Abstract:In this article, we consider the global existence and uniqueness of the solution to the 2D incompressible non-resistive MHD system with non-equilibrium background magnetic field. Our result implies that a strong enough non-equilibrium background magnetic field will guarantee the stability of the nonlinear MHD system. Beside the classical energy method, the interpolation inequalities and the algebraic structure of the equations coming from the incompressibility of the fluid are crucial in our arguments.

Abstract:We prove the global existence and the decay estimates of small smooth solution for the 2-D MHD equations without magnetic diffusion. This confirms the numerical observation that the energy of the MHD equations is dissipated at a rate independent of the ohmic resistivity.

Abstract:In this paper, we provide a much simplified proof of the main result in [Lin, Xu, Zhang, arXiv:1302.5877] concerning the global existence and uniqueness of smooth solutions to the Cauchy problem for a 2D incompressible viscous and non-resistive MHD system under the assumption that the initial data are close to some equilibrium states. Beside the classical energy method, the interpolating inequalities and the algebraic structure of the equations coming from the incompressibility of the fluid are crucial in our arguments. We combine the energy estimates with the L^∞ estimates for time slices to deduce the key L^1 in time estimates. The latter is responsible for the global in time existence.

Abstract:We address a threshold problem of the Couette flow $(y,0)$ in a uniform magnetic field $(\beta,0)$ for the 2D MHD equation on $\mathbb{T}\times\mathbb{R}$ with fluid viscosity $\nu$ and magnetic resistivity $\mu$. The nonlinear enhanced dissipation and inviscid damping are also established. In particularly, when $0<\nu\leq\mu^3\leq1$, we get a threshold $\nu^{\frac{1}{2}}\mu^{\frac{1}{3}}$ in $H^N(N\geq4)$. When $0<\mu^3\leq\nu\leq1$, we obtain a threshold $\min\{\nu^{\frac{1}{2}},\mu^{\frac{1}{2}}\}\min\{1,\nu^{-1}\mu^{\frac{1}{3}}\}$, hence improving the results in [19,14,21].

Abstract:We are concerned with the 3D stochastic magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations driven by additive noise on torus. For arbitrarily prescribed divergence-free initial data in $L^{2}_x$, we construct infinitely many probabilistically strong and analitically weak solutions in the class $L^{r}_{\Omega}L_{t}^{\gamma}W_{x}^{s,p}$, where $r>1$ and $(s, \gamma, p)$ lie in a supercritical regime with respect to the the Ladyžhenskaya-Prodi-Serrin (LPS) criteria. In particular, we get the non-uniqueness of probabilistically strong solutions, which is sharp at one LPS endpoint space. Our proof utilizes intermittent flows which are different from those of Navier-Stokes equations and derives the non-uniqueness even in the high viscous and resistive regime beyond the Lions exponent 5/4. Furthermore, we prove that as the noise intensity tends to zero, the accumulation points of stochastic MHD solutions contain all deterministic solutions to MHD solutions, which include the recently constructed solutions in [28, 29] to deterministic MHD systems.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the quantum MHD equations with both the viscosity coefficient and the magnetic diffusion coefficient are depend on the density. we prove the global existence of weak solutions and perform the lower planck limit in a 3-dimensional torus for large initial data. The global existence is shown by using Faedo-Galerkin method and weak compactness techniques for the adiabatic exponent $\gamma>1$.

Abstract:We study the electron magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) in two dimensional geometry, which has a rich family of steady states. In an anisotropic resistivity context, we show global in time existence of small smooth solution near a shear type steady state. Convergence rate of the solution to the steady state is also obtained.

Abstract:Whether the global well-posedness of strong solutions of $n$-dimensional compressible isentropic magnetohydrodynamic (MHD for short) equations without magnetic diffusion holds true or not remains an challenging open problem, even for the small initial data. In recent years, stared from the pioneer work by Wu and Wu [Adv. Math. 310 (2017), 759--888], much more attention has been paid to the system when the magnetic field near an equilibrium state (the background magnetic field for short). In particular, when the background magnetic field satisfies the Diophantine condition (see (1.3) for details), Wu and Zhai [Math. Models Methods Appl. Sci. 33 (2023), no. 13, 2629--2656] established the decay estimates and asymptotic stability for smooth solutions of the 3D compressible isentropic MHD system without magnetic diffusion in $H^{4r+7}(\mathbb{T}^3)$ with $r>2$ by exploiting a wave structure. In this paper, a new dissipative mechanism is found out and applied so that we can improve the spaces where the decay estimates and asymptotic stability of solutions are taking place by Wu and Zhai. More precisely, we establish the decay estimates of solutions in $H^{r+1}(\mathbb{T}^n)$ and asymptotic stability result in $H^{\left(3r+3\right)^+}(\mathbb{T}^n)$ for any dimensional periodic domain $\mathbb{T}^n$ with $n\geq 2$ and $r>n-1$. Our results provide an approach for establishing the decay estimates and asymptotic stability in the Sobolev spaces with much lower regularity and uniform dimension, which can be used to study many other related models such as the compressible non-isentropic MHD system without magnetic diffusion and so on.

Abstract:Whether the global existence and uniqueness of strong solutions of $n$-dimensional incompressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD for short) equations with only kinematic viscosity or magnetic diffusion holds true or not remains an outstanding open problem. In recent years, more attention has been paid to the case when the magnetic field close to an equilibrium state (the background magnetic field for short). Specifically, when the background magnetic field satisfies the Diophantine condition (see (1.2) for details), Chen, Zhang and Zhou [Sci. China Math. 41 (2022), pp.1-10] first studied the perturbation system and established the decay estimates and stability of its solutions in 3D periodic domain $\mathbb{T}^3$, which was then improved to $H^{(3+2\beta)r+5+(\alpha+2\beta)}(\mathbb{T}^2)$ for 2D periodic domain $\mathbb{T}^2$ and any $\alpha>0$, $\beta>0$ by Zhai [J. Differ. Equ. 374 (2023), pp.267-278]. In this paper, we seek to find the optimal decay estimates and improve the space where the global stability is taking place. Through deeply exploring and fully utilizing the structure of perturbation system, we discover a new dissipative mechanism, which enables us to establish the decay estimates in Sobolev space with much lower regularity. Based on the above discovery, we greatly reduce the initial regularity requirement of aforementioned two works from $H^{4r+7}(\mathbb{T}^3)$ and $H^{(3+2\beta)r+5+(\alpha+2\beta)}(\mathbb{T}^2)$ to $H^{(3r+3)^+}(\mathbb{T}^n)$ for $r>n-1$ when $n=3$ and $n=2$ respectively. Additionally, we first present the linear stability result via the method of spectral analysis in this paper. From which, the decay estimates obtained for the nonlinear system can be seen as sharp in the sense that they are in line with those for the linearized system.

Abstract:In this paper, we exhibit non-uniqueness of Leray weak solutions of the forced magnetohydrodynamic (MHD for short) equations. Similar to the solutions constructed in \cite{ABC2}, we first find a special steady solution of ideal MHD equations whose linear unstability was proved in \cite{Lin}. It is possible to perturb the unstable scenario of ideal MHD to 3D viscous and resistive MHD equations, which can be regarded as the first unstable "background" solution. Our perturbation argument is based on the spectral theoretic approach \cite{Kato}. The second solution we would construct is a trajectory on the unstable manifold associated to the unstable steady solution. It is worth noting that these solutions live precisely on the borderline of the known well-posedness theory.
