Abstract:In this text, we exhibit the quiver Plücker relations for a quiver Grassmannian and show that they describe the quiver Grassmannian as a closed subscheme of a product of usual Grassmannians.

Abstract:Grassmannians are of fundamental importance in projective geometry, algebraic geometry, and representation theory. A vast literature has grown up utilizing using many different languages of higher mathematics, such as multilinear and tensor algebra, matroid theory, and Lie groups and Lie algebras. Here we explore the basic idea of the Plucker relations in Clifford's geometric algebra. We discover that the Plucker Relations can be fully characterized in terms of the geometric product, without the need for a confusing hodgepodge of many different formalisms and mathematical traditions found in the literature.

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{k}$ be an algebraically closed field. Connections between representations of the generalized Kronecker quivers $K_r$ and vector bundles on $\mathbb{P}^{r-1}$ have been known for quite some time. This article is concerned with a particular aspect of this correspondence, involving more generally Steiner bundles on Grassmannians $\mathrm{Gr}_d(\mathbb{k}^r)$ and certain full subcategories $\mathrm{rep}_{\mathrm{proj}}(K_r,d)$ of relative projective $K_r$-representations. Building on a categorical equivalence first explicitly established by Jardim and Prata, we employ representation-theoretic techniques provided by Auslander-Reiten theory and reflection functors to organize indecomposable Steiner bundles in a manner that facilitates the study of bundles enjoying certain properties such as uniformity and homogeneity. Conversely, computational results on Steiner bundles motivate investigations in $\mathrm{rep}_{\mathrm{proj}}(K_r,d)$, which elicit the conceptual sources of some recent work on the subject.

Abstract:We study relations between cluster algebra invariants and link invariants. First, we show that several constructions of positroid links (permutation links, Richardson links, grid diagram links, plabic graph links) give rise to isotopic links. For a subclass of permutations arising from concave curves, we also provide isotopies with the corresponding Coxeter links. Second, we associate a point count polynomial to an arbitrary locally acyclic quiver. We conjecture an equality between the top $a$-degree coefficient of the HOMFLY polynomial of a plabic graph link and the point count polynomial of its planar dual quiver. We prove this conjecture for leaf recurrent plabic graphs, which includes reduced plabic graphs and plabic fences as special cases.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to clarify the connection between certain structures from the theory of totally nonnegative Grassmannians, quiver Grassmannians for cyclic quivers and the theory of local models of Shimura varieties. More precisely, we generalize the construction from our previous paper relating the combinatorics and geometry of quiver Grassmannians to that of the totally nonnegative Grassmannians. The varieties we are interested in serve as realizations of local models of Shimura varieties. We exploit quiver representation techniques to study the quiver Grassmannians of interest and, in particular, to describe explicitly embeddings into affine flag varieties which allow us to realize our quiver Grassmannians as a union of Schubert varieties therein.

Abstract:We compare and generalise the various geometric constructions (due to Ringel, Lusztig, Schofield, Bozec, Davison...) of the unipotent generalised Kac–Moody algebra associated with an arbitrary quiver. These constructions are interconnected through several geometric operations, including the stalk Euler characteristic of constructible complexes, the characteristic cycle, the Euler obstruction map, and the intersection multiplicities of Lagrangian subvarieties. We provide a proof that these geometric realisations hold for the integral form of the Lie algebra. Furthermore, by modifying the generators of the enveloping algebra, we ensure compatibility with the natural coproducts that can be defined in terms of restriction diagrams. As a result, we establish that the top cohomological Hall algebra of the strictly seminilpotent stack is isomorphic to the positive part of the enveloping algebra of the generalised Kac-Moody algebra associated with the quiver. This appears to be one of the cornerstones needed to describe the BPS algebra of very general 2-Calabi–Yau categories, which is the subject of the author's work on BPS Lie algebras for 2-Calabi–Yau categories with Davison and Schlegel Mejia.

Abstract:A quiver representation assigns a vector space to each vertex, and a linear map to each arrow. When one considers the category $\textrm{Vect}(\mathbb{F}_1)$ of vector spaces ``over $\mathbb{F}_1$'' (the field with one element), one obtains $\mathbb{F}_1$-representations of a quiver. In this paper, we study representations of a quiver over the field with one element in connection to coefficient quivers. To be precise, we prove that the category $\textrm{Rep}(Q,\mathbb{F}_1)$ is equivalent to the (suitably defined) category of coefficient quivers over $Q$. This provides a conceptual way to see Euler characteristics of a class of quiver Grassmannians as the number of ``$\mathbb{F}_1$-rational points'' of quiver Grassmannians. We generalize techniques originally developed for string and band modules to compute the Euler characteristics of quiver Grassmannians associated to $\mathbb{F}_1$-representations. These techniques apply to a large class of $\mathbb{F}_1$-representations, which we call the $\mathbb{F}_1$-representations with finite nice length: we prove sufficient conditions for an $\mathbb{F}_1$-representation to have finite nice length, and classify such representations for certain families of quivers. Finally, we explore the Hall algebras associated to $\mathbb{F}_1$-representations of quivers. We answer the question of how a change in orientation affects the Hall algebra of nilpotent $\mathbb{F}_1$-representations of a quiver with bounded representation type. We also discuss Hall algebras associated to representations with finite nice length, and compute them for certain families of quivers.

Symplectic Grassmannians and Cyclic Quivers

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to extend the quiver Grassmannian description of certain degenerations of Grassmann varieties to the symplectic case. We introduce a symplectic version of quiver Grassmannians studied in our previous papers and prove a number of results on these projective algebraic varieties. First, we construct a cellular decomposition of the symplectic quiver Grassmannians in question and develop combinatorics needed to compute Euler characteristics and Poincaré polynomials. Second, we show that the number of irreducible components of our varieties coincides with the Euler characteristic of the classical symplectic Grassmannians. Third, we describe the automorphism groups of the underlying symplectic quiver representations and show that the cells are the orbits of this group. Lastly, we provide an embedding into the affine flag varieties for the affine symplectic group.

The product of simple modules over KLR algebras and quiver Grassmannians

Abstract:In this paper, we study the product of two simple modules over KLR algebras using the quiver Grassmannians for Dynkin quivers. More precisely, we establish a bridge between the Induction functor on the category of modules of KLR algebras and the irreducible components of quiver Grassmannians for Dynkin quivers via a sort of extension varieties, which is an analogue of the extension group in Hall algebras. As a result, we give a necessary condition when the product of two simple modules over a KLR algebra is simple using the set of irreducible components of quiver Grassmannians. In particular, in some special cases, we provide a proof for the conjecture recently proposed by Lapid and Minguez.

Abstract:Chow rings of flag varieties have bases of Schubert cycles $\sigma_u$, indexed by permutations. A major problem of algebraic combinatorics is to give a positive combinatorial formula for the structure constants of this basis. The celebrated Littlewood-Richardson rules solve this problem for special products $\sigma_u \cdot \sigma_v$ where $u$ and $v$ are $p$-Grassmannian permutations. Building on work of Wyser, we introduce backstable clans to prove such a rule for the problem of computing the product $\sigma_u \cdot \sigma_v$ when $u$ is $p$-inverse Grassmannian and $v$ is $q$-inverse Grassmannian. By establishing several new families of linear relations among structure constants, we further extend this result to obtain a positive combinatorial rule for $\sigma_u \cdot \sigma_v$ in the case that $u$ is covered in weak Bruhat order by a $p$-inverse Grassmannian permutation and $v$ is a $q$-inverse Grassmannian permutation.

Abstract:We propose a definition of expander representations of quivers, generalizing dimension (or linear algebra) expanders, as a qualitative refinement of slope stability. We prove existence of uniform expander representations for any wild quiver over an algebraically closed base field, using the concept of general subrepresentations and spectral properties of Cartan matrices.

Abstract:In this article we explain how the coordinate ring of each (open) Schubert variety in the Grassmannian can be identified with a cluster algebra, whose combinatorial structure is encoded using (target labelings of) Postnikov's plabic graphs. This result generalizes a theorem of Scott [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc. (3) 92 (2006) 345–380] for the Grassmannian, and proves a folklore conjecture for Schubert varieties that has been believed by experts since Scott's result [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc. (3) 92 (2006) 345–380], though the statement was not formally written down until Muller–Speyer explicitly conjectured it [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc. (3) 115 (2017) 1014–1071]. To prove this conjecture we use a result of Leclerc [Adv. Math. 300 (2016) 190–228] who used the module category of the preprojective algebra to prove that coordinate rings of many Richardson varieties in the complete flag variety can be identified with cluster algebras. Our proof also uses a construction of Karpman [J. Combin. Theory Ser. A 142 (2016) 113–146] to build plabic graphs associated to reduced expressions. We additionally generalize our result to the setting of skew‐Schubert varieties; the latter result uses generalized plabic graphs, that is, plabic graphs whose boundary vertices need not be labeled in cyclic order.

Abstract:The degree of the Grassmannian with respect to the Plücker embedding is well-known. However, the Plücker embedding, while ubiquitous in pure mathematics, is almost never used in applied mathematics. In applied mathematics, the Grassmannian is usually embedded as projection matrices $\operatorname{Gr}(k,\mathbb{R}^n) \cong \{P \in \mathbb{R}^{n \times n} : P^{\scriptscriptstyle\mathsf{T}} = P = P^2,\; \operatorname{tr}(P) = k\}$ or as involution matrices $\operatorname{Gr}(k,\mathbb{R}^n) \cong \{X \in \mathbb{R}^{n \times n} : X^{\scriptscriptstyle\mathsf{T}} = X,\; X^2 = I,\; \operatorname{tr}(X)=2k - n\}$. We will determine an explicit expression for the degree of the Grassmannian with respect to these embeddings. In so doing, we resolved a conjecture of Devriendt--Friedman--Sturmfels about the degree $\operatorname{Gr}(2, \mathbb{R}^n)$ and in fact generalized it to $\operatorname{Gr}(k, \mathbb{R}^n)$. We also proved a set theoretic variant of another conjecture of Devriendt--Friedman--Sturmfels about the limit of $\operatorname{Gr}(k,\mathbb{R}^n)$ in the sense of Gröbner degneration.

Abstract:The Plücker matrix BL(n,E) of the Lagrangian Grassmannian L(n,E), is determined by the linear envelope ⟨L(n,E)⟩ of the Lagrangian Grassmannian. The linear envelope ⟨L(n,E)⟩ is the intersection of linear relations of Plücker of Lagrangian Grassmannian, defined here. The Plücker matrix BL(n,E) is a direct sum of the incidence matrix of the configuration of subsets. These matrices determine the isotropy index rn and rn-atlas which are invariants associated with the symplectic vector space E.

Abstract:Let HH_{ab}(H) be the equivariant Hilbert scheme parametrizing the zero dimensional subschemes of the affine plane k^2, fixed under the one dimensional torus T_{ab}={(t^{-b},t^a), t\in k^*} and whose Hilbert function is H. This Hilbert scheme admits a natural stratification in Schubert cells which extends the notion of Schubert cells on Grassmannians. However, the incidence relations between the cells become more complicated than in the case of Grassmannians. In this paper, we give a necessary condition for the closure of a cell to meet another cell. In the particular case of Grassmannians, it coincides with the well known necessary and sufficient incidence condition. There is no known example showing that the condition wouldn't be sufficient.

Abstract:In the present paper we study the geometry of the closed Białynicki-Birula cells of the quiver Grassmannians associated to a nilpotent representation of a cyclic quiver defined by a single matrix. For the special case, where we choose subrepresentations of dimension $\mathbf{1}=(1,\dots,1)$, the main result of this paper is that the closed Białynicki-Birula cells are smooth. We also discuss the multiplicative structure of the cohomology ring of such spaces. Namely, we describe the so-called Knutson-Tao basis in context to the basis of equivariant cohomology that is dual to fundamental classes in equivariant homology.

The affine Grassmannian as a presheaf quotient

Abstract:For a reductive group $G$ over a ring $A$, its affine Grassmannian $\mathrm{Gr}_G$ plays important roles in a wide range of subjects and is typically defined as the étale sheafification of the presheaf quotient $LG/L^+G$ of the loop group $LG$ by its positive loop subgroup $L^+G$. We show that the Zariski sheafification gives the same result. Moreover, for totally isotropic $G$ (for instance, for quasi-split $G$), we show that no sheafification is needed at all: $\mathrm{Gr}_G$ is already the presheaf quotient $LG/L^+G$, which seems new already in the classical case of $\mathrm{GL}_n$ over $\mathbb{C}$. For totally isotropic $G$, we also show that the affine Grassmannian may be formed using polynomial loops. We deduce all of these results from the study of $G$-torsors on $\mathbb{P}^1_A$ that is ultimately built on the geometry of $\mathrm{Bun}_G$.
