Abstract:In this paper, by making use of properties of elliptic functions, we describe meromorphic solutions of Fermat-type functional equations $f(z)^{n}+f(L(z))^{m}=1$ over the complex plane $\mathbb{C}$, where $L(z)$ is a nonconstant entire function, $m$ and $n$ are two positive integers. As applications, we also consider meromorphic solutions of Fermat-type difference and $q$-difference equations.

Abstract:Meromorphic solutions of non-linear differential equations of the form $f^n+P(z,f)=h$ are investigated, where $n\geq 2$ is an integer, $h$ is a meromorphic function, and $P(z,f)$ is differential polynomial in $f$ and its derivatives with small functions as its coefficients. In the existing literature this equation has been studied in the case when $h$ has the particular form $h(z)=p_1(z)e^{\alpha_1(z)}+p_2(z)e^{\alpha_2(z)}$, where $p_1, p_2$ are small functions of $f$ and $\alpha_1,\alpha_2$ are entire functions. In such a case the order of $h$ is either a positive integer or equal to infinity. In this article it is assumed that $h$ is a meromorphic solution of the linear differential equation $h'' +r_1(z) h' +r_0(z) h=r_2(z)$ with rational coefficients $r_0,r_1,r_2$, and hence the order of $h$ is a rational number. Recent results by Liao-Yang-Zhang (2013) and Liao (2015) follow as special cases of the main results.

Abstract:We consider transcendental meromorphic solutions with N ( r , f ) = S ( r , f ) of the following type of nonlinear differential equations: f^n + P_n - 2( f ) = p_1( z )e^α _1( z ) + p_2( z )e^α _2( z ), where n ≥ 2 is an integer, P n −2 ( f ) is a differential polynomial in f of degree not greater than n −2 with small functions of f as its coefficients, p 1 ( z ), p 2 ( z ) are nonzero small functions of f , and α 1 ( z ), α 2 ( z ) are nonconstant entire functions. In particular, we give out the conditions for ensuring the existence of meromorphic solutions and their possible forms of the above equation. Our results extend and improve some known results obtained most recently.

Abstract:In this paper, we study entire solutions and meromorphic solutions of the following Fermat Diophantine functional equations h( z_1, z_2) f+k( z_1, z_2) g^n=1 in ℂ^2 for integers n≥ 2 , where h( z_1, z_2) and k( z_1, z_2) are non-zero meromorphic functions in ℂ^2 , and show that f and g can reduce to a constant or rational function under the conditions that (kg^n)_z_1≢0 , ℒ( (hf)_z_2) ⊆ℒ( (kg^n)_z_1/(kg^n-1)) and ℒ(f)⊆ℒ( (kg^n)_z_1/(kg^n-1)) ignoring multiplicities or counting multiplicities.

Abstract:We study the properties of meromorphic solutions of the Schwarzian differential equations in the complex plane by using some techniques from the study of the class Wp. We find some upper bounds of the order of meromorphic solutions for some types of the Schwarzian differential equations. We also show that there are no wandering domains nor Baker domains for meromorphic solutions of certain Schwarzian differential equations.

Abstract:We investigate the meromorphic solutions of two types of nonlinear differential equations of the form bf(n) + af(n-1) f' + Q(d)(f) = u(z)e(v(z)), n >= d + 2, f(n) + f(n-1) f' + Q(d)(f) = P-1(z)e(alpha 1) + P-2(z)e(alpha 2), n >= d + 3, where a, b are constants with (a, b) not equal (0, 0) and n, d are positive integers, u, P-1, P-2 are nonzero rational functions, v, alpha(1), alpha(2) are nonconstant polynomials, and Q(d)(f) denotes a differential polynomial in f with rational functions as its coefficients. Our results improve some recent related results.

Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the growth order of the meromorphic solutions of complex functional difference equation of the form (∑λ∈I‍αλ(z)(∏ν=1n‍f(z+cν)lλ,ν))/(∑μ∈J‍βμ(z)(∏ν=1n‍f(z+cν)mμ,ν))=Q(z,f(p(z))), where I={λ=(lλ,1,lλ,2,…,lλ,n)∣lλ,ν∈ℕ⋃‍{0}, ν=1,2,…,n} and J={μ=(mμ,1,mμ,2,…,mμ,n)∣mμ,ν∈ℕ⋃‍{0}, ν=1,2,…,n} are two finite index sets, cν (ν=1,2,…,n) are distinct complex numbers, αλ(z) (λ∈I) and βμ(z) (μ∈J) are small functions relative to f(z), and Q(z,u) is a rational function in u with coefficients which are small functions of f(z), p(z)=pkzk+pk-1zk-1+⋯+p0∈ℂ[z] of degree k≥1. We also give some examples to show that our results are sharp.

Abstract:The main purpose of this article is concerned with the existence and the precise forms of the transcendental solutions of several refined versions of Fermat-type functional equations with polynomial coefficients in several complex variables by utilizing the Nevanlinna theory of meromorphic functions in several complex variables. In fact, we investigate the existence and forms of the transcendental solutions of non-linear quadratic trinomial equations in $\mathbb{C}^n$. As a consequence of our result, we show that solutions of binomial equations in $\mathbb{C}^n$ can be explored and this exploration broaden the scope of the study of functional equations in $ \mathbb{C}^n $. The results we obtained are improvements over certain recent findings, noted as remarks. In addition, some examples relevant to the content of the paper have been exhibited in support of the validation of each results. Further, we discuss situations when solutions of such equations does not exist.

In this paper, we prove that if $n\ge d+1$ and if it admits a meromorphic solution $f$ with finitely many poles, then $$\begin{equation*} f(z)=s(z)e^{v(z)/(n+1)} \quad \mbox {and}\quad Q_d(z,f)\equiv 0. \end{equation*}$$ With this in hand, we also prove that if $f$ is a transcendental entire function, then $f'p_k(f)+q_m(f)$ assumes every complex number $\alpha $, with one possible exception, infinitely many times, where $p_k(f), q_m(f)$ are polynomials in $f$ with degrees $k$ and $m$ with $k\ge m+1$. This result generalizes a theorem originating from Hayman [‘Picard values of meromorphic functions and their derivatives’, Ann. of Math. (2)70(2) (1959), 9–42].

Abstract:Let f be a meromorphic function in the complex plane, p_j polynomials for ( j=0, 1, 2, … , n ) and R ( z , f ) an irreducible rational function in f with small meromorphic functions relative to f as coefficients. Let n be a positive integer and I , J two index sets in ℤ^n . In this paper, we systematically study the growth order of meromorphic solutions to the functional equations of the form: ∑ _μ∈ Iα _μ(z)( ∏ _j=1^nf( p_j(z))^μ _j) /∑ _ν∈ Jβ _ν(z)( ∏ _j=1^nf( p_j(z))^ν _j) =R(z, f(p_0)). We not only obtain estimates of the growth order of its meromorphic solutions in all possible cases, but also give examples to show these estimates are the best possible.

Abstract:Suppose that $F$ is a smooth and connected complex surface (not necessarily compact) containing a smooth rational curve with positive self-intersection. Abstract:In this paper, we will deal with the existence and the form of transcendental meromorphic solutions of nonlinear differential equation f(n) + Q(d)(z, f) = p(1)(z)e(alpha 1(z)) + p(2)(z)e(alpha 2(z)), where n >= 4 is an integer, Q(d)(z, f) is a special differential polynomial in f of degree d = n - 1 with rational functions as its coefficients, p(1), p(2) are non-vanishing rational functions and alpha(1), alpha(2) are nonconstant polynomials. In particular, we can show that Conjecture 1 (in [6]) is true when Q(d)(z, f) has a special form.
