Abstract:In this article we further the study of noncommutative numerical motives. By exploring the change-of-coefficients mechanism, we start by improving some of our previous main results. Then, making use of the notion of Schur-finiteness, we prove that the category NNum(k)_F of noncommutative numerical motives is (neutral) super-Tannakian. As in the commutative world, NNum(k)_F is not Tannakian. In order to solve this problem we promote periodic cyclic homology to a well-defined symmetric monoidal functor HP on the category of noncommutative Chow motives. This allows us to introduce the correct noncommutative analogues C_NC and D_NC of Grothendieck's standard conjectures C and D. Assuming C_NC, we prove that NNum(k)_F can be made into a Tannakian category NNum'(k)_F by modifying its symmetry isomorphism constraints. By further assuming D_NC, we neutralize the Tannakian category NNum'(k)_F using HP. Via the (super-)Tannakian formalism, we then obtain well-defined noncommutative motivic (super-)Galois groups. Finally, making use of Deligne-Milne's theory of Tate triples, we construct explicit homomorphisms relating these new noncommutative motivic (super-)Galois groups with the classical ones.

In particular this gives a basis of honorary multiple zeta values (linear combinations of iterated integrals at roots of unity $\mu_{N}$ which are multiple zeta values). Abstract:We investigate geometric and combinatorial aspects of the mysterious relationship between the action of the motivic Galois group on the motivic fundamental group of the projective line punctured at zero, infinity, and N-th roots of unity, and the geometry of modular manifolds for the congruence subgroup Y(m;N) of GL(m,Z) fixing (0, ... , 0, 1) modulo N. To achieve this, we consider a canonical collection of elements in the image of the motivic Galois Lie algebra, spanning it over Q. These elements are the motivic correlators at N-th roots of unity. We assign to them chains in the complex computing cohomology of certain local systems on the space Y(m;N). Their geometric properties reflect, in a mysterious way, properties of motivic correlators. This construction allows to establish the relationship with high precision for m up to 4. The m=2, 3 cases were investigated by the author before in the Hodge and the Galois set-up.

Abstract:Motivated by Murre's work on universal regular homomorphisms on Chow groups in codimension $2,$ we generalize the algebraic equivalence relation and regular homomorphisms to the context of Voevodsky motives over a field. In the Nisnevich topology, we prove the existence of \emph{universal} regular homomorphisms for a certain class of motivic cohomology groups, recovering Murre's theorem and the existence of Picard and Albanese varieties as special cases. This class also includes interesting cases such as higher Chow groups and Milnor $K$-groups. The appendix by Kahn proves that, for étale motives, universal regular homomorphisms exist for all geometric motives and compares them with those in the Nisnevich topology when both exist.

Noncommutative Motives I: A Universal Characterization of the Motivic Stable Homotopy Theory of Schemes

Abstract:Let $\V$ be a symmetric monoidal model category and let $X$ be an object in $\V$. From this we can construct a new symmetric monoidal model category $Sp^{\Sigma}(\V,X)$ of symmetric spectra objects in $\V$ with respect to $X$, together with a left Quillen monoidal map $\V\to Sp^{\Sigma}(\V,X)$ sending $X$ to an invertible object. In this paper we use the recent developments in the subject of Higher Algebra to understand the nature of this construction. Every symmetric monoidal model category has an underlying symmetric monoidal $(\infty,1)$-category and the first notion should be understood as a mere "presentation" of the second. Our main result is the characterization of the underlying symmetric monoidal $\infty$-category of $Sp^{\Sigma}(\V,X)$, by means of a universal property inside the world of symmetric monoidal $(\infty,1)$-categories. In the process we also describe the link between the construction of ordinary spectra and the one of symmetric spectra. As a corollary, we obtain a precise universal characterization for the motivic stable homotopy theory of schemes with its symmetric monoidal structure. This characterization trivializes the problem of finding motivic monoidal realizations and opens the way to compare the motivic theory of schemes with other motivic theories. As an application we provide a new approach to the theory of noncommutative motives by constructing a stable motivic homotopy theory for the noncommutative spaces of Kontsevich. For that we introduce an analogue for the Nisnevich topology in the noncommutative setting. Our universal property for the classical theory for schemes provides a canonical monoidal map towards these new noncommutative motives and allows us to compare the two theories.

Abstract:We give necessary conditions for a category fibred in pseudo-abelian additive categories over the classifying topos of a profinite group to be a stack; these conditions are sufficient when the coefficients are $\mathbf{Q}$-linear. This applies to pure motives over a field in the sense of Grothendieck, Deligne-Milne and André, to mixed motives in the sense of Nori and to several motivic categories considered in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1506.08386" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1506.08386">arXiv:1506.08386</a> [math.AG]. We also give a simple proof of the exactness of a sequence of motivic Galois groups under a Galois extension of the base field, which applies to all the above (Tannakian) situations. Finally, we clarify the construction of the categories of Chow-Lefschetz motives given in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2302.08327" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2302.08327">arXiv:2302.08327</a> [math.AG] and simplify the computation of their motivic Galois group in the numerical case.

Motivic realization of rigid G-local systems on curves and tamely ramified geometric Langlands

Abstract:For a reductive group $G$, we prove that complex irreducible rigid $G$-local systems with quasi-unipotent monodromies and finite order abelianization on a smooth curve are motivic, generalizing a theorem of Katz for $GL_n$. We do so by showing that the Hecke eigensheaf corresponding to such a local system is itself motivic. Unlike other works in the subject, we work entirely over the complex numbers. In the setting of de Rham geometric Langlands, we prove the existence of Hecke eigensheaves associated to any irreducible $G$-local system with regular singularities. We also provide a spectral decomposition of a naturally defined automorphic category over the stack of regular singular local systems with prescribed eigenvalues of the local monodromies at infinity. Finally, we establish a relationship between rigidity for complex local systems and automorphic rigidity, answering a conjecture of Yun in the tame complex setting.

Abstract:We study the Gauss and Jacobi sums from a viewpoint of motives. We exhibit isomorphisms between Chow motives arising from the Artin-Schreier curve and the Fermat varieties over a finite field, that can be regarded as (and yield a new proof of) classically known relations among Gauss and Jacobi sums such as Davenport-Hasse's multiplication formula. As a key step, we define motivic analogues of the Gauss and Jacobi sums as algebraic correspondences, and show that they represent the Frobenius endomorphisms of such motives. This generalizes Coleman's result for curves. These results are applied to investigate the group of invertible Chow motives with coefficients in a cyclotomic field.

Abstract:The main goal of this paper is to study relative versions of the category of modules over the isotropic motivic Brown-Peterson spectrum, with a particular emphasis on their cellular subcategories. Using techniques developed by Levine, we equip these categories with motivic $t$-structures, whose hearts are Tannakian categories over ${\mathbb F}_2$. This allows to define isotropic motivic fundamental groups, and to interpret relative isotropic Tate motives in the heart as their representations. Moreover, we compute these groups in the cases of the punctured projective line and split tori. Finally, we also apply Spitzweck's derived approach to establish an identification between relative isotropic Tate motives and representations of certain affine derived group schemes, whose 0-truncations coincide with the aforementioned isotropic motivic fundamental groups.

Abstract:In this thesis, following F. Brownu0027s point of view, we look at the Hopf algebra structure of motivic cyclotomic multiple zeta values, which are motivic periods of the fundamental groupoid of $mathbb{P}^{1} diagdown lbrace 0, mu_{N}, infty rbrace $. By application of a surjective textit{period} map (which, under Grothendiecku0027s period conjecture, is an isomorphism), we deduce results (such as generating families, identities, etc.) on cyclotomic multiple zeta values, which are complex numbers. The coaction of this Hopf algebra (explicitly given by a combinatorial formula from A. Goncharov and F. Brownu0027s works) is the dual of the action of a so-called textit{motivic} Galois group on these specific motivic periods. This entire study was actually motivated by the hope of a Galois theory for periods, which should extend the usual Galois theory for algebraic numbers.

Abstract:In this article we formalize and enhance Kontsevich's beautiful insight that Chow motives can be embedded into non-commutative ones after factoring out by the action of the Tate object. We illustrate the potential of this result by developing three of its manyfold applications: (1) the notions of Schur and Kimura finiteness admit an adequate extension to the realm of non-commutative motives; (2) Gillet-Soule's motivic measure admits an extension to the Grothendieck ring of non-commutative motives; (3) certain motivic zeta functions admit an intrinsic construction inside the category of non-commutative motives.

Abstract:In this thesis we give two applications of Ayoub's motivic nearby cycles functor: First we give a generalization of Grothendieck's classical local monodromy theorem. In the classical setup we show that the inertia group acts quasi-unipotently on the étale cohomology of sheaves 'coming from motives'. Second we study the notion of universal local acyclicity for motives and show that for étale motives universal local acyclicity over an excellent 1- dimensional regular base scheme is detected by the motivic nearby cycles functor. Along the way we prove properties of the motivic nearby cycles functor which might be of independent interest. In particular we show that with rational coefficients the unipotent motivic nearby cycles functor is a direct summand of the total motivic nearby cycles functor.
