Abstract:Beijing HI-13 tandem accelerator was in good operation in the past years.Considering the operation status of the equipment and the development demands of the laboratory,several upgrading projects were completed which include the upgrade of the injector system,energy re-calibration and improvements of the main vacuum system and the power supply of analyzing magnet.Moreover,a new special beam line was established and another one is under construction.The improvement of the radiation protection system is also in process.In addition to introducing the operation of the tandem accelerator,this paper describes the improvements of HI-13 tandem accelerator in our laboratory.

Abstract:We summarize the Fermilab Accelerator Complex Evolution (ACE) Science Workshop, held on June 14-15, 2023. The workshop presented the strategy for the ACE program in two phases: ACE Main Injector Ramp and Target (MIRT) upgrade and ACE Booster Replacement (BR) upgrade. Four plenary sessions covered the primary experimental physics thrusts: Muon Collider, Neutrinos, Charged Lepton Flavor Violation, and Dark Sectors. Additional physics and technology ideas were presented from the community that could expand or augment the ACE science program. Given the physics framing, a parallel session at the workshop was dedicated to discussing priorities for accelerator R\&D. Finally, physics discussion sessions concluded the workshop where experts from the different experimental physics thrusts were brought together to begin understanding the synergies between the different physics drivers and technologies.

Abstract:This whitepaper summarizes and the state of the field of high-power cyclotrons and FFAs as discussed by international experts during a three-day workshop of the same name. The workshop was held online from Sep 7 to Sep 9, 2021 as part of the US Snowmass'21 Community Exercise, specifically the Accelerator Frontier (AF) and the subpanel Accelerators for Neutrinos (AF02). Thus, we put emphasis on the application of high-power cyclotrons in particle physics, specifically neutrino physics, and as drivers for muon production. In the introduction, we discuss the role of cyclotrons for particle physics, and later we highlight existing and planned experiments in the corresponding sections. However, as these same accelerators have important applications in the fields of isotope production - both for research and medicine - and possibly even in energy research, by providing beam to demonstrator experiments in the areas of Accelerator Driven Systems (ADS), we include these far-reaching topics to provide a full picture of the status and applications of high-power cyclotrons. Furthermore, Fixed Field Alternating Gradient accelerators (FFAs) have recently seen renewed interest. They are in many respects (basic operating principles) similar to cyclotrons and have thus been included in this workshop and whitepaper as well. We are discussing current projects and whether FFAs have the prospect of becoming high-intensity machines.

Abstract:The Snowmass 2021 Accelerator Frontier topical group \# 6 on Advanced Accelerator Concepts, covers new R\&D concepts for particle acceleration, generation, and focusing. Based on community input, this report describes how leveraging these concepts to efficiently harness the interaction of charged particles with extremely high electromagnetic fields at very high frequencies can provide the keys to reaching ultra high acceleration gradients (GeV/m and beyond). These methods have potential to reduce the dimensions, C0$_2$ footprint, and costs of future high energy physics machines, with added potential to reduce power consumption for future e+e- and $\gamma - \gamma$ machines to and beyond 15 TeV energies. Techniques range from laser and beam driven plasma and advanced structure accelerators to advanced phase space manipulations and generation of beams with extreme parameters.

Abstract:The beam dynamics for a 201.25MHz 50mA 2.0MeV Deuteron RPQ accelerator with duty cycle of 10% lias been further improved by using equipartitioned method. The RPQ structure, mechanical design, thermal analysis and its cooling method have been investigated. The timing of Rf cavity for the field and other parameters has been simulated. A new developed ECR ion source and its setup have been completed and tested. The LEBT for the injection of RFQ is under the construction, and the HEBT at RPQ exit for the further applications has been designed and to be constructed in the near future. All the development results will be presented in this paper.

Abstract:The European Workshop on Photocathodes for (particle) Accelerator Applications (EWPAA) brings together experts in the field of photocathode based electron sources for use in particle accelerators, with the aim of sharing their knowledge and latest research and development progress in this crucial field of particle accelerator science. The workshop is convened every other year, and is thus complementary to the P3 workshop (Photocathode Physics for Particle accelerators) run in the USA. Consequently, there is a workshop focusing on photocathodes for particle accelerator applications convened every year, either in Europe or the USA. The EWPAA 2022 is the 4th meeting in this workshop series. The event was hosted by the INFN LASA Institute in Milan in collaboration with University of Milano between September 20th and 22nd. The programme was organised with 7 working groups, with each oral contribution assigned to the most appropriate group. This report presents, summarised by the work group conveners, the innovative ideas, the challenges and the main points raised by each of the speakers.

Abstract:As part of the Intensity Frontier effort within the 2013 Community Summer Study, a workshop on the proton machine capabilities was held (High Intensity Secondary Beams Driven by Proton Beams) April 17-20, 2013 at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY. Primary aims of the workshop were to understand: 1) the beam requirements for proposed high intensity proton beam based measurements; 2) the capabilities of existing world-wide high power proton machines; 3) proton facility upgrade plans and proposals for new facilities; 4) and to document the R&D needs for proton accelerators and target systems needed to support proposed intensity frontier measurements. These questions are addressed in this summary.

Abstract:Abstract We summarize the conclusions from Working Group 8 of the European Advanced Accelerator Concepts workshop in 2019 (EAAC2019) on the suitability and prospects for using advanced and novel accelerator (ANA) technology for future high-energy physics (HEP) applications. We identify the key technology gaps remaining for the main ANA approaches for building future e + /e − linear colliders and estimate the time scales needed to close them. We also identify synergistic development paths that can be leveraged to achieve key technology demonstration steps through non-HEP applications and through non-lepton-collider HEP applications.

Abstract:The effects of the parameters of RF system to electron beam intensity in Hefei storage ring are discussed in this paper. There appeared significant deviation respect to bean ideal orbit in the closed orbit distortion correction experiment, and therefore, necessary adjustments have been carried out for RF system parameters, such as frequency, cavity temperature, etc. ' to meet the requirement of intense beam injection. And the work have guidance effect to reconstruction of RF system in Phase II project of Hefei storage ring.

Abstract:For the next multi-megawatt accelerator generation, targets and other beam-intercepting components will face even more severe challenges due to the higher power densities, higher energy, and higher radiation. A comprehensive research and development program must be implemented to address the challenges. International collaborations such as RaDIATE or High Power Targetry Workshop should be leveraged and expanded to accelerate knowledge gain and avoid duplicated efforts. The next generation of high power targets will need novel designs allowing better high heat flux cooling methods, novel materials, advanced simulations, and better instrumentation. Four main R&D tracks were identified and discussed for targets. For electron sources, current state of art and challenges we are facing for key components such as cathodes, guns and injector design for sources R&D are presented for highly polarized electrons and unpolarized high current high brightness beams. For ion sources such as electron cyclotron resonance ion source (ECRIS), laser ion source (LIS), charge breeders, status of development are reviewed, and areas require investment for future R&D are discussed separately. Facilities critical for various source development are recommended.

Abstract:ADS technology is under study in China for the purpose to provide a new option for the development of nuclear power station, which is going to play a more important role in our newly increased power resources to meet the demand of the rapid economy growth. In an ADS basic research program supported by Chinese government, a long-pulse intense-beam RFQ accelerator will be built at IHEP, Beijing, as the means to master the key technology in a CW RFQ. At present we have finished the design of the RFQ with pulse beam current of 50mA, output energy of 3.5MeV and length of 4.7m with two segments coupled by a resonant coupling cell. A technological copper model cavity of 1.2m long has been machined. The RF power supply of 352.2MHz, 1.2 MW is now under installation. In this paper, we will report the R&D activities on the RFQ, including the beam dynamics design, 3-D cavity modeling, the copper model manufacture and the RF power supply.

Abstract:In the last a few years, several low energy accelerators were developed in China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) including the different energy, electron LINACs and Cockcroft-Walton machine for high intensity deuteron beam generation. And various R&D for the proposed project, the Upgrade Project of Beijing Tandem Accelerator Laboratory were carried out, such as the ion source and injection line of 100 MeV H- cyclotron, the target-source system of the isotope separator on line, et al. CYCIAE-30 is a 30 MeV medical cyclotron went into operation in 1995. Its recent operation status and isotope production will be described in this paper. The modification of the 2× 13 Tandem accelerator will be also introduced briefly. Its accelerating tubes will be replaced this year and the terminal voltage will be increased to 15 MV expected. The research activities related to Accelerator Driven Subcritical system are being implemented recently in CIAE. Its progress will be reported as a separate talk in this conference.

Abstract:The Snowmass report on rare processes and precision measurements recommended Mu2e-II and a next generation muon facility at Fermilab (Advanced Muon Facility) as priorities for the frontier. The Workshop on a future muon program at FNAL was held in March 2023 to discuss design studies for Mu2e-II, organizing efforts for the next generation muon facility, and identify synergies with other efforts (e.g., muon collider). Topics included high-power targetry, status of R&D for Mu2e-II, development of compressor rings, FFA and concepts for muon experiments (conversion, decays, muonium and other opportunities) at AMF. This document summarizes the workshop discussions with a focus on future R&D tasks needed to realize these concepts.

Abstract:This report summarizes the findings of the AF1 Topical Subgroup to Snowmass 2021, which investigates beam physics and accelerator education within the accelerator frontiers (AF). The report focuses primarily on opportunities for basic accelerator and beam physics, formulated into four grand challenges. In addition, the report also studies the current status of accelerator education, outreach and diversity issues. Physics limits of ultimate beams for future colliders are also briefly discussed.

Abstract:A multi-TeV muon collider offers a spectacular opportunity in the direct exploration of the energy frontier. Offering a combination of unprecedented energy collisions in a comparatively clean leptonic environment, a high energy muon collider has the unique potential to provide both precision measurements and the highest energy reach in one machine that cannot be paralleled by any currently available technology. The topic generated a lot of excitement in Snowmass meetings and continues to attract a large number of supporters, including many from the early career community. In light of this very strong interest within the US particle physics community, Snowmass Energy, Theory and Accelerator Frontiers created a cross-frontier Muon Collider Forum in November of 2020.
