That is, the adjoint operator of A A automatically exists and is just the transpose matrix A ′ A’ of A A . From the theorem we obtain a class of infinite matrix topological algebras ( λ , μ ) (\lambda ,\mu ) , and prove also a λ \lambda -multiplier convergence theorem of Orlicz-Pettis type. The theorem improves substantially the famous Stiles’ Orlicz-Pettis theorem.

Abstract:The weak tightness $wt(X)$ of a space $X$ was introduced in [11] with the property $wt(X)\leq t(X)$. We investigate several well-known results concerning $t(X)$ and consider whether they extend to the weak tightness setting. First we give an example of a non-sequential compactum $X$ such that $wt(X)=\aleph_0<t(X)$ under $2^{\aleph_0}=2^{\aleph_1}$. In particular, this demonstrates the celebrated Balogh's Theorem [5] does not hold in general if countably tight is replaced with weakly countably tight. Second, we introduce the notion of an S-free sequence and show that if $X$ is a homogeneous compactum then $|X|\leq 2^{wt(X)\pi_\chi(X)}$. This refines a theorem of De la Vega [12]. In the case where the cardinal invariants involved are countable, this also represents a variation of a theorem of Juhász and van Mill [15]. Third, we show that if $X$ is a $T_1$ space, $wt(X)\leq\kappa$, $X$ is $\kappa^+$-compact, and $\psi(\overline{D},X)\leq 2^\kappa$ for any $D\subseteq X$ satisfying $|D|\leq 2^\kappa$, then a) $d(X)\leq 2^\kappa$ and b) $X$ has at most $2^\kappa$-many $G_\kappa$-points. This is a variation of another theorem of Balogh [6]. Finally, we show that if $X$ is a regular space, $\kappa=L(X)wt(X)$, and $\lambda$ is a caliber of $X$ satisfying $\kappa<\lambda\leq \left(2^{\kappa}\right)^+$, then $d(X)\leq 2^{\kappa}$. This extends of theorem of Arhangel'skii [3].

Abstract:We consider the weak to strong type problem for two weight norm inequalities for Calderón-Zygmund operators with doubling weights. We show that if a Calderón-Zygmund operator T is weak type (2,2) with doubling weights, then it is strong type (2,2) if and only if the dual cube testing condition for T^{*} holds, alternatively if and only if the dual cancellation condition of Stein holds. The testing condition can be taken with respect to either cubes or balls, and more generally, this is extended to a weak form of Tb theorem. Finally, we show that for all pairs of locally finite positive Borel measures, and all Stein elliptic Calderón-Zygmund operators T, the weak type (2,2) inequalities for T and and its associated maximal truncations operator T_{*} are equivalent. Thus the characterization of weak type for T_{*} in [LaSaUr1] applies to T as well.

Abstract:Suppose that (Φ, M^n) is a smooth ( Z_2)^k-action on a closed smooth n-dimensional manifold such that all Stiefel-Whitney classes of the tangent bundle to each connected component of the fixed point set F vanish in positive dimension. This paper shows that if M^n>2^k F and each p-dimensional part F^p possesses the linear independence property, then (Φ, M^n) bounds equivariantly, and in particular, 2^k F is the best possible upper bound of M^n if (Φ, M^n) is nonbounding.

Abstract:The celebrated Cauchy identity expresses the product of terms $(1 - x_i y_j)^{-1}$ for $(i,j)$ indexing entries of a rectangular $m\times n$-matrix as a sum over partitions $\lambda$ of products of Schur polynomials: $s_{\lambda}(x)s_{\lambda}(y)$. Algebraically, this identity comes from the decomposition of the symmetric algebra of the space of rectangular matrices, considered as a $\mathfrak{gl}_m$-$\mathfrak{gl}_n$-bi-module. We generalize the Cauchy decomposition by replacing rectangular matrices with arbitrary staircase-shaped matrices equipped with the left and right actions of the Borel upper-triangular subalgebras. For any given staircase shape $\mathsf{Y}$ we describe left and right "standard" filtrations on the symmetric algebra of the space of shape $\mathsf{Y}$ matrices. We show that the subquotients of these filtrations are tensor products of Demazure and van der Kallen modules over the Borel subalgebras. On the level of characters, we derive three distinct expansions for the product $(1 - x_i y_j)^{-1}$ for $(i,j) \in \mathsf{Y}$. The first two expansions are sums of products of key polynomials $\kappa_\lambda(x)$ and Demazure atoms $a_{\mu}(y)$. The third expansion is an alternating sum of products of key polynomials $\kappa_{\lambda}(x)\,\kappa_{\mu}(y)$.

Limit theorems for low dimensional generalized $(T,T^{-1})$ transformations

Abstract:We consider generalized $(T, T^{-1})$ transformations such that the base map satisfies a multiple mixing local limit theorem and anticoncentration large deviation bounds and in the fiber we have $\mathbb{R}^d$ actions with $d=1$ or $2$ which are exponentially mixing of all orders. If the skewing cocycle has zero drift, we show that the ergodic sums satisfy the same limit theorems as the random walks in random scenery studied by Kesten and Spitzer (1979) and Bolthausen (1989). The proofs rely on the quenched CLT for the fiber action and the control of the quenched variance. This paper complements our previous work where the classical central limit theorem is obtained for a large class of generalized $(T, T^{-1})$ transformations.

Abstract:In this note, we provide an elementary proof for the expression of $f(U)-f(V)$ in the form of a double operator integral for every Lipschitz function $f$ on the unit circle $\cir$ and for a pair of unitary operators $(U,V)$ with $U-V\in\mathcal{S}_{2}(\hilh)$ (the Hilbert-Schmidt class). As a consequence, we obtain the Schatten $2$-Lipschitz estimate $\|f(U)-f(V)\|_2\leq \|f\|_{\lip(\cir)}\|U-V\|_2$ for all Lipschitz functions $f:\cir\to\C$. Moreover, we develop an approach to the operator Lipschitz estimate for a pair of contractions with the assumption that one of them is a strict contraction, which significantly extends the class of functions from results known earlier. More specifically, for each $p\in(1,\infty)$ and for every pair of contractions $(T_0,T_1)$ with $\|T_0\|<1$, there exists a constant $d_{f, p,T_0}>0$ such that $\|f(T_1)-f(T_0)\|_p\leq d_{f,p, T_0}\|T_1-T_0\|_p$ for all Lipschitz functions on $\cir$. Using our Lipschitz estimates, we establish a modified Krein trace formula applicable to a specific category of pairs of contractions featuring Hilbert-Schmidt perturbations.

Abstract:For a compact set $K\subset \mathbb C,$ a finite positive Borel measure $\mu$ on $K,$ and $1 \le t < ı,$ let $\text{Rat}(K)$ be the set of rational functions with poles off $K$ and let $R^t(K, \mu)$ be the closure of $\text{Rat}(K)$ in $L^t(\mu).$ For a bounded Borel subset $\mathcal D\subset \mathbb C,$ let $\area_{\mathcal D}$ denote the area (Lebesgue) measure restricted to $\mathcal D$ and let $H^ı(\mathcal D)$ be the weak-star closed sub-algebra of $L^ı(\area_{\mathcal D})$ spanned by $f,$ bounded and analytic on $\mathbb C\setminus E_f$ for some compact subset $E_f \subset \mathbb C\setminus \mathcal D.$ We show that if $R^t(K, \mu)$ contains no non-trivial direct $L^t$ summands, then there exists a Borel subset $\mathcal R \subset K$ whose closure contains the support of $\mu$ and there exists an isometric isomorphism and a weak-star homeomorphism $\rho$ from $R^t(K, \mu) \cap L^\infty(\mu)$ onto $H^\infty(\mathcal R)$ such that $\rho(r) = r$ for all $r\in\text{Rat}(K).$ Consequently, we obtain some structural decomposition theorems for $\rtkmu$.

Abstract:We present a new argument in the study of positive entropy measures for higher rank diagonalisable actions. The argument relies on a quantitative form of recurrence along unipotent directions (that are not known to preserve the measure). Using this argument we prove a classification of positive entropy measures for any higher rank action on an irreducible arithmetic quotient of a form of $SL_2$. We also provide an Adelic version of this classification result where no entropy assumption is needed. These results can also be used to prove new results regarding Diophantine approximations of integer multiples of an arbitrary element $\alpha\in\mathbb{R}$.

Abstract:We define a new rearrangement, called rearrangement by tamping, for non-negative measurable functions defined on R+. This rearrangement has many properties in common with the well-known Schwarz non-increasing rearrangement such as the P{ó}lya-Szeg{ö} inequality. Contrary to the Schwarz rearrangement, the tamping also preserves the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition of a function.

Abstract:We introduce Artin-Wraith glueing and locally closed inclusions in double categories. Examples include locales, toposes, topological spaces, categories, and posets. With appropriate assumptions, we show that locally closed inclusions are exponentiable, and the exponentials are constructed via Artin-Wraith glueing. Thus, we obtain a single theorem establishing the exponentiability of locally closed inclusions in these five cases.

Abstract:The Tautological Lamination arises in holomorphic dynamics as a combinatorial model for the geometry of 1-dimensional slices of the Shift Locus. In each degree $q$ the tautological lamination defines an iterated sequence of partitions of $1$ (one for each integer $n$) into numbers of the form $2^m q^{-n}$. Denote by $N_q(n,m)$ the number of times $2^mq^{-n}$ arises in the $n$th partition. We prove a recursion formula for $N_q(n,0)$, and a gap theorem: $N_q(n,n)=1$ and $N_q(n,m)=0$ for $\lfloor n/2 \rfloor < m < n$.

Abstract:Let $(a,a+d,a+2d)$ be an arithmetic progression of positive integers. The following statements are proved: (1) If $a\mid 2d$, then $(a, a+d, a+2d)\in\mdeg(\Tame(\mathbb{C}^3))$. (2) If $a\nmid 2d$, then, except for arithmetic progressions of the form $(4i,4i+ij,4i+2ij)$ with $i,j \in\mathbb{N}$ and $j$ is an odd number, $(a, a+d, a+2d)\notin\mdeg(\Tame(\mathbb{C}^3))$. We also related the exceptional unknown case to a conjecture of Jie-tai Yu, which concerns with the lower bound of the degree of the Poisson bracket of two polynomials.

Abstract:In this paper, closure operators obtained from functions having some properties on bounded lattices are defined. By this way, it is aimed to generalize the notions T and U -closure operators obtained from t-norms and uninorms, respectively. The relationships between the closure operators obtained from functions and their conjugacies (dual functions) are determined. In special cases, the closure operators from implications making closure operators from R-, (S,N)-, QL- implications are determined. Also, the closures of the sets according to the closure operators from implications are studied. The orders obtained from closure operators are introduced, and the properties are discussed.

Existence results for Toda systems with sign-changing prescribed functions: Part II

Abstract:Let $(M, g)$ be a compact Riemann surface with area $1$. We investigate the Toda system \begin{align} \begin{cases} -\Delta u_1 = 2\rho_1(h_1e^{u_1}-1) - \rho_2(h_2e^{u_2}-1),\\ -\Delta u_2 = 2\rho_2(h_2e^{u_2}-1) - \rho_1(h_1e^{u_1}-1), \end{cases} \end{align} on $(M, g)$ where $\rho_1, \rho_2 \in (0,4\pi]$, and $h_1$ and $h_2$ are two smooth functions on $M$.When some $\rho_i$ equals $4\pi$, the Toda system becomes critical with respect to the Moser-Trudinger inequality for it, making the existence problem significantly more challenging. In their seminal article (Comm. Pure Appl. Math., 59 (2006), no. 4, 526--558), Jost, Lin, and Wang established sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions the Toda system when $\rho_1=4\pi$, $\rho_2 \in (0,4\pi)$ or $\rho_1=\rho_2=4\pi$, assuming that $h_1$ and $h_2$ are both positive. In our previous paper we extended these results to allow $h_1$ and $h_2$ to change signs in the case $\rho_1=4\pi$, $\rho_2 \in (0,4\pi)$. In this paper we further extend the study to prove that Jost-Lin-Wang's sufficient conditions remain valid even when $h_1$ and $h_2$ can change signs and $\rho_1=\rho_2=4\pi$. Our proof relies on an improved version of the Moser-Trudinger inequality for the Toda system, along with edicated analyses similar to Brezis-Merle type and the use of Pohozaev identities.

Abstract:Let $T$ be a Fourier integral operator of order $-(n-1)/2$ associated with a canonical relation locally parametrised by a real-phase function. A fundamental result due to Seeger, Sogge, and Stein proved in the 90's, gives the boundedness of $T$ from the Hardy space $H^1$ into $L^1.$ Additionally, it was shown by T. Tao the weak (1,1) type of $T$. In this work, we establish the weak (1,1) boundedness of a Fourier integral operator $T$ of order $-(n-1)/2$ when it has associated a canonical relation parametrised by a complex phase function.
