Abstract:Effective action for local composite operators is described for both the standard loop expansion formulation and an improved two-particle irreducible formulation. Rules for calculating multiloop contributions to the effective action are given in both formulations and are exemplified in the Gross-Neveu model in the large-N limit. Calculation of the exact effective action in the Gross-Neveu model is considerably simplified in the improved formulation. Results obtained from the conventional auxiliary field method, like dynamical symmetry breaking, non-classical solitions, etc., can all be obtained in the present formulation by dealing with the composite operators directly without introducing auxiliary fields. The present method can be applied to models in which the auxiliary field method is difficult to implement.

Abstract:We briefly introduce new multiloop capabilities of the Mathematica package FeynCalc 10 and a collection of interfaces connecting FeynCalc to such popular tools as QGRAF, Fiesta, pySecDec, LoopTools, KIRA, FIRE or Fermat. In addition to that, we showcase the application of these codes to the ongoing study of the soft-overlap contribution to $B_c \to \eta_c$ transition form factors at large hadronic recoil.

Abstract:Building on the open-loop algorithm we introduce a new method for the automated construction of one-loop amplitudes and their reduction to scalar integrals. The key idea is that the factorisation of one-loop integrands in a product of loop segments makes it possible to perform various operations on-the-fly while constructing the integrand. Reducing the integrand on-the-fly, after each segment multiplication, the construction of loop diagrams and their reduction are unified in a single numerical recursion. In this way we entirely avoid objects with high tensor rank, thereby reducing the complexity of the calculations in a drastic way. Thanks to the on-the-fly approach, which is applied also to helicity summation and for the merging of different diagrams, the speed of the original open-loop algorithm can be further augmented in a very significant way. Moreover, addressing spurious singularities of the employed reduction identities by means of simple expansions in rank-two Gram determinants, we achieve a remarkably high level of numerical stability. These features of the new algorithm, which will be made publicly available in a forthcoming release of the OpenLoops program, are particularly attractive for NLO multi-leg and NNLO real-virtual calculations.

Quantum-field multiloop calculations in critical dynamics

Abstract:The quantum-field renormalization group method is one of the most efficient and powerful tools for studying critical and scaling phenomena in interacting many-particle systems. The multiloop Feynman diagrams underpin the specific implementation of the renormalization group program. In recent years, multiloop computation has had a significant breakthrough in both static and dynamic models of critical behavior. In the paper, we focus on the state-of-the-art computational techniques for critical dynamic diagrams and the results obtained with their help. The generic nature of the evaluated physical observables in a wide class of field models is manifested in the asymptotic character of perturbation expansions. Thus, the Borel resummation of series is required to process multiloop results. Such a procedure also enables one to take high-order contributions into consideration properly. The paper outlines the resummation framework in dynamic models and the circumstances in which it can be useful. An important resummation criterion is the properties of the higher-order asymptotics of the perturbation theory. In static theories, these properties are determined by the method of instanton analysis. A similar approach is applicable in critical dynamics models. We describe the calculation of these asymptotics in dynamical models and present the results of the corresponding resummation.

Abstract:We revisit the contributions of order $\alpha^2(Z\alpha)^5m$ and $\alpha^2(Z\alpha)E_F$, respectively, to the Lamb shift and to the hyperfine splitting from mixed self-energy-vacuum-polarization diagrams, involving fermionic loop. We use modern multi-loop calculation techniques based on IBP reduction and differential equations. We construct the $\epsilon$-regular basis [LeeOnishchenko2019] and explicitly demonstrate that it is compatible with the renormalization. We obtain analytic results in terms of one-fold integral involving elliptic function and dilogarithm. As a by-product, we obtain the analogous contribution for the limiting cases of heavy and light fermionic loop.

Abstract:Loop is a powerful program construct in classical computation, but its power is still not exploited fully in quantum computation. The exploitation of such power definitely requires a deep understanding of the mechanism of quantum loop programs. In this paper, we introduce a general scheme of quantum loops and describe its computational process. The function computed by a quantum loop is defined, and a denotational semantics and a weakest precondition semantics of a quantum loop are given. The notions of termination and almost termination are proposed for quantum loops. This paper only consider the case of finite-dimensional state spaces. Necessary and sufficient conditions for termination and almost termination of a general quantum loop on any mixed input state are presented. A quantum loop is said to be (almost) terminating if it (almost) terminates on any input state. We show that a quantum loop is almost terminating if and only if it is uniformly almost terminating. It is observed that a small disturbance either on the unitary transformation in the loop body or on the measurement in the loop guard can make any quantum loop (almost) terminating, provided that some dimension restriction is satisfied. Moreover, a representation of the function computed by a quantum loop is given in terms of finite summations of matrices. To illustrate the notions and results obtained in this paper, two simple classes of quantum loop programs, one qubit quantum loops, and two qubit quantum loops defined by controlled gates, are carefully examined, and to show their expressive power, quantum loops are applied in describing quantum walks.

Abstract:With a key improvement, the auxiliary mass flow method is now able to compute Feynman integrals encountered in cutting-edge collider processes. We have successfully applied it to compute some integrals involved in two-loop electroweak corrections to e+e- -> HZ, two-loop QCD corrections to 3j, W=Z=H +2j, tt over bar H and 4j production at hadron colliders, and three-loop QCD corrections to tt over bar production at hadron colliders, all of which are crucial for precision frontier in collider physics in the following decade. Our results are important building blocks and benchmarks for future studies of these processes.

A Systematic and Efficient Method to Compute Multi-Loop Master Integrals

Abstract:We propose a novel method to compute multi-loop master integrals by constructing and numerically solving a system of ordinary differential equations, with almost trivial boundary conditions. Thus it can be systematically applied to problems with arbitrary kinematic configurations. Numerical tests show that our method can not only achieve results with high precision, but also be much faster than the only existing systematic method sector decomposition. As a by product, we find a new strategy to compute scalar one-loop integrals without reducing them to master integrals.

Abstract:Loop acceleration can be used to prove safety, reachability, runtime bounds, and (non-)termination of programs operating on integers. To this end, a variety of acceleration techniques has been proposed. However, all of them are monolithic: Either they accelerate a loop successfully or they fail completely. In contrast, we present a calculus that allows for combining acceleration techniques in a modular way and we show how to integrate many existing acceleration techniques into our calculus. Moreover, we propose two novel acceleration techniques that can be incorporated into our calculus seamlessly. An empirical evaluation demonstrates the applicability of our approach.

Interpolation of rational functions in loop calculations by using p-adic numbers

Abstract:The calculation and manipulation of large multi-variable rational functions is a key bottleneck in multi-loop calculations. In these conference proceedings, based on my article [Chawdhry (2023) <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2312.03672" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2312.03672">arXiv:2312.03672</a>], I present a technique to interpolate such rational functions in a compact form by evaluating them at special integer points chosen for their properties under a $p$-adic absolute value. I apply the technique to examples of large rational functions appearing in 2-loop 5-point massless non-planar amplitude calculations in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). The number of required numerical probes (per field) is found to be around 25 times smaller than in conventional techniques, and the obtained result is 130 times smaller.

Abstract:We present the new version of OpenLoops, an automated generator of tree and one-loop scattering amplitudes based on the open-loop recursion. One main novelty of OpenLoops 2 is the extension of the original algorithm from NLO QCD to the full Standard Model, including electroweak (EW) corrections from gauge, Higgs and Yukawa interactions. In this context, among several new features, we discuss the systematic bookkeeping of QCD-EW interferences, a flexible implementation of the complex-mass scheme for processes with on-shell and off-shell unstable particles, a special treatment of on-shell and off-shell external photons, and efficient scale variations. The other main novelty is the implementation of the recently proposed on-the-fly reduction algorithm, which supersedes the usage of external reduction libraries for the calculation of tree-loop interferences. This new algorithm is equipped with an automated system that avoids Gram-determinant instabilities through analytic methods in combination with a new hybrid-precision approach based on a highly targeted usage of quadruple precision with minimal CPU overhead. The resulting significant speed and stability improvements are especially relevant for challenging NLO multi-leg calculations and for NNLO applications.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel algorithm for multi-operand Logarithmic Number System (LNS) addition and subtraction is presented. In particular, the computation of the nonlinear functions required for logarithmic addition and subtraction is decomposed into computing 2/sup -x/, log/sub 2/(1+x), some additions, and some shifts. The error behaviour of the algorithm is analyzed, upper bounds of the computational error are provided and it is shown that the introduced Propagation Error Cancellation (PEG) technique and the Error Spectrum Shaping can significantly narrow the error distribution. The inherent parallelism of the proposed algorithm and the pipelinability that exists in the computation of 2/sup -x/ and log/sub 2/(1+x) by using polynomials are exploited by simple VLSI architectures that exhibit important speed-up over the equivalent ROM-based designs. Also, a rule for the determination of the optimal number of pipeline stages is suggested.

LoopSCC: Towards Summarizing Multi-branch Loops within Determinate Cycles

Abstract:Analyzing programs with loops is a challenging task, suffering from potential issues such as indeterminate number of iterations and exponential growth of control flow complexity. Loop summarization, as a static analysis method for concrete semantic interpretation, receives increasing focuses. It produces symbolic expressions semantically equivalent to the loop program. However, current loop summarization methods are only suitable for single-branch loops or multi-branch loops with simple cycles, without supporting complex loops with irregular branch-to-branch transitions. In this paper, we proposed LoopSCC, a novel loop summarization technique, to achieve concrete semantic interpretation on complex loop. LoopSCC analyzes the control flow at the granularity of single-loop-path and applies the strongly connected components (SCC for short) for contraction and simplification, resulting in the contracted single-loop-path graph (CSG for short). Based on the control flow information provided by the CSG, we can convert the loop summary into a combination of SCC summaries. When an SCC contains irregular branch-to-branch transitions, we propose to explore a convergent range to identify the determinate cycles of different execution paths, referred as oscillatory interval. The loop summarization composed of both iteration conditions and execution operations can eventually be derived recursively. Extensive experiments compared to six state-of-the-art loop interpretation methods are conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of LoopSCC. From the results, LoopSCC outperforms comparative methods in both interpretation accuracy and application effectiveness. Especially, LoopSCC achieves a 100% interpretation accuracy on public common-used benchmark. A systematical study for loop properties on three large-scale programs illustrates that LoopSCC presents outstanding scalability for real-world loop programs.

Abstract:Abstract This paper deals with three problems in finding numerical solutions of spatial linkage-loop equations, which have not yet been thoroughly solved. Four means have been adopted in order to solve these problems. An alternative method has been proposed. Compared with present numerical methods, the method suggested by the authors is characterized by a complete theoretical foundation, easy programming, and powerful adaptability. The effectiveness of this method is demonstrated with the kinematic analysis of a general spatial 7H linkage.
