Abstract:By using the saddle point theorem, some new existence theorems are obtained for second-order Hamiltonian systems with impulsive effects in the cases when the gradient of the nonlinearity grows sublinearly and grows linearly respectively. Our results generalize some existing results and our conditions on the potential are rather relaxed.

Abstract:For the 2+1 dimensional three-wave equation, by using the known nonlinear constraints from 2+1 dimensions to 1+1 dimensions, we reduce it further to 0+1 dimensional (finite dimensional) Hamiltonian systems with constraints of Neumann type. These Hamiltonian systems are proved to be Lionville integrable by finding a full set of involutive conserved integrals and proving their functional independence. Moreover, almost-periodic solutions of the 2+1 dimensional three-wave equation are obtained by solving these Hamiltonian systems explicitly.

Abstract:We consider the following diffusion system: {∂tu−△xu+b(t,x)∇xu+V(x)u=Hv(t,x,u,v),−∂tv−△xv+b(t,x)∇xv+V(x)v=Hu(t,x,u,v)∀(t,x)∈R×RN, which is an unbounded Hamiltonian system in L2(R×RN,R2m), z:=(u,v):R×RN→Rm×Rm, b∈C(R×RN,RN), V∈C(RN,R) and H∈C1(R×RN×R2m,R). Suppose that H,b and V depend periodically on t and x, and that H(t,x,z) is superquadratic in z as |z|→∞. Without a symmetry assumption on H, we establish the existence of infinitely many geometrically distinct solutions via a variational approach.

Abstract:In this paper we study the existence of nontrivial 2π-periodic solutions of asymptotically linear Hamiltonian systems. We consider the case of resonance both at zero and at infinity, and we permit time-dependent asymptotic matrices. Our main tools are an infinite dimensional cohomology theory and a corresponding Morse theory recently constructed by W. Kryszewski and the first author. We develop a method to compute the new critical groups.

Abstract:We are concerned with the existence and multiplicity of nontrivial time periodic viscosity solutions to partial differential tw(x, t) + H(x, partial differential xw(x, t), w(x, t)) = 0, (x, t) E S x [0, +oo), where S is the unit circle and H = H(x, p, u) satisfies Tonelli conditions with respect to the argument p and is strictly decreasing in the argument u. We also study the long time behavior of viscosity solutions of the Cauchy problem for the above contact Hamilton-Jacobi equation. It is shown that for a class of initial data the corresponding viscosity solutions converge to asymptotic time periodic viscosity solutions. As an application of the existence result we analyze a bifurcation phenomenon for partial differential tw(x, t) + H(x, partial differential xw(x, t), lambda w(x, t)) = 0 where lambda is a parameter.(c) 2023 Elsevier Masson SAS.
