Abstract:Lie conformal algebras appear in the theory of vertex algebras. Their relation is similar to that of Lie algebras and their universal enveloping algebras. Associative conformal algebras play a role in conformal representation theory. We introduce the notions of conformal identity and unital associative conformal algebras and classify finitely generated simple unital associative conformal algebras of linear growth. These are precisely the complete algebras of conformal endomorphisms of finite modules.

Abstract:The paper presents the "Event Display" package for the STAR offline production as a special visualization tool to debug the reconstruction code. This can be achieved if an author of the algorithm / code may build his/her own custom Event Display alone from the base software blocks and re-used some well-designed, easy to learn user-friendly patterns. For STAR offline production Event Display ROOT with Qt lower level interface was chosen as the base tools.

Abstract:The notion of left-symmetric bialgebra was introduced in [C. M. Bai, Left-symmetric bialgebra and an analogue of the classical Yang–Baxter equation, Commun. Contemp. Math. 10(2) (2008) 221–260] which is equivalent to a parakähler Lie algebra which is the Lie algebra of a Lie group G with a G-invariant parakähler structure. In this paper, we study a conformal analog of left-symmetric bialgebras. The notions of left-symmetric conformal coalgebra and bialgebra are introduced. Moreover, the constructions of matched pairs of Lie conformal algebras and left-symmetric conformal algebras are presented. We show that a finite left-symmetric conformal bialgebra which is free as a ℂ[∂]-module is equivalent to a parakähler Lie conformal algebra. We also obtain a conformal analog of the S-equation (see [C. M. Bai, Left-symmetric bialgebras and an analogue of the classical Yang–Baxter equation, Commun. Contemp. Math. 10(2) (2008) 221–260]), and give a construction of the conformal symplectic double.

Abstract:In this paper, we find the Hochschild cohomology groups of the universal associative conformal envelope $U(3)$ of the Virasoro Lie conformal algebra with respect to associative locality $N=3$ on the generator with coefficients in all finite modules. In order to obtain this result, we construct the Anick resolution via the algebraic discrete Morse theory and Gröbner--Shirshov basis.

Abstract:In this note we show how to apply the Gröbner--Shirshov bases (GSB) method for modules over an associative algebra to the study of vertex algebras defined by generators and relations. We compute GSBs for a series of vertex algebras and study the problem of embedding of a left-symmetric algebra into a vertex one preserving the normally ordered product.

Abstract:We define a congruence module associated to a surjective -algebra morphism , with a discrete valuation ring, a complete noetherian local -algebra regular at , the kernel of , and a finitely generated -module. We establish a numerical criterion for to have a free direct summand over of positive rank. It is in terms of the lengths of and the torsion part of . It generalizes results of Wiles, Lenstra, and Diamond, that deal with the case when the codimension of is zero. Number theoretic applications include integral (non-minimal) theorems in situations of positive defect conditional on certain standard conjectures. Here is a deformation ring parametrizing certain Galois representations and is a Hecke algebra. An example of a positive defect situation is that of proving modularity lifting for 2-dimensional -adic Galois representations over an imaginary quadratic field. The proofs combine our commutative algebra results with a generalization due to Calegari and Geraghty of the patching method of Wiles and Taylor–Wiles and level raising arguments that go back to Ribet. The results provide new evidence in favor of the intriguing, and as yet fledgling, torsion analog of the classical Langlands correspondence. We also prove unconditional integral results for Hecke algebras acting on weight one cohomology of Shimura curves over Q. This leads to a torsion Jacquet–Langlands correspondence comparing integral Hecke algebras acting on weight one cohomology of Shimura curves and modular curves. In this case the cohomology has abundant torsion and so our correspondence cannot be deduced by means of the classical Jacquet–Langlands correspondence.

Abstract:In this paper, we elaborate Gröbner-Shirshov bases method for Leibniz (super)algebras. We show that there is a unique reduced Gröbner-Shirshov basis for every (graded) ideal of a free Leibniz (super)algebra. As applications, we construct linear bases of free metabelian Leibniz superalgebras and new linear bases of free metabelian Lie algebras. We present a complete characterization of extensions of a Leibniz (super)algebra by another Leibniz (super)algebra, where the former is presented by generators and relations.

Abstract:We study a question which can be roughly stated as follows: Given a (unital or nonunital) algebra $A$ together with a Gr\"obner-Shirshov basis $G$, consider the free operated algebra $B$ over $A$, such that the operator satisfies some polynomial identities $\Phi$ which are Gr\"obner-Shirshov in the sense of Guo et al., when doesthe union $\Phi\cup G$ will be an operated Gr\"obner-Shirshov basis for $B$? We answer this question in the affirmative under a mild condition in our previous work with Wang. When this condition is satisfied, $\Phi\cup G$ is an operated Gr\"obner-Shirshov basis for $ B$ and as a consequence, we also get a linear basis of $B$. However, the condition could not be applied directly to differential type algebras introduced by Guo, Sit and Zhang, including usual differential algebras. This paper solves completely this problem for differential type algebras.Some new monomial orders are introduced which, together with some known ones, permit the application of the previous result to most of differential type algebras, thus providing new operated GS bases and linear bases for these differential type algebras.Versions are presented both for unital and nonunital algebras. However, a class of examples are also presented, for which the natural expectation in the question is wrong and these examples are dealt with by direct inspection.

Abstract:We establish Gröbner--Shirshov bases theory for commutative dialgebras. We show that for any ideal $I$ of $Di[X]$, $I$ has a unique reduced Gröbner--Shirshov basis, where $Di[X]$ is the free commutative dialgebra generated by a set $X$, in particular, $I$ has a finite Gröbner--Shirshov basis if $X$ is finite. As applications, we give normal forms of elements of an arbitrary commutative disemigroup, prove that the word problem for finitely presented commutative dialgebras (disemigroups) is solvable, and show that if $X$ is finite, then the problem whether two ideals of $Di[X]$ are identical is solvable. We construct a Gröbner--Shirshov basis in associative dialgebra $Di\langle X\rangle$ by lifting a Gröbner--Shirshov basis in $Di[X]$.

Geometric realization of algebraic conformal field theories

Abstract:We explore new connections between the fields and local observables in two dimensional chiral conformal field theory. We show that in a broad class of examples, the von Neumann algebras of local observables (a conformal net) can be obtained from the fields (a unitary vertex operator algebra) via a continuous geometric interpolation procedure involving Graeme Segal's functorial definition of conformal field theory. In particular, we construct conformal nets from these unitary vertex operator algebras by showing that 'geometrically mollified' versions of the fields yield bounded, local operators on the Hilbert space completion of the vertex algebra. This work is inspired by Henriques' picture of conformal nets arising from degenerate Riemann surfaces.

Conformal blocks for Galois covers of algebraic curves

Abstract:We study the spaces of twisted conformal blocks attached to a $\Gamma$-curve $\Sigma$ with marked $\Gamma$-orbits and an action of $\Gamma$ on a simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, where $\Gamma$ is a finite group. We prove that if $\Gamma$ stabilizes a Borel subalgebra of $\mathfrak{g}$, then Propagation Theorem and Factorization Theorem hold. We endow a flat projective connection on the sheaf of twisted conformal blocks attached to a smooth family of pointed $\Gamma$-curves; in particular, it is locally free. We also prove that the sheaf of twisted conformal blocks on the stable compactification of Hurwitz stack is locally free. Let $\mathscr{G}$ be the parahoric Bruhat-Tits group scheme on the quotient curve $\Sigma/\Gamma$ obtained via the $\Gamma$-invariance of Weil restriction associated to $\Sigma$ and the simply-connected simple algebraic group $G$ with Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. We prove that the space of twisted conformal blocks can be identified with the space of generalized theta functions on the moduli stack of quasi-parabolic $\mathscr{G}$-torsors on $\Sigma/\Gamma$ when the level $c$ is divisible by $|\Gamma|$ (establishing a conjecture due to Pappas-Rapoport).

Abstract:In this paper, we study a class of infinite simple Lie conformal algebras associated to a class of generalized Block type Lie algebras. The central extensions by a one-dimensional center $\mathbb {C}\mathfrak {c}$ , conformal derivations and free intermediate series modules of this class of Lie conformal algebras are determined. Moreover, we also show that these Lie conformal algebras do not have any non-trivial finite conformal modules. Consequently, these Lie conformal algebras cannot be embedded into gcN for any positive integer N.

Abstract:We study in general algebras Gratzer's notion of congruence preserving function, characterizing functions in terms of stability under inverse image of particular Boolean algebras of subsets generated from any subset of the algebra. Weakening Gratzer's notion to only finite index congruences, a similar result holds with lattices of sets. Genereralizing the notion to that of stable preorder preserving function, we extend these characterizations to Boolean algebras and lattices generated from any recognizable subset of the algebra. Our starting point is a result with related flavor on the additive algebra of natural integers which was obtained some years ago. All these results can be visualized in the diagram of Table 1. We finally consider some simple particular conditions on the algebra allowing to get a richer diagram.

Analytic Conformal Blocks of $C_2$-cofinite Vertex Operator Algebras I: Propagation and Dual Fusion Products

Abstract:This is the first paper of a three-part series in which we develop a theory of conformal blocks for $C_2$-cofinite vertex operator algebras (VOAs) that are not necessarily rational. The ultimate goal of this series is to prove a sewing-factorization theorem (and in particular, a factorization formula) for conformal blocks over holomorphic families of compact Riemann surfaces, associated to grading-restricted (generalized) modules of $C_2$-cofinite VOAs. In this paper, we prove that if $\mathbb V$ is a $C_2$-cofinite VOA, if $\mathfrak X$ is a compact Riemann surface with $N$ incoming marked points and $M$ outgoing ones, each equipped with a local coordinate, and if $\mathbb W$ is a grading-restricted $\mathbb V^{\otimes N}$-modules, then the ``dual fusion product" exists as a grading-restricted $\mathbb V^{\otimes M}$-module. Indeed, we prove a more general version of this result without assuming $\mathbb V$ to be $C_2$-cofinite. Our main method is a generalization of the propagation of conformal blocks. In the special case that $\mathfrak X$ has genus $0$, when $N=2,M=1$, our result is closely related to the theory of vertex tensor categories by Huang-Lepowsky and Huang-Lepowsky-Zhang. When $N=1,M=2$, the dual fusion product of $\mathbb W$ is closely related to Li's regular representations; if moreover $\mathbb W=\mathbb V$, the higher level Zhu algebra $A_n(\mathbb V)$ arises naturally from the dual fusion product of $\mathbb V$.
