Abstract:We describe a general method for constructing Heisenberg uniqueness pairs in the euclidean space based on the study of boundary value problems for partial differential equations. As a result, we show, for instance, that any pair made of the boundary of a bounded convex set and a sphere is an Heisenberg uniqueness pair if and only if the square of the radius of is not an eigenvalue of the Laplacian on . The main ingredients for the proofs are the Paley–Wiener theorem, the uniqueness of a solution to a homogeneous Dirichlet or initial boundary value problem, the continuity of single layer potentials, and some complex analysis in . Denjoy's theorem on topological conjugacy of circle diffeomorphisms with irrational rotation numbers is also useful.

Essential normality of quotient submodules over strongly pseudoconvex finite manifolds

Abstract:We investigate the $p$-essential normality of Hilbert quotient submodules on a relatively compact smooth strongly pseudoconvex domain in a complex manifold satisfying Property (S). For analytic subvarieties that have compact singularities and transversely intersect the strongly pseudoconvex boundary, we prove that the corresponding Bergman-Sobolev quotient submodules are $p$-essentially normal whenever $p$ exceeds the dimension of the noncompact part of the analytic subvarieties. As a consequence, we partially confirm the geometric Arveson-Douglas Conjecture and resolve an open problem regarding the trace-class antisymmetric sum of truncated Toeplitz operators within a broader context. Moreover, we provide applications in $K$-homology and geometric invariant theory.

Abstract:We establish a correspondence on a Riemann surface between hyperbolic metrics with isolated singularities and bounded projective functions whose Schwarzian derivatives have at most double poles and whose monodromies lie in ${\rm PSU}(1,\,1)$. As an application, we construct explicitly a new class of hyperbolic metrics with countably many singularities on the unit disc.

Abstract:A $p$-Kähler structure on a complex manifold of complex dimension $n$ is given by a $d$-closed transverse real $(p,p)$-form. In the paper we study the existence of $p$-Kähler structures on compact quotients of simply connected Lie groups by discrete subgroups endowed with an invariant complex structure. In particular, we discuss the existence of $p$-Kähler structures on nilmanifolds, with a focus on the case $p =2$ and complex dimension $n = 4$. Moreover, we prove that a $(n-2)$-Kähler almost abelian solvmanifold of complex dimension $n\geq3$ has to be Kähler.

Abstract:A new proof of a theorem that describes $(\lambda, \mu)$-eigenfunctions on sphere is obtained. This proof is based on a statement that a function $f$ is a $(\lambda, \mu)$-eigenfunction if and only if $f$ and $f^2$ are eigenfunctions for Laplace-Beltrami operator. Also, minimal submanifolds in spheres of codimension 1 are constructed. In the case of $\mathbb{S}^3$ two immersions of Clifford torus and all Lawson $\tau_{n, m}$ surfaces are described in terms of $(\lambda, \mu)$-eigenfunctions.

Abstract:In this paper we define an invariant of a pair of a 6 dimensional symplectic manifold with vanishing 1st Chern class and its relatively spin Lagrangian submanifold with vanishing Maslov index. This invariant is a function on the set of the path connected components of bounding cochains (solutions of the A infinity version of the Maurer-Cartan equation of the filtered A infinity algebra associated to the Lagrangian submanifold). In the case when the Lagrangian submanifold is a rational homology sphere, it becomes a numerical invariant. This invariant depends on the choice of almost complex structures. The way how it depends on the almost complex structures is described by a wall crossing formula which involves a moduli space of pseudo-holomorphic spheres.

Abstract:We develop a theory of generalized solutions of the nonlinear evolution equations for complex-valued functions of a real positive time variable and p -adic spatial variable, which can be seen as non-Archimedean counterparts of the fractional porous medium equation. In this case, we face the problem that a p -adic ball is simultaneously open and closed, thus having an empty boundary. To address this issue, we use the algebraic structure of the field of p -adic numbers and apply the Pontryagin duality theory to construct the appropriate fractional Sobolev type spaces. We prove the existence and uniqueness results for the corresponding nonlinear equation and define an associated nonlinear semigroup.

Boundary exceptional sets for radial limits of superharmonic functions on non-positively curved Harmonic manifolds of purely exponential volume growth

Abstract:By classical Fatou type theorems in various setups, it is well-known that positive harmonic functions have non-tangential limit at almost every point on the boundary. In this paper, in the setting of non-positively curved Harmonic manifolds of purely exponential volume growth, we are interested in the size of the exceptional sets of points on the boundary at infinity, where a suitable function blows up faster than a prescribed growth rate, along radial geodesic rays. For Poisson integrals of complex measures, we obtain a sharp bound on the Hausdorff dimension of the exceptional sets, in terms of the mean curvature of horospheres and the parameter of the growth rate. In the case of the Green potentials, we obtain similar upper bounds and also construct Green potentials that blow up faster than a prescribed rate on lower Hausdorff dimensional realizable sets. So we get a gap in the corresponding Hausdorff dimensions due to the assumption of variable pinched non-positive sectional curvature. We also obtain a Riesz decomposition theorem for subharmonic functions. Combining the above results we get our main result concerning Hausdorff dimensions of the exceptional sets of positive superharmonic functions.

A new way to express boundary values in terms of holomorphic functions on planar Lipschitz domains

Abstract:We decompose $p$ - integrable functions on the boundary of a simply connected Lipschitz domain $\Omega \subset \mathbb C$ into the sum of the boundary values of two, uniquely determined holomorphic functions, where one is holomorphic in $\Omega$ while the other is holomorphic in $\mathbb C\setminus \overline{\Omega}$ and vanishes at infinity. This decomposition has been described previously for smooth functions on the boundary of a smooth domain. Uniqueness of the decomposition is elementary in the smooth case, but extending it to the $L^p$ setting relies upon a regularity result for the holomorphic Hardy space $h^p(b\Omega)$ which appears to be new even for smooth $\Omega$. An immediate consequence of our result will be a new characterization of the kernel of the Cauchy transform acting on $L^p(b\Omega)$. These results give a new perspective on the classical Dirichlet problem for harmonic functions and the Poisson formula even in the case of the disc. Further applications are presented along with directions for future work.

Abstract:We study hypergraphs which are uniquely determined by their chromatic, independence and matching polynomials. B. Bollobás, L. Pebody and O. Riordan (2000) conjectured (BPR-conjecture) that almost all graphs are uniquely determined by their chromatic polynomials. We show that for $r$-uniform hypergraphs with $r \geq 3$ this is almost never the case. This disproves the analolgue of the BPR-conjecture for $3$-uniform hypergraphs. For $r =2$ this also holds for the independence polynomial, as shown by J.A. Makowsky and V. Rakita (2017), whereas for the chromatic and matching polynomial this remains open.

Potential Theory on Almost Complex Manifolds

Abstract:Pseudo-holomorphic curves on almost complex manifolds have been much more intensely studied than their "dual" objects, the plurisubharmonic functions. These functions are defined classically by requiring that the restriction to each pseudo-holomorphic curve is subharmonic. In this paper subharmonic functions are defined by applying the viscosity approach to a version of the complex hessian which exists intrinsically on any almost complex manifold. Three theorems are proved. The first is a restriction theorem which establishes the equivalence of our definition with the "classical" definition. In the second theorem, using our "viscosity" definitions, the Dirichlet problem is solved for the complex Monge-Ampère equation in both the homogeneous and inhomogeneous forms. These two results are based on theorems found in two recent papers of the authors. Finally, it is shown that the plurisubharmonic functions considered here agree with the plurisubharmonic distributions. In particular, this proves a conjecture of Nefton Pali.

Static manifolds with boundary: Their geometry and some uniqueness theorems

Abstract:Static manifolds with boundary were recently introduced to mathematics. This kind of manifolds appears naturally in the prescribed scalar curvature problem on manifolds with boundary, when the mean curvature of the boundary is also prescribed. They are also interesting from the point of view of General Relativity. For example, the (time-slice of the) photon sphere on the Riemannian Schwarzschild manifold splits it into static manifolds with boundary. In this paper we prove a number of theorems, which relate the topology and geometry of a given static manifold with boundary to some properties of the zero-level set of its potential (such as connectedness and closedness). Also, we characterize the round ball in the Euclidean 3-space with standard potential as the only scalar-flat static manifold with mean-convex boundary, whose zero-level set of the potential has Morse index one. This result follows from a general isoperimetric inequality for 3-dimensional static manifolds with boundary, whose zero-level set of the potential has Morse index one. Finally, we prove some uniqueness theorem for the domains bounded by the photon sphere on the Riemannian Schwarzschild manifold.

Abstract:For a Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle over a Hermitian manifold, we consider the Dolbeault Laplacian with $\overline\partial$-Neumann boundary conditions, which is a self-adjoint operator on the space of square-integrable differential forms with values in the given holomorphic bundle. We argue that some known results on the spectral properties of this operator on pseudoconvex domains in $\mathbb C^n$ continue to hold on K\"ahler manifolds satisfying certain bounded geometry assumptions. In particular, we will consider the Dolbeault complex for forms with values in a line bundle, where known results from magnetic Schr\"odinger operator theory can be applied.

Abstract:We prove that pseudoholomorphic curves intersect complex 2-cycles positively in almost complex 4-manifolds. This makes possible a general and conceptually simple proof that an almost complex 4-manifold with many curves admits a taming symplectic structure, as envisioned by Gromov. Furthermore, we prove that the positivity of intersections between pseudoholomorphic curves is stable, in a geometric sense.
