Abstract:In this paper, we prove the following automatic adjoint theorem: For any sequence spaces E ( X ) E(X) and F ( Y ) F(Y) , if E ( X ) E(X) has the signed-weak gliding hump property and A A is an infinite matrix which transforms E ( X ) E(X) into F ( Y ) F(Y) , then the transpose matrix A ′ A’ of A A transforms F ( Y ) β F(Y)^\beta into E ( X ) β E(X)^\beta , and for any x ∈ E ( X ) x\in E(X) and T ∈ F ( Y ) β T\in F(Y)^\beta , [ A x , T ] = [ x , A ′ T ] [Ax,T]=[x,A’T] . That is, the adjoint operator of A A automatically exists and is just the transpose matrix A ′ A’ of A A . From the theorem we obtain a class of infinite matrix topological algebras ( λ , μ ) (\lambda ,\mu ) , and prove also a λ \lambda -multiplier convergence theorem of Orlicz-Pettis type. The theorem improves substantially the famous Stiles’ Orlicz-Pettis theorem.

Abstract:We investigate relative property (T) of Kazhdan-Margulis for ( SL 2 ( R ) ⋉ R n , R n ) , mainly where R is a discrete finitely generated commutative ring. The action of SL 2 ( R ) on R n is defined through admissible lattices of the irreducible representations of sl 2 ( C ) . Both positive and negative results are obtained. Applications of these results will be given, including the establishment of property (T) for certain Kac-Moody type groups over commutative rings.

Abstract:We prove a generalization of Harish-Chandra's character orthogonality relations for discrete series to arbitrary admissible representations for real reductive Lie groups. This result is an analogue of a conjecture by Kazhdan for p-adic reductive groups proved by Bezrukavnikov and by Schneider and Stuhler.

Abstract:In this short note, we state a stable and a $\tau$-reduced version of the second Brauer-Thrall Conjecture. The former is a slight strengthening of a brick version of the second Brauer-Thrall Conjecture raised by Mousavand and Schroll-Treffinger-Valdivieso. The latter is stated in terms of Geiss-Leclerc-Schröer's generically $\tau$-reduced components and provides a geometric interpretation of a question of Demonet. It follows that the stable second Brauer-Thrall Conjecture implies our $\tau$-reduced second Brauer-Thrall Conjecture. Finally, we prove the reversed implication for the class of E-tame algebras recently introduced by Asai-Iyama.

Abstract:We study the ring of invariants for a finite dimensional representation $V$ of the group $C_2$ of order 2 in characteristic $2$. Let $\sigma$ denote a generator of $C_2$ and $\{x_1,y_1 \dots, x_m,y_m\}$ a basis of $V^*$. Then $\sigma(x_i) = x_i$, and $\sigma(y_i) = y_i + x_i$. To our knowledge, this ring (for any prime $p$) was first studied by David Richman in 1990. He gave a first main theorem for $(V_2, C_2)$, that is, he proved that the ring of invariants when $p=2$ is generated by $\{x_i, N_i = y_i^2 + x_iy_i, tr(A) | 2 \le |A| \le m\}$ where $A \subset \{0,1\}^m$, $y^A = y_1^{a_1} y_2^{a_2} \cdots y_m^{a_m}$ and $tr(A) = y^A + (y_1+x_1)^{a_1}(y_2+x_2)^{a_2} \cdots (y_m+x_m)^{a_m}.$ In this paper, we prove the second main theorem for $(V_2, C_2)$, that is, we show that all relations between these generators are generated by relations of type I: $\sum_{I \subset A } x^I tr(A-I)$ and of type II: $tr(A) tr(B) = \sum_{L < I} x^{I-L} N^L tr(I-L+J+K) + N^I \sum_{L < J} x^{J-L} tr(L+K)$ for all $m$. We also derive relations of type III which are simpler and can be used in place of the relations of type II.

Representations of $SL_2(F)$

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime number, $F $ a non-archimedean local field with residue characteristic $p$, and $R$ an algebraically closed field of characteristic different from $ p$. We thoroughly investigate the irreducible smooth $R$-representations of $SL_2(F)$. The components of an irreducible smooth $R$-representation $\Pi$ of $GL_2(F)$ restricted to $SL_2(F)$ form an $L$-packet $L(\Pi)$. We use the classification of such $\Pi$ to determine the cardinality of $L(\Pi)$, which is $1,2$ or $4$. When $p=2$ we have to use the Langlands correspondence for $GL_2(F)$. When $\ell$ is a prime number distinct from $p$ and $R=\mathbb Q_\ell^{ac}$, we establish the behaviour of an integral $L$-packet under reduction modulo $\ell$. We prove a Langlands correspondence for $SL_2(F)$, and even an enhanced one when the characteristic of $R$ is not $2$. Finally, pursuing a theme of \cite{HV23}, which studied the case of inner forms of $GL_n(F)$, we show that near identity an irreducible smooth R-representation of $SL_2(F)$ is, up to a finite dimensional representation, isomorphic to a sum of $1,2$ or $4$ representations in an $L$-packet of size $4$ (when $p$ is odd there is only one such $L$-packet).

Abstract:We study the Knapp-Stein R-groups of the inner forms of SL(N) over a non-archimedean local field of characteristic zero, by using restriction from the inner forms of GL(N). As conjectured by Arthur, these R-groups are then shown to be naturally isomorphic to their dual avatars defined in terms of L-parameters. The 2-cocycles attached to R-groups can be described as well. The proofs are based on the results of K. Hiraga and H. Saito. We also construct examples to illustrate some new phenomena which do not occur in the case of SL(N) or classical groups.

Abstract:We prove the second adjointness in the setting of the categorical local Langlands correspondence. Moreover, we study the relation between Eisenstein series and cuspidal supports and present a conjectural characterization of irreducible smooth representations with supercuspidal $L$-parameters regarding geometric constant terms. The main technical ingredient is an induction principle for geometric Eisenstein series which allows us to reduce to the situations already treated in the literature.

Abstract:We use the newly developed technique of inverse quantum hamiltonian reduction to investigate the representation theory of the simple affine vertex algebra $\mathsf{A}_{2}(\mathsf{u},2)$ associated to $\mathfrak{sl}_{3}$ at level $\mathsf{k} = -3+\frac{\mathsf{u}}{2}$, for $\mathsf{u}\ge3$ odd. Starting from the irreducible modules of the corresponding simple Bershadsky-Polyakov vertex operator algebras, we show that inverse reduction constructs all irreducible lower-bounded weight $\mathsf{A}_{2}(\mathsf{u},2)$-modules. This proceeds by first constructing a complete set of coherent families of fully relaxed highest-weight $\mathsf{A}_{2}(\mathsf{u},2)$-modules and then noting that the reducible members of these families degenerate to give all remaining irreducibles. Using this fully relaxed construction and the degenerations, we deduce modular S-transforms for certain natural generalised characters of these irreducibles and their spectral flows. With this modular data in hand, we verify that the (conjectural) standard Verlinde formula predicts Grothendieck fusion rules with nonnegative-integer multiplicities.

Adjoints in symmetric squares of Lie algebra representations

Abstract:*Caveat: we learned post-factum that most of these results are not novel. We are keeping this paper for continuity reasons.* Given finite-dimensional complex representations $V$ and $V'$ of a simply-connected semisimple compact Lie group $G$, we determine the dimension of the $G$-invariant subspace of $\mathrm{adj}(G)\otimes V\otimes V'$, of $\mathrm{adj}(G)\otimes S^2 V$, and of $\mathrm{adj}(G)\otimes\Lambda^2 V$, where $\mathrm{adj}(G)$ is the adjoint representation. In other words we derive the multiplicity with which summands of $\mathrm{adj}(G)$ appear in a tensor product $V \otimes V'$ or (anti)symmetric square $S^2 V$ or $\Lambda^2 V$. We find in particular that the dimension of the $G$-invariant subspace of $\mathrm{adj}(G)\otimes S^2 V$ is larger than (resp. smaller or equal to) that of $\mathrm{adj}(G)\otimes\Lambda^2 V$ for a symplectic (resp. orthogonal) representation $V$.

Seminormal forms for the Temperley-Lieb algebra

Abstract:Let ${\mathbb{TL}_n^{\! \mathbb Q}} $ be the rational Temperley-Lieb algebra, with loop parameter $ 2 $. In the first part of the paper we study the seminormal idempotents $ E_{ \mathfrak{t}} $ for ${\mathbb{TL}_n^{\! \mathbb Q}}$ for $ \mathfrak{t} $ running over two-column standard tableaux. Our main result is here a concrete combinatorial construction of $ E_{\mathfrak{t}} $ using Jones-Wenzl idempotents $ {\mathbf{JW}_{\! k}} $ for ${\mathbb{TL}_k^{\! \mathbb Q}}$ where $ k \le n $. In the second part of the paper we consider the Temperley-Lieb algebra ${\mathbb{TL}_n^{\! {\mathbb F}_p}}$ over the finite field $ {\mathbb F}_p$, where $ p>2$. The KLR-approach to ${\mathbb{TL}_n^{\! {\mathbb F}_p}}$ gives rise to an action of a symmetric group $ \mathfrak{S}_m$ on ${\mathbb{TL}_n^{\! {\mathbb F}_p}}$, for some $ m < n $. We show that the $ E_{ \mathfrak{t}} $'s from the first part of the paper are simultaneous eigenvectors for the associated Jucys-Murphy elements for $ \mathfrak{S}_m$. This leads to a KLR-interpretation of the $p$-Jones-Wenzl idempotent $ ^{p}\!{\mathbf{JW}_{\! n}} $ for ${\mathbb{TL}_n^{\! {\mathbb F}_p}}$, that was introduced recently by Burull, Libedinsky and Sentinelli.

Abstract:We construct an explicit abelian model for the operation of tensor $2$-product of $2$-representations of $\mathfrak{sl}_{2}^{+}$, specifically the product of a simple $2$-representation $\mathcal{L}(1)$ with a given abelian $2$-representation $\mathcal{V}$ taken from the $2$-category of algebras. We study the case $\mathcal{V}=\mathcal{L}(1)$ in detail, and we show that the $2$-product in this case recovers the expected structure. Our construction partially verifies a conjecture of Rouquier from 2008.

Abstract:Let $K$ be a field of characteristic zero and let $\mathfrak{sl}_2 (K)$ be the 3-dimensional simple Lie algebra over $K$. In this paper we describe a finite basis for the $\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded identities of the adjoint representation of $\mathfrak{sl}_2 (K)$, or equivalently, the $\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded identities for the pair $(M_3(K), \mathfrak{sl}_2 (K))$. We work with the canonical grading on $\mathfrak{sl}_2 (K)$ and the only nontrivial $\mathbb{Z}_2$-grading of the associative algebra $M_3(K)$ induced by that on $\mathfrak{sl}_2(K)$.

Abstract:We study $2\times 2$ matrices over noncommutative rings with anti-involution, with a special focus on the symplectic group $\mathrm{Sp}_2(\mathcal{A},\sigma)$. We define traces and determinants of such matrices and use them to prove a Cayley Hamilton identity and trace relations which generalize well known relations for elements of $\mathrm{SL}_2(R)$ over a commutative ring. We compare the structure of elements of $\mathrm{Sp}_2(\mathcal{A},\sigma)$ with Manin matrices over general noncommutative rings; this naturally leads to a quantization $\mathrm{Sp}_2(\mathcal{A},\sigma)_q$. In contrast to the usual definition of the quantum group as a deformation of the ring of matrix functions on $\mathrm{SL}_2(R)$, this quantization produces a group of matrices over a new noncommutative ring with involution. We finish the comparison by constructing a generalization of a Hopf algebra structure on the noncommutative ring of matrix functions of our quantum group. Finally, we use the noncommutative surface-type cluster algebras of Berenstein and Retakh to give a geometric interpretation of our Hopf algebra structure and to produce noncommutative generalizations of Markov numbers over many rings with involution including the complex numbers, dual numbers, matrix rings, and group rings.

Abstract:For every absolutely irreducible orthogonal representation of a twisted form of SL 2 \operatorname {SL}_2 over a field of characteristic zero, we compute the “unique” symmetric bilinear form that is invariant under the group action. We also prove the analogous result for Weyl modules in prime characteristic (including characteristic 2) and an isomorphism between two symmetric bilinear forms given by binomial coefficients.

Abstract:We define a reduction covariant for the representations a la Vinberg associated to stably graded Lie algebras. We then give an analogue of the LLL algorithm for the odd split special orthogonal group and show how this can be combined with our theory to effectively reduce the coefficients of vectors in a representation connected to 2-descent for odd hyperelliptic curves.

Abstract:The affine Temperley-Lieb algebra $\mathsf{a}\hskip-1.8pt\mathsf{TL}_{N}(\beta)$ is an infinite-dimensional algebra parametrized by a number $\beta \in \mathbb{C}$ and an integer $N\in \mathbb{N}$. It naturally acts on $(\mathbb{C}^2)^{\otimes N}$ to produce a family of representations labeled by an additional parameter $z\in\mathbb C^\times$. The structure of these representations, which were first introduced by Pasquier and Saleur in their study of spin chains, is here made explicit. They share their composition factors with the cellular $\mathsf{a}\hskip-1.8pt\mathsf{TL}_{N}(\beta)$-modules of Graham and Lehrer, but differ from the latter representations by the direction of about half of the arrows of their Loewy diagrams. The proof of this statement uses a morphism introduced by Morin-Duchesne and Saint-Aubin as well as new maps that intertwine various $\mathsf{a}\hskip-1.8pt\mathsf{TL}_{N}(\beta)$-actions on the XXZ chain and generalize applications studied by Deguchi $\textit{et al}$ and after by Morin-Duchesne and Saint-Aubin.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we introduce a notion of ladder representations for split odd special orthogonal groups and symplectic groups over a non-archimedean local field of characteristic zero. This is a natural class in the admissible dual, which contains both strongly positive discrete series representations and irreducible representations with irreducible $A$-parameters. We compute Jacquet modules and the Aubert duals of ladder representations, and we establish a formula for describing ladder representations in terms of linear combinations of standard modules.
