Abstract:The article is devoted to the expansion of iterated Stratonovich stochastic integrals of second multiplicity into the double series of products of standard Gaussian random variables. The proof of expansion is based on the application of double Fourier-Legendre series and double trigonometric Fourier series summarized by Pringsheim method. The results of the article are generalized to the case of an arbitrary complete orthonormal system of functions in the space $L_2([t, T])$ and $\psi_1(\tau), \psi_2(\tau)\in L_2([t, T]).$ The considered expansion can be applied to the numerical integration of Ito stochastic differential equations. Some recent results on the expansion of iterated Stratonovich stochastic integrals of multiplicities 3 to 6 are given.

Abstract:The article is devoted to the construction of expansions of iterated Stratonovich stochastic integrals of fifth and sixth multiplicities based on the method of generalized multiple Fourier series converging in the sense of norm in the Hilbert space $L_2([t, T]^k),$ $k\in\mathbb{N}.$ Specifically, we mainly use multiple Fourier-Legendre series and multiple trigonometric Fourier series. Recently, expansions of iterated Stratonovich stochastic integrals of multiplicity $k,$ $k\in\mathbb{N}$ (the case of continuous weight functions and an arbitrary complete orthonormal system of functions in $L_2([t, T])$) have been obtained but under one additional assumption (see Theorem 42). The considered expansions converge in the mean-square sense and contain only one operation of the limit transition in contrast to its existing analogues. Expansions of iterated Stratonovich stochastic integrals turned out much simpler than appropriate expansions of iterated Ito stochastic integrals. We use expansions of the latter as a tool of the proof of expansions for iterated Stratonovich stochastic integrals. Iterated Stratonovich stochastic integrals are the part of the Taylor-Stratonovich expansion for solutions of Ito stochastic differential equations. That is why the results of the article can be applied to the numerical integrations of Ito stochastic differential equations.

Abstract:In this work, we define the notions of Wronskian and simplified Wronskian for Stieltjes derivatives and study some of their properties in a similar manner to the context of time scales or the usual derivative. Later, we use these tools to investigate second-order linear differential equations with Stieltjes derivatives to find linearly independent solutions, as well as to derive the variation of parameters method for problems with g -continuous coefficients. This theory is later illustrated with some examples such as the study of the one-dimensional linear Helmholtz equation with piecewise-constant coefficients.

Abstract:We consider mapping properties of the iterated Stieltjes transform, establishing its new relations with the iterated Hilbert transform (a singular integral) on the half-axis and proving the corresponding convolution and Titchmarsh's type theorems. Moreover, the obtained convolution method is applied to solve a new class of singular integral equations.

Abstract:In 1976, Donald Cartwright and John McMullen characterized axiomatically the Riemann-Liouvile fractional integral in a paper that was published in 1978. The motivation for their work was to answer affirmatively to a conjecture stated by J. S. Lew a few years before, in 1972. Essentially, their ``Cartwright-McMullen theorem in fractional calculus'' proved that the Riemann-Liouville fractional integral is the only continuous extension of the usual integral operator to positive real orders, in such a way that the Index Law holds. In this paper, we propose an analogous result for the uniqueness of the extension of the Stieltjes integral operator, in the case of a smooth integrator.

Abstract:We develop series representations for the Hurwitz and Riemann zeta functions in terms of generalized Bernoulli numbers (Nörlund polynomials), that give the analytic continuation of these functions to the entire complex plane. Special cases yield series representations of a wide variety of special functions and numbers, including log Gamma, the digamma, and polygamma functions. A further byproduct is that $\zeta(n)$ values emerge as nonlinear Euler sums in terms of generalized harmonic numbers. We additionally obtain series and integral representations of the first Stieltjes constant $\gamma_1(a)$. The presentation unifies some earlier results.

Abstract:We define integrals for functions on finite-dimensional algebras, adapting methods from Leinster's research. This paper discusses the relationships between the integrals of functions defined on subsets $\mathbb{I}_1 \subseteq {\mathit{\Lambda}}_1$ and $\mathbb{I}_2 \subseteq {\mathit{\Lambda}}_2$ of two finite-dimensional algebras, under the influence of a mapping $\omega$, which can be an injection or a bijection. We explore four specific cases: $\bullet$ $\omega$ as a monotone non-decreasing and right-continuous function; $\bullet$ $\omega$ as an injective, absolutely continuous function; $\bullet$ $\omega$ as a bijection; $\bullet$ and $\omega$ as the identity on $\mathbb{R}$. These scenarios correspond to the frameworks of Lebesgue-Stieltjes integration, Riemann-Stieltjes integration, substitution rules for Lebesgue integrals, and traditional Lebesgue or Riemann integration, respectively.

Abstract:The article is devoted to the expansion of iterated Stratonovich stochastic integrals of arbitrary multiplicity $k$ $(k\in\mathbb{N})$ based on the generalized iterated Fourier series converging pointwise. The case of Fourier-Legendre series as well as the case of trigonometric Fourier series are considered in details. The obtained expansion provides a possibility to represent the iterated Stratonovich stochastic integral in the form of iterated series of products of standard Gaussian random variables. Convergence in the mean of degree $2n$ $(n\in \mathbb{N})$ of the expansion is proved. Some recent results on the expansion of iterated Stratonovich stochastic integrals of multiplicities 3 to 6 are given. The results of the article can be applied to the numerical solution of Ito stochastic differential equations.

Abstract:This work is devoted to the obtaining of a new numerical scheme based in quadrature formulas for the Lebesgue-Stieltjes integral for the approximation of Stieltjes ordinary differential equations. This novel method allows us to numerically approximate models based in Stieltjes ordinary differential equations for which no explicit solution is known. We prove several theoretical results related to the consistency, convergence and stability of the numerical method. We also obtain the explicit solution of the Stieltjes linear ordinary differential equation, and we use it to validate the numerical method. Finally, we present some numerical results that we have obtained for a realistic population model based in a Stieltjes differential equation.

Abstract:The approximative theorems of incomplete Riemann-Stieltjes sums of Ito stochastic integral, mean square integral and Stratonovich stochastic integral with respect to Brownian motion are investigated. Some sufficient conditions of incomplete Riemann-Stieltjes sums approaching stochastic integral are developed, which establish the alternative ways to converge stochastic integral. And, Two simulation examples of incomplete Riemann-Stieltjes sums about Ito stochastic integral and Stratonovich stochastic integral are given for demonstration.
