Abstract:In this paper, we use Aleksandrov's reflection principle to prove symmetry of solutions to F(∇Sn2u+uI)=f(u,u2+|∇Snu|2), where u is the support function of a convex body, and F is a function of principal radii. As a corollary, alongside [Ivaki, arXiv:2307.06252], we provide an alternative proof of the uniqueness of solution to the isotropic Gaussian-Minkowski problem.

Abstract:This work is focused on the study of the nonlinear elliptic higher order equation \begin{equation}\nonumber \left( -\Delta \right)^m u = S_k[-u] + \lambda f, \qquad x \in \mathbb{R}^N, \end{equation} where the $k-$Hessian $S_k[u]$ is the $k^{\mathrm{th}}$ elementary symmetric polynomial of eigenvalues of the Hessian matrix of the solution and the datum $f$ belongs to a suitable functional space. This problem is posed in $\mathbb{R}^N$ and we prove the existence of at least one solution by means of topological fixed point methods for suitable values of $m \in \mathbb{N}$. Questions related to the regularity of the solutions and extensions of these results to the nonlocal setting are also addressed. On the way to construct these proofs, some technical results such as a fixed point theorem and a refinement of the critical Sobolev embedding, which could be of independent interest, are introduced.

Entire subsolutions of a kind of k-Hessian type equations with gradient terms

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a kind of $k$-Hessian type equations $S_k^{\frac{1}{k}}(D^2u+\mu|D u|I)= f(u)$ in $\mathbb{R}^n$, and provide a necessary and sufficient condition of $f$ on the existence and nonexistence of entire admissible subsolutions, which can be regarded as a generalized Keller-Osserman condition. The existence and nonexistence results are proved in different ranges of the parameter $\mu$ respectively, which embrace the standard Hessian equation case ($\mu=0$) by Ji and Bao (Proc Amer Math Soc 138: 175--188, 2010) as a typical example. The difference between the semilinear case ($k=1$) and the fully nonlinear case ($k\ge 2$) is also concerned.

On the Solvability of General Inverse $σ_k$ Equations

Abstract:We prove that if there exists a $C$-subsolution to a constant coefficients strictly $\Upsilon$-stable general inverse $\sigma_k$ equation, then there exists a unique solution. As a consequence, this result covers all the analytical results of the classical strictly $\Upsilon$-stable general inverse $\sigma_k$ equations, for example, the complex Monge--Ampère equation, the complex Hessian equation, the J-equation, the deformed Hermitian--Yang--Mills equation, etc. Hence, we confirm an analytical conjecture by Collins--Jacob--Yau [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1508.01934" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1508.01934">arXiv:1508.01934</a>] of the solvability of the deformed Hermitian--Yang--Mills equation. Their conjecture states that the existence of a $C$-subsolution to a supercritical phase deformed Hermitian--Yang--Mills equation gives the solvability.

Very weak solutions of quadratic Hessian equations

Abstract:We extend the methods of Lewicka - Pakzad, Székelyhidi - Cao and Li - Qiu to study the notion of very weak solutions to the complex $\sigma_2$ equation in domains in $\mathbb C^n,\ n\geq 2$. As a by-product we sharpen the regularity threshold of the counterexamples obtained by Li and Qiu in the real case.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of smooth local solutions to Weingarten equations and $\sigma_k$-equations. We will prove that, for $2 \leq k \leq n$, the Weingarten equations and the $\sigma_k$-equations always have smooth local solutions regardless of the sign of the functions in the right-hand side of the equations. We will demonstrate that the associate linearized equations are uniformly elliptic if we choose the initial approximate solutions appropriately.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to studying the coupled system of multiparameter k -Hessian equations where B = { x ∈ R n : | x | < 1}, λ 1 , λ 2 are positive parameters, ρ i ( i = 1, 2) is singular near the boundary ∂B , f i ( i = 1, 2) satisfies a combined superlinear condition at ∞. Employing the fixed point theorem of Krasnosel'skii type in Banach space, the existence and multiplicity of nontrivial radial solutions are established. In particular, the dependence of the solutions on the parameters λ 1 , λ 2 is also discussed. Finally, we study the nonexistence results of nontrivial radial solutions for the case λ 1 , λ 2 ≫ 1.

A Priori Estimates Versus Arbitrarily Large Solutions for Fractional Semi-Linear Elliptic Equations with Critical Sobolev Exponent

Abstract:We study positive solutions to the fractional semi-linear elliptic equation (−∆)u = K(x)u n+2σ n−2σ in B2 \ {0} with an isolated singularity at the origin, where K is a positive function on B2, the punctured ball B2 \ {0} ⊂ R n with n ≥ 2, σ ∈ (0, 1), and (−∆)σ is the fractional Laplacian. In lower dimensions, we show that, for any K ∈ C(B2), a positive solution u always satisfies that u(x) ≤ C|x|−(n−2σ)/2 near the origin. In contrast, we construct positive functions K ∈ C(B2) in higher dimensions such that a positive solution u could be arbitrarily large near the origin. In particular, these results also apply to the prescribed boundary mean curvature equations on Bn+1.

Abstract:We study the long-time behavior of solutions of the $k$-Hessian evolution equation $u_t=S_{k}(D^2 u)$, posed on a bounded domain of the $n$-dimensional space with homogeneous boundary conditions. To this end, we construct a separable solution and we show that the long-time behavior of $u$ is precisely described by this special solution. Further, we initiate the study of that dynamic phenomenon on the entire space, providing a new class of explicit and radially symmetric self-similar solutions that we call $k$-Barenblatt solutions. These solutions present some common properties as those of well-known Barenblatt solutions for the porous media equation and the $p$-Laplacian equation. It is known that self-similar solutions are important in describing the intermediate asymptotic behavior of general solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the interior $C^2$ regularity problem for the Hessian quotient equation $\left(\frac{\sigma_n}{\sigma_k}\right)(D^2u)=f$. We give a complete answer to this longstanding problem: for $k=n-1,n-2$, we establish an interior $C^2$ estimate; for $k\leq n-3$, we show that interior $C^2$ estimate fails by finding a singular solution.

Abstract:We study the stationary Swift--Hohenberg equation $(\Delta + 1)^2 u - \alpha u - \beta u^2 + u^3=0$ in the whole space $\mathbb R^n$, $2\le n \le 7$. We develop and modify the variational approach introduced by Lerman, Naryshkin and Nazarov (2020) and obtain a series of periodic solutions with certain additional symmetries.

Abstract:We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for solving a general class of fully nonlinear elliptic equations on closed Riemannian or hermitian manifolds, including both hessian and hessian quotient equations. It settles an open problem of Li and Urbas. Such a condition is based on an analytic slope invariant analogous to the slope stability and the Nakai-Moishezon criterion in complex geometry. As an application, we solve the non-constant $J$-equation on both hermitian manifolds and singular Kähler spaces.

Abstract:It is shown that every entire classical strictly convex solution of the equation det D^{2}u=\exp\{n(-u+{1/2}\sum_{i=1}^{n}x_{i}\frac{\partial u}{\partial x_{i}})\}, should be a quadratic polynomial if the inferior limit of the smallest eigenvalue of the function $|x|^{2}D^{2}u$ at infinity has an uniform positive lower bound larger than 2. Using the similar methods we can prove that every classical convex solution of the equation sum_{i=1}^{n}\arctan\lambda_{i}=-u+{1/2}\sum_{i=1}^{n}x_{i}\frac{\partial u}{\partial x_{i}}. must be a quadratic polynomial, where $\lambda_{i}$s are eigenvalues f the Hessian $D^{2}u$. We also establish the relationship between self-similar solutions to Lagrangian mean curvature flow in Pseudo-Euclidean space and some Monge-Amp\`ere type equations.

Abstract:We prove that if a level set of a degree $n$ general inverse $\sigma_k$ equation $f(\lambda_1, \cdots, \lambda_n) = \lambda_1 \cdots \lambda_n - \sum_{k = 0}^{n-1} c_k \sigma_k(\lambda) = 0$ is contained in $q + \Gamma_n$ for some $q \in \mathbb{R}^n$, where $c_k$ are real numbers not necessary to be non-negative and $\Gamma_n$ is the positive orthant, then this level set is convex. As an application, this result justifies the convexity of the level set of all general inverse $\sigma_k$ type equations, for example, the Monge--Ampère equation, the Hessian equation, the J-equation, the deformed Hermitian--Yang--Mills equation, the special Lagrangian equation, etc. Moreover, we find a numerical condition to verify whether a level set of a general inverse $\sigma_k$ equation is contained in $q + \Gamma_n$ for some $q \in \mathbb{R}^n$, which is a way to determine the convexity of this level set.

Abstract:In this paper, we give some existence and nonexistence results for nonradial entire large solutions of the Hessian equation $S_k\left(D^2 u\right)=b(x) u^\gamma$ in the sublinear case $0<\gamma<k$. The exact asymptotic behavior of large solutions at infinity is also studied when $b(x)$ is the oscillation of a radial function $|x|^{-l}$ at infinity for $l\leq k-1$.
