Abstract:Inorganic cubic rubidium-lead-halide perovskites have attracted considerable attention owing to their structural, electronic, and unique optical properties. In this study, novel rubidium-lead-bromide (RbPbBr(3))-based hybrid perovskite solar cells (HPSCs) with several high-band-gap chalcogenide electron transport layers (ETLs) of In(2)S(3), WS(2), and SnS(2) were studied by density functional theory (DFT) and using the SCAPS-1D simulator. Initially, the band gap and optical performance were...

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper aims to design and optimize RbPbBr₃-based perovskite solar cells and investigates several high-bandgap chalcogenide electron transport layer (ETL) materials (In₂S₃, WS₂, and SnS₂). These materials were analyzed in detail using density functional theory (DFT) and the SCAPS-1D simulator, exploring the impact of different key parameters (such as layer thickness, bulk defect density, doping concentration, interface defect density, and operating temperature) on device performance. The ultimate goal is to find the optimally configured device structure, particularly the performance of SnS₂ as the ETL, and compare it with results reported in other literature to determine the benchmark performance of RbPbBr₃-based high-efficiency photovoltaic devices. In the paper, the SnS₂ ETL demonstrated significant potential, achieving the highest power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 29.75%.
