Abstract:Recently, Boroczky, Lutwak, Yang, and Zhang [J. Amer. Math. Soc. 26 (2013), pp. 831-852] established necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions to the logarithmic Minkowski problem for origin-symmetric measures. We establish the existence of solutions to the logarithmic Minkowski problem for non-symmetric measures and demonstrate the non-uniqueness of solutions to the logarithmic Minkowski problem.

Abstract:In this paper, we resolve the planar dual Minkowski problem, proposed by Huang et al. (2016) [31] for all positive indices without any symmetry assumption. More precisely, given any q>0, and function f on S1, bounded by two positive constants, we show that there exists a convex body Ω in the plane, containing the origin in its interior, whose dual curvature measure C˜q(Ω,⋅) has density f. In particular, if f is smooth, then ∂Ω is also smooth.

Our main purpose is to show the existence of solutions to the problem for all p>0 via the study of related parabolic flows. We also discuss the problem when p<0. Abstract:The lower dimensional Busemann-Petty problem asks whether origin-symmetric convex bodies in R^n with smaller volume of all k-dimensional sections necessarily have smaller volume. The answer is negative for k>3. The problem is still open for k=2,3. We study this problem in the complex hyperbolic n-space and prove that the answer is affirmative only for sections of complex dimension one and negative for sections of higher dimensions.

Abstract:We solve Teissier's proportionality problem for transcendental nef classes over a compact Kahler manifold, which says that the equality in the Khovanskii-Teissier inequalities holds for a pair of big and nef classes if and only if the two classes are proportional. This result recovers the previous one of Boucksom-Favre-Jonsson for the case of big and nef line bundles over a (complex) projective algebraic manifold.

Abstract:In this paper we study how certain symmetries of convex bodies affect their geometric properties. In particular, we consider the impact of symmetries generated by the block diagonal subgroup of orthogonal transformations, generalizing complex and quaternionic convex bodies. We conduct a systematic study of sections of bodies with symmetries of this type, with the emphasis on problems of the Busemann-Petty type and hyperplane inequalities. The main role belongs to the class of intersection bodies with symmetries.

Abstract:We study qualitative properties of positive solutions of noncooperative, possibly nonvariational, elliptic systems. We obtain new classification and Liouville type theorems in the whole Euclidean space, as well as in half-spaces, and deduce a priori estimates and existence of positive solutions for related Dirichlet problems. We significantly improve the known results for a large class of systems involving a balance between repulsive and attractive terms. This class contains systems arising in biological models of Lotka-Volterra type, in physical models of Bose-Einstein condensates and in models of chemical reactions.

Pseudo-Anosov representatives of stable Hamiltonian structures

Abstract:A pseudo-Anosov homeomorphism of a surface is a canonical representative of its mapping class. In this paper, we explain that a transitive pseudo-Anosov flow is similarly a canonical representative of its stable Hamiltonian class. It follows that there are finitely many pseudo-Anosov flows admitting positive Birkhoff sections on any given rational homology 3-sphere. This result has a purely topological consequence: any 3-manifold can be obtained in at most finitely many ways as $p/q$ surgery on a fibered hyperbolic knot in $S^3$ for a slope $p/q$ satisfying $q\geq 6$, $p\neq 0, \pm 1, \pm 2 \mod q$. The proof of the main theorem generalizes an argument of Barthelmé--Bowden--Mann.

Abstract:We introduce a new method of constructing Birkhoff sections for pseudo-Anosov flows, which uses the connection between pseudo-Anosov flows and veering triangulations. This method allows for explicit constructions, as well as control over the Birkhoff section in terms of its Euler characteristic and the complexity of the boundary orbits. In particular, we show that any transitive pseudo-Anosov flow has a Birkhoff section with two boundary components.

Abstract:Motivated by the solution of the aspherical conjecture up to dimension 5 [CL20][Gro20], we want to study a relative version of the aspherical conjecture. We present a natural condition generalizing the model $X\times\mathbb{T}^k$ to the relative aspherical setting. Such model is closely related to submanifold obstruction of positive scalar curvature (PSC), and would be in similar spirit as [HPS15][CRZ23] in codim 2 case. In codim 3 and 4, we prove results on how 3-manifold obstructs the existence of PSC under our relative aspherical condition, the proof of which relies on a newly introduced geometric quantity called the it spherical width. This could be regarded as a relative version extension of the aspherical conjecture up to dim 5.

Abstract:We study isomorphic properties of two generalizations of intersection bodies, the class of k-intersection bodies and the class of generalized k-intersection bodies. We also show that the Banach-Mazur distance of the k-intersection body of a convex body, when it exists and it is convex, with the Euclidean ball, is bounded by a constant depending only on k, generalizing a well-known result of Hensley and Borell. We conclude by giving some volumetric estimates for k-intersection bodies.

Abstract:This work introduces a multidimensional generalization of the maximum bisection problem. A mixed integer linear programming formulation is proposed with the proof of its correctness. The numerical tests, made on the randomly generated graphs, indicates that the multidimensional generalization is more difficult to solve than the original problem.

Abstract:Let Mn be an immersed umbilic-free hypersurface in the (n + 1)-dimensional unit sphere double-script S signn+1, then M n is associated with a, so-called Möbius metric g, a Möbius second fundamental form B and a Möbius form Φ which are invariants of Mn under the Möbius transformation group of double-script S signn+1. A classical theorem of Möbius geometry states that Mn (n ≥ 3) is in fact characterized by g and B up to Möbius equivalence. A Möbius isoparametric hypersurface is defined by satisfying two conditions: (1) Φ = 0; (2) All the eigenvalues of B with respect to g are constants. Note that Euclidean isoparametric hyper-surfaces are automatically Möbius isoparametric, whereas the latter are Dupin hypersurfaces. In this paper, we prove that a Möbius isoparametric hypersurface in double-script S sign4 is either of parallel Möbius second fundamental form or Möbius equivalent to a tube of constant radius over a standard Veronese embedding of ℝP2 into double-script S sign4. The classification of hypersurfaces in S n+1 (n ≥ 2) with parallel Möbius second fundamental form has been accomplished in our previous paper [6]. The present result is a, counterpart of Pinkall's classification for Dupin hypersurfaces in double-script E sign4 up to Lie equivalence.

Abstract:We start from the classical Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchy posed on formal pseudo-differential operators, and we produce two hierarchies of non-linear equations posed on non-formal pseudo-differential operators lying in the Kontsevich and Vishik's odd class, one of them with values in formal pseudo-differential operators. We prove that the corresponding Zakharov-Shabat equations hold in this context, and we express one of our hierarchies as the minimization of a class of Yang-Mills action functionals on a space of pseudo-differential connections whose curvature takes values in the Dixmier ideal. We finish by comparing our Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchies in terms of the solutions that they produce to the KP-II equation: existence, uniqueness and formality.

Abstract:In this paper we will examine unions of oriented and non-oriented unit squares in same plane and measure the ratio of perimeter to area of these unions. In 1998, T. Keleti published the conjecture that this ratio never exceeds 4. We outline the current state of research on this conjecture and give two proofs of a special case. Finally, we explore the difficulties that arise from using similar methods in the general case and examine properties of any potential counterexample.

Abstract:This work is concerned with a Pólya-Szegö type inequality for anisotropic functionals of Sobolev functions. The relevant inequality entails a double-symmetrization involving both trial functions and functionals. A new approach that uncovers geometric aspects of the inequality is proposed. It relies upon anisotropic isoperimetric inequalities, fine properties of Sobolev functions, and results from the Brunn-Minkowski theory of convex bodies. Importantly, unlike previously available proofs, the one offered in this paper does not require approximation arguments and hence allows for a characterization of extremal functions.
