Abstract:In a 2013 article, Eike Lau constructed a canonical morphism from the stack of $n$-truncated Barsotti-Tate groups over $F_p$ to the stack of n-truncated displays. He also proved that this morphism is a gerbe banded by a commutative group scheme. In this e-print we describe the group scheme explicitly. The stack of $n$-truncated Barsotti-Tate groups over $F_p$ has a generalization related to any pair $(G,\mu)$, where $G$ is a smooth group scheme over $Z/p^n$ and $\mu$ is a 1-bounded cocharacter of $G$. The same is true for the stack of $n$-truncated displays. We conjecture that in this more general situation the first stack is a gerbe over the second one banded by a commutative group scheme, and we give a conjectural description of this group scheme.

Abstract:Deformations of ordinary varieties of K3 type can be described in terms of displays by recent work of Langer-Zink. We extend this to the general (non-ordinary) case using displays with $G$-structure for a reductive group $G$. As a basis we suggest a modified definition of the tensor category of displays and variants which is similar to the Frobenius gauges of Fontaine-Jannsen.

Abstract:We show that the moduli problem of deformations of nilpotent displays by quasi-isogenies is representable, without using $p$-divisible groups. The main ingredients are Artin's criterion and the theory of truncated displays. This gives in particular a new proof for the representability of Rapoport-Zink spaces.

Abstract:We first recall Grothendieck's notion of n-truncated Barsotti-Tate group. Such groups form an algebraic stack over the integers. The problem is to give an illuminating description of its reductions modulo powers of p. A related problem is to construct analogs of these reductions related to general Shimura varieties with good reduction at p. We discuss some conjectures on this subject based on the theory of prismatic cohomology.

Abstract:We develop tools to study spaces of $p$-divisible groups and Abelian varieties with additional structure. More precisely, we extend the definition of parahoric (Dieudonné) $(\mathcal{G}, \mu)$-displays given by Pappas to not necessarily $p$-torsionfree base rings and also introduce the notion of an $(m, n)$-truncated $(\mathcal{G}, \mu)$-display. Then we study the deformation theory of Dieudonné $(\mathcal{G}, \mu)$-displays. As an application we realize the EKOR stratification of the special fiber of a Kisin-Pappas integral Shimura variety of Hodge type as the fibers of a smooth morphism into the algebraic stack of $(2, 1\text{-}\mathrm{rdt})$-truncated $(\mathcal{G}, \mu)$-displays.

Abstract:We show that the Zink equivalence between p-divisible groups and Dieudonne displays over a complete local ring with perfect residue field of characteristic p is compatible with duality. The proof relies on a new explicit formula for the p-divisible group associated to a Dieudonne display.

Abstract:We prove a deformation theorem for prismatic higher $(G,\mu)$-displays over quasi-syntomic rings. As an application, we extend the classification of $p$-divisible groups via prismatic Dieudonné modules to a class of rings properly containing quasi-syntonic rings. Finally, we related the stack of prismatic higher $(G,\mu)$-displays to integral local Shimura varieties.

Abstract:For a smooth affine group scheme $G$ over the ring of $p$-adic integers and a cocharacter $\mu$ of $G$, we develop the deformation theory for $G$-$\mu$-displays over the prismatic site of Bhatt-Scholze, and discuss how our deformation theory can be interpreted in terms of prismatic $F$-gauges introduced by Drinfeld and Bhatt-Lurie. As an application, we prove the local representability and the formal smoothness of integral local Shimura varieties with hyperspecial level structure. We also revisit and extend some classification results of $p$-divisible groups.

Abstract:For a smooth affine group scheme $G$ over the ring of $p$-adic integers $\mathbb{Z}_p$ and a cocharacter $\mu$ of $G$, we study $G$-$\mu$-displays over the prismatic site of Bhatt-Scholze. In particular, we obtain several descent results for them. If $G=\mathrm{GL}_n$, then our $G$-$\mu$-displays can be thought of as Breuil-Kisin modules with some additional conditions. The relation between our $G$-$\mu$-displays and prismatic $F$-gauges introduced by Drinfeld and Bhatt-Lurie is also discussed. In fact, our results are formulated and proved for smooth affine group schemes over the ring of integers $\mathcal{O}_E$ of any finite extension $E$ of $\mathbb{Q}_p$ by using $\mathcal{O}_E$-prisms, which are $\mathcal{O}_E$-analogues of prisms.

Abstract:In 2011, Barot and Marsh provided an explicit construction of presentation of a finite Weyl group $W$ by any quiver mutation-equivalent to an orientation of a Dynkin diagram with Weyl group $W$. The construction was extended by the authors of the present paper to obtain presentations for all affine Coxeter groups, as well as to construct groups from triangulations of unpunctured surfaces and orbifolds, where the groups are invariant under change of triangulation and thus are presented as quotients of numerous distinct Coxeter groups. We extend the construction to include most punctured surfaces and orbifolds, providing a new invariant for almost all marked surfaces.

Abstract:A display of a topological group G on a Banach space X is a topological isomorphism of G with the isometry group Isom(X,||.||) for some equivalent norm ||.|| on X, where the latter group is equipped with the strong operator topology. Displays of Polish groups on separable real spaces are studied. It is proved that any closed subgroup of the infinite symmetric group S_\infty containing a non-trivial central involution admits a display on any of the classical spaces c0, C([0,1]), lp and Lp for 1 <=p <\infty. Also, for any Polsih group G, there exists a separable space X on which {-1,1} x G has a display.

Structural aspects of truncated archimedean vector lattices: simple elements, good sequences

Abstract:The truncation operation facilitates the articulation and analysis of several aspects of the structure of archimedean vector lattices; we investigate two such aspects in this article. We refer to archimedean vector lattices equipped with a truncation as \emph{truncs}. In the first part of the article we review the basic definitions, state the (pointed) Yosida Representation Theorem for truncs, and then prove a representation theorem which subsumes and extends the (pointfree) Madden Representation Theorem. The proof has the virtue of being much shorter than the one in the literature, but the real novelty of the theorem lies in the fact that the topological data dual to a given trunc $G$ is a (localic) compactification, i.e., a dense pointed frame surjection $q \colon M \to L$ out of a compact regular pointed frame $M$. The representation is an amalgam of the Yosida and Madden representations; the compact frame $M$ is sufficient to describe the behavior of the bounded part $G^*$ of $G$ in the sense that $\widetilde{G}^*$ separates the points of the compact Hausdorff pointed space $X$ dual to $M$, while the frame $L$ is just sufficient to capture the behavior of the unbounded part of $G$ in $\mathcal{R}_0 L$. The truncation operation lends itself to identifying those elements of a trunc which behave like characteristic functions, and in the second part of the article we characterize in several ways those truncs composed of linear combinations of such elements. Along the way, we show that the category of such truncs is equivalent to the category of pointed Boolean spaces, and to the category of generalized Boolean algebras. The short third part contains a characterization of the kernels of truncation homomorphisms in terms of pointwise closure. In it we correct an error in the literature.
On p-torsions of geometric Brauer groups

Abstract:Let $X$ be a smooth projective integral variety over a finitely generated field $k$ of characteristic $p>0$. We show that the finiteness of the exponent of the $p$-primary part of $\mathrm{Br}(X_{k^s})^{G_k}$ is equivalent to the Tate conjecture for divisors, generalizing D'Addezio's theorem for abelian varieties to arbitrary smooth projective varieties. In combination with the Leray spectral sequence for rigid cohomology derived from the Berthelot conjecture recently proved by Ertl-Vezzani, we show that the cokernel of $\mathrm{Br}_{\mathrm{nr}}(K(X)) \rightarrow \mathrm{Br}(X_{k^s})^{G_k}$ is of finite exponent. This completes the $p$-primary part of the generalization of Artin-Grothendieck's theorem on relations between Brauer groups and Tate-Shafarevich groups to higher relative dimensions.

Abstract:We extend recent results in order to construct projective resolutions for modules over twisted tensor products of truncated polynomial rings. We begin by taking note of the conditions necessary to think of these algebras as a type of Ore extension. We then use this parallel with Ore extensions to develop a method for constructing projective resolutions. Finally, we use the new construction to compute a resolution for a family of examples.

On the Hodge--Tate crystals over O_K

Abstract:We prove that a Hodge--Tate prismatic crystal on (O_K)_{\Prism} is uniquely determined by a topologically "nilpotent" operator. Using this operator, we construct a C_p-representation of G_K from a Hodge--Tate crystal in an explicit way. We then compute the cohomology of a Hodge--Tate crystal by using this operator and obtain the cohomological dimension of a crystal. In particular, we conjecture that this operator is essentially the classical Sen operator. As applications, under some mild assumption, we show the crystalline Breuil--Kisin modules admit "nilpotent connections" and give an explicit description of prismatic crystals. This "connection" is conjectured predicting the Hodge--Tate weights of associated crystalline representations.

Modular Representations of Truncated current Lie algebras

Abstract:In this paper we consider the structure and representation theory of truncated current algebras $\mathfrak{g}_m = \mathfrak{g}[t]/(t^{m+1})$ associated to the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ of a standard reductive group over a field of positive characteristic. We classify semisimple and nilpotent elements and describe their associated support varieties. Next, we prove various Morita equivalences for reduced enveloping algebras, including a reduction to nilpotent $p$-characters, analogous to a famous theorem of Friedlander--Parshall. We go on to give precise upper bounds for the dimensions of simple modules for all $p$-characters, and give lower bounds on these dimensions for homogeneous $p$-characters. We then develop the theory of baby Verma modules for homogeneous $p$-characters and, whenever the $p$-character has standard Levi type, we give a full classification of the simple modules. In particular we classify all simple modules with homogeneous $p$-characters for $\mathfrak{g}_m$ when $\mathfrak{g} = \mathfrak{gl}_n$. Finally, we compute the Cartan invariants for the restricted enveloping algebra $U_0(\mathfrak{g}_m)$ and show that they can be described by precise formulae depending on decomposition numbers for $U_0(\mathfrak{g})$.

On the prismatization of $O_K$ beyond the Hodge-Tate locus

Abstract:Let $X=\mathrm{Spf}(\mathcal{O}_K)$. We classify perfect complexes of $n$-truncated prismatic crystals on the prismatic site of $X$ when $n\leq 1+\frac{p-1}{e}$ by studying perfect complexes on the $n$-truncated prismatization of $X$, which are certain nilpotent thickenings of the Hodge-Tate stack of $X$ inside the prismatization of $X$. We describe the category of continuous semilinear representations and their cohomology for $G_K$ with coefficients in $B_{\mathrm{dR},n}^+$ via rationalization of vector bundles on the slight shrinking of the $n$-truncated prismatization of $X$. Along the way, we classify certain integral models for de Rham prismatic crystals studied in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2205.14914" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2205.14914">arXiv:2205.14914</a>.

Computably totally disconnected locally compact groups

Abstract:We study totally disconnected, locally compact (t.d.l.c.) groups from an algorithmic perspective. We give various approaches to defining computable presentations of t.d.l.c.\ groups, and show their equivalence. In the process, we obtain an algorithmic Stone-type duality between t.d.l.c.~groups and certain countable ordered groupoids given by the compact open cosets. We exploit the flexibility given by these different approaches to show that several natural groups, such as $\Aut(T_d)$ and $\SL_n(\QQ_p)$, have computable presentations. We show that many construction leading from t.d.l.c.\ groups to new t.d.l.c.\ groups have algorithmic versions that stay within the class of computably presented t.d.l.c.\ groups. This leads to further examples, such as $\PGL_n(\QQ_p)$. We study whether objects associated with computably t.d.l.c.\ groups are computable: the modular function, the scale function, and Cayley-Abels graphs in the compactly generated case. We give a criterion when computable presentations of t.d.l.c.~groups are unique up to computable isomorphism, and apply it to $\QQ_p$ as an additive group, and the semidirect product $\ZZ\ltimes \QQ_p$. We give (joint with Willis) an example of a computably t.d.l.c. group with noncomputable scale function.
