Abstract:We show that the Zink equivalence between p-divisible groups and Dieudonne displays over a complete local ring with perfect residue field of characteristic p is compatible with duality. The proof relies on a new explicit formula for the p-divisible group associated to a Dieudonne display.

Abstract:The Dieudonné crystal of a p-divisible group over a semiperfect ring R can be endowed with a window structure. If R satisfies a boundedness condition, this construction gives an equivalence of categories. As an application one obtains a classification of p-divisible groups and commutative finite locally free p-group schemes over perfectoid rings by Breuil-Kisin-Fargues modules if p>2.

Higher local duality in Galois cohomology

Abstract:A field $K$ is $d$-local if there exist fields $K=k_d,\dots,k_0$ with $k_{i+1}$ completely discretely valued with residue field $k_i$, and $k_0$ quasi-finite. We prove a duality theorem for the Galois cohomology of such $K$ with many coefficients, including finite coefficients of any order. Previously, such duality was only known in few cases : as a perfect pairing of finite groups for finite coefficients prime to $\mathrm{char} k_0$ in general, or for any finite coefficients when $k_1$ is $p$-adic ; or as a perfect pairing of locally compact Hausdorff groups for the $\mathrm{fppf}$ cohomology of finite group schemes when $K$ is local. With no obvious reasonable topology available, we abandon perfectness altogether and instead obtain nondegenerate pairings of abstract abelian groups. This is done with new diagram-chasing results for pairings of torsion groups, allowing an approach by dévissage which breaks our results down to the study of pairings $K^M_r(K)/p\times H^{d+1-r}_p(K)\to\mathbb Z/p$ using results of Kato.

A duality result about special functions in Drinfeld modules of arbitrary rank

Abstract:In the setting of a Drinfeld module $\phi$ over a curve $X/\mathbb{F}_q$, we use a functorial point of view to define \emph{Anderson eigenvectors}, a generalization of the so called "special functions" introduced by Anglès, Ngo Dac and Tavares Ribeiro, and prove the existence of a universal object $\omega_\phi$. We adopt an analogous approach with the dual Drinfeld module $\phi^*$ to define \textit{dual Anderson eigenvectors}. The universal object of this functor, denoted by $\zeta_\phi$, is a generalization of Pellarin zeta functions, can be expressed as an Eisenstein-like series over the period lattice, and its coordinates are entire functions over $X_{\mathbb{C}_\infty}\setminus\infty$. For all integers $i$ we define dot products $\zeta_\phi\cdot\omega_\phi^{(i)}$ as certain meromorphic differential forms over $X_{\mathbb{C}_\infty}\setminus\infty$, and prove they are actually rational. This amounts to a generalization of Pellarin's identity for the Carlitz module. Finally, we develop an algorithm to compute the forms $\zeta_\phi\cdot\omega_\phi^{(i)}$ when $X=\mathbb{P}^1$, and prove a conjecture of Gazda and Maurischat about the invertibility of special functions for Drinfeld modules of rank $1$.

Abstract:Given a p-adic representation of the Galois group of a local field, we show that its Galois cohomology can be computed using the associated étale (φ, Γ)-module over the Robba ring; this is a variant of a result of Herr. We then establish analogs, for not necessarily étale (φ, Γ)-modules over the Robba ring, of the Euler–Poincaré characteristic formula and Tate local duality for p-adic representations. These results are expected to intervene in the duality theory for Selmer groups associated to de Rham representations.
On $p$-adic Minkowski's Theorems

Abstract:Dual lattice is an important concept of Euclidean lattices. In this paper, we first give the right definition of the concept of the dual lattice of a $p$-adic lattice from the duality theory of locally compact abelian groups. The concrete constructions of ``basic characters'' of local fields given in Weil's famous book ``Basic Number Theory'' help us to do so. We then prove some important properties of the dual lattice of a $p$-adic lattice, which can be viewed as $p$-adic analogues of the famous Minkowski's first, second theorems for Euclidean lattices. We do this simultaneously for local fields $\mathbb{Q}_p$ (the field of $p$-adic numbers) and $\mathbb{F}_p((T))$ (the field of formal power-series of one indeterminate with coefficients in the finite field with $p$ elements).

Abstract:We give a new proof of the equivalence between the dessin partition function and the partition function of the Laguerre unitary ensemble (LUE), originally found by Ambjørn and Chekhov. We also introduce a correction factor for the dessin/LUE partition function, and show that the corrected dessin/LUE partition function is a Dubrovin–Zhang type tau-function of the Toda lattice hierarchy. As an application, we use the approach of Dubrovin and Zhang for the computation of the dessin correlators. In physicists’ terminology, we establish dualities among dessin counting, generalized Penner model, and P1 -topological sigma model.

Abstract:Wei's celebrated Duality Theorem is generalized in several ways, expressed as duality theorems for linear codes over division rings and, more generally, duality theorems for matroids. These results are further generalized, resulting in two Wei-type duality theorems for new combinatorial structures that are introduced and named {\em demi-matroids}. These generalize matroids and are the appropriate combinatorial objects for describing the duality in Wei's Duality Theorem. A new proof of the Duality Theorem is thereby given that explains the theorem in combinatorial terms. Special cases of the general duality theorems are also given, including duality theorems for cycles and bonds in graphs and for transversals.

Abstract:We use a double-duality argument to give a new proof of Dieudonné's theorem on spaces of singular matrices. The argument connects the situation to the structure of spaces of operators with rank at most $1$, and works best over algebraically closed fields.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a new explanation of congruences of Eisenstein series of level $\Gamma_1(N)$ and character $\chi$. Our approach is based on Katz's algebro-geometric explanation of $p$-adic congruences of normalized Eisenstein series $E_{2k}$ of level $1$. One crucial step in our argument is to reformulate a Riemann-Hilbert correspondence in Katz's explanation in terms of Dieudonné theory of height $1$ formal $A$-modules and their finite subgroup schemes. We give a generalization of this Riemann-Hilbert correspondence in terms of formal groups of height greater than $1$.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a $p$-divisible group over a complete discrete valuation ring $R$ of characteristic $p$. The generic fiber of $G$ determines a Galois representation $\rho$. The image of $\rho$ admits a ramification filtration and a Lie filtration. We relate these filtrations in the case $G$ is one dimensional, giving an equicharacteristic version of Sen's theorem in this setting. This result generalizes results of Gross and Chai. Additionally, we prove that the representation associated to the étale part of $G$ is irreducible.

Abstract:We use the theory of Condensed Mathematics to build a condensed cohomology theory for the Weil group of a $p$-adic field. The cohomology groups are proved to be locally compact abelian groups of finite ranks in some special cases. This allows us to enlarge the local Tate Duality to a more general category of non-necessarily discrete coefficients, where it takes the form of a Pontryagin duality between locally compact abelian groups.

Modularity "for free" in genome architecture?

Abstract:Background: Recent models of genome-proteome evolution have shown that some of the key traits displayed by the global structure of cellular networks might be a natural result of a duplication-diversification (DD) process. One of the consequences of such evolution is the emergence of a small world architecture together with a scale-free distribution of interactions. Here we show that the domain of parameter space were such structure emerges is related to a phase transition phenomenon. At this transition point, modular architecture spontaneously emerges as a byproduct of the DD process. Results: Although the DD models lack any functionality and are thus free from meeting functional constraints, they show the observed features displayed by the real proteome maps when tuned close to a sharp transition point separating a highly connected graph from a disconnected system. Close to such boundary, the maps are shown to display scale-free hierarchical organization, behave as small worlds and exhibit modularity. Conclusions: It is conjectured that natural selection tuned the average connectivity in such a way that the network reaches a sparse graph of connections. One consequence of such scenario is that the scaling laws and the essential ingredients for building a modular net emerge for free close to such transition.

Abstract:We prove a deformation theorem for prismatic higher $(G,\mu)$-displays over quasi-syntomic rings. As an application, we extend the classification of $p$-divisible groups via prismatic Dieudonné modules to a class of rings properly containing quasi-syntonic rings. Finally, we related the stack of prismatic higher $(G,\mu)$-displays to integral local Shimura varieties.

Abstract:We unite two themes in dyadic analysis and number theory by studying an analogue of the failure of the Hasse principle in harmonic analysis. Explicitly, we construct an explicit family of measures on the real line that are $p$-adic and $q$-adic doubling for any distinct primes $p$ and $q$, yet not doubling, and we apply these results to show analogous statements about the reverse Hölder and Muckenhoupt $A_p$ classes of weights. The proofs involve a delicate interplay among several geometric and number theoretic properties.

Abstract:We show Poincaré Duality for $\mathbf{F}_p$-étale cohomology of a smooth proper rigid-analytic space over a non-archimedean field $K$ of mixed characteristic $(0, p)$. It positively answers the question raised by P. Scholze in [Sch13a]. We prove duality via constructing Faltings' trace map relating Poincaré Duality on the generic fiber to (almost) Grothendieck Duality on the mod-$p$ fiber of a formal model. We also formally deduce Poincaré Duality for $\mathbf{Z}/p^n\mathbf{Z}$, $\mathbf{Z}_p$, and $\mathbf{Q}_p$-coefficients.

Abstract:In this paper we treat Grothendieck Duality for noetherian rings via rigid dualizing complexes. In particular, we prove that every ring, essentially finite type over a regular base ring, has a unique rigid dualizing complex. The rigid dualizing complexes have strong functorial properties, allowing us to construct the twisted induction pseudofunctor, which is our ring-theoretic version of the twisted inverse pseudofunctor $f^{!}$. This is the first article of a bigger project, whose final goal is establishing Grothendieck Duality, including global duality for proper maps, for Deligne-Mumford stacks.

Abstract:Berglund-Hübsch duality is an example of mirror symmetry between orbifold Landau-Ginzburg models. In this paper we study a D-module-theoretic variant of Borisov's proof of Berglund-Hübsch duality. In the $p$-adic case, the D-module approach makes it possible to endow the orbifold chiral rings with the action of a non-trivial Frobenius endomorphism. Our main result is that the Frobenius endomorphism commutes with Berglund-Hübsch duality up to an explicit diagonal operator.

Duality for Hodge-Witt cohomology with modulus

Abstract:Given an effective Cartier divisor D with simple normal crossing support on a smooth and proper scheme X over a perfect field of positive characteristic p, there is a natural notion of de Rham-Witt sheaves on X with zeros along D. We show that these sheaves correspond under Grothendieck duality for coherent sheaves to de Rham-Witt sheaves on X with modulus (X,D), as defined in the theory of cube invariant modulus sheaves with transfers developed by Kahn-Miyazaki-Saito-Yamazaki. From this we deduce refined versions of Ekedahl - and Poincaré duality for crystalline cohomology generalizing results of Mokrane and Nakkajima for reduced D, and a modulus version of Milne-Kato duality for étale motivic cohomology with p-primary torsion coefficients, which refines a result of Jannsen-Saito-Zhao. We furthermore get new integral models for rigid cohomology with compact supports on the complement of D and a modulus version of Milne's perfect Brauer group pairing for smooth projective surfaces over finite fields.
