Abstract:We prove the Trung's conjecture about Segre's upper bound for s equimultiple fat points not on a linear (r-1)-space, s\le r+3, by algebraic method used in [3]. This method also may used to research other cases of fat points.

Abstract:We prove invariant of the regularity index of fat points under changes of the linear subspace containing the support of the fat points. Then we show that Segre's bound is attained by any set of s non-degenerate equimultiple fat points in $\mathbb P^n$, $s\le n+3$. We also give an example showing that there always exists a set of n+4 non-degenerate equimultiple fat points in $\mathbb P^n$ such that Segre's bound is not attained.

Abstract:Consider a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$ and positive integers $d,m,r$ with $1\leq r\leq \binom{m+d}{d}$. Let $S_d(m)$ be the $\mathbb{F}_q$ vector space of all homogeneous polynomials of degree $d$ in $X_0,\dots,X_m$. Let $e_r(d,m)$ be the maximum number of $\mathbb{F}_q$-rational points in the vanishing set of $W$ as $W$ varies through all subspaces of $S_d(m)$ of dimension $r$. Ghorpade, Datta and Beelen had conjectured an exact formula of $e_r(d,m)$ when $q\geq d+1$. We prove that their conjectured formula is true when $q$ is sufficiently large in terms of $m,d,r$. The problem of determining $e_r(d,m)$ is equivalent to the problem of computing the $r^{th}$ generalized hamming weights of projective the Reed Muller code $PRM_q(d,m)$. It is also equivalent to the problem of determining the maximum number of points on sections of Veronese varieties by linear subvarieties of codimension $r$.

Abstract:The first goal of this paper is to prove a sharp condition to guarantee of having a positive proportion of all congruence classes of triangles in given sets in ūĚĒĹ q 2 . More precisely, for A , B , C ‚äā ūĚĒĹ q 2 , if | A | ‚ĀĘ | B | ‚ĀĘ | C | 1 2 ‚Čę q 4 , then for any őĽ ‚ąą ūĚĒĹ q ‚ąĖ { 0 } , the number of congruence classes of triangles with vertices in A √ó B √ó C and one side-length őĽ is at least ‚Čę q 2 . In higher dimensions, we obtain similar results for k -simplex but under a slightly stronger condition. Compared to the well-known L 2 method in the literature, our approach offers better results in both conditions and conclusions. When A = B = C , the second goal of this paper is to give a new and unified proof of the best current results on the distribution of simplex due to Bennett, Hart, Iosevich, Pakianathan and Rudnev (2017) and McDonald (2020). The third goal of this paper is to study a Furstenberg-type problem associated to a set of rigid motions. The main ingredients in our proofs are incidence bounds between points and rigid motions. While the incidence bounds for large sets are due to the author and Semin Yoo (2023), the bound for small sets will be proved by using a point‚Äďline incidence bound in ūĚĒĹ q 3 due to Koll√°r (2015).

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the trace set of a Fuchsian lattice. There are two results of this paper: the first is that for a non-uniform lattice, we prove Scmutz's conjecture: the trace set of a Fuchsian lattice exhibits linear growth if and only if the lattice is arithmetic. Additionally, we show that for a fixed surface group of genus bigger than 2 and any positive number $\epsilon$, te set of cocompact lattice embedding such that their growth rate of trace set exceeds $n^{2-\epsilon}$ has positive Weil-Petersson volume. We also provide an asymptotic analysis of the volume of this set.

Abstract:We consider 0-dimensional schemes supported at a single point in n-space that are m-symmetric, i.e. that intersect any smooth curve passing through the point with length m, and the ones among them that are maximal with respect to inclusion (called m-superfat points). We study properties of such schemes, in particular for n=2. We give a first application of the simplest such schemes, namely 2-superfat points in the plane, by studying varieties defined by them on Veronese and Segre-Veronese varieties and the (symmetric or partially symmetric) tensors they parameterize.

Abstract:Let $f^{(r)}(n;s,k)$ be the maximum number of edges in an $n$-vertex $r$-uniform hypergraph not containing a subhypergraph with $k$ edges on at most $s$ vertices. Recently, Delcourt and Postle, building on work of Glock, Joos, Kim, Kühn, Lichev and Pikhurko, proved that the limit $\lim_{n \to \infty} n^{-2} f^{(3)}(n;k+2,k)$ exists for all $k \ge 2$, solving an old problem of Brown, Erdős and Sós (1973). Meanwhile, Shangguan and Tamo asked the more general question of determining if the limit $\lim_{n \to \infty} n^{-t} f^{(r)}(n;k(r-t)+t,k)$ exists for all $r>t\ge 2$ and $k \ge 2$. Here we make progress on their question. For every even $k$, we determine the value of the limit when $r$ is sufficiently large with respect to $k$ and $t$. Moreover, we show that the limit exists for $k \in \{5,7\}$ and all $r > t \ge 2$.

Abstract:Fix an integer $s \ge 2$. Let $\mathcal{P}$ be a set of $n$ points and let $\mathcal{L}$ be a set of lines in a linear space such that no line in $\mathcal{L}$ contains more than $(n-1)/(s-1)$ points of $\mathcal{P}$. Suppose that for every $s$-set $S$ in $\mathcal{P}$, there is a pair of points in $S$ that lies in a line from $\mathcal{L}$. We prove that $|\mathcal{L}| \ge (n-1)/(s-1)+s-1$ for $n$ large, and this is sharp when $n-1$ is a multiple of $s-1$. This generalizes the de Bruijn-Erd\H os theorem which is the case $s=2$. Our result is proved in the more general setting of linear hypergraphs.

Abstract:In the period 1994-1999 Thas wrote a series of three papers on generalized quadrangles of order $(s, s^2)$. In this Part IV we classify all finite translation generalized quadrangles of order $(s, s^2)$ having a kernel of size at least 3, containing a regular line not incident with the translation point. There are several applications on generalized quadrangles of order $(s, s^2)$ having at least 2 translation points, on Moufang quadrangles, and concerning the theorem of Fong and Seitz classifying all groups with a BN-pair of rank 2.
On an extremal problem for locally sparse multigraphs

Abstract:A multigraph $G$ is an $(s,q)$-graph if every $s$-set of vertices in $G$ supports at most $q$ edges of $G$, counting multiplicities. Mubayi and Terry posed the problem of determining the maximum of the product of the edge-multiplicities in an $(s,q)$-graph on $n$ vertices. We give an asymptotic solution to this problem for the family $(s,q)=(2r, a\binom{2r}{2}+\mathrm{ex}(2r, K_{r+1})-1 )$ with $r, a\in \mathbb{Z}_{\geq 2}$. This greatly generalises previous results on the problem due to Mubayi and Terry and to Day, Treglown and the author, who between them had resolved the special case $r=2$. Our result asymptotically confirms an infinite family of cases in (and overcomes a major obstacle to a resolution of) a conjecture of Day, Treglown and the author.

Abstract:According to the size of sets for doubling measures, subsets of R-n can be divided into six classes. Sets in these six classes are respectively called very thin, fairly thin, minimally thin, minimally fat, fairly fat, and very fat. In our main results, we prove that if a quasisymmetric mapping f of [0,1] maps a uniform Cantor set E onto a uniform Cantor set f (E), then E is of positive Lebesgue measure if and only if f(E) is so. Also, we prove that the product of n uniform Cantor sets is very fat if and only if each of the factors is very fat, and that the product is minimally fat if and only if one of the factors is minimally fat.

Abstract:Let denote the space of cusp forms of even integer weight k and level N . We prove an asymptotic for the Petersson trace formula for under an appropriate condition. Using the non-vanishing of a Kloosterman sum involved in the asymptotic, we give a lower bound for discrepancy in the Sato–Tate distribution for levels not divisible by 8. This generalizes a result of Jung and Sardari (Math Ann 378(1–2):513–557, 2020, Theorem 1.6) for squarefree levels. An analogue of the Sato-Tate distribution was obtained by Omar and Mazhouda (Ramanujan J 20(1):81–89, 2009, Theorem 3) for the distribution of eigenvalues where f is a Hecke eigenform and p is a prime number. As an application of the above-mentioned asymptotic, we obtain a sequence of weights such that discrepancy in the analogue distribution obtained in Omar and Mazhouda (Ramanujan J 20(1):81–89, 2009) has a lower bound.

On a Conjecture of Erdős on Locally Sparse Steiner Triple Systems

Abstract:A famous theorem of Kirkman says that there exists a Steiner triple system of order n if and only if n ≡ 1,3 mod 6. In 1973, Erdős conjectured that one can find so-called 'sparse' Steiner triple systems. Roughly speaking, the aim is to have at most j−3 triples on every set of j points, which would be best possible. (Triple systems with this sparseness property are also referred to as having high girth.) We prove this conjecture asymptotically by analysing a natural generalization of the triangle removal process. Our result also solves a problem posed by Lefmann, Phelps and Rödl as well as Ellis and Linial in a strong form, and answers a question of Krivelevich, Kwan, Loh and Sudakov. Moreover, we pose a conjecture which would generalize the Erdős conjecture to Steiner systems with arbitrary parameters and provide some evidence for this.

Abstract:We provide conjectural necessary and (separately) sufficient conditions for the Hilbert scheme of points of a given length to have the maximum dimension tangent space at a point. The sufficient condition is claimed for 3D and reduces the original problem to a problem in convex geometry. Proving either of the two conjectural statements will in particular resolve a long-standing conjecture by Briançon and Iarrobino back in the '70s for the case of the powers of the maximal ideal. Furthermore, for specific classes of lengths, we conjecturally classify points satisfying the conjectural sufficient conditions. This in particular (conjecturally) provides many new explicit families of examples of maximum dimension tangent space at a point of the Hilbert schemes of points of lengths strictly between two consecutive tetrahedral numbers (3+k3) .

A remark on a theorem of Narasimhan and Ramanan

Abstract:In this short note, we provide an alternative proof of a notable theorem by Narasimhan and Ramanan. The theorem states that the moduli space of $S$-equivalence classes of semistable rank $2$ vector bundles over a curve $X$ of genus $2$ with trivial determinant is isomorphic to $\mathbb{P}^3$. Our proof relies on a criterion by Bauer and Szemberg, which characterizes projective spaces among smooth Fano varieties using Seshadri constants.
