Abstract:In this paper, we prove a large deviation principle for the empirical measures of a system of weakly interacting diffusion with reflection. We adopt the weak convergence approach. To make this approach work, we show that the sequence of empirical measures of the controlled reflected system will converge to the weak solution of an associated reflected McKean--Vlasov equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a class of reflected stochastic differential equations for which the constraint is not on the paths of the solution but on its law. We establish a small noise large deviation principle, a large deviation for short time, the Malliavin derivative and the smoothness of the density. To prove large deviation principles, a sufficient condition for the weak convergence method, which is suitable for Mckean–Vlasov stochastic differential equation, plays an important role.

Abstract:This work concerns generalized backward stochastic differential equations, which are coupled with a family of reflecting diffusion processes. First of all, we establish the large deviation principle for forward stochastic differential equations with reflecting boundaries under weak monotonicity conditions. Then based on the obtained result and the contraction principle, the large deviation principle for the generalized backward stochastic differential equations is proved. As a by-product, we obtain a limit result about parabolic partial differential equations with the nonlinear Neumann boundary conditions.

Abstract:In this paper, we develop a new mathematical technique which allows us to express the joint distribution of a Markov process and its running maximum (or minimum) through the marginal distribution of the process itself. This technique is an extension of the classical reflection principle for Brownian motion, and it is obtained by weakening the assumptions of symmetry required for the classical reflection principle to work. We call this method a weak reflection principle and show that it provides solutions to many problems for which the classical reflection principle is typically used. In addition, unlike the classical reflection principle, the new method works for a much larger class of stochastic processes which, in particular, do not possess any strong symmetries. Here, we review the existing results which establish the weak reflection principle for a large class of time-homogeneous diffusions on a real line and then proceed to extend this method to the Lévy processes with one-sided jumps (subject to some admissibility conditions). Finally, we demonstrate the applications of the weak reflection principle in financial mathematics, computational methods and inverse problems.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the large deviation principle of the stochastic reaction-diffusion lattice systems defined on the N-dimensional integer set, where the nonlinear drift term is locally Lipschitz continuous with polynomial growth of any degree and the nonlinear diffusion term is locally Lipschitz continuous with linear growth. We first prove the convergence of the solutions of the controlled stochastic lattice systems, and then establish the large deviations by the weak convergence method based on the equivalence of the large deviation principle and the Laplace principle.

The key is to obtain some substitution formula for Stratonovich integrals via a uniform convergence of the corresponding Riemann sums and to prove continuity of functionals of the strong solutions. Abstract:In this paper, we study the large deviation principle of invariant measures of stochastic reaction-diffusion lattice systems driven by multiplicative noise. We first show that any limit of a sequence of invariant measures of the stochastic system must be an invariant measure of the deterministic limiting system as noise intensity approaches zero. We then prove the uniform Freidlin-Wentzell large deviations of solution paths over all initial data and the uniform Dembo-Zeitouni large deviations of solution paths over a compact set of initial data. We finally establish the large deviations of invariant measures by combining the idea of tail-ends estimates and the argument of weighted spaces.

Abstract:In this paper, a probabilistic interpretation for the viscosity solution of a parabolic partial differential equation is obtained by virtue of the solution of a class of quadratic backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs, for short). Abstract:Using the weak convergence approach, we prove the large deviation principle (LDP) for solutions to quasilinear stochastic evolution equations with small Gaussian noise in the critical variational setting, a recently developed general variational framework. No additional assumptions are made apart from those required for well-posedness. In particular, no monotonicity is required, nor a compact embedding in the Gelfand triple. Moreover, we allow for flexible growth of the diffusion coefficient, including gradient noise. This leads to numerous applications for which the LDP was not established yet, in particular equations on unbounded domains with gradient noise.

Abstract:We quantify the asymptotic behaviour of multidimensional drifltess diffusions in domains unbounded in a single direction, with asymptotically normal reflections from the boundary. We identify the critical growth/contraction rates of the domain that separate stability, null recurrence and transience. In the stable case we prove existence and uniqueness of the invariant distribution and establish the polynomial rate of decay of its tail. We also establish matching polynomial upper and lower bounds on the rate of convergence to stationarity in total variation. All exponents are explicit in the model parameters that determine the asymptotics of the growth rate of the domain, the interior covariance, and the reflection vector field. Proofs are probabilistic, and use upper and lower tail bounds for additive functionals up to return times to compact sets, for which we develop novel sub/supermartingale criteria, applicable to general continuous semimartingales. Narrowing domains fall outside of the standard literature, in part because boundary local time can accumulate arbitrarily rapidly. Establishing Feller continuity (essential for characterizing stability) thus requires an extension of the usual approach. Our recurrence/transience classification extends previous work on strictly normal reflections, and expands the range of phenomena observed across all dimensions. Abstract:In this paper we study process-level large deviations for spin-flip particle systems and more general Markov processes. We prove that a modification of a well known Donsker-Varadhan entropy function can be used to govern the large deviation lower bounds for any such process starting from a class of initial distributions related to an extremal invariant measure of the process. In some specific cases, we obtain the full large deviation principle.
