Abstract:In this paper, the strong solutions of multidimensional stochastic differential equations with reflecting boundary and with a non-adapted initial random variable are established. The key is to obtain some substitution formula for Stratonovich integrals via a uniform convergence of the corresponding Riemann sums and to prove continuity of functionals of the strong solutions. The results extend the work [8] of Lions and Sznitman with a non-adapted initial random variable.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the deterministic multidimensional Skorokhod problem with normal reflection in a family of time-dependent convex domains that are càdlàg with respect to the Hausdorff metric. We then show the existence and uniqueness of solutions to multidimensional McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations reflected in these time-dependent domains. Additionally, we derive stability properties with respect to the initial condition and the coefficients. Finally, we establish a propagation of chaos result.

Abstract:In this article, we study a type of coupled reflected forward–backward stochastic differential equations (reflected FBSDEs, for short) with continuous coefficients, including the existence and the uniqueness of the solution of our reflected FBSDEs as well as the comparison theorem. We prove that the solution of our reflected FBSDEs gives a probabilistic interpretation for the viscosity solution of an obstacle problem for a quasilinear parabolic partial differential equation.

Brownian motion with asymptotically normal reflection in unbounded domains: from transience to stability

Abstract:We quantify the asymptotic behaviour of multidimensional drifltess diffusions in domains unbounded in a single direction, with asymptotically normal reflections from the boundary. We identify the critical growth/contraction rates of the domain that separate stability, null recurrence and transience. In the stable case we prove existence and uniqueness of the invariant distribution and establish the polynomial rate of decay of its tail. We also establish matching polynomial upper and lower bounds on the rate of convergence to stationarity in total variation. All exponents are explicit in the model parameters that determine the asymptotics of the growth rate of the domain, the interior covariance, and the reflection vector field. Proofs are probabilistic, and use upper and lower tail bounds for additive functionals up to return times to compact sets, for which we develop novel sub/supermartingale criteria, applicable to general continuous semimartingales. Narrowing domains fall outside of the standard literature, in part because boundary local time can accumulate arbitrarily rapidly. Establishing Feller continuity (essential for characterizing stability) thus requires an extension of the usual approach. Our recurrence/transience classification extends previous work on strictly normal reflections, and expands the range of phenomena observed across all dimensions. For all recurrent cases, we provide quantitative information through upper and lower bounds on tails of return times to compact sets (see <a class="link-external link-https" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDDDWdbPx74" rel="external noopener nofollow">this https URL</a> for a short YouTube video describing the results).

Abstract:For a class of stochastic differential equations with reflection for which a certain ${\mathbb{L}}^p$ continuity condition holds with $p>1$, it is shown that any weak solution that is a strong Markov process can be decomposed into the sum of a local martingale and a continuous, adapted process of zero $p$-variation. When $p=2$, this implies that the reflected diffusion is a Dirichlet process. Two examples are provided to motivate such a characterization. The first example is a class of multidimensional reflected diffusions in polyhedral conical domains that arise as approximations of certain stochastic networks, and the second example is a family of two-dimensional reflected diffusions in curved domains. In both cases, the reflected diffusions are shown to be Dirichlet processes, but not semimartingales.

Abstract:In this paper, we study reflected backward stochastic differential equation (reflected BSDE in abbreviation) with rank-based data in a Markovian framework; that is, the solution to the reflected BSDE is above a prescribed boundary process in a minimal fashion and the generator and terminal value of the reflected BSDE depend on the solution of another stochastic differential equation (SDE in abbreviation) with rank-based drift and diffusion coefficients. We derive regularity properties of the solution to such reflected BSDE, and show that the solution at the initial starting time $t$ and position $x$, which is a deterministic function, is the unique viscosity solution to some obstacle problem (or variational inequality) for the corresponding parabolic partial differential equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the mean reflected stochastic differential equations driven by G- Brownian motion, where the constraint depends on the distribution of the solution rather than on its paths. Well-posedness is achieved by first investigating the Skorokhod problem with mean reflection under the G-expectation. Two approaches to constructing the solution are introduced, both offering insights into desired properties and aiding in the application of the contraction mapping method. Additionally, a new technique is proposed to prove the first propagation of chaos result for mean reflected G-SDEs, overcoming challenges posed by the nonlinearity of G- expectation and the non-deterministic nature of the quadratic variation of G-Brownian motion.

Abstract:We prove a general theorem that the Lρ2(Rd;R1)⊗Lρ2(Rd;Rd)-valued solution of an infinite horizon backward doubly stochastic differential equation, if exists, gives the stationary solution of the corresponding stochastic partial differential equation. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the Lρ2(Rd;R1)⊗Lρ2(Rd;Rd)-valued solutions for backward doubly stochastic differential equations on finite and infinite horizon with linear growth without assuming Lipschitz conditions, but under the monotonicity condition. Therefore the solution of finite horizon problem gives the solution of the initial value problem of the corresponding stochastic partial differential equations, and the solution of the infinite horizon problem gives the stationary solution of the SPDEs according to our general result.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the regularities of solutions of nonlinear stochastic partial differential equations in the framework of Hilbert scales. Then we apply our general result to several typical nonlinear SPDEs such as stochastic Burgers and Ginzburg-Landau's equations on the real line, stochastic 2D Navier-Stokes equations in the whole space and a stochastic tamed 3D Navier-Stokes equation in the whole space, and obtain the existence of their respectively smooth solutions.

Abstract:The present paper is devoted to the study of the well-posedness of mean field BSDEs with mean reflection and nonlinear resistance. By the contraction mapping argument, we first prove that the mean-field BSDE with mean reflection and nonlinear resistance admits a unique deterministic flat local solution on a small time interval. Moreover, we build the global solution by introducing a two-step approach, which is a combination of stitching method and fixed point method. We further provide an application to the super-hedging problem with risk constraint.

Abstract:In this paper we study the existence of stationary solutions for stochastic partial differential equations. We establish a new connection between Lρ2(Rd;R1)⊗Lρ2(Rd;Rd) valued solutions of backward doubly stochastic differential equations (BDSDEs) on infinite horizon and the stationary solutions of the SPDEs. Moreover, we prove the existence and uniqueness of the solutions of BDSDEs on both finite and infinite horizons, so obtain the solutions of initial value problems and the stationary solutions (independent of any initial value) of SPDEs. The connection of the weak solutions of SPDEs and BDSDEs has independent interests in the areas of both SPDEs and BSDEs.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a multi-dimensional backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE) with oblique reflection, which is a BSDE reflected on the boundary of a special unbounded convex domain along an oblique direction, and which arises naturally in the study of optimal switching problem. The existence of the adapted solution is obtained by the penalization method, the monotone convergence, and the a priori estimates. The uniqueness is obtained by a verification method (the first component of any adapted solution is shown to be the vector value of a switching problem for BSDEs). As applications, we apply the above results to solve the optimal switching problem for stochastic differential equations of functional type, and we give also a probabilistic interpretation of the viscosity solution to a system of variational inequalities.
Non-unique ergodicity for deterministic and stochastic 3D Navier--Stokes and Euler equations

Abstract:We establish the existence of infinitely many stationary solutions, as well as ergodic stationary solutions, to the three dimensional Navier--Stokes and Euler equations in both deterministic and stochastic settings, driven by additive noise. These solutions belong to the regularity class $C(\mathbb{R};H^{\vartheta})\cap C^{\vartheta}(\mathbb{R};L^{2})$ for some $\vartheta>0$ and satisfy the equations in an analytically weak sense. The solutions to the Euler equations are obtained as vanishing viscosity limits of stationary solutions to the Navier--Stokes equations. Furthermore, regardless of their construction, every stationary solution to the Euler equations within this regularity class, which satisfies a suitable moment bound, is a limit in law of stationary analytically weak solutions to Navier--Stokes equations with vanishing viscosities. Our results are based on a novel stochastic version of the convex integration method, which provides uniform moment bounds locally in the aforementioned function spaces.
