Abstract:We extend the set of known infinite families of Frobenius seaweed Lie subalgebras of $\mathfrak{sl}_{n}$ to include a family which is the first non-trivial general family containing algebras whose associated meanders have an arbitrarily large number of parts.

Abstract:The index of a seaweed Lie algebra can be computed from its associated meander graph. We examine this graph in several ways with a goal of determining families of Frobenius (index zero) seaweed algebras. Our analysis gives two new families of Frobenius seaweed algebras as well as elementary proofs of known families of such Lie algebras.

Abstract:If $\mathfrak{g}$ is a Frobenius Lie algebra, then the spectrum of $\mathfrak{g}$ is an algebraic invariant equal to the multiset of eigenvalues corresponding to a particular operator acting on $\mathfrak{g}$. In the case of Frobenius seaweed subalgebras of $A_{n-1}=\mathfrak{sl}(n)$, or type-A seaweeds for short, it has been shown that the spectrum can be computed combinatorially using an attendant graph. With the aid of such graphs, it was further shown that the spectrum of a type-A seaweed consists of an unbroken sequence of integers centered at $\frac{1}{2}$. It has been conjectured that if the eigenvalues are arranged in increasing order, then the sequence of multiplicities forms a unimodal sequence about $\frac{1}{2}$. Here, we establish this conjecture for certain families of Frobenius type-A seaweeds by finding explicit formulas for their spectra; in fact, for some families we are able to show that the corresponding sequences of multiplicities form log-concave sequences. All arguments are combinatorial.

Abstract:If $\mathfrak{g}$ is a Frobenius Lie algebra, then for certain $F\in \mathfrak{g}^*$ the natural map $\mathfrak{g}\longrightarrow \mathfrak{g}^* $ given by $x \longmapsto F[x,-]$ is an isomorphism. The inverse image of $F$ under this isomorphism is called a principal element. We show that if $\mathfrak{g}$ is a Frobenius seaweed subalgebra of $A_{n-1}=\mathfrak{sl}(n)$ then the spectrum of the adjoint of a principal element consists of an unbroken set of integers whose multiplicities have a symmetric distribution. Our proof methods are constructive and combinatorial in nature.

Abstract:A standard seaweed subalgebra of $A_{n-1}=\mathfrak{sl}(n)$ may be parametrized by a pair of compositions of the positive integer $n$. For all $n$ and certain $k(n)$, we provide closed-form formulas and the generating functions for $C(n,k)$ -- the number of parametrizing pairs which yield a seaweed subalgebra of $\mathfrak{sl}(n)$ of index $k$. Our analysis sets the framework for addressing similar questions in the other classical families.

Abstract:The index of a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ is defined by ind $\mathfrak{g}=$ $\min_{f\in \mathfrak{g}^*}\dim(\ker (B_f))$, where $f$ is an element of the linear dual $\mathfrak{g}^*$ and $B_f(x,y)=f([x,y])$ is the associated skew-symmetric Kirillov form. We develop a broad general framework for the explicit construction of regular (index realizing) functionals for seaweed subalgebras of $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ and the classical Lie algebras: $A_n=\mathfrak{sl}(n+1),$ $B_n=\mathfrak{so}(2n+1)$, and $C_n=\mathfrak{sp}(2n)$. Until now, this problem has remained open in $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ -- and in all the classical types.

Abstract:In 2000, Dergachev and Kirillov introduced subalgebras of "seaweed type" in $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ and computed their index using certain graphs. In this article, those graphs are called type-A meander graphs. Then the subalgebras of seaweed type, or just "seaweeds", have been defined by Panyushev (2001) for arbitrary simple Lie algebras. Namely, if $\mathfrak p_1,\mathfrak p_2\subset\mathfrak g$ are parabolic subalgebras such that $\mathfrak p_1+\mathfrak p_2=\mathfrak g$, then $\mathfrak q=\mathfrak p_1\cap\mathfrak p_2$ is a seaweed in $\mathfrak g$. A general algebraic formula for the index of seaweeds has been proposed by Tauvel and Yu (2004) and then proved by Joseph (2006). If $\mathfrak p_1$ and $\mathfrak p_2$ are "adapted" to a fixed triangular decomposition of $\mathfrak g$, then $\mathfrak q$ is said to be standard. The number of standard seaweeds is finite. In this paper, elaborating on the "graphical" approach of Dergachev and Kirillov, we introduce the type-C meander graphs, i.e., the graphs associated with the standard seaweeds of $\mathfrak{sp}(2n)$, and give a formula for the index in terms of these graphs. We also note that the very same graphs can be used in case of the odd orthogonal Lie algebras. We also provide several applications of our formula to the Frobenius seaweeds in $\mathfrak{sp}(2n)$. In particular, using a natural partition of the set $\mathcal F_n$ of standard Frobenius seaweeds, we prove that $\# \mathcal F_n$ strictly increases for the passage from $n$ to $n+1$. The similar monotonicity question is open for the standard Frobenius seaweeds in $\mathfrak{sl}(n)$, even for the passage from $n$ to $n+2$.

Abstract:Analogous to the types A, B, and C cases, we address the computation of the index of seaweed subalgebras in the type-D case. Formulas for the algebra's index can be computed by counting the connected components of its associated meander. We focus on a set of distinguished vertices of the meander, called the tail of the meander, and using the tail, we provide comprehensive combinatorial formulas for the index of a seaweed in all the classical types. Using these formulas, we provide all general closed-form index formulas where the index is given by a polynomial greatest common divisor formula in the sizes of the parts that define the seaweed.

Abstract:By using a free monoid of operators on the set of compositions (resp. pairs of compositions), we establish in this paper a bijective correspondence between Frobenius standard parabolic (resp. seaweed) subalgebras and certain elements of this monoid. We prove via this correspondence a conjecture of one of the authors on the number of Frobenius standard parabolic (resp. seaweed) subalgebras of $\mathrm{sl}_{n}(\Bbbk )$ associated to compositions (resp. pairs of compositions) with $n-t$ parts (resp. parts in total).

Abstract:In this paper, we first define the pre-Lie family algebra associated to a dendriform family algebra in the case of a commutative semigroup. Then we construct a pre-Lie family algebra via typed decorated rooted trees, and we prove the freeness of this pre-Lie family algebra. We also construct pre-Lie family operad in terms of typed labeled rooted trees, and we obtain that the operad of pre-Lie family algebras is isomorphic to the operad of typed labeled rooted trees, which generalizes the result of F. Chapoton and M. Livernet. In the end, we construct Zinbiel and pre-Poisson family algebras and generalize results of M. Aguiar.

In this article, we consider the most difficult and interesting case of type ${\sf D}$. Some new phenomena occurring here are related to the fact that the Dynkin diagram has a branching node.

Abstract:Seaweed Lie algebras are a natural generalisation of parabolic subalgebras of reductive Lie algebras. The well-known Richardson Theorem says that the adjoint action of a parabolic group has a dense open orbit in the nilpotent radical of its Lie algebra \cite{richardson}. We call elements in the open orbit Richardson elements. In \cite{JSY} together with Yu, we generalized Richardson's Theorem and showed that Richardson elements exist for seaweed Lie algebras of type $\mathbb{A}$. Using GAP, we checked that Richardson elements exist for all exceptional simple Lie algebras except $\mathbb{E}_8$, where we found a counterexample. In this paper, we complete the story on Richardson elements for seaweeds of finite type, by showing that they exist for any seaweed Lie algebra of type $\mathbb{B}$, $\mathbb{C}$ and $\mathbb{D}$. By decomposing a seaweed into a sum of subalgebras and analysing their stabilisers, we obtain a sufficient condition for the existence of Richarson elements. The sufficient condition is then verified using quiver representation theory. More precisely, using the categorical construction of Richardson elements in type $\mathbb{A}$, we prove that the sufficient condition is satisfied for all seaweeds of type $\mathbb{B}$, $\mathbb{C}$ and $\mathbb{D}$, except in two special cases, where we give a directproof.

Abstract:We present a new class of extended affine Weyl groups $\widetilde{W}^{(k,k+1)}(A_l)$ for $1\leq k <l$ and obtain an analogue of Chevalley-type theorem for their invariants. We further show the existence of Frobenius manifold structures on the orbit spaces of $\widetilde{W}^{(k,k+1)}(A_l)$ and also construct Landau--Ginzburg superpotentials for these Frobenius manifold structures.

Abstract:Let $\mathfrak q=Lie Q$ be an algebraic Lie algebra of index 1, i.e., a generic $Q$-orbit on $\mathfrak q^*$ has codimension 1. We show that the following conditions are equivalent: $\mathfrak q$ is contact; a generic $Q$-orbit on $\mathfrak q^*$ is not conical; there is a generic stabiliser for the coadjoint action of $\mathfrak q$. In addition, if $\mathfrak q$ is contact, then the subalgebra $S(\mathfrak q)_{\sf si}\subset S(\mathfrak q)$ generated by symmetric semi-invariants of $\mathfrak q$ is a polynomial ring. We study also affine seaweed Lie algebras of type ${\sf A}$ and find some contact as well as non-contact examples among them.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce two kinds of Lie conformal algebras, associated with the loop Schrödinger–Virasoro Lie algebra and the extended loop Schrödinger–Virasoro Lie algebra, respectively. Abstract:A celebrated result of Gromov ensures the existence of a contact structure on any connected, non-compact, odd dimensional Lie group. In general, such structures are not invariant under left translation. The problem of finding which Lie groups admit a left-invariant contact structure resolves to the question of determining when a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ is contact; that is, admits a one-form $\varphi\in\mathfrak{g}^*$ such that $\varphi\wedge(d\varphi)^k\neq 0.$ In full generality, this remains an open question; however we settle it for the important category of the evocatively named seaweed algebras by showing that an index-one seaweed is contact precisely when it is quasi-reductive. Seaweeds were introduced by Dergachev and Kirillov who initiated the development of their index theory -- since completed by Joseph, Panyushev, Yakimova, and Coll, among others. Recall that a contact Lie algebra has index one -- but not characteristically so. Leveraging recent work of Panyushev, Baur, Moreau, Duflo, Khalgui, Torasso, Yakimova, and Ammari, who collectively classified quasi-reductive seaweeds, our equivalence yields a full classification of contact seaweeds. We remark that since type-A and type-C seaweeds are de facto quasi-reductive (by a result of Panyushev), in these types index one alone suffices to ensure the existence of a contact form.
