Abstract:We prove a generalization of Harish-Chandra's character orthogonality relations for discrete series to arbitrary admissible representations for real reductive Lie groups. This result is an analogue of a conjecture by Kazhdan for p-adic reductive groups proved by Bezrukavnikov and by Schneider and Stuhler.

Abstract:Ado's Theorem had been extended to principal ideal domains independently by Churkin and Weigel. They demonstrated that if $R$ is a principal ideal domain of characteristic zero and $\mathfrak{L}$ is a Lie algebra over $R$ which is also a free $R$-module of finite rank, then $\mathfrak{L}$ admits a finite faithful Lie algebra representation over $R$. We present a quantitative proof of this result, providing explicit bounds on the degree of the Lie algebra representations in terms of the rank of the free module. To achieve it, we generalise an established embedding theorem for complex Lie algebras: any Lie algebra as above embeds within a larger Lie algebra that decomposes as the direct sum of its nilpotent radical and another subalgebra.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduced the notion of Hom-Lie antialgebras. The representations and cohomology theory of Hom-Lie antialgebras are investigated. We prove that the equivalent classes of abelian extensions of Hom-Lie antialgebras are in one-to-one correspondence to elements of the second cohomology group. We also prove that 1-parameter infinitesimal deformation of a Hom-Lie antialgebra are characterized by 2-cocycles of this Hom-Lie antialgebra with adjoint representation in itself. The notion of Nijenhuis operators of Hom-Lie antialgebra is introduced to describe trivial deformations.

Abstract:We describe a procedure to attach a nilpotent strong homotopy Lie algebra to every simple hypergraph and prove that two hypergraphs are isomorphic if and only if the corresponding strong homotopy Lie algebras are isomorphic. As an application, we characterize hypergraphs admitting a system of distinct representatives in terms of symplectic forms on the corresponding strong homotopy Lie algebra. We conclude with a combinatorial description of the cohomology of these strong homotopy Lie algebras in low degree.

Abstract:We prove that the cohomology algebra of a conilpotent Lie coalgebra is generated in degree 1 as an A-infinity algebra. By dualizing, the same is true about cohomology algebras of finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebras. In the process, we provide a proof of the conilpotent version of the dual Poincare-Birkhoff-Witt theorem.

Abstract:Let C be an additive category. The nilpotent category Nil( C) of C , consists of object pairs (X, x) with X ∈ C,x ∈End_ C(X) such that xn = 0 for some positive integer n, and a morphism f: (X, x) → (Y, y) is f ∈Hom_ C(X,Y) satisfying fx = yf. A general theory of Nil( C) is established and it is abelian in the case that C is abelian. Two abelian categories are equivalent if and only if their nilpotent categories are equivalent, which generalizes a result in [Comm. Algebra, 2018, 46(7): 3062–3070]. As an application, it is proved that all self-adjoint functors are naturally isomorphic to Hom and Tensor functors over the category V of finite-dimensional vector spaces. Both Hom and Tensor can be naturally generalized to HOM and Tensor functor over Nil( V) . They are still self-adjoint, but intrinsically different.

Abstract:Let $L$ and $H$ be finite-dimensional restricted Lie algebras over a perfect field $\F$ such that $u(L)\cong u(H)$, where $u(L)$ is the restricted enveloping algebra of $L$. We prove that if $L$ is $p$-nilpotent and abelian, then $L\cong H$. We deduce that if $L$ is abelian and $\F$ is algebraically closed, then $L\cong H$. We use these results to prove the main result of this paper stating that if $L$ is $p$-nilpotent, then $L/L'^p+\gamma_3(L)\cong H/H'^p+\gamma_3(H)$.

Abstract:We give a systematic study of the model theory of generic nilpotent groups and Lie algebras. We show that the Fraïssé limit of 2-nilpotent groups of exponent $p$ studied by Baudisch is 2-dependent and NSOP$_{1}$. We prove that the class of $c$-nilpotent Lie algebras over an arbitrary field, in a language with predicates for a Lazard series, is closed under free amalgamation. We show that for $2 < c$, the generic $c$-nilpotent Lie algebra over $\mathbb{F}_{p}$ is strictly NSOP$_{4}$ and $c$-dependent. Via the Lazard correspondence, we obtain the same result for $c$-nilpotent groups of exponent $p$, for an odd prime $p > c$.

Abstract:Given a simply connected solvable Lie group $G$, there always exists NIL-affine action $\rho: G \to \operatorname{Aff}(H)$ on a nilpotent Lie group $H$ such that $G$ acts simply transitively. The question whether this is always possible for $H = \mathbb{R}^n$ abelian was known as Milnor's question, with a negative answer due to a counterexample of Benoist. This counterexample is based on a correspondence between certain affine actions $\rho: G \to \operatorname{Aff}(\mathbb R^n)$ and left-symmetric structures on the corresponding Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$ of $G$, where simply transitive actions correspond exactly to the so-called complete left-symmetric structures. In general however, the question remains open which solvable Lie groups $G$ can act on which nilpotent Lie groups $H$.

Abstract:In this paper we study non-nilpotent non-Lie Leibniz $\mathbb{F}$-algebras with one-dimensional derived subalgebra, where $\mathbb{F}$ is a field with $\operatorname{char}(\mathbb{F}) \neq 2$. We prove that such an algebra is isomorphic to the direct sum of the two-dimensional non-nilpotent non-Lie Leibniz algebra and an abelian algebra. We denote it by $L_n$, where $n=\dim_{\mathbb{F}} L_n$. This generalizes the result found in [11], which is only valid when $\mathbb{F}=\mathbb{C}$. Moreover, we find the Lie algebra of derivations, its Lie group of automorphisms and the Leibniz algebra of biderivations of $L_n$. Eventually, we solve the coquecigrue problem for $L_n$ by integrating it into a Lie rack.

Abstract:In this paper we study the isotopism classes of two-step nilpotent algebras. We show that every nilpotent Leibniz algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ with $\operatorname{dim}[\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{g}]=1$ is isotopic to the Heisenberg Lie algebra or to the Heisenberg algebra $\mathfrak{l}_{2n+1}^{J_1}$, where $J_1$ is the $n \times n$ Jordan block of eigenvalue 1. We also prove that two such algebras are isotopic if and only if the Lie racks integrating them are isotopic. This gives the classification of Lie racks whose tangent space at the unit element is a nilpotent Leibniz algebra with one-dimensional commutator ideal. Eventually, we introduce new isotopism invariants for Leibniz algebras and Lie racks.

Abstract:We show that a compact complex parallelisable nilmanifold has unobstructed deformations if and only if its associated Lie algebra satisfies a reality condition and is a free Lie algebra in a variety of Lie algebras, that is, defined by a verbal ideal in a free Lie algebra. We provide a partial classification of verbal ideals and show that there are finitely many such Lie algebras up to dimension 19, whereas infinite families start to appear in dimension 20. As a consequence, there are finitely many complex homotopy types of unobstructed complex parallelisable nilmanifolds up to dimension 19, and infinitely many in dimension 20.

A characterization of Anosov rational forms in nilpotent Lie algebras associated to graphs

Abstract:Anosov diffeomorphisms are an important class of dynamical systems with many peculiar properties. Ever since they were introduced in the sixties, it has been an open question which manifolds can admit such diffeomorphisms, where tori of dimension greater than or equal to two are the typical examples. It is conjectured that the only manifolds supporting an Anosov diffeomorphism are finitely covered by a nilmanifold, a type of manifold closely related to rational nilpotent Lie algebras. In this paper, we study the existence of Anosov diffeomorphisms for a large class of these nilpotent Lie algebras, namely the ones that can be realized as a rational form in a Lie algebra associated to a graph. From a given simple undirected graph, one can construct a complex $c$-step nilpotent Lie algebra, which in general contains different non-isomorphic rational forms, as described by the authors in previous work. We determine precisely which forms correspond to a nilmanifold admitting an Anosov diffeomorphism, leading to the first class of complex nilpotent Lie algebras having several non-isomorphic rational forms and for which all the ones that are Anosov are described. In doing so, we put a new perspective on certain classifications in low dimensions and correct a false result in the literature.

Abstract:We study the existence of certain characteristically nilpotent Lie algebras with flat coadjoint orbits. Their connected, simply connected Lie groups admit square-integrable representations modulo the center. There are many examples of nilpotent Lie groups admitting families of dilations and square-integrable representations, but so far no examples admitting square-integrable representations for which the quotient by the center does not admit a family of dilations. In this paper we construct a two-parameter family of characteristically nilpotent Lie groups $G(\alpha,\beta)$ in dimension $11$, admitting square-integrable representations modulo the center $Z$, such that $G(\alpha,\beta)/Z$ does not admit a family of dilations.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a converse to Schur's theorem for Lie superalgebras $ L $, focusing on cases where the minimal generator number pairs $(p \vert q)$ of $ L/Z(L) $ are considered, and where the superdimension $ \mathrm{sdim} L^{2} $ is finite. We introduce a new invariant $ st(L) $, which plays a key role in the classification of finite-dimensional nilpotent Lie superalgebras. Specifically, we classify the structure of all such Lie superalgebras $ L $ when $ st(L) \in \{(0,0), (1,0), (0,1), (2,0), (0,2), (1,1)\} $.

Abstract:We look at the interconnection between Lie nilpotent Jordan algebras and Lie nilpotent associative algebras. It is proved that a special Jordan algebra is Lie nilpotent if and only if its associative enveloping algebra is Lie nilpotent. Also it turns out that a Jordan algebra is Lie nilpotent of index 2n + 1 if and only if its algebra of multiplications is Lie nilpotent of index 2n. Finally, we prove a product theorem for Jordan algebras.
