Abstract:In this paper, we study the Nakano-positivity and dual-Nakano-positivity of certain adjoint vector bundles associated to ample vector bundles. As applications, we get new vanishing theorems about ample vector bundles. For example, we prove that if $E$ is an ample vector bundle over a compact K\"ahler manifold $X$, $S^kE\ts \det E$ is both Nakano-positive and dual-Nakano-positive for any $k\geq 0$. Moreover, $H^{n,q}(X,S^kE\ts \det E)=H^{q,n}(X,S^kE\ts \det E)=0$ for any $q\geq 1$. In particular, if $(E,h)$ is a Griffiths-positive vector bundle, the naturally induced Hermitian vector bundle $(S^kE\ts \det E, S^kh\ts \det h)$ is both Nakano-positive and dual-Nakano-positive for any $k\geq 0$.

Abstract:In this thesis, we consider geometric properties of vector bundles arising from algebraic and Hermitian geometry. On vector bundles in algebraic geometry, such as ample, nef and globally generated vector bundles, we are able to construct positive Hermitian metrics in different senses(e.g. Griffiths-positive, Nakano-positive and dual-Nakano-positive) by L2-method and deduce many new vanishing theorems for them by analytic method instead of the Le Potier-Leray spectral sequence method. On Hermitian manifolds, we find that the second Ricci curvature tensors of various metric connections are closely related to the geometry of Hermitian manifolds. We can derive various vanishing theorems for Hermitian manifolds and also for complex vector bundles over Hermitian manifolds by their second Ricci curvature tensors. We also introduce a natural geometric flow on Hermitian manifolds by using the second Ricci curvature tensor.
Positive Kobayashi Curvature Metrics on Ample Vector Bundles

Abstract:In this short note, we prove that a complex Finsler vector bundle with positive Kobayashi curvature must be ample, which partially solves a problem of S. Kobayashi posed in 1975. As applications, a strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler manifold with positive Kobayashi curvature must be biholomorphic to the complex projective space; we also show that all Schur polynomials are numerically positive for complex Finsler vector bundles with positive Kobayashi curvature.

Abstract:Fujino gave a proof in [Fuj03] for the semi-ampleness of the moduli part in the canonical bundle formula in the case when the general fibers are K3 surfaces or Abelian varieties. We show a similar statement when the general fibers are primitive symplectic varieties with mild singularities. This answers a question of Fujino raised in the same article. Moreover, using the structure theory of varieties with trivial first Chern class, we reduce the question of semi-ampleness in the case of families of K-trivial varieties to a question when the general fibers satisfy a slightly weaker Calabi-Yau condition.

Abstract:In this short note, we give an alternative proof of the semipositivity of the Chow-Mumford line bundle for families of K-semistable log-Fano pairs, and of the nefness threeshold for the log-anti-canonical line bundle on families of K-stable log Fano pairs. We also prove a bound on the multiplicity of fibers for families of K-semistable log Fano varieties, which to the best of our knowledge is new.

Abstract:We introduce a notion of equivariant vector bundles on schemes over semirings. We do this by considering the functor of points of a locally free sheaf. We prove that every toric vector bundle on a toric scheme $X$ over an idempotent semifield equivariantly splits as a sum of toric line bundles. We then study the equivariant Picard group $\text{Pic}_G(X)$. Finally, we prove a version of Klyachko's classification theorem for toric vector bundles over an idempotent semifield.

Abstract:We prove some strong results on approximation of strongly semistable bundles with vanishing numerical Chern classes by filtrations, whose quotients are line bundles of similar slope. This generalizes some earlier results of Parameswaran-Subramanian in the curve case and Koley-Parameswaran in the surface case and it confirms the conjecture posed by Koley and Parameswaran.

Abstract:The Chow-Mumford (CM) line bundle is a functorial line bundle on the base of any family of klt Fano varieties. It is conjectured that it yields a polarization on the moduli space of K-poly-stable klt Fano varieties. Proving ampleness of the CM line bundle boils down to showing semi-positivity/positivity statements about the CM-line bundle for families with K-semi-stable/K-polystable fibers. We prove the necessary semi-positivity statements in the K-semi-stable situation, and the necessary positivity statements in the uniform K-stable situation, including in both cases variants assuming K-stability only for general fibers. Our statements work in the most general singular situation (klt singularities), and the proofs are algebraic, except the computation of the limit of a sequence of real numbers via the central limit theorem of probability theory. We also present an application to the classification of Fano varieties. Additionally, our semi-positivity statements work in general for log-Fano pairs.

Abstract:This is a sequel to "Kodaira-Saito vanishing via Higgs bundles in positive characteristic" (<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1611.09880" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1611.09880">arXiv:1611.09880</a>). However, unlike the previous paper, all the arguments here are in characteristic zero. The main result is a Kodaira vanishing theorem for semistable parabolic Higgs bundles with trivial parabolic Chern classes. This implies a general semipositivity theorem. This also implies a Kodaira-Saito vanishing theorem for complex variations of Hodge structure.

Abstract:The goal of the paper is to extend results about ample or Griffiths positive vector bundles to Kobayashi positive vector bundles. In particular, we show that the quotient bundle of a Kobayashi positive vector bundle is Kobayashi positive, and the tensor product of two Kobayashi positive vector bundles is Kobayashi positive. These results strengthen the conjectural equivalences between ampleness, Griffiths positivity, and Kobayashi positivity. The proofs rely on the convexity of Kobayashi positive Finsler metrics and the duality for convex Finsler metrics.

Abstract:In this paper we point out the natural relation between $\mathbb Q$-twisted objects of the derived category of abelian varieties, cohomological rank functions, and semihomogeneous vector bundles. We apply this to two basic classes of corresponding objects via the Fourier-Mukai-Poincaré transform: positive twists of the ideal sheaf of one point, and evaluation complexes of ample semihomogeneous vector bundles. This leads to $\mathbb Q^{\ge 0}$- graded section modules associated to line bundles on abelian varieties (containing the usual section rings), built by means of semihomogeneous vector bundles. We prove a duality relation between such section modules associated to dual polarizations. Other applications include formulas relating the thresholds of relevant cohomological rank functions appearing in this context. As a consequence we produce non-trivial obstructions to surjectivity of multiplication maps of global sections of certain line bundles.

Abstract:We treat generalizations of Kollár's torsion-freeness, vanishing theorem, and so on, for projective morphisms between complex analytic spaces as an application of the theory of variations of mixed Hodge structure. The results will play a crucial role in the theory of minimal models for projective morphisms of complex analytic spaces. In this paper, we do not use Saito's theory of mixed Hodge modules.

Abstract:Let $Q\to M$ be a principal $G$-bundle, and $B_0$ a connection on $Q$. We introduce an infinitesimal homogeneity condition for sections in an associated vector bundle $Q\times_GV$ with respect to $B_0$, and, inspired by the well known Ambrose-Singer theorem, we prove the existence of a connection which satisfies a system of parallelism conditions. We explain how this general theorem can be used to prove the known Ambrose-Singer type theorems by an appropriate choice of the initial system of <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://data.We" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> also obtain new applications, which cannot be obtained using the known formalisms, e.g. a classification theorem for locally homogeneous spinors. Finally we introduce natural local homogeneity and local symmetry conditions for triples $(g,P\stackrel{p}{\to} M,A)$ consisting of a Riemannian metric on $M$, a principal bundle on $M$, and a connection on $P$. Our main results concern locally homogeneous and locally symmetric triples, and they can be viewed as bundle versions of the Ambrose-Singer and Cartan theorem.

Abstract:We study MA-positivity, a notion of positivity relevant to a vector bundle version of the complex Monge--Ampère equation introduced in an earlier work, and show that for rank-two holomorphic bundles over complex surfaces, MA-semi-positive solutions of the vector bundle Monge--Ampère (vbMA) equation are also MA-positive. For vector bundles of rank-three and higher, over complex manifolds of dimension greater than one, we show that this positivity-preservation property need not hold for an algebraic solution of the vbMA equation treated as a purely algebraic equation at a given point. Finally, we set up a continuity path for certain classes of highly symmetric rank-two vector bundles over complex three-folds and prove a restricted version of positivity preservation which is nevertheless sufficient to prove openness along this continuity path.

Abstract:In this short note, we provide an alternative proof of a notable theorem by Narasimhan and Ramanan. The theorem states that the moduli space of $S$-equivalence classes of semistable rank $2$ vector bundles over a curve $X$ of genus $2$ with trivial determinant is isomorphic to $\mathbb{P}^3$. Our proof relies on a criterion by Bauer and Szemberg, which characterizes projective spaces among smooth Fano varieties using Seshadri constants.

Abstract:We prove that the relative log de Rham cohomology groups of a projective semistable log smooth degeneration admit a natural \textit{limiting} mixed Hodge structure. More precisely, we construct a family of increasing filtrations and a family of nilpotent endomorphisms on the relative log de Rham cohomology groups and show that they satisfy a part of good properties of a nilpotnet orbit in several variables.
