Abstract:• Many hospitals still have gaps in their use of simulation. • Simulation is not just useful for knowledge and skill acquisition throughout the clinical environment, but it must also be used as part of a robust patient safety and process improvement program. • The myriad of uses of simulation requires nursing educators to partner with other sectors of the healthcare team to fully use simulation to affect not only education but also clinical practice and patient care.
