Abstract:We have considered the interaction of the subharmonic light modes with a three-level atom. We have found that the effect of this interaction is to decrease the quadrature squeezing and the mean photon number of the two-mode cavity light.

Abstract:The system of a three-level atom in the Xi configuration coupled to two quantized field modes with arbitrary detuning and density-dependent multiphoton interaction is studied by dynamical algebraic method. With the help of an su(3) algebraic structure, we diagonalize the Hamiltonian by making use of unitary transformations and obtain the eigenvalues, eigenstates and time evolution operator for the system. Based on this su(3) structure, we also show that the system of a three-level atom in the Xi configuration can be exactly transformed to an effective two-level Hamiltonian by an unitary transformation. Finally, we show that there exist an su(N) algebraic structure in the system of a N-level atom interacting with N-1 field modes.

Abstract:The dynamics of an atom of three levels in configuration interacting with a quantized field of two modes in a cavity is studied within the rotating wave approximation by considering experimental values of accessible hyperfine levels of alkali atoms. The Hamiltonian model is constructed on the basis of the direct product of the atomic states with Fock states of light. This simplified basis allows us to generalize the state of light to any quantum field. The interaction term of the Hamiltonian restricts the system to a 3D Hilbert space. The system's time evolution results show some similarities with the effective two-level system, such as the presence of collapses and revivals and the atom-field entanglement. By an analysis of the statistics of the photons, we show that when the three-level atom is interacting with a coherent field of two modes, it is possible to control experimentally the statistics of the field to be super-Poissonian or sub-Poissonian by the choice of the initial atomic state.

Abstract:We investigate the entanglement of a three-level atom in Λ configuration interacting with two quantized field modes by using logarithmic negativity. Then, we study the relationship of the atomic coherence and the entanglement between two fields which are initially prepared in vacuum or thermal states. We find that if the two fields are prepared in thermal states,the atomic coherence can induce the entanglement between two thermal fields. However, there is no coherence-induced entanglement between two vacuum fields.

Abstract:We examine the dynamics of evolution for an ensemble of three-level Λ atoms localized in a coupled cavity. In this scheme, when many atoms interact with one of the cavities, we observe Rabi oscillations between an atom and the other cavity. We show strong coupling between the ensemble and cavity is not necessary. The effective coupling can be improved by increasing the number of atoms. When the amplitude of the classical field is not equal to the photon hopping rate, for zero detunings, we achieve resonance and observe oscillations. The excited state of the atoms in one cavity may be eliminated hence suppressing atomic spontaneous emissions with an increase in the number of atoms. The optimal process range of hopping rate and classical field amplitude are found to optimize performance for a given parametric condition.

Abstract:We have considered the interaction of subharmonic light modes with a three-level atom in a closed cavity coupled to a vacuum reservoir. We carry out analysis by normally ordering the vacuum reservoir noise operators. It so happens that there is perfect quadrature squeezing under certain conditions.

Abstract:We discuss quantum interference phenomena in a system consisting of a laser driven three-level ladder-type emitter possessing orthogonal transition dipoles and embedded in a leaking optical resonator. The cavity mean-photon number vanishes due to the destructive nature of the interference phenomena. The effect occurs for some particular parameter regimes that were identified. Abstract:We investigate effects of a classical external field and the initial state of the field on the nonlinear interaction of a Λ-type three-level atom with the two-mode field through the Raman type interaction. Appropriate canonical transforms are performed for atomic states. The analytic solution to the model is obtained, using the Schrödinger differential equation. The wave function is obtained under specific initial conditions of the atom and field. The effect of a classical external field and the initial state of the field on the population occupations, the squeezing phenomenon, and the atomic emission spectrum are studied. The collapse–revival phenomena are affected by the presence of the classical field. Increasing the activation of the role of the initial state of the field improves the phenomena of collapses and revivals. The squeezing intervals decrease with increase in the classical field effect. The squeezing intervals increase with decrease of the parameter of the initial state of the field. The maximum values of the emission spectrum are improved after taking into account the classical field. In addition, the peaks significantly decrease after reducing the influence of both the bandwidth of the filter and the interaction time.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the generation of entangled light via collectively interacting three-level cascade atoms in a two-mode cavity. It is found that the atomic collectivity can effectively increase the strength of the frequency down-conversion process in the system and lead to the significant enhancement of the entanglement between the two cavity modes, in comparison to the case of independent atoms.

Abstract:The interaction of a four-level atom consisting of one excited state, two upper levels and one ground state with two coherent fields is considered. We use one field to drive the transition between the excited state and the ground state, and simultaneously apply another field to couple the ground state to the upper-level doublet. We find that when the dipole moments between the upper doublet and the ground state are parallel the central Linewidth of resonance fluorescence spectrum of the driven transition can be much narrower than both the linewidth of spontaneous emission of the excited state and of the upper doublet due to quantum interference between two decay pathways from the upper levels to the ground state of the atom.

Abstract:Amplitude-squared squeezing of the radiation field is studied in interaction of a single mode of a cavity field with a multilevel atom. It is found that the squeezing appears only in a short time region when the number of atomic levels is larger than two and the influence of the atomic level number on the squeezing is non-linear.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a general formalism for the theory of a two two-level atoms interacting with a single-mode cavity field. The intensity-dependent coupling regime, atom–atom interaction, dipole–dipole interaction (DDI), and Kerr-like medium are considered. Also, the multiphoton processes and the detuning parameters are taken into account. The wave function of the proposed model is obtained analytically when the atoms are initially prepared in their excited states and the field is in a coherent state. The temporal evolution of the von Neumann entropy and the average photon number in the cavity field in the absence and presence of intensity-dependent coupling regime are demonstrated. We focus on the effect of the nonlinear interaction of a Kerr-like medium and the DDI. The results illustrate that these parameters have a significant impact on the generation and preservation of the entanglement between atoms and the field. Also, there is a relationship between the collapse-revival phenomenon and entanglement, as we will see in detail.

Abstract:We analyse the dynamics generated by the anti-Jaynes–Cummings (AJC) Hamiltonian when a two-level atom in an initial atomic ground state couples to a single mode of squeezed coherent light and provide a juxtaposition with the Jaynes–Cummings (JC) interaction for the same initial atom–field states. In the AJC resonant atom–field interaction condition, we noted robust anti-bunching of the squeezed coherent cavity field mode within regions of strong coupling of the atom and the squeezed coherent cavity field mode. In addition, bunching of the field mode occurs when frequency detuning present in the sum frequency is raised while still in the strong coupling region. However, the field mode in the corresponding JC process still displays an immutable anti-bunching. This marked difference is driven by a non-vanishing frequency detuning parameter present during the AJC process. Further, clear enhancement of squeezing effect manifested by an increase in the degree of mixedness and ringing revivals triggered by increase of the squeeze parameter, frequency detuning and sum frequency is observed. Despite similarity in pattern of the coextensive atomic population inversion curves at resonance, the AJC process provides a longer quiescent phase, of atomic population inversion. This feature changes at the respective off-resonance conditions, where at a specified squeeze parameter, the AJC, JC processes have equal revival time.

Abstract:By founding multiphoton Janes-Cumming model of a two-level atom interacting with photon-added coherent light,the atomic inversion is studied with using the technique of numerical simulation when the photon-added number m changes(m≤2).And the squeezing effect of two quadrature components of the atomic dipole is discussed.The result shows that the revival-collapse phenomenon appearing in the evolution of atomic inversion presents periodicity with the number m increasing;and the squeezing phenomena of atomic dipole moment have been generated when m=1,2.

Abstract:The Hamiltonian operator of a system of single-mode light field interacting with Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) of two-level atoms is discussed in terms of the lattice-liquid model. It is indicated that the contribution of the interaction between atoms to the Hamiltonian was irrationally overestimated in the literature, so the Hamiltonian operator is improved in the present paper. Based on the improved Hamiltonian, the equations of motion of the photon and atomic operators are derived analytically. The relevant parameters in the model are estimated in connection with the BEC experimental conditions. The influence of the interaction between atoms in the BEC on the squeezing of light field and the atomic lasers is studied. The results show that the dependence of squeezing factor with atom number in BEC is different from that given in literature. and the fluctuations of two quadrature components of light evolve periodically with cosine law and the fluctuations of two quadrature components of the atomic laser can be squeezed.

Abstract:We study the quantum interference between the excitation pathways in a three-level $\Lambda$-type atom interacting with two short laser pulse trains under the conditions of electromagnetically induced transparency. The probability amplitude equations which describe the interaction of a three-level $\Lambda$-type atom with two laser pulse trains are numerically solved. We derive analytical expressions for the population of the upper excited state for resonant laser pulse trains with a rectangular temporal profile. By varying the parameters of the laser pulse trains such as area of a single pulse, detuning, repetition period, and number of individual pulses, we analyze the quantum interference between the excitation pathways in terms of the upper excited state population.

Optimization of two-photon absorption for three-level atom

Abstract:This work discusses the problem of optimal excitation of a three-level atom of ladder-configuration by light in the two-photon state and coherent light carrying an average of two photons. The applied atom-light interaction model is based on the Wigner-Weisskopf approximation. We characterize the properties of the optimal two-photon state that excites an atom perfectly, i.e. with probability equal to one: We find that the spectro-temporal shape of the optimal state of light is determined by the lifetimes of the atomic states, with the degree of photonic entanglement in the optimal state depends on the lifetime ratio. In consequence, two distinct interaction regimes can be identified in which the entanglement of the input state of light has qualitatively different impact. As the optimal states may be challenging to prepare in general, we compare the results with those obtained for photon pairs of selected experimentally-relevant pulse shapes. As these shapes are optimized for maximal atomic excitation probability, the results can be interpreted in terms of the overlap between the optimal and investigated pulse shapes.
