Abstract:We prove that if a smooth projective algebraic variety of dimension less or equal to three has a unit type integral $K$-motive, then its integral Chow motive is of Lefschetz type. As a consequence, the integral Chow motive is of Lefschetz type for a smooth projective variety of dimension less or equal to three that admits a full exceptional collection.

Abstract:Grothendieck–Chow motives of quadric hypersurfaces have provided many insights into the theory of quadratic forms. Subsequently, the landscape of motives of more general projective homogeneous varieties has begun to emerge. Abstract:In the present article we define an integral analogue of Chow-Künneth decomposition for étale motives. By using families of conservative functors we are able to establish a decomposition of the étale motive of commutative group schemes over a base and we relate to an integral étale Chow-Künneth decomposition of abelian varieties. For a projective variety $X$ of dimension $d$ over an algebraically closed field, we construct integral sub-motives $h^1_{\text{ét}}(X)$ and $h^{2d-1}_{\text{ét}}(X)$ of the motive $h_{\text{ét}}(X)$.

Abstract:This is a considerably expanded version of the "pure" part of our 2002 preprint. We define a category of pure birational motives over a field, depending on the choice of an adequate equivalence relation on algebraic cycles. It is obtained by "killing" the Lefschetz motive in the corresponding category of effective motives. For rational equivalence, it encompasses Bloch's decomposition of the diagonal. We study the induced Chow-Künneth decompositions in this category, and establish relationships with Rost's cycle modules and the Albanese functor for smooth projective varieties.

On L-equivalence for K3 surfaces and hyperkähler manifolds

Abstract:This paper explores the relationship between L-equivalence and D-equivalence for K3 surfaces and hyperkähler manifolds. Building on Efimov's approach using Hodge theory, we prove that very general L-equivalent K3 surfaces are D-equivalent, leveraging the Derived Torelli Theorem for K3 surfaces. Our main technical contribution is that two distinct lattice structures on an integral, irreducible Hodge structure are related by a rational endomorphism of the Hodge structure. We partially extend our results to hyperkähler fourfolds and moduli spaces of sheaves on K3 surfaces.

Derived Equivalence for Elliptic K3 Surfaces and Jacobians

Abstract:Abstract We present a detailed study of elliptic fibrations on Fourier-Mukai partners of K3 surfaces, which we call derived elliptic structures. We fully classify derived elliptic structures in terms of Hodge-theoretic data, similar to the Derived Torelli Theorem that describes Fourier-Mukai partners. In Picard rank two, derived elliptic structures are fully determined by the Lagrangian subgroups of the discriminant group. As a consequence, we prove that for a large class of Picard rank 2 elliptic K3 surfaces all Fourier-Mukai partners are Jacobians, and we partially extend this result to non-closed fields. We also show that there exist elliptic K3 surfaces with Fourier-Mukai partners, which are not Jacobians of the original K3 surface. This gives a negative answer to a question raised by Hassett and Tschinkel.

Abstract:We consider autoequivalences of the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on a K3 surface. We prove that the image of the autoequivalences has index at most two in the group of the Hodge isometries of the Mukai lattice. Motivated by homological mirror symmetry, we also consider the mirror counterpart, i.e., the symplectic version of it. In the case of rho(X) = 1, we find an explicit formula which reproduces the number of Fourier-Mukai (FM) partners from the monodromy problem of the mirror K3 family. We present an explicit example in which a monodromy action does not come from an autoequivalence of the mirror side.

Abstract:In this article we formalize and enhance Kontsevich's beautiful insight that Chow motives can be embedded into non-commutative ones after factoring out by the action of the Tate object. We illustrate the potential of this result by developing three of its manyfold applications: (1) the notions of Schur and Kimura finiteness admit an adequate extension to the realm of non-commutative motives; (2) Gillet-Soule's motivic measure admits an extension to the Grothendieck ring of non-commutative motives; (3) certain motivic zeta functions admit an intrinsic construction inside the category of non-commutative motives.

Indecomposable motivic cycles on K3 surfaces of degree 2

Abstract:In this paper we construct new indecomposable motivic cycles in the group $H^3_{\mathcal M}(X,{\mathds Q}(2))$ where X is a degree 2 K3 surface. This generalizes our construction in [Sre22] for Kummer surfaces of Abelian surfaces as well as the recent work of Ma and Sato [MS23] on degree 2 K3 surfaces.

Abstract:We construct motivic cohomology cycles in the group $H^3_{\mathcal M}(Z,{\mathbb Q}(2))$ where $Z$ is a K3 surface obtained as a double cover of a del Pezzo surface $X$ branched at a curve in $|-2K_X|$. The construction uses (-1) curves on the del Pezzo and is a generalization of a recent pre-print of Ken Sato arXiv: <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2408.09102" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2408.09102">2408.09102</a> where he considers the case of fourfold covers of ${\mathbb P}^2$ branched at a quartic curve.

Abstract:Let $X\subset ¶^5$ be a smooth cubic fourfold. A well known conjecture asserts that $X$ is rational if and only if there an Hodge theoretically associated K3 surface $S$. The surface $S$ can be associated to $X$ in two other different ways. If there is an equivalence of categories $\sA_X \simeq D^b(S,\alpha)$ where $\sA_X$ is the Kuznetsov component of $D^b(X)$ and $\alpha$ is a Brauer class, or if there is an isomorphism between the transcendental motive $t(X)$ and the (twisted ) transcendental motive of a K3 surface$S$. In this note we consider families of cubic fourfolds with a finite group of automorphisms and describe the cases where there is an associated K3 surface in one of the above senses.

Equivariant Moduli Theory on $ K3 $ Surfaces

Abstract:In this paper we study equivariant moduli spaces of sheaves on a $ K3 $ surface $ X $ under a symplectic action of a finite group. We prove that under some mild conditions, equivariant moduli spaces of sheaves on $ X $ are irreducible symplectic manifolds deformation equivalent to Hilbert schemes of points on $ X $ via a connection between Gieseker and Bridgeland moduli spaces, as well as the derived McKay correspondence.

Isotropic and numerical equivalence for Chow groups and Morava K-theories

Abstract:In this paper we prove the conjecture claiming that, over a flexible field, isotropic Chow groups coincide with numerical Chow groups (with ${\Bbb{F}}_p$-coefficients). This shows that Isotropic Chow motives coincide with Numerical Chow motives. In particular, homs between such objects are finite groups and $\otimes$ has no zero-divisors. It provides a large supply of new points for the Balmer spectrum of the Voevodsky motivic category. We also prove the Morava K-theory version of the above result, which permits to construct plenty of new points for the Balmer spectrum of the Morel-Voevodsky ${\Bbb{A}}^1$-stable homotopic category. This substantially improves our understanding of the mentioned spectra whose description is a major open problem.

On two-elementary K3 surfaces with finite automorphism group

Abstract:We study complex algebraic K3 surfaces of Picard ranks 11, 12, and 13 of finite automorphism group that admit a Jacobian elliptic fibration with a section of order two. We prove that the K3 surfaces admit a birational model isomorphic to a projective quartic hypersurface and construct geometrically the frames of all supported Jacobian elliptic fibrations. We determine the dual graphs of all smooth rational curves for these K3 surfaces, the polarizing divisors, and the embedding of the reducible fibers in each frame into the corresponding dual graph.

Abstract:We establish the complete classification of Chow motives of projective homogeneous varieties for $p$-inner semi-simple algebraic groups, with coefficients in $\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}$. Our results involve a new motivic invariant, the Tate trace of a motive, defined as a pure Tate summand of maximal rank. They apply more generally to objects of the Tate subcategory generated by upper motives of irreducible, geometrically split varieties satisfying the nilpotence principle. Using Chernousov-Gille-Merkurjev decompositions and their interpretation through Bialynicki-Birula-Hesselink-Iversen filtrations due to Brosnan, we then generalize the characterization of the motivic equivalence of inner semi-simple groups through the higher Tits $p$-indexes. We also define the motivic splitting pattern and the motivic splitting towers of a summand of the motive of a projective homogeneous variety, which correspond for quadrics to the classical splitting pattern and Knebusch tower of the underlying quadratic form.
