Abstract: This paper discuss an intrinsic relation among congruent relations \cite{CLPZ}, cyclotomic expansion and Volume Conjecture for $SU(n)$ invariants. Motivated by the congruent relations for $SU(n)$ invariants obtained in our previous work \cite{CLPZ}, we study certain limits of the $SU(n)$ invariants at various roots of unit. First, we prove a new symmetry property for the $SU(n)$ invariants by using a symmetry of colored HOMFLYPT invariants. Then we propose some conjectural formulas including the cyclotomic expansion conjecture and volume conjecture for $SU(n)$ invariants (specialization of colored HOMFLYPT invariants). We also give the proofs of these conjectural formulas for the case of figure-eight knot.

Abstract:Let G be a finite abelian group with |G| > 1. Let a (1), aEuro broken vertical bar, a (k) be k distinct elements of G and let b (1), aEuro broken vertical bar, b (k) be (not necessarily distinct) elements of G, where k is a positive integer smaller than the least prime divisor of |G|. We show that there is a permutation pi on {1, aEuro broken vertical bar,k} such that a (1) b (pi(1)), aEuro broken vertical bar, a (k) b (pi(k)) are distinct, provided that any other prime divisor of |G| (if there is any) is greater than k!. This in particular confirms the Dasgupta-Karolyi-Serra-Szegedy conjecture for abelian p-groups. We also pose a new conjecture involving determinants and characters, and show that its validity implies Snevily's conjecture for abelian groups of odd order. Our methods involve exterior algebras and characters.

Abstract:We establish the asymptotic expansion of certain integrals of [Formula: see text] classes on moduli spaces of curves [Formula: see text], when either the [Formula: see text] or [Formula: see text] goes to infinity. Our main tools are cut-join type recursion formulae from the Witten–Kontsevich theorem, as well as asymptotics of solutions to the first Painlevé equation. We also raise a conjecture on large genus asymptotics for [Formula: see text]-point functions of [Formula: see text] classes and partially verify the positivity of coefficients in generalized Mirzakhani’s formula of higher Weil–Petersson volumes.
A composition method for neat formulas of chromatic symmetric functions

Abstract:We develop a composition method to unearth positive $e_I$-expansions of chromatic symmetric functions $X_G$, where the subscript $I$ stands for compositions rather than integer partitions. Using this method, we derive positive and neat $e_I$-expansions for the chromatic symmetric functions of tadpoles, barbells and generalized bulls, and establish the $e$-positivity of hats. We also obtain a compact ribbon Schur analog for the chromatic symmetric function of cycles.

Abstract:Egge, Loehr and Warrington gave in \cite{ELW} a combinatorial formula that permits to convert the expansion of a symmetric function, homogeneous of degree $n$, in terms of Gessel's fundamental quasisymmetric functions into an expansion in terms of Schur functions. Surprisingly the Egge, Loehr and Warrington result may be shown to be simply equivalent to replacing the Gessel fundamental by a Schur function indexed by the same composition. In this paper we give a direct proof of the validity of this replacement. This interpretation of the result in \cite{ELW} has already been successfully applied to Schur positivity problems.

Abstract:Recently Alexandersson and Getachew proved some multivariate generalizations of a formula for enumerating signed excedances in derangements. In this paper we first relate their work to a recent continued fraction for permutations and confirm some of their observations. Our second main result is two refinements of their multivariate identities, which clearly explain the meaning of each term in their main formulas. We also explore some similar formulas for permutations of type B.

Abstract:Based on the orthogonal Labastida-Mariño-Ooguri-Vafa conjecture made by L. Chen and Q. Chen (2012), we derive an infinite product formula for Chern-Simons partition functions, which generalizes Liu and Peng’s recent results to the orthogonal case. Symmetry property of this new infinite product structure is also discussed.

Abstract:The study of pattern avoidance in inversion sequences recently attracts extensive research interests. In particular, Zhicong Lin and Jun Ma conjectured a formula that counts the number of inversion sequences avoiding the pattern $0012$. We will not only confirm this conjecture but also give a formula that enumerates the number of $0012$-avoiding inversion sequences in which the last entry equals $n-1$.

Improved covering results for conjugacy classes of symmetric groups via hypercontractivity

Abstract:We study covering numbers of subsets of the symmetric group $S_n$ that exhibit closure under conjugation, known as \emph{normal} sets. We show that for any $\epsilon>0$, there exists $n_0$ such that if $n>n_0$ and $A$ is a normal subset of the symmetric group $S_n$ of density $\ge e^{-n^{2/5 - \epsilon}}$, then $A^2 \supseteq A_n$. This improves upon a seminal result of Larsen and Shalev (Inventiones Math., 2008), with our $2/5$ in the double exponent replacing their $1/4$. Our proof strategy combines two types of techniques. The first is `traditional' techniques rooted in character bounds and asymptotics for the Witten zeta function, drawing from the foundational works of Liebeck--Shalev, Larsen--Shalev, and more recently, Larsen--Tiep. The second is a sharp hypercontractivity theorem in the symmetric group, which was recently obtained by Keevash and Lifshitz. This synthesis of algebraic and analytic methodologies not only allows us to attain our improved bounds but also provides new insights into the behavior of general independent sets in normal Cayley graphs over symmetric groups.

Improved Exponent for Marton's Conjecture in $\mathbb{F}_2^n$

Abstract:A conjecture of Marton, widely known as the polynomial Freiman-Ruzsa conjecture, was recently proved by Gowers, Green, Manners and Tao for any bounded-torsion Abelian group $G$. In this paper we show a few simple modifications that improve their bound in $G=\mathbb{F}_2^n$. Specifically, for $G=\mathbb{F}_2^n$, they proved that any set $A\subseteq G$ with $|A+A|\le K|A|$ can be covered by at most $2K^C$ cosets of a subgroup $H$ of $G$ of cardinality at most $|A|$, with $C=12$. In this paper we prove the same statement for $C=9$.

Abstract:We combine two of Igusa's conjectures with recent semi-continuity results by Mustaţă and Popa to form a new, natural conjecture about bounds for exponential sums. These bounds have a deceivingly simple and general formulation in terms of degrees and dimensions only. We provide evidence consisting partly of adaptations of already known results about Igusa's conjecture on exponential sums, but also some new evidence like for all polynomials in up to $4$ variables. We show that, in turn, these bounds imply consequences for Igusa's (strong) monodromy conjecture. The bounds are related to estimates for major arcs appearing in the circle method for local-global principles.

Abstract:We propose a unified approach to prove general formulas for the joint distribution of an Eulerian and a Mahonian statistic over a set of colored permutations by specializing Poirier's colored quasisymmetric functions. We apply this method to derive formulas for Euler-Mahonian distributions on colored permutations, derangements and involutions. A number of known formulas are recovered as special cases of our results, including formulas of Biagioli-Zeng, Assaf, Haglund-Loehr-Remmel, Chow-Mansour, Biagioli-Caselli, Bagno-Biagioli, Faliharimalala-Zeng. Several new results are also obtained. For instance, a two-parameter flag major index on signed permutations is introduced and formulas for its distribution and its joint distribution with some Eulerian partners are proven.

Abstract:It is well known that descents and excedances are equidistributed in the symmetric group. We show that the descent and excedance enumerators, summed over permutations with a fixed first letter are identical when we perform a simple change of the first letter. We generalize this to type B and other colored permutation groups. We are led to defining descents and excedances through linear orders. With respect to a particular order, when the number of colors is even, we get a result that generalizes the type B results. Lastly, we get a type B counterpart of Conger's result which refines the well known Carlitz identity.

On some zero-sum invariants for abelian groups of rank three

Abstract:Let $G$ be an additive finite abelian group with exponent $\exp(G)$. For $L\subseteq \mathbb N$, let $\mathsf{s}_{L}(G)$ be the smallest integer $\ell$ such that every sequence $S$ over $G$ of length $\ell$ has a zero-sum subsequence $T$ of length $|T|\in L$. In this paper, we consider the invariants $\mathsf{s}_{[1,t]}(G)$ and $\mathsf{s}_{\{k\exp(G)\}}(G)$ (with $k\in \mathbb N$). We obtain precise values as well as upper bounds of the above invariants for some abelian groups of rank three. Some of these results improve previous results of Gao-Thangadurai and Han-Zhang.

Abstract:Schur--Weyl--Jones duality establishes the connection between the commuting actions of the symmetric group $S_{n}$ and the partition algebra $P_{k}(n)$ on the tensor space $\left(\mathbb{C}^n\right)^{\otimes k}.$ We give a refinement of this, determining a subspace of $\left(\mathbb{C}^n\right)^{\otimes k}$ on which we have a version of Schur--Weyl duality for the symmetric groups $S_{n}$ and $S_{k}.$ We use this refinement to construct subspaces of $\left(\mathbb{C}^n\right)^{\otimes k}$ that are isomorphic to certain irreducible representations of $S_{n}\times S_{k}.$ We then use the Weingarten calculus for the symmetric group to obtain an explicit formula for the orthogonal projection from $\left(\mathbb{C}^n\right)^{\otimes k}$ to each subspace.
