Abstract:As a newly rising economic power, China is considered to have a huge job market. However, many graduates in China experience substantial pressure in getting a job upon graduation, as a university degree is no longer a “golden ticket” to employment. In this study, we aim to understand the underlying factors that influences fine arts graduates’ perceived employability, by incorporating the human capital theory and self-determination theory. Using an online survey, data was collected from 430 final year fine arts students from Guangxi, China. The findings showed that self-directed learning and career adaptability positively impacts perceived employability. While these relationships are found stronger when if graduates continue to receive advice and assistance from their lecturers. Altogether, these outcomes offer several implications that useful for academics and practitioners to manage employability issues more effectively.

Abstract:Employment is not only related to economic and social development, but also related to social stability and harmony, and involves many issues such as education reform. In the 21st century, the trend of education internationalization has presented fresh chances and difficulties for the job market of English department. Unemployment upon graduation is a common nightmare for English majors in China. Therefore, it is urgent to analyze the employment situation of English majors and put forward feasible strategies. This study aims to investigate the dilemmas and paths of Chinese English majors within the framework of education internationalization. This study discusses the dilemma of Chinese English majors in the job market, analyzes influencing factors, discusses several contradictions between the separation of profession and discipline, the weakening of English in basic education and the large demand, the academic English teaching and humanistic quality education, as well as graduates' immature career outlook and the real needs of society, and points out the countermeasures and suggestions to redefine compound talents, reduce the scale of schools, develop special training programs, balance the "humanism" and "instrumentality" of English Majors and enhance the students' professional ability and guide the correct career view.

Abstract:This paper, combined with the orientation of the School of Foreign Languages of Yangtze University that aims to cultivate "broad caliber, thick foundation, strong ability, high quality" talents, professional touch and employment channels for students, constructs a model framework for the employability of English major students. Meanwhile, based on the surveys of the employability of English majors in our school, the paper puts forward some proposals for optimizing the talent training program: Improving students’ competitiveness in the workplace and cultivating applied foreign language talents suitable for the needs of society by perfecting the discipline system, innovating the practice mode, expanding training channels and improving employment guidance.

Abstract:The evolution of the market system in China has had a significant impact on the career prospects of graduates, leading to a shift in the composition of the talent pool. To comprehensively elucidate and evaluate the predicament encountered by graduates in the labor market, it is essential for researchers to consider educational background as the fundamental basis for conducting such investigations. The Chinese population has been subject to the impact of many social ideals disseminated via numerous means, such as social media, parental guidance, and interactions with their immediate family members. The presence of certain social ideals and societal issues further intensifies the challenges experienced by a particular subset of individuals, namely humanities graduates. This study centers on the predicament faced by students majoring in the humanities and the educational department. It has been observed that students pursuing humanities disciplines have had challenges in securing employment opportunities. In response, institutions have implemented multidisciplinary approaches to address these issues. However, the outcomes of these efforts have not yielded the anticipated level of effectiveness. When humanities students engage in the process of job application, they often confront challenges such as comparatively lower remuneration, extended work hours, and a heavier workload in comparison to their counterparts. This paper highlights several challenges, including the increasing prevalence of science and engineering fields, the downsizing of technical positions in major corporations, and the emergence of new opportunities in the humanities. It emphasizes the importance for society, parents, and prospective college students to make informed decisions when selecting their desired academic disciplines.

Abstract:According to the previous announcement of the Ministry of Education, the number of college graduates in 2022 will again reach a record, 1.67 million more than in 2021. In that year's government worked report. "Employment" was mentioned 31 times. Whether college students have employed ability, is a major factor affecting employment. This study analyzes how to improve the employed ability of college students. First, the data are obtained in the form of questionnaires and interviews, and then the questionnaire results are statistically analyzed using chi-square test modeling method and the analytic hierarchy process. Finally, the employment model provides an important theoretical basis for the cultivation of college students' employed ability. A total of 102 questionnaires were collected. Conduct independent sample t-test to evaluate the relevance of the survey results. If p<0.05, the consequences are considered to be strongly correlated. Test analysis results in the questionnaire to ascertain the authenticity of the statistical results. According to the statistical analysis of the questionnaire, We can draw the following conclusions: many people have different choices, They have their own advantages and disadvantages, no matter whether they are seeking employment or upgrading their education, The specific effects vary from person to person. Upgrading their education can improve their competitiveness, but they may also miss the domestic employment environment. Employment may not satisfy themselves due to salary and other reasons. To sum up, we should continue to enhance and solve the employment problem of the future.

Abstract:With the rapid popularization of intelligent technology, the employment of English majors was facing more and more challenges. Both students and parents were confused about the narrow employment of foreign language majors. In this sense, foreign language majors in colleges and universities should not only focus on language learning and research, but also focus on language as a tool to engage in other professional learning or practice activities with a higher degree of internationalization. This study will interview college English majors through questionnaires to investigate their understanding of English major goals, their future career planning, and their suggestions on school curriculum setting and teaching methods. This study believes that the cultivation of college foreign language talents should make necessary adjustments according to the talent needs of the current environment, innovate the teaching model and teaching method to adapt to the constantly changing society, enhance the interdisciplinary consciousness, and pave the way for the success of students, which has practical significance for the success and development of English majors. At the same time, it helps to cultivate practical and applied talents under the current environment.

Abstract:This paper provides an in-depth analysis of the current employment situation of Chinese majors and puts forward corresponding countermeasures. By sorting out the employment profiles, employment fields and challenges faced by Chinese language graduates, it is found that there is a prominent contradiction between the supply and demand of Chinese language graduates, changes in the demand for vocational skills as well as a disconnect between education and actual demand. In view of these problems, this paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions for education reform and innovation, vocational skills improvement and broadening employment channels. It is hoped that these suggestions can provide certain reference and inspiration for the educational reform of Chinese language majors and the employment of graduates.

Abstract:This paper aims to find out the job opportunities and employers’ requirements for Business English graduates by using content analysis of recruitment advertisements listed in 3 popular Chinese job-hunting websites. Research results show that most job opportunities for Business English graduates are sales in non-public listed private firms located in China’s coastal area, and industry specifications are manufacturing and retail. Results also reveal that employers do not prefer the “business” feature of the new disciplinary.

Abstract:Based on nation-wide survey data of 2009,and using the methods of descriptive statistical analysis,stochastic frontier analysis,and ordered probit analysis,this paper presents an empirical study on the efficiency of job search of college graduates.The empirical results show that acquiring job information from institutions of higher education, individual social network and the internet,targeting jobs that match the education, and increasing job-search intensity may increase the employment probability and find jobs with better pay and higher satisfaction level.

Abstract:The social part-time job is an important social practice, which can make college students integrate into society in advance and lay the foundation for future employment. This article investigates English majors in a normal university in Jiangxi Province via the questionnaire and personal interview. Abstract:Nowadays, the world needs high-quality talents with multicultural awareness and intercultural communicative competence. English majors have advantages in language. They should adapt to the needs of the times and contribute to the practice of Chinese culture going out and the community of human destiny. It is important for both teachers and English majors to master strategies for intercultural communication. The paper takes foreign language teachers and English majors as the research objects. Quantitative and qualitative methods are adopted to investigate the current level of English majors' intercultural communicative competence and the problems encountered in cultivating students' intercultural communicative competence. Based on the results of the survey, it analyzes and puts forward strategies to improve the intercultural communicative competence of English majors. The results of this paper are instructive for teachers to optimize intercultural communicative teaching and develop intercultural communicative competence for English majors and provide new ideas and methods for future research in related fields.

Abstract:Today’s working market has been shifting dramatically every few years, and thus many majors such as the English language find themselves struggling to find thriving working opportunities.English proficiency has long been linked to success or failure in other subjects such as mathematics and science. Thus, lack of proficiency has a detrimental effect on the academic performance of students. With the globalization of commerce and businesses, and English being the undisputed international language, it has come to become a cornerstone in reaching out and understanding the needs and cultures of others. It is also a necessity for entrepreneurs that are opening their small businesses in order to cohesively deliver their innovations. Furthermore,human immigration in the northern American continent set record heights during this century creating one of the biggest waves of integration in history. With English being the recognized official language for two of the biggest countries in the world, there is a real need for these immigrants to become part of their new communities. So even though the English language graduates have witnessed a diminishing role in purely academic pursuits, other opportunities have emerged that require high efficiency in the English language.

Abstract:In recent years, the number of graduates in employment has increased significantly because of a boom in the number of graduates along with the advancement of the Enrollment Expansion Plan of Colleges and Universities in China. The issues about career selection and graduate employment have been enthusiastically discussed in academic circles as these issues are constantly emphasized by all walks of life. However, academic researchers often neglect matters pertaining graduates when they are already holding positions. This study believes that being employed is not the end point, but a new start, which means that matters pertaining graduates after being employed should also be cared about. This study specifically focuses on the post adaptability of graduates after being employed. In this study, through questionnaires, a number of employed Business English majors from the graduating class of 2011 to 2016 at H university in Shaanxi Province were selected. After that, using the variables from The Fitness Subscale of Adolescent Mental Health Quality Questionnaire, the participants’ post adaptability was studied.

Abstract:With the graduate enrollment expansion and the increasing share of female students,the labor market condition for female master degree holders has not improved as their educational attainment advances.There is still a significant gender gap in labor market achievement.Analysis based on 2005 and 2009 Peking University's College Graduate Employment Survey revealed that female graduates tended to rely on job search agencies and relatives or friends to find jobs in 2009.They paid more attention to salary,but had a lower job application-interview ratio and lower job search expenditure.In addition,female graduates had similar job satisfaction as their male counterparts in 2009,but male students with more interview opportunities were more satisfied with their first jobs.There was no significant gender difference in job search in 2005.In 2005,job search strategy had no impact on job satisfaction.In conclusion,although male and female master's degree holders were taking increasingly different job search strategies,the gender difference in job search process had not completely transformed into gender difference in employment quality.
