Abstract:The Belle experiment has given a substantial contribution in the field of heavy quarkonia. Several new states were announced by Belle for the first time, in both charmonium and bottomonium spectrum, or the confirmation from Belle corroborated former observations. Belle II is a next-generation experiment, which aims to continue and expand further the Belle physics program. We report in this document about the current status of the experiment and early physics results. Particular attention is devoted to the results of the analyses of the data sets collected during the energy scan (Nov 2021).

Abstract:We present recent results from the Belle II experiment related to quarkonium and charm physics. With data samples collected by Belle II during operation of the SuperKEKB collider above the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance, we study the processes $e^+e^- \to \omega\chi_{bJ}(1P)$ ($J=0$, 1, or 2), search for the bottomonium equivalent of the X(3872) and measure the exclusive cross sections of $e^+e^- \to B\bar{B}$, $B\bar{B}^*$ and $B^*\bar{B}^*$. We also propose a new algorithm to determine the production flavor of neutral $D$ mesons. Finally, we report on a measurement of the $\Omega_c^0$ lifetime.

Abstract:The investigation of $B$ meson decays to charmed and charmless hadronic final states is a keystone of the Belle II program. Analyses of such decays provide reliable and experimentally precise constraints on the weak interactions of quarks. They are sensitive to effects from non-SM physics, and further our knowledge about uncharted $b\rightarrow c$ hadronic transitions. We present new results from combined analyses of Belle and Belle II data to determine the quark-mixing parameter $\phi_3$ (or $\gamma$), and from the Belle II analyses of two-body decays that are related to the determination of $\phi_2$ (or $\alpha$). We also present recent Belle II results on branching ratios and direct $\textit{CP}$-violating asymmetries of several $B$ decays, which result in a competitive standard-model test based on the $K\pi$ isospin sum rule and first observations of three new $B \rightarrow D^{(*)} K K_S^0$ decays.

Abstract:In the past twenty years, many new hadrons that are difficult to be explained within the conventional quark model have been discovered in the quarkonium region, which are called exotic hadrons. Belle II experiment, as the next-generation $B$ factory, provides a good platform to explore them. The charmonium-like states can be produced at Belle II in several ways, such as $B$ meson decays, initial-state radiation processes, two-photon collisions, and double charmonium productions. The bottomonium-like states can be produced directly in $e^+e^-$ colliding energies at Belle II with low continuum backgrounds. Belle II plans to perform a high-statistics energy scan from the $B\bar B$ threshold up to the highest possible energy of 11.24 GeV to search for new $Y_b$ states with $J^{PC}$ = $1^{--}$, $X_b$ (the bottom counterpart of $\chi_{c1}(3872)$ (also known as $X(3872)$)), and partners of $Z_b$ states. In this paper, we give a mini-review on the status and prospects of exotic hadrons at Belle II.

Abstract:Many charmonium-like and bottomonium-like XYZ resonances have been observed by the Belle, Babar, CLEO and BESIII collaborations in the past decade. They are difficult to fit in the conventional quark model and thus are considered as candidates of exotic hadrons, such as multi-quark states, meson molecules, and hybrids. In this talk, we first briefly introduce the method of QCD sum rules and then provide a short review of the mass spectra of the quarkonium-like tetraquark states and the heavy quarkonium hybrids in the QCD sum rules approach. Possible interpretations of the XYZ resonances are briefly discussed.

Abstract:Many of the XY Z resonances observed by the Belle, Babar, CLEO and BESIII collaborations in the past decade are difficult to interpret as conventional quark-antiquark mesons, motivating the consideration of scenarios such as multi-quark states, meson molecules, and hybrids. After a brief introduction to QCD sum-rule methods, we provide a brief but comprehensive review of the mass spectra of the quarkonium-like tetraquark states qQ (q) over bar(Q) over bar, doubly charmed/bottomed tetraquark states QQ (q) over bar(q) over bar and the heavy quarkonium hybrid states QGQ in the QCD sum rules approach. Abstract:We report on recent results obtained by the Belle II experiment related to searches for beyond-the-standard-model physics. The $B$ meson decay data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of $L = 189$ fb$^{-1}$. In recent years, discrepancies from standard-model predictions, which suggest violation of lepton-flavor universality, have emerged in multiple measurements of $B$-meson decays. In this document two analyses aimed to search for violation of the light-lepton universality are reported: the inclusive $R(X_{e/\mu})$ measurement and an angular analysis of the $B^0 \to D^{*-} l^+ \nu_l$, with $l=e,\mu$, decays. In addition, beyond-the-standard-model physics can manifests itself with the production of new particles. The search for a long-lived spin-0 particle in $b\to s$ transitions, and its interpretation in two dark sector models, is reported.

Abstract:The analyses of states with double $cs$ content and the search for exotics have recently gained much attention. The Belle experiment collected roughly 1 ab$^{-1}$ integrated luminosity data. While Belle II data-taking is in progress, we have performed a new search for exotic states and cross-section measurements with the full Belle data sets. Here we review the recent analysis of: (a) $e^+e^-\to D_s^{(*)+}+D_{sJ}^-$ + $c.c$. from both $\Upsilon(2S)$ decays and continuum production at 10.52 GeV, using the Belle detector at KEKB; (b) the analysis of $e^+e^- \to \eta_c J/\psi$ + $c.c.$ and search for double charmonium states; (c) the study of $e^+e^- \to D_s^+D_{s0}(2317)^-$ + $c.c.$ and $e^+e^- \to D_s^+D_{s1}(2460)^-$ + $c.c.$ + anything else, in the continuum. Born cross-sections are evaluated, and a possible confirmation of the states seen in the invariant mass system of $J/\psi\phi$ by LHCb in $B$ decays has been investigated.

Abstract:B-factories provide a unique environment to test the standard model in search for new physics. The Belle and Belle II experiments succeeded each other at KEK, in Tsukuba, Japan. During its lifetime, Belle collected $1{\,ab}^{-1}$ of data; at the time of this contribution, Belle II recorded $424{\,fb}^{-1}$ more aiming for an unprecedented sample of $50{\,ab}^{-1}$. This unique data set will allow them to search for new physics with unmatched precision. We discuss select recent results from both experiments.

Abstract:Semileptonic decays of $B$ mesons that proceed via $b\rightarrow u$ and $b\rightarrow c$ transitions, as well as rare leptonic $B$ decays, are fertile grounds for probing new physics beyond the Standard Model. The Belle II experiment presents as an excellent opportunity to study such decays, and since beginning operation in 2019, Belle II has already recorded half of the data collected by its predecessor and reached an instantaneous luminosity greater than $4\times 10^{34}$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$. Belle II expects to explore flavour physics with $B$ and charmed mesons with unprecedented precision, and has already produced multiple world-leading results in this area. We present recent results from Belle II on measurements of the CKM parameters $V_{ub}$ and $V_{cb}$ as well as results for $R(X_{e/\mu})$.

Abstract:The Belle~II Collaboration presents four new analyses: The measurement of $V_{ub}$ from $B \to \pi e \nu_e$ decays with a fit to the differential $q^2$ spectrum, the determination of $V_{cb}$ using a fit to the differential $w$ distribution from $B^0 \to D^{\ast -} \ell^+ \nu_\ell$ decays, and the measurement of $q^2$ moments in inclusive $B \to X_c \ell \nu_\ell$ decays. In all these analyses tag-side $B$ meson is reconstructed in a fully hadronic decay chain. The last result are branching fraction measurement of $B \to K^\ast \ell^+ \ell^-$ decays using an untagged approach.

Abstract:We present a tetraquark interpretation of the charged bottomonium-like states ${Z}_{b}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(10610)$ and ${Z}_{b}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(10650)$, observed by the Belle collaboration in the ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(nS)$ $(n=1,2,3)$ and ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}{h}_{b}(mP)$ $m=1$, 2) invariant mass spectra from the data taken near the peak of the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(5S)$. In this framework, the underlying processes involve the production and decays of a vector tetraquark ${Y}_{b}(10890)$, ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{Y}_{b}(10890)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}[{Z}_{b}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(10610){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{\mp}},{Z}_{b}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(10650){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}]$ followed by the decays $[{Z}_{b}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(10610),{Z}_{b}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(10650)]\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(nS),{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}{h}_{b}(mP)$. Combining the contributions from the meson loops and an effective Hamiltonian, we are able to reproduce the observed masses of the ${Z}_{b}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(10610)$ and ${Z}_{b}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(10650)$. The analysis presented here is in agreement with the Belle data and provides crucial tests of the tetraquark hypothesis. We also calculate the corresponding meson-loop effects in the charm sector and find them dynamically suppressed. The charged charmonium-like states ${Z}_{c}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(3752)$ and ${Z}_{c}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(3882)$ can be searched for in the decays of the ${J}^{PC}={1}^{--}$ tetraquark state $Y(4260)$ via $Y(4260)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{Z}_{c}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(3752){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}$ and $Y(4260)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{Z}_{c}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(3882){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}$, with the subsequent decays $({Z}_{c}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(3752),{Z}_{c}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}(3882))\ensuremath{\rightarrow}(J/\ensuremath{\psi},{h}_{c}){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$.
