Abstract:The study of the various collective flows of nuclear matter is one of the main subjects in heavy ion physics. The interest in collective nuclear motion under extreme conditions, like high density and/or high temperature originates from the equation of state (EOS) of nuclear matter. Abstract:We study the role of impact parameter on the collective flow and its disappearance for different mass asymmetric reactions. The mass asymmetry is varied from 0 to 0.7 keeping the total mass of the system fixed. Our results clearly indicate a significant role of impact parameter on the collective flow and its disappearance for the mass asymmetric reactions. The impact parameter dependence is also found to vary with mass asymmetry of the reaction.

Abstract:Collective flow is a powerful tool used to analyze the properties of a medium created during high-energy nuclear collisions. Here, we report a systematic study of the first two Fourier coefficients $$v_1$$ and $$v_2$$ of the proton and $$\pi ^{+}$$ from Au+Au collisions in the energy range $$\sqrt{s_{{\text{NN}}}}$$ = 2.11–4.9 GeV within the framework of a hadronic transport model (UrQMD). Recent results from the STAR experiment were used to test the model calculations. A mean-field mode with strong repulsive interaction is needed to reproduce the 10–40% data at 3 GeV. This implies that hadronic interactions play an important role in the collective flow development in the high baryon density region. The mean values of the freeze-out time for protons and $$\pi ^{+}$$ are shifted earlier owing to the additional repulsive interactions. We predict the energy dependence of the mean values of the transverse momentum $$\langle p_{\text{T}} \rangle$$ , $$v_1$$ , and $$v_2$$ for both protons and $$\pi ^{+}$$ from the Au+Au collisions.

Abstract:The transverse flow in heavy ion collisions can be characterized by the azimuthal anisotropy of the final state particles. A clear signature of the azimuthal correlation between directed and elliptic flow is evidenced in the model calculations. It is found that the azimuthal correlation is sensitive to the type of elliptic flow. The collective transverse expansion in coordinate space affects the azimuthal distributions of the final state particles in momentum space and the space-momentum correlation would develop. The study indicates that the behaviour of elliptic flow in different events depends on the evaluation of event-by-event dynamical fluctuations.

Abstract:Within the framework of an isospin-dependent Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck model using initial proton and neutron densities calculated from the nonlinear relativistic mean-field theory, we compare the strength of transverse collective flow in reactions Ca-48 + Fe-58 and Cr-48 + Ni-58, which have the same mass number but different neutron/proton ratios. The neutron-rich system (Ca-48 + Fe-58) is found to show significantly stronger negative deflection and consequently has a higher balance energy, especially in peripheral collisions.

Abstract:The rapidity-odd component of directed flow (v(1)) of identified hadrons (pi(+/-), K-+/-, K-S(0), p, (p) over bar, phi, Xi, ( Xi) over bar, Lambda, (Lambda) over bar) and partons (u, (u) over bar, d, (d) over bar, s, (s) over bar) in Au+Au collisions at various beam energies (root S-NN = 7.7, 11.5, 14.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 54.4, 62.4, 200 GeV) is analyzed using a multiphase transport model. A data driven approach (inspired from the experimental analysis) is performed here to distinguish the transported and produced quarks which are found to have different directed flow values at various collision beam energies. The coalescence sum rule (number of constituent quark scaling) violation is observed at lower energies where hadronic matters dominate. The strange quark (s) and phi meson slope (dv(1)/dy) show a double sign change around 14.5 GeV unlike other partons and hadrons. It suggests that the strange quark is more sensitive to the softening of the equation of state.

Abstract:Gubser flow provides an analytic model for describing the spacetime dynamics of the quark-gluon plasma produced in heavy-ion collisions. Along with boost and rotation invariance along the beam axis, the model assumes invariance under a combination of translations and special conformal transformations in the transverse plane, leading to a flow profile which evolves not just along the beam axis, but also radially. We argue that Gubser flow and its associated symmetry assumptions arise naturally as a consequence of Carrollian symmetries for a conformal Carroll fluid, thereby providing a dual geometric picture for the flow. Given the inherent ultrarelativistic nature of the flow, this duality with Carroll hydrodynamics which arises in the c→0 limit of relativistic hydrodynamics, is natural. Abstract:We present a scenario in heavy-ion collisions where different modes of collective motions are noninterdependent, driven by factorized actions in the created nuclear medium. Such physics mechanisms could each dominate at a distinct evolution stage, or coexist simultaneously. If the probability of particle emission is modulated by each nondependent collective motion with a single-harmonic Fourier expansion, the particle azimuthal distribution should be the product of all these expansions. Consequently, nonleading cross terms between collectivity modes appear, and their contributions to experimental observables could be significant. In particular, we argue that the chiral magnetic effect (CME) and elliptic flow can develop separately, with their convolution affecting the observable that is sensitive to the shear-induced CME. We will use the event-by-event anomalous-viscous fluid dynamics model to illustrate the effects of this scenario. Besides giving insights into searches for the CME, we also propose feasible experimental tests based on conventional flow harmonics, and demonstrate the emergence of nonleading cross terms with a multiphase transport model. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevC.107.L061902 ©2023 American Physical Society

Abstract:High-energy nuclear collisions exhibit collective flow, which emerges as a dynamical response of the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) to the initial state geometry of the collision. Collective flow in heavy-ion collisions is usually described within multi-stage evolution models, which employ a viscous relativistic hydrodynamic description of the space-time evolution of the QGP. By comparing event-by-event simulations in kinetic theory and viscous hydrodynamics in OO, AuAu and PbPb collisions at RHIC and LHC energies, we quantify to what extent a macroscopic hydrodynamic description can accurately describe the development of collective flow and to what extent collective flow in small systems, such as OO, is sensitive to the non-equilibrium evolution of the QGP beyond hydrodynamics.

Abstract:Quenching of gluonic jets and heavy quark production in Au+Au collisions at RHIC can be understood within the pQCD based 3+1 dimensional parton transport model BAMPS including pQCD bremsstrahlung $2 \leftrightarrow 3$ processes. Collective flows of clusters and pions in heavy-ion collisions at GeV energies

Abstract:Within the framework of the quantum molecular dynamics transport model, the collective flows of clusters and pions in heavy-ion collisions have been systematically investigated. The clusters are recognized by the Wigner phase-space density approach at the stage of freeze out in nuclear collisions, i.e., deuteron, triton, $^{3}$He and $\alpha$. The directed and elliptic flows of protons and deuterons in the reaction of $^{197}$Au+$^{197}$Au at incident energy 1.23\emph{A} GeV are nicely consistent with the recent HADES data. The higher order collective flows, i.e., triangular and quadrangle flows, manifest the opposite trends with the less amplitude in comparison with the rapidity distributions of directed and elliptic flows. The flow structure of $^{3}$He and $\alpha$ is very similar to the proton spectra. The influence of the pion potential on the pion production is systematically investigated and compared with the FOPI data via the transverse momentum, longitudinal rapidity and collective flows in collisions of $^{197}$Au + $^{197}$Au. It is manifested that the pion yields are slightly suppressed in the domain of mid-rapidity and high momentum. The antiflow phenomena is reduced by implementing the pion potential and more consistent with the FOPI data in collisions of $^{197}$Au+$^{197}$Au at the incident energy 1.5\emph{A} GeV.

Azimuthal distribution of exponential format for particle collective motions in heavy-ion collisions under asynchronous assumption

Abstract:Particle azimuth distributions are widely studied in heavy-ion collisions. They are often expanded in Fourier series to extract anisotropic flow harmonics simultaneously. It was recently proposed that the different orders of flows could happen asynchronously or noninterdependently. This study extends this idea to an exponential format of the azimuth distribution, which makes it straightforward to extract the asynchronous flow coefficients. We compare these new coefficients to the conventional ones, and find consistency in the leading coefficient and discrepancy in higher-order ones.

Abstract:The Skyrme potential energy density functional is introduced into the ultrarelativistic quantum molecular dynamics model and the updated version is applied to studying the directed and elliptic flows of light particles (protons, neutrons, deuterons, tritons, He-3, and He-4) in Au-197 + Au-197 collisions at beam energies 150, 250, and 400 MeV/ nucleon. The results are compared with the recent FOPI experimental data. It is found that the yields and collective flows of light particles can be described quite well. The influence of the equation of state, medium-modified nucleon-nucleon elastic cross sections (NNECS) and cluster recognition criteria on the directed and elliptic flows is studied in detail. It is found that the flows of light particles are sensitive to the medium-modified NNECS, but not sensitive to the isospin dependent cluster recognition criteria. It seems difficult, however, even with the new data and calculations, to obtain a more accurate constraint on the nuclear incompressibility K-0 than the interval 200-260 MeV.

Abstract:We study multi-particle azimuthal correlations in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV. We use initial conditions obtained from a Monte-Carlo Glauber model and evolve them within a viscous relativistic hydrodynamics framework that eventually gives way to a transport model in the late hadronic stage of the evolution. We compute the multi-particle symmetric and asymmetric cumulants and present the results for their sensitivity to the shear and bulk viscosities during the hydrodynamic evolution. We also check their sensitivity to resonance decay and hadronic interactions. We show that these observables are more sensitive to the transport properties than the traditional flow observables.

Abstract:The anisotropic flow of charged hadrons in asymmetric $\text{Cu}+\text{Au}$ collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider is studied in a multiphase transport model. Compared with previous results for symmetric $\text{Au}+\text{Au}$ collisions, charged hadrons produced around midrapidity in asymmetric collisions are found to have a stronger directed flow ${v}_{1}$ and their elliptic flow ${v}_{2}$ is also more sensitive to the parton scattering cross section. Although higher order flows ${v}_{3}$ and ${v}_{4}$ are small at all rapidities, both ${v}_{1}$ and ${v}_{2}$ in these collisions are appreciable and show an asymmetry in forward and backward rapidities.
