Abstract:In this article, we introduce symbol calculus on a projective scheme. Using holomorphic Poisson structures, we construct deformations of ring structures for structure sheaves on projective spaces.

Abstract:We define a two-dimensional Contou-Carrère symbol, which is a deformation of the two-dimensional tame symbol and is a natural generalization of the (usual) one-dimensional Contou-Carrère symbol. We give several constructions of this symbol and investigate its properties. Using higher categorical methods, we prove reciprocity laws on algebraic surfaces for this symbol. We also relate the two-dimensional Contou-Carrère symbol to the two-dimensional class field theory.

Abstract:The complex projective structures considered is this article are compact curves locally modeled on $\mathbb{CP}^1$. To such a geometric object, modulo marked isomorphism, the monodromy map associates an algebraic one: a representation of its fundamental group into $\operatorname{PGL}(2,\mathbb{C})$, modulo conjugacy. This correspondence is neither surjective nor injective. Nonetheless, it is a local diffeomorphism [Hejhal, 1975]. We generalize this theorem to projective structures admitting poles (without apparent singularity and with fixed residues): the corresponding monodromy map (including Stokes data) is a local biholomorphism.

Abstract:We define a generalization of the Töplitz quantization, suitable for operators whose Töplitz symbols are singular. We then show that singular curve operators in Topological Quantum Fields Theory (TQFT) are precisely generalized Töplitz operators of this kind and we compute for some of them, and conjecture for the others, their main symbol, determined by the associated classical trace function.
On the symplectic structure over the moduli space of projective structures on a surface

Abstract:The moduli space of projective structures on a compact oriented surface $\Sigma$ has a holomorphic symplectic structure, which is constructed by pulling back, using the monodromy map, the Atiyah--Bott--Goldman symplectic form on the character variety ${\rm Hom}(\pi_1(\Sigma), \text{PSL}(2, {\mathbb C}))/\!\!/\text{PSL}(2, {\mathbb C})$. We produce another construction of this symplectic form. This construction shows that the symplectic form on the moduli space is actually algebraic. Note that the monodromy map is only holomorphic and not algebraic, so the first construction does not give algebraicity of the pulled back form.

Abstract:A meromorphic quadratic differential on a compact Riemann surface defines a complex projective structure away from the poles via the Schwarzian equation. In this article we first prove the analogue of Thurston's Grafting Theorem for the space of such structures with signings at regular singularities. This extends previous work of Gupta-Mj which only considered irregular singularities. We also define a framed monodromy map from the signed space extending work of Allegretti-Bridgeland, and we characterize the PSL(2,C)-representations that arise as holonomy, generalizing results of Gupta-Mj and Faraco-Gupta. As an application of our Grafting Theorem, we also show that the monodromy map to the moduli space of framed representations (as introduced by Fock-Goncharov) is a local biholomorphism, proving a conjectured analogue of a result of Hejhal.

Abstract:In this paper we prove that the classical Lie bracket of vector fields can be generalized to the noncommutative setting by antisymmetrizing (in a suitable noncommutative sense) their compositions. To accomplish this, we study linear differential operators on modules over a unital associative algebra equipped with an exterior algebra. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for jet modules to be representing objects for differential operators, which is, a priori, a key desideratum for any theory of noncommutative differential geometry. Further, we construct natural symbol maps, which play a crucial rôle in the construction of the aforementioned Lie bracket.

Abstract:We study point modules of monomial algebras associated with symbolic dynamical systems, parametrized by proalgebraic varieties which 'linearize' the underlying dynamical systems. Faithful point modules correspond to transitive sub-systems, equivalently, to monomial algebras associated with infinite words. In particular, we prove that the space of point modules of every prime monomial algebra with Hilbert series $1/(1-t)^2$ -- which is thus thought of as a 'monomial $\mathbb{P}^1$' -- is isomorphic to a union of a classical projective line with a Cantor set. While there is a continuum of monomial $\mathbb{P}^1$'s with non-equivalent graded module categories, they all share isomorphic parametrizing spaces of point modules. In contrast, free algebras are geometrically rigid, and are characterized up to isomorphism from their spaces of point modules. Furthermore, we derive enumerative and ring-theoretic consequences from our analysis. In particular, we show that the formal power series counting the irreducible components of the moduli schemes of truncated point modules of finitely presented monomial algebras are rational functions, and classify isomorphisms and automorphisms of projectively simple monomial algebras.

Abstract:We treat the notion of principal symbol mapping on a compact smooth manifold as a $\ast$-homomorphism of $C^{\ast}$-algebras. Principal symbol mapping is built from the ground, without referring to the pseudodifferential calculus on the manifold. Our concrete approach allows us to extend Connes Trace Theorem for compact Riemannian manifolds.

Abstract:We generalize the theory of Contou-Carrère symbols to higher dimensions. To an $(n+1)$-tuple $f_0,\dots,f_n \in A((t_1))\cdots((t_n))^{\times}$, where $A$ denotes a commutative algebra over a field $k$, we associate an element $(f_0,\dots,f_n) \in A^{\times}$, compatible with the higher tame symbol for $k = A$, and earlier constructions for $n = 1$, by Contou-Carrère, and $n = 2$ by Osipov--Zhu. Our definition is based on the notion of \emph{higher commutators} for central extensions of groups by spectra, thereby extending the approach of Arbarello--de Concini--Kac and Anderson--Pablos Romo. Following Beilinson--Bloch--Esnault for the case $n=1$, we allow $A$ to be arbitrary, and do not restrict to artinian $A$. Previous work of the authors on Tate objects in exact categories, and the index map in algebraic $K$-theory is essential in anchoring our approach to its predecessors. We also revisit categorical formal completions, in the context of stable $\infty$-categories. Using these tools, we describe the higher Contou-Carrère symbol as a composition of boundary maps in algebraic $K$-theory, and conclude the article by proving a version of Parshin--Kato reciprocity for higher Contou-Carrère symbols.

Creating quantum projective spaces by deforming q-symmetric algebras

Abstract:We construct a large collection of "quantum projective spaces", in the form of Koszul, Calabi-Yau algebras with the Hilbert series of a polynomial ring. We do so by starting with the toric ones (the q-symmetric algebras), and then deforming their relations using a diagrammatic calculus, proving unobstructedness of such deformations under suitable nondegeneracy conditions. We then prove that these algebras are identified with the canonical quantizations of corresponding families of quadratic Poisson structures, in the sense of Kontsevich. In this way, we obtain the first broad class of quadratic Poisson structures for which his quantization can be computed explicitly, and shown to converge, as he conjectured in 2001.

Abstract:We present a generalization of the symbol calculus from ordinary multiple polylogarithms to their elliptic counterparts. Our formalism is based on a special case of a coaction on large classes of periods that is applied in particular to elliptic polylogarithms and iterated integrals of modular forms. We illustrate how to use our formalism to derive relations among elliptic polylogarithms, in complete analogy with the non-elliptic case. We then analyze the symbol alphabet of elliptic polylogarithms evaluated at rational points, and we observe that it is given by Eisenstein series for a certain congruence subgroup. We apply our formalism to hypergeometric functions that can be expressed in terms of elliptic polylogarithms and show that they can equally be written in terms of iterated integrals of Eisenstein series. Finally, we present the symbol of the equal-mass sunrise integral in two space-time dimensions. The symbol alphabet involves Eisenstein series of level six and weight three, and we can easily integrate the symbol in terms of iterated integrals of Eisenstein series.

Abstract:We study projective structures on a surface having poles of prescribed orders. We obtain a monodromy map from a complex manifold parameterising such structures to the stack of framed $\mathrm{PGL}_2(\mathbb{C})$ local systems on the associated marked bordered surface. We prove that the image of this map is contained in the union of the domains of the cluster charts. We discuss a number of open questions concerning this monodromy map.

Abstract:We discuss the cone and contraction theorem in a suitable complex analytic setting. More precisely, we establish the cone and contraction theorem of normal pairs for projective morphisms between complex analytic spaces. This result is a starting point of the minimal model program for complex analytic log canonical pairs. In this paper, we are mainly interested in normal pairs whose singularities are worse than kawamata log terminal singularities.

Abstract:We present symplectic structures on the shape space of unparameterized space curves that generalize the classical Marsden-Weinstein structure. Our method integrates the Liouville 1-form of the Marsden-Weinstein structure with Riemannian structures that have been introduced in mathematical shape analysis. We also derive Hamiltonian vector fields for several classical Hamiltonian functions with respect to these new symplectic structures.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a compact connected Riemann surface, and let ${\mathcal Q}(r,d)$ denote the quot scheme parametrizing the torsion quotients of ${\mathcal O}^{\oplus r}_X$ of degree $d$. Given a projective structure $P$ on $X$, we show that the cotangent bundle $T^*{\mathcal U}$ of a certain nonempty Zariski open subset ${\mathcal U}\, \subset\, {\mathcal Q}(r,d)$, equipped with the natural Liouville symplectic form, admits a canonical deformation quantization. When $r\,=\,1\,=\, d$, then ${\mathcal Q}(r,d)\,=\, X$; this case was addressed earlier in \cite{BB}.

Abstract:A quantization over a manifold can be seen as a way to construct a differential operator with prescribed principal symbol. The quantization map is moreover required to be a linear bijection. It is known that there is in general no natural quantization procedure. However, considering manifolds endowed with additional structures, such as projective or pseudo-conformal structures, one can seek for quantizations that depend on this additional structure and that are natural if the dependence with respect to the structure is taken into account. The question of existence of such a quantization was addressed in a series of papers in the context of projective geometry, using the framework of Thomas-Whitehead connections (see Bordemann, Hansoul and Fox). Recently, we recovered these existence results, using the theory of Cartan projective connections. In the present work, we show that our method can be adapted to pseudo-conformal geometry to yield the so-called natural and conformally invariant quantization for arbitrary symbols, still outside some critical situations. Our method is general enough to analyze the problem of invariant quantizations in the context of manifolds with irreducible parabolic geometries.

Abstract:We study several new invariants associated to a holomorphic projective structure on a Riemann surface of finite analytic type: the Lyapunov exponent of its holonomy which is of probabilistic/dynamical nature and was introduced in our previous work; the degree which measures the asymptotic covering rate of the developing map; and a family of harmonic measures on the Riemann sphere, previously introduced by Hussenot. We show that the degree and the Lyapunov exponent are related by a simple formula and give estimates for the Hausdorff dimension of the harmonic measures in terms of the Lyapunov exponent. In accordance with the famous Sullivan dictionary, this leads to a description of the space of such projective structures that is reminiscent of that of the space of polynomials in holomorphic dynamics.

Abstract:We develop a new semiclassical calculus in analytic regularity, and apply these techniques to the study of Berezin–Toeplitz quantization in real-analytic regularity. We provide asymptotic formulas for the Bergman projector and Berezin–Toeplitz operators on a compact Kähler manifold. These objects depend on an integer N and we study, in the limit $N\rightarrow +\infty $, situations in which one can control them up to an error $O(e^{-cN})$ for some $c>0$. We develop a calculus of Toeplitz operators with real-analytic symbols, which applies to Kähler manifolds with real-analytic metrics. In particular, we prove that the Bergman kernel is controlled up to $O(e^{-cN})$ on any real-analytic Kähler manifold as $N\rightarrow +\infty $. We also prove that Toeplitz operators with analytic symbols can be composed and inverted up to $O(e^{-cN})$. As an application, we study eigenfunction concentration for Toeplitz operators if both the manifold and the symbol are real-analytic. In this case we prove exponential decay in the classically forbidden region.
