Abstract:We present an alternative equivalent description of Dupont's simplicial contraction: it is an explicit example of a simplicial contraction between the simplicial differential graded algebra of polynomial differential forms on standard simplices and the space of Whitney elementary forms.

Abstract:Many special classes of simplicial sets, such as the nerves of categories or groupoids, the 2-Segal sets of Dyckerhoff and Kapranov, and the (discrete) decomposition spaces of Gálvez, Kock, and Tonks, are characterized by the property of sending certain commuting squares in the simplex category $\Delta$ to pullback squares of sets. We introduce weaker analogues of these properties called completeness conditions, which require squares in $\Delta$ to be sent to weak pullbacks of sets, defined similarly to pullback squares but without the uniqueness property of induced maps. We show that some of these completeness conditions provide a simplicial set with lifts against certain subsets of simplices first introduced in the theory of database design. We also provide reduced criteria for checking these properties using factorization results for pushouts squares in $\Delta$, which we characterize completely, along with several other classes of squares in $\Delta$. Examples of simplicial sets with completeness conditions include quasicategories, many of the compositories and gleaves of Flori and Fritz, and bar constructions for algebras of certain classes of monads. The latter is our motivating example.

Counting divisorial contractions with centre a $cA_n$-singularity

Abstract:First, we simplify the existing classification due to Kawakita and Yamamoto of 3-dimensional divisorial contractions with centre a $cA_n$-singularity, also called compound $A_n$ singularity. Next, we describe the global algebraic divisorial contractions corresponding to a given local analytic equivalence class of divisorial contractions with centre a point. Finally, we consider divisorial contractions of discrepancy at least 2 to a fixed variety with centre a $cA_n$-singularity. We show that if there exists one such divisorial contraction, then there exist uncountably many such divisorial contractions.

The Properties of Topological Manifolds of Simplicial Polynomials

Abstract:The formulations of polynomials over a topological simplex combine the elements of topology and algebraic geometry. This paper proposes the formulation of simplicial polynomials and the properties of resulting topological manifolds in two classes, non-degenerate forms and degenerate forms, without imposing the conditions of affine topological spaces. The non-degenerate class maintains the degree preservation principle of the atoms of the polynomials of a topological simplex, which is relaxed in the degenerate class. The concept of hybrid decomposition of a simplicial polynomial in the non-degenerate class is introduced. The decompositions of simplicial polynomial for a large set of simplex vertices generate ideal components from the radical, and the components preserve the topologically isolated origin in all cases within the topological manifolds. Interestingly, the topological manifolds generated by a non-degenerate class of simplicial polynomials do not retain the homeomorphism property under polynomial extension by atom addition if the simplicial condition is violated. However, the topological manifolds generated by the degenerate class always preserve isomorphism with varying rotational orientations. The hybrid decompositions of the non-degenerate class of simplicial polynomials give rise to the formation of simplicial chains. The proposed formulations do not impose strict positivity on simplicial polynomials as a precondition.

A Dichotomy for Finite Abstract Simplicial Complexes

Abstract:Given two finite abstract simplicial complexes A and B, one can define a new simplicial complex on the set of simplicial maps from A to B. After adding two technicalities, we call this complex Homsc(A, B). We prove the following dichotomy: For a fixed finite abstract simplicial complex B, either Homsc(A, B) is always a disjoint union of contractible spaces or every finite CW-complex can be obtained up to a homotopy equivalence as Homsc(A, B) by choosing A in a right way. We furthermore show that the first case is equivalent to the existence of a nontrivial social choice function and that in this case, the space itself is homotopy equivalent to a discrete set. Secondly, we give a generalization to finite relational structures and show that this dichotomy coincides with a complexity theoretic dichotomy for constraint satisfaction problems, namely in the first case, the problem is in P and in the second case NP-complete. Gorenstein contractions of multiscale differentials

Abstract:Multiscale differentials arise as limits of holomorphic differentials with prescribed orders of zeros on nodal curves. In this paper, we address the conjecture concerning Gorenstein contractions of multiscale differentials, initially proposed by Ranganathan and Wise and further elaborated upon by Battistella and Bozlee. Specifically, we show that multiscale differentials can be contracted into Gorenstein singularities level by level from the top down. At each level, these differentials can descend to become generators of the dualizing bundle at the singularities. Additionally, the global residue condition, which governs the smoothability of multiscale differentials, is a special case of the residue condition for descent differentials.

Abstract:We reorganize, simplify and expand the theory of contractions or interior products of multivectors, and related topics like Hodge star duality. Many results are generalized and new ones are given, like: geometric characterizations of blade contractions and regressive products, higher-order graded Leibniz rules, determinant formulas, improved complex star operators, etc. Different contractions and conventions found in the literature are discussed and compared, in special those of Clifford Geometric Algebra. Applications of the theory are developed in a follow-up paper.

Abstract:We find identities involving differential operators in the generic artinian reduction of the Stanley-Reisner ring of a simplicial sphere in any positive characteristic. These identities generalize the characteristic 2 identities used by Papadakis and Petrotou to give a proof of the algebraic g-conjecture. We use these identities to prove the anisotropy of certain forms on the generic artinian reduction of the Stanley-Reisner ring and to prove weak Lefschetz results.

Andô dilations for a pair of commuting contractions: two explicit constructions and functional models

Abstract:One of the most important results in operator theory is Andô's \cite{ando} generalization of dilation theory for a single contraction to a pair of commuting contractions acting on a Hilbert space. While there are two explicit constructions (Schäffer \cite{sfr} and Douglas \cite{Doug-Dilation}) of the minimal isometric dilation of a single contraction, there was no such explicit construction of an Andô dilation for a commuting pair $(T_1,T_2)$ of contractions, except in some special cases \cite{A-M-Dist-Var, D-S, D-S-S}. In this paper, we give two new proofs of Andô's dilation theorem by giving both Schäffer-type and Douglas-type explicit constructions of an Andô dilation with function-theoretic interpretation, for the general case. The results, in particular, give a complete description of all possible factorizations of a given contraction $T$ into the product of two commuting contractions. Unlike the one-variable case, two minimal Andô dilations need not be unitarily equivalent. However, we show that the compressions of the two Andô dilations constructed in this paper to the minimal dilation spaces of the contraction $T_1T_2$, are unitarily equivalent. In the special case when the product $T=T_1T_2$ is pure, i.e., if $T^{* n}\to 0$ strongly, an Andô dilation was constructed recently in \cite{D-S-S}, which, as this paper will show, is a corollary to the Douglas-type construction. We define a notion of characteristic triple for a pair of commuting contractions and a notion of coincidence for such triples. We prove that two pairs of commuting contractions with their products being pure contractions are unitarily equivalent if and only if their characteristic triples coincide. We also characterize triples which qualify as the characteristic triple for some pair $(T_1,T_2)$ of commuting contractions such that $T_1T_2$ is a pure contraction.

Abstract:This paper deals with the existence, or absence, of coalescent contractions of contractible spaces. These are the contractions such that when the tracks of any two points meet, at time t0, they remain together thereafter. If a finite simplicial complex K is collapsible, then any collapse of K encodes coalescent contractions of K. Examples of contractible spaces where no coalescent contractions exist are the Dunce Hat and Bing's house. We establish a criteria for contractible finite simplicial complexes that ensures there are no coalescent contractions: the star-disc property. Multivector Contractions Revisited, Part II

Abstract:The theory of contractions of multivectors, and star duality, was reorganized in a previous article, and here we present some applications. First, we study inner and outer spaces associated to a general multivector $M$ via the equations $v \wedge M = 0$ and $v \lrcorner M=0$. They are then used to analyze special decompositions, factorizations and `carvings' of $M$, to define generalized grades, and to obtain new simplicity criteria, including a reduced set of Plücker-like relations. We also discuss how contractions are related to supersymmetry, and give formulas for supercommutators of multi-fermion creation and annihilation operators.

Abstract:We give an alternative proof of Suslin's equi-dimensionalization moving lemma, using a different geometric construction. The new construction provides better control of the degrees of the polynomials used to define endomorphisms of schemes along which algebraic cycles are pulled back.

Abstract:A recent paper [R22] established "Frobenius reciprocity" as a bijection $t$ between certain symplectically reduced spaces (which need not be manifolds), and conjectured: 1°) $t$ is a diffeomorphism when these spaces are endowed with their natural subquotient diffeologies, 2°) $t$ respects the reduced diffeological $2$-forms they may (or might not) carry. In this paper, we prove both this conjecture and a similar one on prequantum reduction, and also give new sufficient conditions for the reduced forms to exist. We stop short of proving that they always exist.

Abstract:We prove a Johns theorem for simplices in $R^d$ with positive dilation factor $d+2$, which improves the previously known $d^2$ upper bound. This bound is tight in view of the $d$ lower bound. Furthermore, we give an example that $d$ isn't the optimal lower bound when $d=2$. Our results answered both questions regarding Johns theorem for simplices with positive dilation raised by \cite{leme2020costly}.

Abstract:On construit des foncteurs de formes differentielles generalisees. Ceux-ci, dans le cas d'espaces nilpotents de type fini, determinent le type d'homotopie faible des espaces. Ils sont munis, d'une maniere elementaire et naturelle, de l'action de cup-i produits. Pour les algebres commutatives a homotopit pres (algebres sur une resolution cofibrante de l'operade des algebres commutatives), on demontre en utilisant les formes differentielles generalisees que le modele de la fibre d'une application simpliciale est la cofibre du modele de ce morphisme. We construct functors of generalized differential forms. In the case of nilpotent spaces of finite type, they determine the weak homotopy type of the spaces. Moreover they are equipped, in an elementary and natural way, with the action of cup-i products. Working with commutative algebras up to homotopy (viewed as algebras over a cofibrant resolution of the operad of commutative algebras), we show using these functors that the model of the fiber of a simplicial map is the cofiber of the algebraic model of this map.

The simplicial cochain complex of with coefficients, then has the structure of an chain complex, in the sense of Ranicki . Therefore it has a Ranicki-dual chain complex, . This (contravariant) duality functor was defined algebraically on the category of chain complexes and chain maps. Our main theorem, 8.1, provides a natural chain isomorphism: where is the cellular chain complex of a CW complex . The complex is a (nonsimplicial) subdivision of the complex . The structure on arises geometrically.

Enumeration and Unimodular Equivalence of Empty Delta-Modular Simplices

Abstract:Consider a class of simplices defined by systems $A x \leq b$ of linear inequalities with $\Delta$-modular matrices. A matrix is called $\Delta$-modular, if all its rank-order sub-determinants are bounded by $\Delta$ in an absolute value. In our work we call a simplex $\Delta$-modular, if it can be defined by a system $A x \leq b$ with a $\Delta$-modular matrix $A$. And we call a simplex empty, if it contains no points with integer coordinates. In literature, a simplex is called lattice-simplex, if all its vertices have integer coordinates. And a lattice-simplex called empty, if it contains no points with integer coordinates excluding its vertices. Recently, assuming that $\Delta$ is fixed, it was shown that the number of $\Delta$-modular empty simplices modulo the unimodular equivalence relation is bounded by a polynomial on dimension. We show that the analogous fact holds for the class of $\Delta$-modular empty lattice-simplices. As the main result, assuming again that the value of the parameter $\Delta$ is fixed, we show that all unimodular equivalence classes of simplices of the both types can be enumerated by a polynomial-time algorithm. As the secondary result, we show the existence of a polynomial-time algorithm for the problem to check the unimodular equivalence relation for a given pair of $\Delta$-modular, not necessarily empty, simplices.

Abstract:We give a survey of the implosion construction, extending some of its aspects relating to hypertoric geometry from type [Formula: see text] to a general reductive group, and interpret it in the context of the Moore–Tachikawa category. We use these ideas to discuss how the contraction construction in symplectic geometry can be generalized to the hyperkähler or complex symplectic situation.
