Abstract:Equivariant $\Gamma$-spaces model equivariant infinite loop spaces. In this article, we show that there exists a connective Quillen equivalence between the category of equivariant $\Gamma$-spaces and the category of orthogonal spectra.

Abstract:It is well known that very special $\Gamma$-spaces and grouplike $\E_\infty$ spaces both model connective spectra. Both these models have equivariant analogues. Shimakawa defined the category of equivariant $\Gamma$-spaces and showed that special equivariant $\Gamma$-spaces determine positive equivariant spectra. Costenoble and Waner showed that grouplike equivariant $\E_\infty$-spaces determine connective equivariant spectra. We show that with suitable model category structures the category of equivariant $\Gamma$-spaces is Quillen equivalent to the category of equivariant $\E_\infty$ spaces. We define the units of equivariant ring spectra in terms of equivariant $\Gamma$-spaces and show that the units of an equivariant ring spectrum determines a connective equivariant spectrum.

Equivariant geometry of symmetric quiver orbit closures

Abstract:We unify problems about the equivariant geometry of symmetric quiver representation varieties, in the finite type setting, with the corresponding problems for symmetric varieties $GL(n)/K$ where $K$ is an orthogonal or symplectic group. In particular, we translate results about singularities of orbit closures; combinatorics of orbit closure containment; and torus equivariant cohomology and K-theory between these classes of varieties. We obtain these results by constructing explicit embeddings with nice properties of homogeneous fiber bundles over type $A$ symmetric quiver representation varieties into symmetric varieties.

Equivariant property Gamma and the tracial local-to-global principle for C*-dynamics

Abstract:We consider the notion of equivariant uniform property Gamma for actions of countable discrete groups on C*-algebras that admit traces. In case the group is amenable and the C*-algebra has a compact tracial state space, we prove that this property implies a kind of tracial local-to-global principle for the C*-dynamical system, generalizing a recent such principle for C*-algebras exhibited in work of Castillejos et al. For actions on simple nuclear $\mathcal{Z}$-stable C*-algebras, we use this to prove that equivariant uniform property Gamma is equivalent to equivariant $\mathcal{Z}$-stability, generalizing a result of Gardella-Hirshberg-Vaccaro.

Abstract:Let G be a finite group. We study the group of G -equivariant self-homotopy equivalences of product of G -spaces. For a product of n number of G -spaces, we represent it as product of n number of subgroups under the assumption of equivariant reducibility. Further we describe each factor as a split short exact sequence. Also we obtain an another kind of factorisation, called LU type decomposition, as product of two subgroups.

Abstract:We study equivariant modules over $GL(V)$ over the polynomial ring $R = Sym V$. We introduce for every partition $\lambda$ the elementary equivariant module $M_{\lambda}$. Then we prove that any finitely generated equivariant module admits a fltration with associated graded being the direct sum of modules of only two kinds: either $M_{\lambda}$ or truncations of $M_{\lambda}$. We show that each $M_{\lambda}$ has a linear resolution and describe also the resolution of its truncations.

Equivariant injectivity of crossed products

Abstract:We introduce the notion of a $\mathbb{G}$-operator space $(X, \alpha)$, which consists of an action $\alpha: X \curvearrowleft \mathbb{G}$ of a locally compact quantum group $\mathbb{G}$ on an operator space $X$, and we make a study of the notion of $\mathbb{G}$-equivariant injectivity for such an operator space. Given a $\mathbb{G}$-operator space $(X, \alpha)$, we define a natural associated crossed product operator space $X\rtimes_\alpha \mathbb{G}$, which has canonical actions $X\rtimes_\alpha \mathbb{G} \curvearrowleft \mathbb{G}$ (the adjoint action) and $X\rtimes_\alpha \mathbb{G}\curvearrowleft \check{\mathbb{G}}$ (the dual action) where $\check{\mathbb{G}}$ is the dual quantum group. We then show that if $X$ is a $\mathbb{G}$-operator system, then $X\rtimes_\alpha \mathbb{G}$ is $\mathbb{G}$-injective if and only if $X\rtimes_\alpha \mathbb{G}$ is injective and $\mathbb{G}$ is amenable, and that (under a mild assumption) $X\rtimes_\alpha \mathbb{G}$ is $\check{\mathbb{G}}$-injective if and only if $X$ is $\mathbb{G}$-injective. We discuss how these results generalise and unify several recent results from the literature, and give new applications of these results. Among these applications are the following: equivariant injectivity passes to Vaes-closed quantum subgroups and the crossed product functor is compatible with injective envelopes (for compact and discrete quantum groups). We also give dynamical characterisations of inner amenability and amenability of a locally compact quantum group in terms of (inner) amenability or equivariant injectivity of natural associated actions, and we prove that every action of a co-amenable Kac compact quantum group is always amenable.

Abstract:The quantum lens spaces form a natural and well-studied class of noncommutative spaces which has been partially classified using algebraic invariants drawing on the developed classification theory of graph $C^*$-algebras. We introduce the problem of deciding when two quantum lens spaces are equivariantly isomorphic, and solve it in certain basic cases. The results can be formulated directly in terms of the parameters defining the quantum lens spaces, and here occasionally take on a rather complicated from which convinces us that there is a deep underlying explanation for our findings. We complement the fully established partial results with computer experiments that may indicate the way forward.

Abstract:Equivariant $K$-theory is a generalized equivariant cohomology theory which is a hybrid of the $K$-theory of a topological space and the representation theory of the group acting on it. In this article, we review the basics of equivariant $K$-theory and focus on the localization theorem and formula due to Atiyah and Segal, which have become important tools in equivariant topology nowadays. We then discuss the application of equivariant $K$-theory to equivariant formality, and briefly mention some recent developments.

Equivalences of the form $Σ^V X \simeq Σ^W X$ in equivariant stable homotopy theory

Abstract:We study equivalences of the form $\Sigma^{V}X\simeq \Sigma^{W}X$, where $G$ is a compact Lie group, $X$ is a $G$-spectrum, and $V$ and $W$ are $G$-representations. These equivalences encode a periodicity phenomenon in $G$-equivariant homotopy theory which generalizes the classical James periodicity for $G = C_2$. When $X = C(a_\lambda)$ is the cofiber of an Euler class, we construct an $RO(G)$-graded $J$-homomorphism $J\colon \pi_\lambda KO_G\rightarrow \pi_\star^G C(a_\lambda)^\times$ which gives control over these periodicities. It also produces infinite periodic families in the $G$-equivariant stable stems. We illustrate this with several explicit examples. More generally, our work gives information about $RO(G)$-graded units in equivariant stable cohomotopy rings. We apply this to construct universal periodicities and differentials in the $G$-homotopy fixed point spectral sequence, and other equivariant Atiyah--Hirzebruch spectral sequences.

Profinite equivariant spectra and their tensor-triangular geometry

Abstract:We study the tensor-triangular geometry of the category of equivariant $G$-spectra for $G$ a profinite group, $\mathsf{Sp}_G$. Our starting point is the construction of a ``continuous'' model for this category, which we show agrees with all other models in the literature. We describe the Balmer spectrum of finite $G$-spectra up to the ambiguity that is present in the finite group case; in particular, we obtain a thick subcategory theorem when $G$ is abelian. By verifying the bijectivity hypothesis for $\mathsf{Sp}_G$, we prove a nilpotence theorem for all profinite groups.

Abstract:In this paper, we show the equivalence between two seemingly distinct 2d TQFTs: one comes from the “Coulomb branch index” of the class 𝒮 theory T[Σ,G] on L(k,1) × S^1 , the other is the ^L G “equivariant Verlinde formula”, or equivalently partition function of ^L G_ℂ complex Chern–Simons theory on Σ× S^1 . We first derive this equivalence using the M-theory geometry and show that the gauge groups appearing on the two sides are naturally G and its Langlands dual ^L G . When G is not simply-connected, we provide a recipe of computing the index of T[Σ,G] as summation over the indices of T[Σ,G̃] with non-trivial background ’t Hooft fluxes, where G̃ is the universal cover of G . Then we check explicitly this relation between the Coulomb index and the equivariant Verlinde formula for G=SU(2) or SO (3). In the end, as an application of this newly found relation, we consider the more general case where G is SU ( N ) or PSU ( N ) and show that equivariant Verlinde algebra can be derived using field theory via (generalized) Argyres–Seiberg duality. We also attach a Mathematica notebook that can be used to compute the SU (3) equivariant Verlinde coefficients.

Abstract:The classical quadratic Gauss sum can be thought of as an exponential sum attached to a quadratic form on a cyclic group. We introduce an equivariant version of Gauss sum for arbitrary finite quadratic forms, which is an exponential sum twisted by the action of the orthogonal group. We prove that simple arithmetic formulae hold for some basic classes of quadratic forms. In application, such invariant appears in the dimension formula for certain vector-valued modular forms.

Equivariant Spectral Flow for Families of Dirac-type Operators

Abstract:In the setting of a proper, cocompact action by a locally compact, unimodular group $G$ on a Riemannian manifold, we construct equivariant spectral flow of paths of Dirac-type operators. This takes values in the $K$-theory of the group $C^*$-algebra of $G$. In the case where $G$ is the fundamental group of a compact manifold, the summation map maps equivariant spectral flow on the universal cover to classical spectral flow on the base manifold. We obtain "index equals spectral flow" results. In the setting of a smooth path of $G$-invariant Riemannian metrics on a $G$-spin manifold, we show that the equivariant spectral flow of the corresponding path of spin Dirac operators relates delocalised $\eta$-invariants and $\rho$-invariants for different positive scalar curvature metrics to each other.

Abstract:Given a commutative ring $R$, a $\pi_1$-$R$-equivalence is a continuous map of spaces inducing an isomorphism on fundamental groups and an $R$-homology equivalence between universal covers. When $R$ is an algebraically closed field, Raptis and Rivera described a full and faithful model for the homotopy theory of spaces up to $\pi_1$-$R$-equivalence by means of simplicial coalgebras considered up to a notion of weak equivalence created by a localized version of the Cobar functor. In this article, we prove a $G$-equivariant analog of this statement using a generalization of a celebrated theorem of Elmendorf. We also prove a more general result about modeling $G$-simplicial sets considered under a linearized version of quasi-categorical equivalence in terms of simplicial coalgebras.

Equivariant K-homology and K-theory for some discrete planar affine groups

Abstract:We consider the semi-direct products $G=\mathbb Z^2\rtimes GL_2(\mathbb Z), \mathbb Z^2\rtimes SL_2(\mathbb Z)$ and $\mathbb Z^2\rtimes\Gamma(2)$ (where $\Gamma(2)$ is the congruence subgroup of level 2). For each of them, we compute both sides of the Baum-Connes conjecture, namely the equivariant $K$-homology of the classifying space $\underline{E}G$ for proper actions on the left-hand side, and the analytical K-theory of the reduced group $C^*$-algebra on the right-hand side. The computation of the LHS is made possible by the existence of a 3-dimensional model for $\underline{E}G$, which allows to replace equivariant K-homology by Bredon homology. We pay due attention to the presence of torsion in $G$, leading to an extensive study of the wallpaper groups associated with finite subgroups. For the second and third groups, the computations in $K_0$ provide explicit generators that are matched by the Baum-Connes assembly map.

Homology of loops on a splitting-rank symmetric space via the Geometric Satake for real groups

Abstract:Using Nadler's Geometric Satake Equivalence for real reductive groups, we obtain a description of the equivariant homology of the loop space of splitting-rank symmetric spaces in terms of the relative dual group of the space. The description is in line with Yun and Zhu's calculation for the loop space of a compact Lie group. The formula hints at a relative duality for these spaces.

Abstract:We discuss the theory of equivariant localization focussing on applications relevant for holography. We consider geometries comprising compact and non-compact toric orbifolds, as well as more general non-compact toric Calabi–Yau singularities. A key object in our constructions is the equivariant volume , for which we describe two methods of evaluation: the Berline–Vergne fixed point formula and the Molien–Weyl formula, supplemented by the Jeffrey–Kirwan prescription. We present two applications in supersymmetric field theories. Firstly, we describe a method for integrating the anomaly polynomial of SCFTs on compact toric orbifolds. Secondly, we discuss equivariant orbifold indices that are expected to play a key role in the computation of supersymmetric partition functions. In the context of supergravity, we propose that the equivariant volume can be used to characterize universally the geometry of a large class of supersymmetric solutions. As an illustration, we employ equivariant localization to prove the factorization in gravitational blocks of various supergravity free energies, recovering previous results as well as obtaining generalizations.
