Abstract:A model for gas nanobubbles is proposed in which their remarkable stability is explained as due to the presence of a qualitatively different form of water covering the nanobubble surface layer which leads to a reduction of the diffusion coefficient by a factor of 10^9. It is shown that this new form of water is created by the interaction between the electrons of water molecules with the zero point vacuum electromagnetic field. The model gives an estimate for the life time of surface nanobubbles, explains why they are not influenced by surfactants and predicts that they should exhibit nonlinear paramagnetism.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper aims to solve the problem of the stability of nano - bubbles on the water surface and their magnetic properties. Specifically, the author proposes a model to explain why nano - bubbles can stably exist on the water surface for hours or even days, instead of rapidly dissolving within a few microseconds due to high Laplace pressure as expected. In addition, this model also explains why surfactants do not affect the stability of nano - bubbles and predicts that these nano - bubbles should exhibit non - linear paramagnetism. ### Main problems and solutions 1. **Stability of nano - bubbles**: - **Problem**: Normally, due to their high Laplace pressure ($\frac{2\gamma}{\rho}$, where $\gamma$ is the surface tension of the liquid and $\rho$ is the curvature radius of the bubble), nano - bubbles should rapidly dissolve into the liquid, but the experimentally observed nano - bubbles are very stable and can have a lifetime of several hours or days. - **Solution**: The author proposes a new aqueous - phase model, that is, a special form of water is formed on the surface of the nano - bubble, which consists of coherent nano - scale domains containing a certain number of electrons. These electrons interact with the zero - point vacuum electromagnetic field, causing the electron orbitals of water molecules to shift, thereby reducing the diffusion coefficient and making the nano - bubbles stably exist. 2. **Effect of surfactants**: - **Problem**: Normally, surfactants will reduce the surface tension, thereby shortening the lifetime of the bubble. However, experimental observations have found that surfactants have no effect on the stability of nano - bubbles. - **Solution**: According to the Frohlich theory, non - resonant molecules (such as surfactants) are repelled out of the coherent water layer by quantum forces, so they do not affect the stability of nano - bubbles. 3. **Magnetic properties**: - **Problem**: Do nano - bubbles have special magnetic properties? - **Solution**: The author predicts that nano - bubbles should exhibit non - linear paramagnetism because the electrons in the coherent water layer will produce collective motion under the action of an applied magnetic field, resulting in a change in the magnetic moment. Specifically, the magnetic moment of each water molecule is approximately $10^{-3}\mu_B$ ($\mu_B$ is the Bohr magneton), and the total magnetic moment of the entire nano - shell layer is approximately $10^6\mu_B$. ### Key assumptions and calculations of the model - **Coherent water layer**: The author assumes that a coherent water layer is formed on the surface of the nano - bubble, where the electrons of water molecules oscillate at a collective frequency $\Omega$, which is different from the transition frequency $\omega=\omega_2 - \omega_1$ of water molecules. - **Zero - point vacuum electromagnetic field**: The zero - point vacuum electromagnetic field interacts with the electrons of water molecules, causing the electron orbitals to shift, thereby forming a stable coherent structure. - **Frohlich force**: Non - resonant molecules (such as surfactants) are repelled out of the coherent water layer by quantum forces, which explains the phenomenon that surfactants do not affect the stability of nano - bubbles. - **Magnetic response**: Under the action of an applied magnetic field, the electrons in the coherent water layer produce collective motion, resulting in a change in the magnetic moment, which is manifested as non - linear paramagnetism. Through these assumptions and calculations, the author successfully explains the stability and magnetic properties of nano - bubbles, providing a new perspective for understanding this phenomenon.
