Abstract:Let $\Gamma \subset \mathbb C$ be a curve of class $C(2,\alpha)$. For $z_{0}$ in the unbounded component of ${\mathbb C}\setminus \Gamma$, and for $n=1,2,...$, let $\nu_n$ be a probability measure with supp$(\nu_{n})\subset \Gamma$ which minimizes the Bergman function $B_{n}(\nu,z):=\sum_{k=0}^{n}|q_{k}^{\nu}(z)|^{2}$ at $z_{0}$ among all probability measures $\nu$ on $\Gamma$ (here, $\{q_{0}^{\nu},\ldots,q_{n}^{\nu}\}$ are an orthonormal basis in $L^2(\nu)$ for the holomorphic polynomials of degree at most $n$). We show that $\{\nu_{n}\}_n$ tends weak-* to $\hat\delta_{z_{0}}$, the balayage of the point mass at $z_0$ onto $\Gamma$, by relating this to an optimization problem for probability measures on the unit circle. Our proof makes use of estimates for Faber polynomials associated to $\Gamma$.

Abstract:Let f (z) = Sigma(infinity )(j=0)a(j)z(j )be a transcendental entire function and let f omega(z) = Sigma(infinity)(j=0) chi(j)(omega)a(j)z(j) be a random entire function, where chi(j)(omega) are independent and identically distributed random variables defined on a probability space (Omega, F, mu). In this paper, we first define a family of random entire functions, which includes Gaussian, Rademacher and Steinhaus entire functions. We prove that, for almost all functions in the family and for any constant C >1, there exist a constant r(0) = r(0)(omega) and a set E subset of [e, infinity) of finite logarithmic measure such that, for r > r(0) and r (sic) E, | log M(r, f) - N(r, 0, f(omega))| <= (C/A)(1/B) log(1/B) log M(r, f) + log log M(r, f), a.s. where A, B are constants, M(r, f) is the maximum modulus and N(r, 0, f) is the integrated zero-counting function of f. As a by-product of our main results, we prove Nevanlinna's second main theorem for random entire functions. Thus, the characteristic function of almost all functions in the family is bounded above by an integrated counting function, rather than by two integrated counting functions as in the classical Nevanlinna theory. For instance, we show that, for almost all Gaussian entire functions f omega and for any epsilon > 0, there is r0 such that, for r > r0, T (r, f) <= N(r, 0, f omega) + (1/2 + epsilon) log T (r, f ).

Abstract:We give some characterizations of the boundedness of the maximal or nonlinear commutators of the Hardy–Littlewood maximal function and sharp maximal function in variable exponent Lebesgue spaces when the symbols b belong to the Lipschitz spaces, by which some new characterizations of Lipschitz spaces and nonnegative Lipschitz functions are obtained. Some equivalent relations between the Lipschitz norm and the variable exponent Lebesgue norm are also given.

Abstract:For an analytic function $f(z)$ on the unit disk $|z|<1$ with $f(0)=f'(0)-1=0$ and $f(z)\ne0, 0<|z|<1,$ we consider the power deformation $f_c(z)=z(f(z)/z)^c$ for a complex number $c.$ We determine those values $c$ for which the operator $f\mapsto f_c$ maps a specified class of univalent functions into the class of univalent functions. A little surprisingly, we will see that the set is described by the variability region of the quantity $zf'(z)/f(z),~|z|<1,$ for the class in most cases which we consider in the present paper. As an unexpected by-product, we show boundedness of strongly spirallike functions.

Abstract:Let $f$ be analytic in the unit disk and $\mathcal{S}$ be the subclass of normalized univalent functions with $f(0) = 0$, and $f'(0) = 1$. Let $F$ be the inverse function of $f$, given by $F(w)=w+\sum_{n=2}^{\infty}A_nw^n$ defined on some disk $|w|\le r_0(f)$. The inverse logarithmic coefficients $\Gamma_n$, $n \in \mathbb{N}$, of $f$ are defined by the equation $ \log(F(w)/w)=2\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\Gamma_{n}w^{n},\,|w|<1/4.$ In this paper, we find the sharp upper and lower bounds for moduli difference of second and first inverse logarithmic coefficients, {\em i.e.,} $|\Gamma_2|-|\Gamma_1|$ for functions in class $\mathcal{S}$ and for functions in some important subclasses of univalent functions.

Abstract:In the present paper, we introduce and investigate a new class of analytic and bi-univalent functions f(z) in the open unit disk U. For this purpose, we make use of a linear combination of the following three functions:f(z)/z, f'(z) and zf ''(z)for a function belonging to the normalized univalent function class S. By applying the technique involving the Faber polynomials, we determine estimates for the general Taylor-Maclaurin coefficient of functions belonging to the analytic and bi-univalent function class which we have introduced here. We also demonstrate the not-too-obvious behaviour of the first two Taylor-Maclaurin coefficients of such functions.

It is proved that if an extremal Beltrami coefficient μ(z) is not uniquely extremal, then there exists an extremal Beltrami coefficient ?(z) in its equivalent class and a compact subset E ⊂ △ with positive measure such that the essential upper bound of ?(z) on E is less than the norm of [μ].

Abstract:Abstract We verify a long-standing conjecture on the membership of univalent harmonic mappings in the Hardy space, whenever the functions have a “nice” analytic part. We also produce a coefficient estimate for these functions, which is in a sense best possible. The problem is then explored in a new direction, without the additional hypothesis. Interestingly, our ideas extend to certain classes of locally univalent harmonic mappings. Finally, we prove a Baernstein-type extremal result for the function $\log (h'+cg')$ , when $f=h+\overline {g}$ is a close-to-convex harmonic function, and c is a constant. This leads to a sharp coefficient inequality for these functions.

It is required to find the least upper bound for a special form functional over . This problem is a generalization of the Turán problem for functions with support in a ball. A general solution to this problem for is obtained. As a consequence, new sharp inequalities are obtained for derivatives of entire functions of exponential spherical type.

Abstract:In Geometric Function Theory it is well known that the familiar Koebe function f(z)=z/(1-z)(2) is the extremal function for the class S* of starlike functions in the open unit disk U and also that the function g(z)=z/(1-z) is the extremal function for the class K of convex functions in the open unit disk U. However, the partial sum f(n) (z) of f(z) is not starlike in U and the partial sum g(n) (z) of g(z) is not convex in U. The aim of the present paper is to investigate the starlikeness and convexity of these partial sums f(n) (z) and g(n) (z). Computational and graphical usages of Mathematica (Version 4.0) as well as geometrical descriptions of the image domains in several illustrative examples are also presented.

Abstract:Let $\mathfrak{q}>2$ be a prime number, $\chi$ a primitive Dirichlet character modulo $\mathfrak{q}$ and $f$ a primitive holomorphic cusp form or a Hecke-Maass cusp form of level $\mathfrak{q}$ and trivial nebentypus. We prove the subconvex bound $$ L(1/2,f\otimes \chi)\ll \mathfrak{q}^{1/2-1/12+\varepsilon}, $$ where the implicit constant depends only on the archimedean parameter of $f$ and $\varepsilon$. The main input is a modifying trivial delta method developed in [1].

Abstract:Let $f$ be a holomorphic self-map of the unit disc. We show that if $\log (1-\lvert f(z) \rvert)$ is integrable on a sub-arc of the unit circle, $I$, then the set of Carathéodory angular derivatives of $f$ on $I$ is a countable union of Beurling-Carleson sets of finite entropy. Conversely, given a countable union of Beurling-Carleson sets, $E$, we construct a holomorphic self-map of the unit disc, such that its set of Carathéodory angular derivatives is equal to $E$ and $\log(1-\lvert f(z) \rvert)$ is integrable on the unit circle. Our main technical tools are the Aleksandrov disintegration Theorem and a characterization of countable unions of Beurling-Carleson sets due to Makarov and Nikolski.

Abstract:We study the function $\varphi_1$ of minimal $L^1$ norm among all functions $f$ of exponential type at most $\pi$ for which $f(0)=1$. This function, first studied by Hörmander and Bernhardsson in 1993, has only real zeros $\pm \tau_n$, $n=1,2, \ldots$, and the sequence $(\tau_n-n-\frac12)$ has $\ell^2$ norm bounded by $0.13$. The zeros $\tau_n$ can be computed by means of a fixed point iteration.
