Abstract:In this paper, we prove the non-vanishing and some special cases of the abundance for log canonical threefold pairs over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $p > 3$. More precisely, we prove that if $(X,B)$ be a projective log canonical threefold pair over $k$ and $K_{X}+B$ is pseudo-effective, then $\kappa(K_{X}+B)\geq 0$, and if $K_{X}+B$ is nef and $\kappa(K_{X}+B)\geq 1$, then $K_{X}+B$ is semi-ample. As applications, we show that the log canonical rings of projective log canonical threefold pairs over $k$ are finitely generated and the abundance holds when the nef dimension $n(K_{X}+B)\leq 2$ or when the Albanese map $a_{X}:X\to \mathrm{Alb}(X)$ is non-trivial. Moreover, we prove that the abundance for klt threefold pairs over $k$ implies the abundance for log canonical threefold pairs over $k$.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the nonvanishing and some special cases of the abundance for log canonical threefold pairs over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic . More precisely, we prove that if be a projective log canonical threefold pair over k and is pseudo-effective, then , and if is nef and , then is semi-ample. Abstract:We show that for each algebraic space that is separated and of finite type over a field, and whose affinization is connected and reduced, there is a universal morphism to a para-abelian variety. The latter are schemes that acquire the structure of an abelian variety after some ground field extension. This generalizes classical results of Serre on universal morphisms from algebraic varieties to abelian varieties. Our proof relies on corresponding facts for the proper case, together with the structural properties of group schemes, removal of singularities by alterations, and ind-objects. It turns out that the formation of the Albanese variety commutes with base-change up to universal homeomorphisms. We also give a detailed analysis of Albanese maps for algebraic curves and algebraic groups, with special emphasis on imperfect ground fields.

Abstract:We study the structure of the Albanese map for Kähler manifolds with nef anticanonical bundle. First, we give a result for fourfolds whose Albanse torus is an elliptic curve. In the general case of any dimension, we look at two cases: The general fiber of the Albanese map is a Calabi-Yau manifold or a projective space. In the first case, we show that the manifold itself must be Calabi-Yau. In the second case, we give a more topological proof of a result by Cao and Höring which says that the manifold must be a projectivization of a numerically flat vector bundle.

Abstract:We study the birational geometry of varieties of maximal Albanese dimension in this article. Given a non-birational, generically finite, and surjective morphism f : X → Y between varieties of maximal Albanese dimension, we show that the plurigenera P m ( X ) and P m ( Y ) for some m ≥ 2 could be equal only in very restrictive situations. We also prove that the 5-th pluricanonical map of a variety of maximal Albanese dimension always induces the Iitaka model.

Abstract:In this paper, we classify irregular threefolds with numerically trivial canonical divisors in positive characteristic. For such a variety, if its Albanese dimension is not maximal, then the Albanese morphism will induce a fibration which either maps to a curve or is fibered by curves. In practice, we treat arbitrary dimensional irregular varieties with either one dimensional Albanese fiber or one dimensional Albanese image. We prove that such a variety carries another fibration transversal to its Albanese morphism (a "bi-fibration" structure), which is an analog structure of bielliptic or quasi-bielliptic surfaces. In turn, we give an explicit description of irregular threefolds with trivial canonical divisors.

Abstract:We give conditions for a uniruled variety of dimension at least 2 to be non-solid. This study provides further evidence to a conjecture by Abban and Okada on the solidity of Fano 3-folds. To complement our results we write explicit birational links from Fano 3-folds of high codimension embedded in weighted projective spaces.

Abstract:We study smooth complex projective varieties X of maximal Albanese dimension and of general type satisfying (chi)(X, O-X) = 0. We prove that the Albanese variety of X has at least three simple factors. Examples were constructed by Ein and Lazarsfeld, and we prove that in dimension 3, these examples are (up to abelian etale covers) the only ones. By results of 'lien, another source of examples is provided by varieties X of maximal Albanese dimension and of general type satisfying h(0) (X, omega(X)) = 1. Examples were constructed by Chen and Hawn, and again, we prove that in dimension 3, these examples are (up to abelian etale covers) the only ones. We also formulate a conjecture on the general structure of these varieties in all dimensions.

Abstract:We show that in positive characteristic, the Albanese morphism of normal proper varieties $X$ with $\kappa_S(X, \omega_X) = 0$ is separable, surjective, has connected fibers, and the generic fiber $F$ also satisfies $\kappa(F, \omega_F) = 0$. As a corollary, we deduce a new case of Iitaka's subadditivity conjecture for fibrations over abelian varieties, when the generic fiber has non-nilpotent Hasse-Witt matrix.

Abstract:Let $A$ be a non-isotrivial almost ordinary Abelian surface with possibly bad reductions over a global function field of odd characteristic $p$. Suppose $\Delta$ is an infinite set of positive integers, such that $\left(\frac{m}{p}\right)=1$ for $\forall m\in \Delta$. If $A$ doesn't admit any global real multiplication, we prove the existence of infinitely many places modulo which the reduction of $A$ has endomorphism ring containing $\mathbb{Z}[x]/(x^2-m)$ for some $m\in \Delta$. This generalizes the $S$-integrality conjecture for elliptic curves over number fields, as proved in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="math/0509485" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/math/0509485">arXiv:math/0509485</a>, to the setting of Abelian surfaces over global function fields. As a corollary, we show that there are infinitely many places modulo which $A$ is not simple, generalizing the main result of <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1812.11679" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1812.11679">arXiv:1812.11679</a> to the non-ordinary case.

A complete answer to Albanese base change for incomplete varieties

Abstract:Albanese varieties provide a standard tool in algebraic geometry for converting questions about varieties in general, to questions about Abelian varieties. A result of Serre provides the existence of an Albanese variety for any geometrically connected and geometrically reduced scheme of finite type over a field, and a result of Grothendieck--Conrad establishes that Albanese varieties are stable under base change of field provided the scheme is, in addition, proper. A result of Raynaud shows that base change can fail for Albanese varieties without this properness hypothesis. In this paper we show that Albanese varieties of geometrically connected and geometrically reduced schemes of finite type over a field are stable under separable field extensions. We also show that the failure of base change in general is explained by the L/K-image for purely inseparable extensions L/K.

Abstract:In this paper, we studied the map defined by a non-very ample line bundle on some special irregular varieties. As to this topic, it is well known that for a line bundle $L$ on an Abelian variety $A$, the linear system $|2L|$ is base point free, and 3L is very ample, moreover the map defined by the linear system $|2L|$ is well understood (cf. Theorem \ref{oldth}). First, we generalized this classical result to projective bundles over Abelian varieties (cf. Theorem \ref{key}). Then we studied the bicanonical map of an irregular primitive variety $X$ of general type with $dim(X) = q(X)$, in fact we got a relation between the map and the reducibility of a divisor.

Abstract:In this paper, we collect basic properties of the Albanese dimension and explain how to generalize the main theorem of [F2]: Algebraic fiber spaces whose general fibers are of maximal Albanese dimension. This paper is a supplement and a generalization of [F2]. We also prove an inequality of irregularities for algebraic fiber spaces in the appendix, which is an exposition of Fujita-Kawamata’s semi-positivity theorem.

Abstract:A conjecture, known as the Shokurov-Kollár connectedness principle, predicts the following. Let $(X,B)$ be a pair, and let $f \colon X \rightarrow S$ be a contraction with $-(K_X + B)$ nef over $S$; then, for any point $s \in S$, the intersection $f^{-1} (s) \cap \mathrm{Nklt}(X,B)$ has at most two connected components, where $\mathrm{Nklt}(X,B)$ denotes the non-klt locus of $(X,B)$. This conjecture has been extensively studied in characteristic zero, and it has been recently settled in that context. In this work, we consider this conjecture in the setup of positive characteristic algebraic geometry. We prove this conjecture holds for threefolds in characteristic $p> 5$, and, under the same assumptions, we characterize the cases in which $\mathrm{Nklt}(X,B)$ fails to be connected.

Abstract:Given a bounded constructible complex of sheaves on a complex Abelian variety, we prove an equality relating the cohomology jump loci of and its singular support. As an application, we identify two subsets of the set of holomorphic 1-forms with zeros on a complex smooth projective irregular variety X ; one from Green-Lazarsfeld's cohomology jump loci and one from the Kashiwara's estimates for singular supports. This result is related to Kotschick's conjecture about the equivalence between the existence of nowhere vanishing global holomorphic 1-forms and the existence of a fibre bundle structure over the circle. Our results give a conjecturally equivalent formulation using singular support, which is equivalent to a criterion involving cohomology jump loci proposed by Schreieder. As another application, we reprove a recent result proved by Schreieder and Yang; namely if X has simple Albanese variety and admits a fibre bundle structure over the circle, then the Albanese morphism cohomologically behaves like a smooth morphism with respect to integer coefficients. In a related direction, we address the question whether the set of 1-forms that vanish somewhere is a finite union of linear subspaces of . We show that this is indeed the case for forms admitting zero locus of codimension 1.

Abstract:We establish the Noether inequality for projective $3$-folds. More precisely, we prove that the inequality $${\rm vol}(X)\geq \frac{4}{3}p_g(X)-{\frac{10}{3}}$$ holds for all projective $3$-folds $X$ of general type with either $p_g(X)\leq 4$ or $p_g(X)\geq 27$, where $p_g(X)$ is the geometric genus and ${\rm vol}(X)$ is the canonical volume. This inequality is optimal due to known examples found by M. Kobayashi in 1992.

Abstract:We give an algebraic characterization of the affine $3$-space over an algebraically closed field of arbitrary characteristic. We use this characterization to reformulate the following question. Let $$A=k[X, Y, Z, T]/(XY+Z^{p^e}+T+T^{sp})$$ where $p^e\nmid sp$, $sp\nmid p^e$, $e, s\geq 1$ and $k$ is an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic $p$. Is $A= k^{[3]}$? We prove some results on ML and ML$^*$ invariants and use them to prove a special case of the strong cancellation of $k^{[2]}$.

Abstract:Given a perverse sheaf on the moduli stack of principally polarized abelian varieties or the moduli stack of smooth curves with n marked points over a field of characteristic zero, we prove that the (orbifold) Euler characteristic is nonnegative. For constant coefficients, this follows immediately from formulas of Harer-Zagier and Harder. Our proof is different and in the case of abelian varieties uses log Dubson-Kashiwara plus the fact that Hodge bundles are nef. For curves, we require an additional inequality established using Beilinson's gluing construction. The first main result is shown to be false in positive characteristic.
