Abstract:We derive interior curvature bounds for admissible solutions of a class of curvature equations subject to affine Dirichlet data, generalizing a well-known estimate of Pogorelov for equations of Monge-Ampere type. For equations for which convexity of the solution is the natural ellipticity assumption, the curvature bound is proved for solutions with C-1,C-1 Dirichlet data. We also use the curvature bounds to improve and extend various existence results for the Dirichlet and Plateau problems.

Abstract:The note is concerned with the functional equation which is a generalised form of the so-called polynomial-like iterative equation. We investigate the existence of nondecreasing convex (both usual and higher order) solutions to this equation on open intervals using the Schauder fixed point theorem. The results supplement those proved by Trif (Aquat Math, 79:315–327, 2010) for the polynomial-like iterative equation by generalising them to a greater extent. This assertion is supported by some examples illustrating their applicability.

Abstract:Infinity, and the nonlinearity vanishes at least at order 2 at 0, it is well known that T epsilon = +infinity for a small enough. The aim of this gaper is to show that if one assumes only a weak decay of the Cauchy data at infinity, one has a lower bound T-epsilon greater than or equal to cexp(c epsilon (-u)) (mu = 2/3 if d = 2, mu = 1 if d greater than or equal to 3) when the nonlinearity satisfies a convenient "null condition".

Abstract:We show that solutions of time-dependent degenerate parabolic equations with super-quadratic growth in the gradient variable and possibly unbounded right-hand side are locally ${\mathcal C}^{0,\alpha}$. Unlike the existing (and more involved) proofs for equations with bounded right-hand side, our arguments rely on constructions of sub- and supersolutions combined with improvement of oscillation techniques.

Abstract:On quadratic hypersurfaces in H-2, we find the explicit forms of tangential Cauchy-Fueter operators and associated tangential Laplacians square(b). Then by using the Fourier transformation on the associated nilpotent Lie groups of step two, we construct the relative fundamental solutions to the tangential Laplacians and Szego kernels on the nondegenerate quadratic hypersurfaces. It is different from the complex case that the quaternionic tangential structures on the nondegenerate quadratic hypersurfaces in H-2 cannot be reduced to one standard model and the non-homogeneous tangential Cauchy-Fueter equations are solvable even in many convex cases. Abstract:We prove that if a level set of a degree $n$ general inverse $\sigma_k$ equation $f(\lambda_1, \cdots, \lambda_n) = \lambda_1 \cdots \lambda_n - \sum_{k = 0}^{n-1} c_k \sigma_k(\lambda) = 0$ is contained in $q + \Gamma_n$ for some $q \in \mathbb{R}^n$, where $c_k$ are real numbers not necessary to be non-negative and $\Gamma_n$ is the positive orthant, then this level set is convex. As an application, this result justifies the convexity of the level set of all general inverse $\sigma_k$ type equations, for example, the Monge--Ampère equation, the Hessian equation, the J-equation, the deformed Hermitian--Yang--Mills equation, the special Lagrangian equation, etc. Moreover, we find a numerical condition to verify whether a level set of a general inverse $\sigma_k$ equation is contained in $q + \Gamma_n$ for some $q \in \mathbb{R}^n$, which is a way to determine the convexity of this level set.

Abstract:We derive an a priori real Hessian estimate for solutions of a large family of geometric fully non-linear elliptic equations on compact Hermitian manifolds, which is independent of a lower bound for the right-hand side function. This improves on the estimates of Székelyhidi [57] and additionally applies to elliptic equations with a degenerate right-hand side. As an application, we establish the optimal C1,1 regularity of envelopes of (θ,m)-subharmonic functions on compact Hermitian manifolds.

Abstract:We prove that every subset of $\{1,\dots, N\}$ which does not contain any solutions to the equation $x+y+z=3w$ has at most $\exp(-c(\log N)^{1/5+o(1)})N$ elements, for some $c>0$. This theorem improves upon previous estimates. Additionally, our method has the potential to yield an optimal estimate for this problem that matches the known Behrend's lower estimate. Our approach relies on a new result on almost-periodicity of convolutions.

Abstract:Assuming Calabi symmetry, we prove that a numerical condition ensures the solvability of the complex $(k,l)$-Hessian equation, as conjectured by Székelyhidi. We also propose a conjecture on the existence of a $k$-subharmonic representative in a given cohomology class and confirm it under the assumption of Calabi symmetry or when the class is semiample.

Abstract:The goal of this note is to point out an erroneous formula for the generalised Hessian of the least squares associated with a system of linear inequalities, that was given in the paper "A finite Newton method for classification" by O.L. Mangasarian (Optim. Methods Softw. 17: 913--929, 2002) and reproduced multiple times in other publications. We also provide sufficient contiditions for the validity of Mangasarian's formula and show that Slater's condition guarantees that some particular elements from the set defined by Mangasarian belong to the generalised Hessian of the corresponding function.

Abstract:We initiate the study of $m$-subharmonic functions with respect to a semipositive $(1,1)$-form in Euclidean domains, providing a significant element in understanding geodesics within the context of complex Hessian equations. Based on the foundational Perron envelope construction, we prove a decomposition of $m$-subharmonic solutions, and a general comparison principle that effectively manages singular Hessian measures. Additionally, we establish a rooftop equality and an analogue of the Kiselman minimum principle, which are crucial ingredients in establishing a criterion for geodesic connectivity among $m$-subharmonic functions, expressed in terms of their asymptotic envelopes.

Abstract:We prove the existence of infinitely many entire convex solutions to the Monge-Amp\`ere equation ${\rm det} D^2 u=f$ in ${\Bbb R}^n$, assuming that the inhomogeneous term $f\ge 0$ and is of polynomial growth at infinity. When $f$ satisfies the doubling condition, we show that solution is of polynomial growth. As an application, we resolve the existence of translating solutions to a class of Gauss curvature flow.

Abstract:We extend the methods of Lewicka - Pakzad, Székelyhidi - Cao and Li - Qiu to study the notion of very weak solutions to the complex $\sigma_2$ equation in domains in $\mathbb C^n,\ n\geq 2$. As a by-product we sharpen the regularity threshold of the counterexamples obtained by Li and Qiu in the real case.
