Abstract:Based on our paper (Dan et al. in J Funct Anal 273:559–597, 2017), we continue the study on totally Abelian analytic Toeplitz operators on the Hardy space. However, rather than to focus on the geometry of the symbol curves associated with these operators as done before, this paper is to consider the Riemann surfaces in $${\mathbb {C}}^{2}$$ defined by these symbols. In this way, we reveal the connection between the totally Abelian property of these operators and the distinguished varieties arising from the Riemann surfaces, thus widely extend the classes of function symbols considered in the previous paper. Furthermore, an alternative method is used to provide a sharp characterization for analytic Toeplitz operators being not totally Abelian.
The common range of co-analytic Toeplitz operators on the Drury-Arveson space

Abstract:We characterize the common range of the adjoints of cyclic multiplication operators on the Drury--Arveson space. We show that a function belongs to this common range if and only if its Taylor coefficients satisfy a simple decay condition. To achieve this, we introduce the uniform Smirnov class on the ball and determine its dual space. We show that the dual space of the uniform Smirnov class equals the dual space of the strictly smaller Smirnov class of the Drury-Arveson space, and that this in turn equals the common range of the adjoints of cyclic multiplication operators.

Abstract:We consider various classes of bounded operators on the Fock space $F^2$ of Gaussian square integrable entire functions over the complex plane. These include Toeplitz (type) operators, weighted composition operators, singular integral operators, Volterra-type operators and Hausdorff operators and range from classical objects in harmonic analysis to more recently introduced classes. As a leading problem and closely linked to well-known compactness characterizations we pursue the question of when these operators are contained in the Toeplitz algebra. This paper combines a (certainly in-complete) survey of the classical and more recent literature including new ideas for proofs from the perspective of quantum harmonic analysis (QHA). Moreover, we have added a number of new theorems and links between known results.

Abstract:We develop a new semiclassical calculus in analytic regularity, and apply these techniques to the study of Berezin–Toeplitz quantization in real-analytic regularity. We provide asymptotic formulas for the Bergman projector and Berezin–Toeplitz operators on a compact Kähler manifold. These objects depend on an integer N and we study, in the limit $N\rightarrow +\infty $, situations in which one can control them up to an error $O(e^{-cN})$ for some $c>0$. We develop a calculus of Toeplitz operators with real-analytic symbols, which applies to Kähler manifolds with real-analytic metrics. In particular, we prove that the Bergman kernel is controlled up to $O(e^{-cN})$ on any real-analytic Kähler manifold as $N\rightarrow +\infty $. We also prove that Toeplitz operators with analytic symbols can be composed and inverted up to $O(e^{-cN})$. As an application, we study eigenfunction concentration for Toeplitz operators if both the manifold and the symbol are real-analytic. In this case we prove exponential decay in the classically forbidden region.

Abstract:We study Toeplitz operators on the space of all real analytic functions on the real line and the space of all holomorphic functions on finitely connected domains in the complex plane. In both cases, we show that the space of all Toeplitz operators is isomorphic, when equipped with the topology of uniform convergence on bounded sets, with the symbol algebra. This is surprising in view of our previous results, since we showed that the symbol map is not continuous in this topology on the algebra generated by all Toeplitz operators. We also show that in the case of the Fréchet space of all holomorphic functions on a finitely connected domain in the complex plane, the commutator ideal is dense in the algebra generated by all Toeplitz operators in the topology of uniform convergence on bounded sets.

Abstract:We reconsider studies of Toeplitz operators on function spaces (the weighted Bergman space, the generalized derivative Hardy space) and the H-Toeplitz operators on the Bergman space. Past studies have considered the presence or absence of hyponormality or questions of contractivity or expansivity; we provide structure theorems for these operators that allow us to recapture, and often considerably improve, these results. In some cases these operators or their adjoints are actually in more restrictive classes, such as subnormal or moment infinitely divisible ($\mathcal{MID}$).

Abstract:In this paper, we conducted a study of H-Toeplitz operators on the Dirichlet type space $ \mathfrak{D}_{t} $, which included several aspects. To begin, we established the matrix representation of the H-Toeplitz operator $ S_{\varphi} $ with respect to the orthonormal basis of $ \mathfrak{D}_t $. Subsequently, we characterized the compactness of $ S_{\varphi} $ in terms of the symbol $ \varphi $. Furthermore, we developed a new method to investigate the algebraic properties of H-Toeplitz operators, including self-adjointness, diagonality, co-isometry, partial isometry as well as commutativity.

Abstract:Motivated by the canonical decomposition of contractions on Hilbert spaces, we investigate when contractive Toeplitz operators on vector-valued Hardy spaces on the unit disc admit a non-zero reducing subspace on which its restriction is unitary. We show that for a Hilbert space $\mathcal{E}$ and operator-valued symbol $\Phi \in L_{\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{E})}^{\infty}(\mathbb{T})$, the Toeplitz operator $T_{\Phi}$ on $H_{\mathcal{E}}^2(\mathbb{D})$ has such a unitary subspace if and only if there exists a Hilbert space $\mathcal{F}$, an inner function $\Theta(z) \in H_{\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{F}, \mathcal{E})}^{\infty}(\mathbb{D})$, and a unitary $U:\mathcal{F} \rightarrow \mathcal{F}$ such that \[ \Phi(e^{it}) \Theta(e^{it}) = \Theta(e^{it}) U \quad \text{and} \quad \Phi(e^{it})^* \Theta(e^{it}) = \Theta(e^{it}) U^* \quad (\text{ a.e. on }\mathbb{T}). \] This result can be seen as a generalization of the corresponding result for Toeplitz operators on $H^2(\mathbb{D})$ by Goor in [13]. We provide finer characterizations for analytic Toeplitz operators by finding the correspondence between the unitary parts of $T_{\Phi}$ on $H_{\mathcal{E}}^2(\mathbb{D})$ and $\Phi(0)$ on $\mathcal{E}$.

Abstract:The Fock space $\mathcal{F}(\mathbb{C}^n)$ is the space of holomorphic functions on $\mathbb{C}^n$ that are square-integrable with respect to the Gaussian measure on $\mathbb{C}^n$. This space plays an important role in several subfields of analysis and representation theory. In particular, it has for a long time been a model to study Toeplitz operators. Esmeral and Maximenko showed in 2016 that radial Toeplitz operators on $\mathcal{F}(\mathbb{C})$ generate a commutative $C^*$-algebra which is isometrically isomorphic to the $C^*$-algebra $C_{b,u}(\mathbb{N}_0,\rho_1)$. In this article, we extend the result to $k$-quasi-radial symbols acting on the Fock space $\mathcal{F}(\mathbb{C}^n)$. We calculate the spectra of the said Toeplitz operators and show that the set of all eigenvalue functions is dense in the $C^*$-algebra $C_{b,u}(\mathbb{N}_0^k,\rho_k)$ of bounded functions on $\mathbb{N}_0^k$ which are uniformly continuous with respect to the square-root metric. In fact, the $C^*$-algebra generated by Toeplitz operators with quasi-radial symbols is $C_{b,u}(\mathbb{N}_0^k,\rho_k)$.

We highlight the fundamental role played by the function b generating the de Branges-Rovnyak space H(b). First, for symbols in a certain class containing all bounded functions, we study the problem of when an operator which is finite sums of the dual Toeplitz products is compact or zero. Next, for bounded symbols, we construct a symbol map and exhibit a short exact sequence associated with the C*-algebra generated by all dual Toeplitz operators with bounded symbols.

Abstract:In this paper we study the Fredholm properties of Toeplitz operators acting on weighted Bergman spaces $A^p_{\nu}(\mathbb{B}^n)$, where $p \in (1,\infty)$ and $\mathbb{B}^n \subset \mathbb{C}^n$ denotes the $n$-dimensional open unit ball. Let $f$ be a continuous function on the Euclidean closure of $\mathbb{B}^n$. It is well-known that then the corresponding Toeplitz operator $T_f$ is Fredholm if and only if $f$ has no zeros on the boundary $\partial\mathbb{B}^n$. As a consequence, the essential spectrum of $T_f$ is given by the boundary values of $f$. We extend this result to all operators in the algebra generated by Toeplitz operators with bounded symbol (in a sense to be made precise down below). The main ideas are based on the work of Suarez et al. and limit operator techniques coming from similar problems on the sequence space $\ell^p(\mathbb{Z})$.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to study the Sarason's problem on Fock spaces of polyanalytic functions. Namely, given two polyanalytic symbols $f$ and $g$, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for the boundedness of some Toeplitz products $ T_{f}T_{\bar g}$ subjected to certain restriction on $f$ and $g$. We also characterize this property in terms of the Berezin transform.

Abstract:We study the algebra generated by all Toeplitz operators on the Fréchet space of all entire functions and all functions holomorphic in the unit disk. In both cases we prove that the quotient algebra by the commutator ideal can be equipped with a locally convex topology which makes this quotient algebra algebraically and topologically isomorphic with the symbol algebra. We also show that the topology of uniform convergence on bounded sets is not a correct choice here, since the commutator ideal is dense in the algebra generated by all Toeplitz operators in this topology. However, the linear space of all Toeplitz operators with the topology of uniform convergence on bounded sets is linearly isomorphic with the symbol space. There are also some other subtle differences between the case which we study and the classical one. Our theorems provide the key step towards extending the results previously obtained for single Toeplitz operators to the elements of the algebra generated by all Toeplitz operators.
