable by a Hadamard matrix. Such graphs have been studied in the context of quantum state transfer. Recently, the concept of a weak Hadamard matrix was introduced: a $\{-1,0, 1\}$-matrix $P$ such that $PP^T$ is tridiagonal, as well as the concept of weakly Hadamard diagonalizable graphs. We therefore naturally explore quantum state transfer in these generalized Hadamards. Given the infancy of the topic, we provide numerous properties and constructions of weak Hadamard matrices and weakly Hadamard diagonalizable graphs in order to better understand them.

Abstract:A quaternionic Hadamard matrix (QHM) of order n is an matrix H with non-zero entries in the quaternions such that , where and denote the identity matrix and the conjugate-transpose of H , respectively. A QHM is dephased if all the entries in its first row and first column are 1, and it is non-commutative if its entries generate a non-commutative group. The aim of our work is to provide new constructions of infinitely many (non-commutative dephased) QHMs; such matrices are used by Farkas et al. (IEEE Trans Inform Theory 69(6):3814–3824, 2023) to produce mutually unbiased measurements.

Abstract:We will exhibit a group of symmetries of the simply-laced quantum connections, generalising the quantum/Howe duality relating KZ and the Casimir connection. These symmetries arise as a quantisation of the classical symmetries of the simply-laced isomonodromy systems, which in turn generalise the Harnad duality. The quantisation of the classical symmetries involves constructing the quantum Hamiltonian reduction of the representation variety of any simply-laced quiver, both in filtered and in deformation quantisation.

The exact quantum chromatic number of Hadamard graphs

Abstract:We compute the exact value of the quantum chromatic numbers of Hadamard graphs of order $n=2^N$ for $N$ a multiple of $4$ using the upper bound derived by Avis, Hasegawa, Kikuchi, and Sasaki, as well as an application of the Hoffman-like lower bound of Elphick and Wocjan that was generalized by Ganesan for quantum graphs. As opposed to prior computations for the lower bound, our approach uses Ito's results on conjugacy class graphs allowing us to also find bounds on the quantum chromatic numbers of products of Hadamard graphs. In particular, we also compute the exact quantum chromatic number of the categorical product of Hadamard graphs.

Abstract:There is a surge of research devoted to the formalism and physical manifestations of non-Lorentzian kinematical symmetries, which focuses especially on the ones associated with the Galilei and Carroll relativistic limits (the speed of light taken to infinity or to zero, respectively). The investigations have also been extended to quantum deformations of the Carrollian and Galilean symmetries, in the sense of (quantum) Hopf algebras. The case of 2+1 dimensions is particularly worth to study due to both the mathematical nature of the corresponding (classical) theory of gravity, and the recently finalized classification of all quantum-deformed algebras of spacetime isometries. Consequently, the list of all quantum deformations of (anti-)de Sitter-Carroll algebra is immediately provided by its well-known isomorphism with either Poincaré or Euclidean algebra. Quantum contractions from the (anti-)de Sitter to (anti-)de Sitter-Carroll classification allow to almost completely recover the latter. One may therefore conjecture that the analogous contractions from the (anti-)de Sitter to (anti-)de Sitter-Galilei r -matrices provide (almost) all coboundary deformations of (anti-)de Sitter-Galilei algebra. This scheme is complemented by deriving (Carrollian and Galilean) quantum contractions of deformations of Poincaré algebra, leading to coboundary deformations of Carroll and Galilei algebras.

Multi-Unitary Complex Hadamard Matrices

Abstract:We analyze the set of real and complex Hadamard matrices with additional symmetry constrains. In particular, we link the problem of existence of maximally entangled multipartite states of $2k$ subsystems with $d$ levels each to the set of complex Hadamard matrices of order $N=d^k$. To this end, we investigate possible subsets of such matrices which are, dual, strongly dual ($H=H^{\rm R}$ or $H=H^{\rm\Gamma}$), two-unitary ($H^R$ and $H^{\Gamma}$ are unitary), or $k$-unitary. Here $X^{\rm R}$ denotes reshuffling of a matrix $X$ describing a bipartite system, and $X^{\rm \Gamma}$ its partial transpose. Such matrices find several applications in quantum many-body theory, tensor networks and classification of multipartite quantum entanglement and imply a broad class of analytically solvable quantum models in $1+1$ dimensions.
