Abstract:In this paper we give an algorithm for the computation of all the Arf numerical semigroups with a given genus. Moreover, we generalize the concept of genus of a numerical semigroup to good semigroups of $\mathbb{N}^r$ and we give a procedure to calculate all the Arf semigroups of $\mathbb{N}^r$ with a given genus.

Abstract:In this paper we study the property of the Arf good subsemigroups of $\mathbb{N}^n$, with $n\geq2$. We give a way to compute all the Arf semigroups with a given collection of multiplicity branches. We also deal with the problem of determining the Arf closure of a set of vectors and of a good semigroup, extending the concept of characters of an Arf numerical semigroup to Arf good semigroups.

Abstract:In this paper we present a new algorithm to calculate the set of Arf numerical semigroups with given conductor. Moreover, we extend the previous problem to the class of good semigroups, presenting procedures to compute the set of the Arf good semigroups of $\mathbb{N}^r$ with a fixed conductor $\textbf{c} \in \mathbb{N}^r$, for all $r \in \mathbb{N}$.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the concept of Arf special gaps of an Arf numerical semigroup, and an algorithm for computing all Arf special gaps of a given Arf numerical semigroup. We introduce the concept of Arf-irreducible numerical semigroups, and draw conclusions about all these concepts. We give a system of generators for the Frobenius variety and variety of families of Arf numerical semigroups. Moreover, we obtain the minimal Arf system of generators of a given Arf numerical semigroup.

Abstract:A generalized numerical semigroup is a submonoid $S$ of $\mathbb{N}^d$ with finite complement in it. We characterize isomorphisms between these monoids in terms of permutation of coordinates. Considering the equivalence relation that identifies the monoids obtained by the action of a permutation and establishing a criterion to select a representative from each equivalence class, we define some procedures for generating the set of all generalized numerical semigroups of given genus up to isomorphism. Finally, we present computational data and explore properties related to the number of generalized numerical semigroups of a given genus up to isomorphism.

A verification of Wilf's conjecture up to genus 100

Abstract:For a numerical semigroup $S \subseteq \mathbb{N}$, let $m,e,c,g$ denote its multiplicity, embedding dimension, conductor and genus, respectively. Wilf's conjecture (1978) states that $e(c-g) \ge c$. As of 2023, Wilf's conjecture has been verified by computer up to genus $g \le 66$. In this paper, we extend the verification of Wilf's conjecture up to genus $g \le 100$. This is achieved by combining three main ingredients: (1) a theorem in 2020 settling Wilf's conjecture in the case $e \ge m/3$, (2) an efficient trimming of the tree $\mathcal{T}$ of numerical groups identifying and cutting out irrelevant subtrees, and (3) the implementation of a fast parallelized algorithm to construct the tree $\mathcal{T}$ up to a given genus. We further push the verification of Wilf's conjecture up to genus $120$ in the particular case where $m$ divides $c$. Finally, we unlock three previously unknown values of the number $n_g$ of numerical semigroups of genus $g$, namely for $g=73,74,75$.

On the genera of semisimple groups defined over an integral domain of a global function field

Abstract:Let $K=\mathbb{F}_q(C)$ be the global function field of rational functions over a smooth and projective curve $C$ defined over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$. The ring of regular functions on $C-S$ where $S \neq \emptyset$ is any finite set of closed points on $C$ is a Dedekind domain $\mathcal{O}_S$ of $K$. For a semisimple $\mathcal{O}_S$-group $\underline{G}$ with a smooth fundamental group $\underline{F}$, we aim to describe both the set of genera of $\underline{G}$ and its principal genus (the latter if $\underline{G} \otimes_{\mathcal{O}_S} K$ is isotropic at $S$) in terms of abelian groups depending on $\mathcal{O}_S$ and $\underline{F}$ only. This leads to a necessary and sufficient condition for the Hasse local-global principle to hold for certain $\underline{G}$. We also use it to express the Tamagawa number $\tau(G)$ of a semisimple $K$-group $G$ by the Euler Poincaré invariant. This facilitates the computation of $\tau(G)$ for twisted $K$-groups.

On the seeds and the great-grandchildren of a numerical semigroup

Abstract:We present a revisit of the seeds algorithm to explore the semigroup tree. First, an equivalent definition of seed is presented, which seems easier to manage. Second, we determine the seeds of semigroups with at most three left elements. And third, we find the great-grandchildren of any numerical semigroup in terms of its seeds. The RGD algorithm is the fastest known algorithm at the moment. But if one compares the originary seeds algorithm with the RGD algorithm, one observes that the seeds algorithm uses more elaborated mathematical tools while the RGD algorithm uses data structures that are better adapted to the final C implementations. For genera up to around one half of the maximum size of native integers, the newly defined seeds algorithm performs significantly better than the RGD algorithm. For future compilators allowing larger native sized integers this may constitute a powerful tool to explore the semigroup tree up to genera never explored before. The new seeds algorithm uses bitwise integer operations, the knowledge of the seeds of semigroups with at most three left elements and of the great-grandchildren of any numerical semigroup, apart from techniques such as parallelization and depth first search as wisely introduced in this context by Fromentin and Hivert. The algorithm has been used to prove that there are no Eliahou semigroups of genus $66$, hence proving the Wilf conjecture for genus up to $66$. We also found three Eliahou semigroups of genus $67$. One of these semigroups is neither of Eliahou-Fromentin type, nor of Delgado's type. However, it is a member of a new family suggested by Shalom Eliahou.

A Note on Generalized Repunit Numerical Semigroups

Abstract:Let $A=(a_1, a_2, ..., a_n)$ be relative prime positive integers with $a_i\geq 2$. The Frobenius number $F(A)$ is the largest integer not belonging to the numerical semigroup $\langle A\rangle$ generated by $A$. The genus $g(A)$ is the number of positive integer elements that are not in $\langle A\rangle$. The Frobenius problem is to find $F(A)$ and $g(A)$ for a given sequence $A$. In this note, we study the Frobenius problem of $A=\left(a,ba+d,b^2a+\frac{b^2-1}{b-1}d,...,b^ka+\frac{b^k-1}{b-1}d\right)$ and obtain formulas for $F(A)$ and $g(A)$ when $a\geq k-1$. Our formulas simplifies further for some special cases, such as repunit, Mersenne and Thabit numerical semigroups. The idea is similar to that in [\cite{LiuXin23},<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2306.03459" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2306.03459">arXiv:2306.03459</a>].

Sub-Fibonacci behavior in numerical semigroup enumeration

Abstract:In 2013, Zhai proved that most numerical semigroups of a given genus have depth at most $3$ and that the number $n_g$ of numerical semigroups of a genus $g$ is asymptotic to $S\varphi^g$, where $S$ is some positive constant and $\varphi \approx 1.61803$ is the golden ratio. In this paper, we prove exponential upper and lower bounds on the factors that cause $n_g$ to deviate from a perfect exponential, including the number of semigroups with depth at least $4$. Among other applications, these results imply the sharpest known asymptotic bounds on $n_g$ and shed light on a conjecture by Bras-Amorós (2008) that $n_g \geq n_{g-1} + n_{g-2}$. Our main tools are the use of Kunz coordinates, introduced by Kunz (1987), and a result by Zhao (2011) bounding weighted graph homomorphisms.

Abstract:A subset Δ of non-negative integers N0 is called a numerical semigroup if it is a submonoid of N0 and has a finite complement in N0 . A graph GΔ is called a Δ(α,β) -graph if there exists a numerical semigroup Δ with multiplicity α and embedding dimension β such that V(GΔ)={vi:i∈N0∖Δ} and E(GΔ)={vivj⇔i+j∈Δ} . In this article, we compute the Δ(α,β) -graphs for irreducible and Arf numerical semigroups having a metric dimension of 2. It is proved that if Δ be an irreducible and arf numerical semigroup then there are exactly 2 and 8 non-isomorphic Δ(α,β) -graphs respectively, whose metric dimension is 2.

Abstract:In this paper we present the notion of arithmetic variety for numerical semigroups. We study various aspects related to these varieties such as the smallest arithmetic that contains a set of numerical semigroups and we exhibit the rooted tree associated with an arithmetic variety. This tree is not locally finite; however, if the Frobenius number is fixed, the tree has finitely many nodes and algorithms can be developed. All algorithms provided in this article include their (non-debugged) implementation in GAP.

Abstract:We consider numerical semigroups $S_3 = \langle d_1,d_2,d_3 \rangle$, minimally generated by three positive integers. We revisit the Wilf question in $S_3$ and, making use of identities for degrees of syzygies of such semigroups, give a short proof of existence of an affirmative answer. We find also the lower bound for Frobenius numbers of $S_3$ and upper and lower bounds for higher genera.

Abstract:In this paper we study generalized Gorenstein Arf rings; a class of one-dimensional Cohen-Macaulay local Arf rings that is strictly contained in the class of Gorenstein rings. We obtain new characterizations and examples of Arf rings, and give applications of our argument to numerical semigroup rings and certain idealizations. In particular, we generalize a beautiful result of Barucci and Fröberg concerning Arf numerical semigroup rings.

In this paper, we study the Frobenius problem of $A=\left(a,h_1a+b_1d,h_2a+b_2d,...,h_ka+b_kd\right)$ with some restrictions. An innovation is that $d$ can be a negative integer. In particular, when $A=\left(a,ba+d,b^2a+\frac{b^2-1}{b-1}d,...,b^ka+\frac{b^k-1}{b-1}d\right)$, we obtain formulas for $F(A)$ and $g(A)$ when $a\geq k-1-\frac{d-1}{b-1}$. Our formulas simplifies further for some special cases, such as Mersenne, Thabit and repunit numerical semigroups. We obtain explicit closed formulas for generalized Mersenne, Thabit and repunit numerical semigroups and some more general numerical semigroups. Finally, we partially solve an open problem for the Porth numerical semigroup.

Abstract:Abstract. In this paper we present a procedure to build the set of irreducible numerical semigroups with a fixed Frobenius number. The construction gives us a rooted tree structure for this set. Furthermore, by using the notion of Kunz-coordinates vector we translate the problem of finding such a tree into the problem of manipulating vectors with as many component as the Frobenius number.

Abstract:Let $R$ be a ring with identity. The comaximal graph of $R$, denoted by $\Gamma(R)$, is a simple graph with vertex set $R$ and two different vertices $a$ and $b$ are adjacent if and only if $aR+bR=R$. Let $\Gamma_{2}(R)$ be a subgraph of $\Gamma(R)$ induced by $R\backslash\{U(R)\cup J(R)\}$. In this paper, we investigate the genus of the line graph $L(\Gamma(R))$ of $\Gamma(R)$ and the line graph $L(\Gamma_{2}(R))$ of $\Gamma_2(R)$. All finite commutative rings whose genus of $L(\Gamma(R))$ and $L(\Gamma_{2}(R))$ are 0, 1, 2 are completely characterized, respectively.

Abstract:The article presents several methods for the arithmetic of finite abelian groups. We introduce a tool - already used by Delsarte in [1] as I found out later - analogous to Dirichlet's convolution to obtain combinatorial results on these groups. Using this convolution and some group actions, we deduce an interesting fact : the number of generating subsets of a finite abelian group is always a multiple of the order of the group. Eventually, we prove a theorem about the generation of the group of permutations of an abelian group G using only transpositions and translations from the group G.

Abstract:A \emph{numerical semigroup} is a subset $\Lambda$ of the nonnegative integers that is closed under addition, contains $0$, and omits only finitely many nonnegative integers (called the \emph{gaps} of $\Lambda$). The collection of all numerical semigroups may be visually represented by a tree of element removals, in which the children of a semigroup $\Lambda$ are formed by removing one element of $\Lambda$ that exceeds all existing gaps of $\Lambda$. In general, a semigroup may have many children or none at all, making it difficult to understand the number of semigroups at a given depth on the tree. We investigate the problem of estimating the number of semigroups at depth $g$ (i.e.\ of genus $g$) with $h$ children, showing that as $g$ becomes large, it tends to a proportion $\phi^{-h-2}$ of all numerical semigroups, where $\phi$ is the golden ratio.
