Abstract:We introduce the dual isoperimetrix which solves the isoperimetric problem in the dual Brunn-Minkowski theory. We then show how the dual isoperimetrix is related to the isoperimetrix from the Brunn-Minkowski theory.

Abstract:In this paper, we resolve the planar dual Minkowski problem, proposed by Huang et al. (2016) [31] for all positive indices without any symmetry assumption. More precisely, given any q>0, and function f on S1, bounded by two positive constants, we show that there exists a convex body Ω in the plane, containing the origin in its interior, whose dual curvature measure C˜q(Ω,⋅) has density f. In particular, if f is smooth, then ∂Ω is also smooth.

Abstract:The Brunn-Minkowski theory is the heart of quantitative convexity. It had its origins in Minkowski's joining his notion of mixed volumes with the Brunn-Minkowski inequality. One of Minkowski's major contributions to the theory was to show how this theory could be developed from a few basic concepts: support functions, Minkowski combinations, and mixed volumes. Thirty years ago, Firey [8] (see Burago and Zalgaller [4, §24.6]) extended the notion of a Minkowski combination, and introduced, for each real p > 1, what he called p-sums. It is the aim of this series of articles to show that these Firey combinations lead to a Brunn-Minkowski theory for each p > 1. Abstract:Let $C$ be a closed convex cone in ${\mathbb R}^n$, pointed and with interior points. We consider sets of the form $A=C\setminus A^\bullet$, where $A^\bullet\subset C$ is a closed convex set. If $A$ has finite volume (Lebesgue measure), then $A$ is called a $C$-coconvex set. The family of $C$-coconvex sets is closed under the addition $\oplus$ defined by $C\setminus(A_1\oplus A_2)= (C\setminus A_1)+(C\setminus A_2)$. We develop first steps of a Brunn--Minkowski theory for $C$-coconvex sets, which relates this addition to the notion of volume. In particular, we establish the equality conditions for a Brunn--Minkowski type inequality (with reversed inequality sign), introduce mixed volumes and their integral representations, and prove a Minkowski-type uniqueness theorem for $C$-coconvex sets with equal surface area measures.

Weighted Brunn-Minkowski Theory II: Inequalities for Mixed Measures and Applications

Abstract:In "Weighted Brunn-Minkowski Theory I", the prequel to this work, we discussed how recent developments on concavity of measures have laid the foundations of a nascent weighted Brunn-Minkowski theory. In particular, we defined the mixed measures of three convex bodies and obtained its integral representation. In this work, we obtain inequalities for mixed measures, such as a generalization of Fenchel's inequality; this provides a new, simpler proof of the classical volume case. Moreover, we show that mixed measures are connected to the study of log-submodularity and supermodularity of the measure of Minkowski sums of convex bodies. This elaborates on the recent investigations of these properties for the Lebesgue measure. We conclude by establishing that the only Radon measures that are supermodular over the class of compact, convex sets are multiples of the Lebesgue measure. Motivated by this result, we then discuss weaker forms of supermodularity by restricting the class of convex sets.

Abstract:We interpret the log-Brunn-Minkowski conjecture of Böröczky-Lutwak-Yang-Zhang as a spectral problem in centro-affine differential geometry. In particular, we show that the Hilbert-Brunn-Minkowski operator coincides with the centro-affine Laplacian, thus obtaining a new avenue for tackling the conjecture using insights from affine differential geometry. As every strongly convex hypersurface in $\mathbb{R}^n$ is a centro-affine unit-sphere, it has constant centro-affine Ricci curvature equal to $n-2$, in stark contrast to the standard weighted Ricci curvature of the associated metric-measure space, which will in general be negative. In particular, we may use the classical argument of Lichnerowicz and a centro-affine Bochner formula to give a new proof of the Brunn-Minkowski inequality. For origin-symmetric convex bodies enjoying fairly generous curvature pinching bounds (improving with dimension), we are able to show global uniqueness in the $L^p$- and log-Minkowski problems, as well as the corresponding global $L^p$- and log-Minkowski conjectured inequalities. As a consequence, we resolve the isomorphic version of the log-Minkowski problem: for any origin-symmetric convex body $\bar K$ in $\mathbb{R}^n$, there exists an origin-symmetric convex body $K$ with $\bar K \subset K \subset 8 \bar K$, so that $K$ satisfies the log-Minkowski conjectured inequality, and so that $K$ is uniquely determined by its cone-volume measure $V_K$. If $\bar K$ is not extremely far from a Euclidean ball to begin with, an analogous isometric result, where $8$ is replaced by $1+\epsilon$, is obtained as well.

Abstract:In this paper we present new versions of the classical Brunn-Minkowski inequality for different classes of measures and sets. We show that the inequality \[ \mu(\lambda A + (1-\lambda)B)^{1/n} \geq \lambda \mu(A)^{1/n} + (1-\lambda)\mu(B)^{1/n} \] holds true for an unconditional product measure $\mu$ with decreasing density and a pair of unconditional convex bodies $A,B \subset \mathbb{R}^n$. We also show that the above inequality is true for any unconditional $\log$-concave measure $\mu$ and unconditional convex bodies $A,B \subset \mathbb{R}^n$. Finally, we prove that the inequality is true for a symmetric $\log$-concave measure $\mu$ and a pair of symmetric convex sets $A,B \subset \mathbb{R}^2$, which, in particular, settles two-dimensional case of the conjecture for Gaussian measure proposed by R. Gardner and the fourth named author. In addition, we deduce the $1/n$-concavity of the parallel volume $t \mapsto \mu(A+tB)$, Brunn's type theorem and certain analogues of Minkowski first inequality.

A variational formula for the dual Orlicz-quermassintegral is established in order to give a geometric interpretation of the dual Orlicz curvature measure. Abstract:Recently, Gardner, Hug and Weil have introduced the Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory: a general framework, additions, and inequalities. Following this, in the paper we consider Orlicz dual Brunn-Minkowski theory. We introduce Orlicz hormonic Blaschke addition which is an extension of the Lp hormonic Blaschke addition and L p radial Minkowski addition, respectively. Inequalities of dual Minkowski and Brunn-Minkowski type are obtained for the Orlicz hormonic Blaschke addition. The new Orlicz dual Brunn-Minkowski inequality implies the dual and L p -dual Brunn-Minkowski inequalities, respectively. New Orlicz dual Minkowski inequality implies the L p -dual Minkowski inequality. One of these has connections with the conjectured log-Brunn-Minkowski inequality of Lutwak, Yang, and Zhang, and in fact we show a log dual Minkowski inequality. Finally, we introduce the concept of Orlicz dual projection body and an inequality similar to Orlicz projection body is established.

Abstract:Lutwak, Yang and Zhang \cite{LYZ2018} introduced the $L_p$ dual curvature measure that unifies several other geometric measures in dual Brunn-Minkowski theory and Brunn- Minkowski theory. Motivated by works in \cite{LYZ2018}, we consider the uniqueness and continuity of the solution to the $L_p$ dual Minkowski problem. To extend the important work (Theorem \ref{uniquepolytope}) of LYZ to the case for general convex bodies, we establish some new Minkowski-type inequalities which are closely related to the optimization problem associated with the $L_p$ dual Minkowski problem. When $q< p$, the uniqueness of the solution to the $L_p$ dual Minkowski problem for general convex bodies is obtained. Moreover, we obtain the continuity of the solution to the $L_p$ dual Minkowski problem for convex bodies.

Abstract:The Brunn-Minkowski Theorem asserts that $\mu_d(A+B)^{1/d}\geq \mu_d(A)^{1/d}+\mu_d(B)^{1/d}$ for convex bodies $A,\,B\subseteq \R^d$, where $\mu_d$ denotes the $d$-dimensional Lebesgue measure. It is well-known that equality holds if and only if $A$ and $B$ are homothetic, but few characterizations of equality in other related bounds are known. Let $H$ be a hyperplane. Bonnesen later strengthened this bound by showing $$\mu_d(A+B)\geq (M^{1/(d-1)}+N^{1/(d-1)})^{d-1}(\frac{\mu_d(A)}{M}+\frac{\mu_d(B)}{N}),$$ where $M=\sup\{\mu_{d-1}((\mathbf x+H)\cap A)\mid \mathbf x\in \R^d\}$ and $N=\sup\{\mu_{d-1}((\mathbf y+H)\cap B)\mid \mathbf y\in \R^d\}$. Standard compression arguments show that the above bound also holds when $M=\mu_{d-1}(\pi(A))$ and $N=\mu_{d-1}(\pi(B))$, where $\pi$ denotes a projection of $\mathbb R^d$ onto $H$, which gives an alternative generalization of the Brunn-Minkowski bound. In this paper, we characterize the cases of equality in this later bound, showing that equality holds if and only if $A$ and $B$ are obtained from a pair of homothetic convex bodies by `stretching' along the direction of the projection, which is made formal in the paper. When $d=2$, we characterize the case of equality in the former bound as well.

Abstract:Given one metric measure space $X$ satisfying a linear Brunn-Minkowski inequality, and a second one $Y$ satisfying a Brunn-Minkowski inequality with exponent $p\ge -1$, we prove that the product $X\times Y$ with the standard product distance and measure satisfies a Brunn-Minkowski inequality of order $1/(1+p^{-1})$ under mild conditions on the measures and the assumption that the distances are strictly intrinsic. The same result holds when we consider restricted classes of sets. We also prove that a linear Brunn-Minkowski inequality is obtained in $X\times Y$ when $Y$ satisfies a Prékopa-Leindler inequality. In particular, we show that the classical Brunn-Minkowski inequality holds for any pair of weakly unconditional sets in $\mathbb{R}^n$ (i.e., those containing the projection of every point in the set onto every coordinate subspace) when we consider the standard distance and the product measure of $n$ one-dimensional real measures with positively decreasing densities. This yields an improvement of the class of sets satisfying the Gaussian Brunn-Minkowski inequality. Furthermore, associated isoperimetric inequalities as well as recently obtained Brunn-Minkowski's inequalities are derived from our results.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduced the concept of $ C $-star bodies in a fixed pointed closed convex cone $ C $ and studied the dual mixed volume for $ C $-star bodies. For $ C $-star bodies, we established the corresponding dual Brunn-Minkowski inequality, dual Minkowski inequality, and dual Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality. Moveover, we found that the dual Brunn-Minkowski inequality for $ C $-star bodies can strengthen the Brunn-Minkowski inequality for $ C $-coconvex sets.

Abstract:If a pair of subsets of two-dimensional Euclidean space nearly achieves equality in the Brunn-Minkowski inequality, in the sense that the measure of the associated sumset is nearly equal to the lower bound provided by the inequality, then these sets must nearly coincide with a pair of homothetic convex sets. The proof relies on a continuum analogue of a theorem of Freiman which characterizes finite sets of integers whose sumsets are of nearly minimal size. Small corrections and clarifications have been made in this draft.

In the setting of essentially non-branching metric measure spaces, we prove the equivalence between the curvature dimension condition [math], in the sense of Lott–Sturm–Villani [Sturm, On the geometry of metric measure spaces. I, Acta Math. 196(1) (2006) 65–131; On the geometry of metric measure spaces. II, Acta Math. 196(1) (2006) 133–177; Ricci curvature for metric-measure spaces via optimal transport, Ann. of Math. (2) 169(3) (2009) 903–991], and a newly introduced notion that we call strong Brunn–Minkowski inequality [math]. This condition is a reinforcement of the generalized Brunn–Minkowski inequality [math], which is known to hold in [math] spaces. Our result is a first step toward providing a full equivalence between the [math] condition and the validity of [math], which has been recently proved in [M. Magnabosco, L. Portinale and T. Abstract:The dual conformal box integral in Minkowski space is not fully determined by the conformal invariants $z$ and $\bar{z}$. Depending on the kinematic region its value is on a 'branch' of the Bloch-Wigner function which occurs in the Euclidean case. Dual special conformal transformations in Minkowski space can change the kinematic region in such a way that the value of the integral jumps to another branch of this function, encoding a subtle breaking of dual conformal invariance for the integral. We classify conformally equivalent configurations of four points in compactified Minkowski space. We show that starting with any configuration, one can reach up to four branches of the integral using dual special conformal transformations. We also show that most configurations with real $z$ and $\bar{z}$ can be conformally mapped to a configuration in the same kinematic region with two points at infinity, where the box integral can be calculated directly in Minkowski space using only the residue theorem.

Drinfel'd Double of Bialgebroids for String and M Theories: Dual Calculus Framework

Abstract:We extend the notion of Lie bialgebroids for more general bracket structures used in string and M theories. We formalize the notions of calculus and dual calculi on algebroids. We achieve this by reinterpreting the main results of the matched pairs of Leibniz algebroids. By examining a rather general set of fundamental algebroid axioms, we present the compatibility conditions between two calculi on vector bundles which are not dual in the usual sense. Given two algebroids equipped with calculi satisfying the compatibility conditions, we construct its double on their direct sum. This generalizes the Drinfel'd double of Lie bialgebroids. We discuss several examples from the literature including exceptional Courant brackets. Using Nambu-Poisson structures, we construct an explicit example, which is important both from physical and mathematical point of views. This example can be considered as the extension of triangular Lie bialgebroids in the realm of higher Courant algebroids, that automatically satisfy the compatibility conditions. We extend the Poisson generalized geometry by defining Nambu-Poisson exceptional generalized geometry and prove some preliminary results in this framework. We also comment on the global picture in the framework of formal rackoids and we slightly extend the notion for vector bundle valued metrics.
