Abstract:The double peeling of detachment of non-linear adhesive tapes from a flat Poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) surface has been investigated from both experimental and theoretical point of view. Double peeling tests show that, as the detachment process advances, the peeling angle stabilizes on a limiting value {\theta}lim corresponding to a critical pull-off force Fc above which the tape is completely detached from the substrate. This observed behavior is in good agreement with results obtained following the new theory of multiple peeling and taking into account the hardening-softening non-linear behavior of the experimentally tested adhesive tapes and clarifies some aspects of the experimental data. In particular, the theoretical model shows that the value of the limiting peeling angle depends on the geometry of the adhesive tape as well as on the stiffness properties and on the interfacial energy {\Delta}{\gamma}. Finally, theoretical predictions confirm that solutions with a peeling angle lower than {\theta}lim are unstable.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper aims to study the non - linear double - peeling phenomenon, and specifically explores the relationship between the experiment and theoretical prediction of the non - linear adhesive tape peeling from the polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) plane. The main research questions include: 1. **Experimental Observation**: Observe the behavior of the non - linear adhesive tape during the double - peeling process through experiments, especially how the peeling angle (peeling angle) stabilizes at a limit value \(\theta_{\text{lim}}\) as the peeling process progresses, and the corresponding critical pull - off force \(F_c\) at this angle. 2. **Theoretical Model**: Develop a theoretical model to explain the phenomena observed in the experiment, especially how to consider the hardening - softening non - linear behavior of the adhesive tape in the experimental test, and verify whether the predictions of the theoretical model are consistent with the experimental results. 3. **Parameter Influence**: Explore how the limit value of the peeling angle \(\theta_{\text{lim}}\) depends on the geometric shape, stiffness characteristics and interface energy \(\Delta\gamma\) of the adhesive tape. 4. **Stability Analysis**: The theoretical model also shows that the solution with the peeling angle lower than \(\theta_{\text{lim}}\) is unstable, which helps to understand certain aspects of the experimental data. By combining experimental and theoretical methods, the paper studies in detail the key parameters and their interactions in the non - linear double - peeling process, providing an important reference for the design and optimization of bio - inspired dry adhesive materials.
