Associative and Jordan Lie Nilpotent Algebras

Abstract:We look at the interconnection between Lie nilpotent Jordan algebras and Lie nilpotent associative algebras. It is proved that a special Jordan algebra is Lie nilpotent if and only if its associative enveloping algebra is Lie nilpotent. Also it turns out that a Jordan algebra is Lie nilpotent of index 2n + 1 if and only if its algebra of multiplications is Lie nilpotent of index 2n. Finally, we prove a product theorem for Jordan algebras.

Abstract:An anti-associative algebra is a nonassociative algebra whose multiplication satisfies the identity a(bc)+(ab)c=0. Such algebras are nilpotent. We describe the free anti-associative algebras with a finite number of generators. Other types of nonassociative algebras, obtained either by the process of polarization, such as Jacobi-Jordan algebras, or obtained by deformation quantization, are associated with this class of algebras. Following Markl-Remms work, we describe the operads associated with these algebra classes and in particular the cohomology complexes in relation to deformations.

Abstract:We define and investigate a geometric object, called an associative geometry, corresponding to an associative algebra (and, more generally, to an associative pair). Associative geometries combine aspects of Lie groups and of generalized projective geometries, where the former correspond to the Lie product of an associative algebra and the latter to its Jordan product. A further development of the theory encompassing involutive associative algebras will be given in subsequent work.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to describe the group of strongly stable automorphisms of the category of free finitely generated non-associative algebras with unit. The motivation of this research comes from universal algebraic geometry. From this perspective, our main result tells us what are the non-associative algebras with unit geometrically similar to a given one. The characterization of strongly stable automorphisms is provided by the method of verbal operations. We also specify some facts related to behavior of nullary operations on arbitrary algebraic structures.

Abstract:Inspired by the commutator and anticommutator algebras derived from algebras graded by groups, we introduce noncommutatively graded algebras. We generalize various classical graded results to the noncommutatively graded situation concerning identity elements, inverses, existence of limits and colimits and adjointness of certain functors. In the particular instance of noncommutatively graded Lie algebras, we establish the existence of universal graded enveloping algebras and we show a graded version of the Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt theorem.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to introduce and study Lie algebras and Lie groups over noncommutative rings. For any Lie algebra $\gg$ sitting inside an associative algebra $A$ and any associative algebra $\FF$ we introduce and study the algebra $(\gg,A)(\FF)$, which is the Lie subalgebra of $\FF \otimes A$ generated by $\FF \otimes \gg$. In many examples $A$ is the universal enveloping algebra of $\gg$. Our description of the algebra $(\gg,A)(\FF)$ has a striking resemblance to the commutator expansions of $\FF$ used by M. Kapranov in his approach to noncommutative geometry. To each algebra $(\gg, A)(\FF)$ we associate a ``noncommutative algebraic'' group which naturally acts on $(\gg,A)(\FF)$ by conjugations and conclude the paper with some examples of such groups.

Abstract:Lie conformal algebras appear in the theory of vertex algebras. Their relation is similar to that of Lie algebras and their universal enveloping algebras. Associative conformal algebras play a role in conformal representation theory. We introduce the notions of conformal identity and unital associative conformal algebras and classify finitely generated simple unital associative conformal algebras of linear growth. These are precisely the complete algebras of conformal endomorphisms of finite modules.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to study the structure and the algebraic varieties of Hom-associative algebras. We characterize multiplicative simple Hom-associative algebras and give some examples deforming the 2 × 2-matrix algebra to simple Hom-associative algebras. We provide a classification of n-dimensional Hom-associative algebras for n ≤ 3. Then we study irreducible components using deformation theory.

Abstract:We show that, if A is a sum of two H-commutative subalgebras, then the H-commutator ideal of A is nilpotent. This is inspired by a classical result of Kegel [9], which says that a ring is nilpotent if it is a sum of two nilpotent subrings. Then a partial analog of some results in [12] is shown in a more general quasi-triangular Hopf algebra setting.

Abstract:Considering a Poisson algebra as a non associative algebra satisfying the Markl-Remm identity, we study deformations of Poisson algebras as deformations of this non associative algebra. This gives a natural interpretation of deformations which preserves the underlying associative structure and we study deformations which preserve the underlying Lie algebra.

Abstract: In this paper, we give a unified construction of vertex algebras arising from infinite-dimensional Lie algebras, including the affine Kac-Moody algebras, Virasoro algebras, Heisenberg algebras and their higher rank analogs, orbifolds and deformations. We define a notion of what we call quasi vertex Lie algebra to unify these Lie algebras. Starting from any (maximal) quasi vertex Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, we construct a corresponding vertex Lie algebra ${\mathfrak{g}}_0$, and establish a canonical isomorphism between the category of restricted $\mathfrak{g}$-modules and that of equivariant $\phi$-coordinated quasi $V_{{\mathfrak{g}}_0}$-modules, where $V_{{\mathfrak{g}}_0}$ is the universal enveloping vertex algebra of ${\mathfrak{g}}_0$. This unified all the previous constructions of vertex algebras from infinite-dimensional Lie algebras and shed light on the way to associate vertex algebras with Lie algebras.

Abstract:In this paper, we study nonabelian extensions of associative algebras using associative 2-algebra homomorphisms. First we construct an associative 2-algebra using the bimultipliers of an associative algebra. Then we classify nonabelian extensions of associative algebras using associative 2-algebra homomorphisms. Finally we analyze the relation between nonabelian extensions of associative algebras and nonabelian extensions of the corresponding commutator Lie algebras.

Post-Lie algebra structures for perfect Lie algebras

Abstract:We study the existence of post-Lie algebra structures on pairs of Lie algebras $(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{n})$, where one of the algebras is perfect non-semisimple, and the other one is abelian, nilpotent non-abelian, solvable non-nilpotent, simple, semisimple non-simple, reductive non-semisimple or complete non-perfect. We prove several non-existence results, but also provide examples in some cases for the existence of a post-Lie algebra structure. Among other results we show that there is no post-Lie algebra structure on $(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{n})$, where $\mathfrak{g}$ is perfect non-semisimple, and $\mathfrak{n}$ is $\mathfrak{sl}_3(\mathbb{C})$. We also show that there is no post-Lie algebra structure on $(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{n})$, where $\mathfrak{g}$ is perfect and $\mathfrak{n}$ is reductive with a $1$-dimensional center.

Abstract:A compatible associative algebra is a vector space equipped with two associative multiplication structures that interact in a certain natural way. This article presents the classification of these algebras with dimension less than four, as well as the classifications of their corresponding derivations, centroids, automorphisms, and quasi-centroids. We then characterize a selection of further invariants such as Rota-Baxter operators and second cohomology for some specific examples.

Abstract:We investigate formal deformations of certain classes of nonassociative algebras including classes of K[{\Sigma}3]-associative algebras, Lie-admissible algebras and anti-associative algebras. In a process which is similar to Poisson algebra for the associative case we identify for each type of algebra (A, {\mu}), an algebra (A, {\mu}, {\psi}) such that the formal deformation (A[[t]], {\mu}t) is the quantization deformation of (A, {\mu}, {\psi}). The process of polarization/depolarization associate to each nonassociative algebra a couple of algebras which products are respectively commutative and skew-symmetric and is linked with the algebra obtained from the formal deformation.
