Abstract:We consider examples of extremal transitions between families of Calabi-Yau complete intersection threefolds in toric varieties, which are induced by toric embeddings of one toric variety into the other. We show that the toric map induced by the linear dual of the embedding induces a birational morphism between the mirror Calabi-Yau families, and in one case show that it can be extended to the full mirror transition between mirror families. Note: this version uses a different approach to give a shorter proof of the same result. Also, Lemma 5.8 in the previous versions is definitely wrong.

Homological mirror symmetry for complete intersections in algebraic tori

Abstract:We prove one direction of homological mirror symmetry for complete intersections in algebraic tori, in all dimensions. The mirror geometry is not a space but a LG model, i.e. a pair given by a space and a regular function. We show that the Fukaya category of the complete intersection is equivalent to the category of matrix factorizations of the LG pair. Our approach yields new results also in the hypersurface setting, which was treated earlier by Gammage and Shende. Our argument depends on breaking down the complete intersection into smaller more manageable pieces, i.e. finite covers of products of higher dimensional pairs-of-pants, thus implementing a program first suggested by Seidel.

Abstract:The presented paper is a continuation of the series of papers [17, 18]. In this paper, utilizing Batyrev and Borisov's duality construction on nef-partitions, we generalize the recipe in [17,18] to construct a pair of singular double cover Calabi-Yau varieties ( Y, Y (nu) ) over toric manifolds and compute their topological Euler characteristics and Hodge numbers. In the 3 -dimensional cases, we show that ( Y, Y (nu) ) forms a topological mirror pair, i.e., h (p , q) ( Y ) = h (3 - p,q) ( Y (nu) ) for all p, q .

Abstract:Let $X_\Sigma$ be a complete toric variety. The coherent-constructible correspondence $\kappa$ of \cite{FLTZ} equates $\Perf_T(X_\Sigma)$ with a subcategory $Sh_{cc}(M_\bR;\LS)$ of constructible sheaves on a vector space $M_\bR.$ The microlocalization equivalence $\mu$ of \cite{NZ,N} relates these sheaves to a subcategory $Fuk(T^*M_\bR;\LS)$ of the Fukaya category of the cotangent $T^*M_\bR$. When $X_\Si$ is nonsingular, taking the derived category yields an equivariant version of homological mirror symmetry, $DCoh_T(X_\Si)\cong DFuk(T^*M_\bR;\LS)$, which is an equivalence of triangulated tensor categories. The nonequivariant coherent-constructible correspondence $\bar{\kappa}$ of \cite{T} embeds $\Perf(X_\Si)$ into a subcategory $Sh_c(T_\bR^\vee;\bar{\Lambda}_\Si)$ of constructible sheaves on a compact torus $T_\bR^\vee$. When $X_\Si$ is nonsingular, the composition of $\bar{\kappa}$ and microlocalization yields a version of homological mirror symmetry, $DCoh(X_\Sigma)\hookrightarrow DFuk(T^*T_\bR;\bar{\Lambda}_\Si)$, which is a full embedding of triangulated tensor categories. When $X_\Si$ is nonsingular and projective, the composition $\tau=\mu\circ \kappa$ is compatible with T-duality, in the following sense. An equivariant ample line bundle $\cL$ has a hermitian metric invariant under the real torus, whose connection defines a family of flat line bundles over the real torus orbits. This data produces a T-dual Lagrangian brane $\mathbb L$ on the universal cover $T^*M_\bR$ of the dual real torus fibration. Abstract:We introduce a new version of 3d mirror symmetry for toric stacks, inspired by a 3d $\mathcal{N} = 2$ abelian mirror symmetry construction in physics. Given some toric data, we introduce the $K$-theoretic $I$-function with effective level structure for the associated toric stack. When a particular stability condition is chosen, it restricts to the $I$-function for the particular toric GIT quotient. The mirror of a toric stack is defined by the Gale dual of the original toric data. We then proved the mirror conjecture that the $I$-functions of a mirror pair coincide, under the mirror map, which switches Kähler and equivariant parameters, and maps $q\mapsto q^{-1}$.

Abstract:The Remodeling Conjecture proposed by Bouchard-Klemm-Marino-Pasquetti (BKMP) relates the A-model open and closed topological string amplitudes (open and closed Gromov-Witten invariants) of a symplectic toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold to Eynard-Orantin invariants of its mirror curve. The Remodeling Conjecture can be viewed as a version of all genus open-closed mirror symmetry. After a brief review on mirror symmetry and topological strings on Calabi-Yau geometry, we give a non-technical exposition of our results on the Remodeling Conjecture for toric Calabi-Yau 3-orbifolds.

Abstract:This paper continues the study of two examples of extremal transitions between families of Calabi-Yau threefolds. In a previous paper we suggested that the "mirror transition" between mirror families predicted by Morrison could be achieved naturally by combining a toric morphism with the Batyrev-Borisov construction. This was carried out for a particular example of a conifold transition. In this paper we show that similar methods work for another extremal transition involving more complicated singularities. We also study how the resolution is related to geometry of the ambient toric varieties, and discuss the connection with recent work by Doran and Harder.

Abstract:Standard toric geometry methods used to construct Calabi-Yau varieties may be extended to complete intersections in non-Fano varieties encoded by star triangulating non-convex polytopes. Similarly, mirror symmetry is conjectured to hold in terms of a transpolar duality generalizing the original construction of Batyrev and Borisov. The associated mirror pairs naturally include certain flip-folded, multi-layered multihedral objects, inclusively named VEX multitopes, and a correspondingly generalized transpolar duality. These self-overlaying VEX multitopes, long since known in pre-symplectic geometry, are found to correspond to certain non-algebraic but smooth toric spaces with Chern classes that satisfy the standard Todd-Hirzebruch identities. The computation of diffeomorphism invariants, including characteristic submanifold intersection numbers, corroborates their recent inclusion in the connected web of Calabi-Yau spaces and associated string compactifications: They arise together with the standard (Fano/reflexive polytope) constructions, within deformation families of generalized complete intersections in products of projective spaces.

Abstract:We prove Kontsevich's homological mirror symmetry conjecture for a large class of mirror pairs of Calabi--Yau hypersurfaces in toric varieties. These mirror pairs were constructed by Batyrev from dual reflexive polytopes. The theorem holds in characteristic zero and in all but finitely many positive characteristics.

In the case of affine Lagrangian submanifolds, we show that the Floer homology of Langrangian submanifolds is isomorphic to the extension of the mirror sheafE(L,L){\mathcal E}(L,{\mathcal L}). We construct a canonical isomorphism in the case when a certain transversality condition is satisfied. Our isomorphism then is functorial.

Abstract:We prove a result that relates Donaldson-Futaki type invariants (that is, the numerical invariants used to define $K$-stability for general polarised manifolds) for a toric polarised manifold and for a compactification of its mirror Landau-Ginzburg model, nearby the large volume limit. In general, this expansion contains a term involving the base loci of certain linear systems determined by the Landau-Ginzburg potential (as expected from known constructions of compactified mirrors), and we give a condition under which this term is subleading.

Abstract:We study the geometry of singular $\text{SL}_n$-Hitchin fibres over the elliptic locus. We show that orbifold singularities appear in the $\text{PGL}_n$-moduli space $M^{ell}(\text{PGL}_n)$ exactly when the $\text{SL}_n$ side $M^{ell}(\text{SL}_n)$ has a reducible Hitchin fibre. Our main theorem shows that the Fourier-Mukai transform of a skyscraper sheaf supported at an orbifold singularity in $M^{ell}(\text{PGL}_n)$ satisfies a version of the fractional Hecke eigenproperty, as conjectured by Frenkel and Witten.
Mirror Symmetry for Special Nilpotent Orbit Closures

Abstract:Motivated by geometric Langlands, we initiate a program to study the mirror symmetry between nilpotent orbit closures of a semisimple Lie algebra and those of its Langlands dual. The most interesting case is $B_n$ via $C_n$. Classically, there is a famous Springer duality between special orbits. Therefore, it is natural to speculate that the mirror symmetry we seek may coincide with Springer duality in the context of special orbits. Unfortunately, such a naive statement fails. To remedy the situation, we propose a conjecture which asserts the mirror symmetry for certain parabolic/induced covers of special orbits. Then, we prove the conjecture for Richardson orbits and obtain certain partial results in general. In the process, we reveal some very interesting and yet subtle structures of these finite covers, which are related to Lusztig's canonical quotients of special nilpotent orbits. For example, there is a mysterious asymmetry in the footprint or range of degrees of these finite covers. Finally, we provide two examples to show that the mirror symmetry fails outside the footprint.

Abstract:Using Cayley trick, we define the notions of mixed toric residues and mixed Hessians associated with $r$ Laurent polynomials $f_1,...,f_r$.We conjecture that the values of mixed toric residues on the mixed Hessians are determined by mixed volumes of the Newton polytopes of $f_1,...,f_r$. Using mixed toric residues, we generalize our Toric Residue Mirror Conjecture to the case of Calabi-Yau complete intersections in Gorenstein toric Fano varieties obtained from nef-partitions of reflexive polytopes.
