Abstract:This paper summarizes basic properties of PPTs and shows that each PPT belongs to one of six different classes. Mapping an ordered sequence of PPTs into a corresponding sequence of these six classes makes it possible to use them in cryptography. We pose problems whose solution would facilitate such cryptographic application.

Abstract:The invention of public-key cryptography (PKC) by Diffie and Hellman in 1976 is one of two milestones marking the beginning of modern cryptography. The security of a PKC system requires that it should be infeasible to compute the private key from a given public key, which in turn is typically guaranteed by the difficulty in solving some cryptographic-friendly mathematical problems. Among those problems, the integer factorization and discrete logarithm problems play pivotal roles in the development of public-key cryptography. In particular, the assumption that there is no polynomial time (classical) algorithm that solves the above two problems constitutes the basis for the security of almost all currently used public-key cryptosystems, such as RSA and ElGamal. However, Shor [1] found an efficient quantum solving algorithm for the integer factorization and discrete logarithm problems in 1994, which would destroy the security basis for most real deployed PKC systems if large-scale quantum computers become available. The rapid development of quantum technology in recent years suggests that we are getting closer to the quantum crisis of current PKC systems.

Abstract:Pythagorean triples are the positive integer solutions to the Pythagoras equation for right triangles, a2+b2 = c2. They have been studied for many years, many centuries in fact. In this short paper we present a method for computing Pythagorean triples in general, the first two cases of which go back at least to the early Pythagoreans (570-495 BCE), and to Plato (429-347 BCE). But the method has not been investigated as extensively as presented here. Several other approaches are also considered.

Abstract:It is well-known that pythagorean triples can be represented by points of the unit circle with rational coordinates. These points form an abelian group, and we describe its structure. This structural description yields, almost immediately, an enumeration of the normalized pythagorean triples with a given hypotenuse, and also to an effective method for producing all such triples. This effective method seems to be new. This paper is intended for the general mathematical audience, including undergraduate mathematics students, and therefore it contains plenty of background material, some history and several examples and exercises.

Abstract:Dr. Ron Knott constructed a graph of all Primitive Pythagorean Triples (PPTs) with legs up to length 10,000, using Mathematica. The patterns are very interesting, suggesting conic sections. We show that they indeed are parabolic curves which follow in a natural way from the mathematics of the subject matter.

Abstract:In this short note, we prove several new congruences for the overcubic partition triples function, using both elementary techniques and the theory of modular forms. These extend the recent list of such congruences given by Nayaka, Dharmendra, and Kumar (2024). We also generalize overcubic partition triples to overcubic partition $k$-tuples and prove a few arithmetic properties for these type of partitions.

Abstract:Owing to the rapid development of cloud services and personal privacy requirements, content-based encrypted image retrieval in the cloud has been increasing. Outsourced images are encrypted into noiselike ones to protect privacy, however, the obtained unrecognized appearance limits their availability. Besides, users have to decrypt all search results to browse, while some of them may not be needed, which undoubtedly wastes bandwidth and computing resources. To cope with this problem, a compromise strategy is proposed that considers the tradeoff between privacy and usability of cipher images. Wherein, a thumbnail preserving encryption (TPE) based on genetic algorithm is proposed. The pixels in the sub-blocks of the plain image are scrambled and diffused at the bit-level through crossover and mutation operators of the genetic algorithm. Moreover, two new operators of Mutation Compensation and Mutation Failure are defined and incorporated into the traditional genetic algorithm to achieve an ideal TPE, that cipher image has the same thumbnail as the original image. Additionally, a color histogram-based retrieval algorithm is introduced to retrieve cipher images using the color information preserved by thumbnails; and to improve retrieval accuracy by using the Bhattacharyya distance. A series of simulations verify the security and effectiveness of our scheme.

Abstract:A Pythagorean triple is a triple of positive integers $(x,y,z)$ such that $x^2+y^2=z^2$. If $x,y$ are coprime and $x$ is odd, then it is called a primitive Pythagorean triple. Berggren showed that every primitive Pythagorean triple can be generated from triple $(3,4,5)$ using multiplication by uniquely number and order of three $3\times3$ matrices, which yields a ternary tree of triplets. In this paper, we present some metric properties of triples in Berggren tree. Firstly, we consider primitive Pythagorean triple as lengths of sides of right triangles and secondly, we consider them as coordinates of points in three-dimensional space.

Abstract:We consider the number π(x, y; q, a) of primes p ⩽ x such that p ≡ a (mod q) and (p − a)/q is free of prime factors greater than y. Assuming a suitable form of Elliott-Halberstam conjecture, it is proved that π(x, y; q, a) is asymptotic to ρ(log(x/q)/log y)π(x)/φ(q) on average, subject to certain ranges of y and q, where ρ is the Dickman function. Moreover, unconditional upper bounds are also obtained via sieve methods. As a typical application, we may control more effectively the number of shifted primes with large prime factors.

Abstract:The study of pairings can be considered in so many di�erent ways that it may not be useless to state in a few words the plan which has been adopted, and the chief objects at which it has aimed. This is not an attempt to write the whole history of the pairings in cryptology, or to detail every discovery, but rather a general presentation motivated by the two main requirements in cryptology; e�ciency and security. Starting from the basic underlying mathematics, pairing maps are con- structed and a major security issue related to the question of the minimal embedding �eld [12]1 is resolved. This is followed by an exposition on how to compute e�ciently the �nal exponentiation occurring in the calculation of a pairing [124]2 and a thorough survey on the security of the discrete log- arithm problem from both theoretical and implementational perspectives. These two crucial cryptologic requirements being ful�lled an identity based encryption scheme taking advantage of pairings [24]3 is introduced. Then, perceiving the need to hash identities to points on a pairing-friendly elliptic curve in the more general context of identity based cryptography, a new technique to efficiently solve this practical issue is exhibited. Unveiling pairings in cryptology involves a good understanding of both mathematical and cryptologic principles. Therefore, although �rst pre- sented from an abstract mathematical viewpoint, pairings are then studied from a more practical perspective, slowly drifting away toward cryptologic applications.

Abstract:This paper proves an index theorem of Toeplitz tuples on pseudoregular domains in C n . Geometrically, the index of Toeplitz tuple T n is (-1) n time wrapping number of φ n around the origin. As one of the applications of the index theorem, we completely characterize the automorphism groups of Toeplitz algebras on Poincaré domain. As another application, it is shown that C *(Ω)≅ C *( Bn ) for every Poincare domain Ω in C n ( n ≠2). It is also noticed that C *(Ω)≅ C *( B 2 ) if and only if the Poincaré conjecture is true for ∂Ω.

Abstract:Abstract: This research paper surveys the landscape of cryptography, encompassing historical origins and modern applications. Beginning with foundational concepts, it explores encryption, decryption, ciphers, and keys, spanning symmetric and asymmetric cryptography. Historical context unfolds, tracing cryptography from ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs to Julius Caesar's cipher. The study then transitions to contemporary subjects. Elliptic Curves and Cryptography are investigated, showcasing their significance in secure communication, demonstrating ECC key exchange and AES-GCM encryption using python and Comparative analysis of ECC, RSA, and Diffie-Hellman sheds light on their performance. Zero-Knowledge Proofs are introduced as tools for privacy-preserving verification followed by an exploration of various Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) protocols. By presenting practical implementation examples using Python, the paper illustrates how these proofs can be applied in real-world scenarios. Random Number Generation is examined and distinction between pseudorandom number generators (PRNGs) and cryptographically secure PRNGs (CSPRNGs) is emphasized conducting a thorough comparative analysis of PRNGs and CSPRNGs, considering factors like correlation, independence, periodicity, and entropy. Furthermore, the section evaluates the performance of different random number generation techniques. Fully Homomorphic Encryption emerges as a groundbreaking concept, discussing its mathematical properties, practical implementation, parameter selection, and optimization techniques enabling computation on encrypted data. Cryptographic Secret Sharing Schemes are explored for secure information distribution. Abstract:After the introduction, in section 2 we state the well known parametric formulas that describe the entire family of Pythagorean triples. In section 3, we list four well known results from number theory, used later in the paper. in section 2, we prove two propositions. Proposition 1 says that the diophantine equation z^2=x^4+4y^4, has no solutions in positive integers x,y, and z. We then use Proposition 1, to prove the insolvability of a certain four-variable diophantine system, which is Proposition 2. In Section 5, we present some examplesof pairs of Pythagorean triangles with a common hypotenuse. In Section 6, we use Proposition 2 to prove Theorem 1: There exists no pair of Pythagorean triangles such that the leg of largest length in the first triangle is the hypotenuse of the second triangle; and in addition, with the leg of smallest length in the first triangle; having the same length as a leg in the second triangle. in Section 7, we present information on Pythagorean boxes, and we describe how to generate infinitely many Pythagorean boxes with a face diagonal of integral length. Finally, in Section 8, we apply Proposition 2 to prove Theorem 2: There exists no Pythagorean box with a pair of congruent (or opposite) faces being squares. And with the four diagonals of equal length in another pair of opposite faces, also having integral length.

Abstract:The heating of magnetized plasma by propagation of Alfven waves is calculated as a function of the magnetic field spectral density. The results can be applied to evaluate the heating power of the solar corona at known data from satellites' magnetometers. This heating rate can be incorporated in global models for heating of the solar corona and creation of the solar wind. The final formula for the heating power is illustrated with a model spectral density of the magnetic field obtained by analysis of the Voyager 1 mission results. The influence of high frequency dissipative modes is also taken into account and it is concluded that for evaluation of the total coronal heating it is necessary to know the spectral density of the fluctuating component of the magnetic field up to the frequency of electron-proton collisions.

Abstract:We show how the multiplicative structure on Pythagorean triples defined by Beauregard--Suryanarayan arises from automorphisms of the hyperbolic plane, and how the structure theorem of this product follow naturally from this connection. We also show how the natural involution on Pythagorean triples is related to Pell's equation with the parameter 2, and prove a generalization of this phenomenon.

Abstract:The Padmakar-Ivan (PI) index of a graph G is given by PI(G)=∑e∈E(G)(|V(G)|−NG(e)) , where NG(e) is the number of equidistant vertices for the edge e . This paper presents a triangle cover for a graph, along with a novel method for finding the PI index using this cover. The technique is used to examine some chemical networks, including octahedral and oxide networks, leading to the determination of the exact formula for their PI indices. Additionally, the approach is used to study perfect graphs such as prismatic and chordal graphs. Finally, the PI index of chordal graphs with a diameter of two is investigated, focusing on their induced subgraphs.
