Abstract:INTRODUCTION The quality of life in patients with heart failure is diminished by symptoms of disease, affected social connections, frequent hospitalisations, side effects caused by medication, and costs of treatment borne by the patient himself. OBJECTIVE The objective of this research was to measure the quality of life of patients with heart failure and assess any potential changes during a six-month period. METHOD This research is a follow-up study, and comprised 56 patients who were treated from September 1998 to August 1999 at the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases of the Clinical Centre of Serbia. During the first hospitalisation, an initial baseline measurement of quality of life was conducted. The measurement was then repeated after three and six months, during check-ups. The measurement was conducted by using a special questionnaire for patients suffering from heart disorders, the "Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire." RESULTS The results showed a considerable improvement in the overall quality of life between the baseline and second measurements (F = 6.263; p = 0.020), as well as considerable improvement in the physical dimension of quality of life between the baseline and first measurements (F = 6.797; p = 0.016) and between the baseline and second measurements (F = 5.351; p = 0.030). CONCLUSION Thanks to the application of the special Minnesota questionnaire, it was possible to measure small but considerable changes in the patients' quality of life.
Incidence and preventive treatment for deep vein thrombosis with our own preventive protocol in total hip and knee arthroplasty

Abstract:The aim of the present study was to investigate the perioperative and postoperative incidence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and validate the effectiveness of our own preventive treatment protocol for venous thromboembolism (VTE) occurrence in lower extremity arthroplasty patients. The subjects were 1,054 patients (mean age: 74.3 years) who underwent total hip arthroplasty (THA) or total knee arthroplasty (TKA) at our institutions between April 2014 and March 2017. We examined the frequencies of pre- and post-operative DVT by lower extremity Doppler images, and the incidence rate at proximal or distal regions as well as that according to preoperative DVT status were evaluated. Preoperative DVT was detected in 6.5% (69 cases) of our cohort and those were located 1.4% (15 cases) at proximal and 5.1% (54 cases) at distal regions. A significantly higher rate of postoperative DVT development was observed in preoperative DVT+ THA patients ( P = 0.0075), but not in TKA patients only with a higher tendency ( P = 0.56). The overall incidence of DVT up to 2 weeks after surgeries was 27.3% (288 cases); however, the rate in proximal femur regions was suppressed to 2.8% (30 cases), and there was no symptomatic pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) case. The results demonstrated the importance of regular Doppler examination for early detection of postoperative DVT occurrence and the following immediate treatment initiation. Our own VTE preventive treatment protocol could reduce the development of proximal DVT, and the periodic monitoring as well as prompt treatment might prevent the fatal PTE. osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Abstract:Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after total hip or knee arthroplasty is relatively common and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality, presenting a large clinical burden. The objective of this study was to investigate the incidence and risk factors for DVT after total joint arthroplasty. This retrospective review was conducted in a single institution. The patients received postoperative DVT chemoprophylaxis (Fraxiparine or Rivaroxaban), followed by venography to check for DVT on the third to ninth postoperative day. The clinical characteristics were summarized and analyzed using SPSS version 17.0. From March 2010 to July 2013, 963 patients were enrolled in the study. DVT chemoprophylaxis was administered to all of the 963 patients. DVT occurred in 173 subjects (17.96%). Univariate analysis showed that age (P<0.001), BMI (P<0.01), cholesterol (P<0.001), high-density lipoprotein (P<0.001), apolipoprotein A (P<0.01), history of tumor (P<0.05), visual analogue scale (VAS) pain score (P<0.001), and operative duration (P<0.05) were significant risk factors for DVT. The incidence of DVT was 17.96% after total joint arthroplasty with prophylactic antithrombotic therapy. Age, BMI, cholesterol, high- density lipoprotein, apolipoprotein A, history of tumor, VAS score, and operative duration were significant risk factors for DVT. Copyright (C) 2017 The Author(s). A Randomized Controlled Study on Deep Vein Thrombosis after Total Hip Arthroplasty

Abstract:Objective To investigate the incidence rate and prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after total hip arthroplasty (THA). Methods From May 2007 to December 2008, 141 patients with THA underwent deep vein anterograde venagraphy of lower limb in order to find the location, size and num-ber of thrombus. There were 53 males and 88 females in our study. The patients ranged from 17 to 86 years old, with an average age of (63.20±13.78) years. The patients were randomly divided into anticoagulation group and non-anticoagulation group according to the use of low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) or not. There were 82 patients in non-anticoagulation group and 59 ptients in non-anticoagulation group. The diag-nosis of DVT was according to the criterion recommended by Rabinov and Paulin in 1972, combining with the experience of the civil scholars. Depending on the finding of deep vein anterograde venography, the DVT was classified into proximal type, distal and mixed ones. Results The incidence rate of DVT after THA was 32.62% (46 patients). There were proximal DVT in one case, mixed DVT in two cases, distal DVT in 43 cases. Thirty-four patients (73.9%) had not obvious clinical signs and symptoms. There was no difference in incidence rate between the non-anticoagulation group (59 patients) and anticoagulation group (82 patients). Conclusion The incident of DVT after THA can be found accurately by digital lower limb venography technology. There is no direct relation between clinical DVT and clinical evidence. LHMN can decrease the incident rate, but there is no statistical significance. It is necessary to adopt individual thromboembolism prophylaxis measures.
Duplex ultrasonography after total hip or knee arthroplasty

Abstract:We prospectively studied all patients admitted for total hip (THR) or knee (TKR) arthroplasty from July 2000 to February 2001. No pharmacological anticoagulation was given. All patients received a standardized postoperative rehabilitation regimen. Forty-six patients with known risk factors for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) were excluded. Eighty patients were studied (22 THR, 58 TKR; 55 women, 25 men). Mean age was 68 (30-90) years. Duplex ultrasonography on both lower limbs was performed on days 5-7 postoperatively. Location and extent of any thrombus were documented. In patients with distal DVT, a follow-up scan was done on days 10-14. If proximal propagation was observed, patients received full anticoagulation. If no propagation was detected, the distal thrombus was considered stable and clinical observation was continued. In the THR group, 1/22 and in the TKR group 9/58 were found to have distal DVT. All were asymptomatic. On follow-up scanning, none showed proximal propagation. All patients were followed up for at least 18 months, and none showed postthrombotic symptoms. Isolated distal DVT in "low-risk" Chinese patients after THR or TKR is not uncommon. Clinically they are usually "silent." If routine perioperative pharmacologic antithrombotic prophylaxis is not practiced, monitoring with duplex ultrasonography may need to be considered.

Abstract:Background:Minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty (THA) by anterolateral approach (OCM technique) has small trauma, quick recovery and theoretically low incidence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). However, the accurate incidence of DVT by radiological examination is still lacking. Objective:To identify the incidence of venographic DVT after THA with OCM technique and to provide guidance for the prevention of thrombus. Methods:TTotally 27 patients (13 males and 14 females) with unilateral OCM technique were enrolled in the study. There were 9 cases with avascular necrosis of femoral head, 7 with femoral neck fracture, 6 with developmental dysplasia of the hip, 3 with osteoarthritis of the hip and 2 with ankylosing spondylitis. The mean age of the patients was (63.4 ± 16.4) years (ranging from 28 to 90 years) and the mean BMI was (24.9 ± 2.42) kg/m2 (ranging from 21.2 to 29.8 kg/m2). Rivaroxaban and intermittent pneumatic compression were used after THA. The operation time, length of incision, discrepancy of lower limb, time for weight-bearing, VAS score at day 1 and day 3 postoperatively, transfusion and blood loss during and after THA were evaluated. The DVT were assessed by bilateral venography in the patients with femoral neck fracture preopera-tively and in all patients 3 to 5 days postoperatively. Results:The mean length of incision was (8.5±0.6) cm (ranging from 8 to 10 cm). The mean operation time was (82±13) min (ranging from 65 to 125 min). 4 patients received transfusion. The blooding loss during was (225±72) ml (ranging from 100 to 350 ml) and the postoperative drainage was (457 ± 218) ml (ranging from 120 to 905 ml). Blood was transfused in 4 pa-tients. Active hip flexion exercise was achieved in all the patients. The discrepancy of lower limb was less than one centime-ter. The mean VAS score on day 1 and day 3 postoperatively was 2.5±1.4 (0 to 6) and 1.9±1.2 (0 to 4). All the patients can afford weight-bearing in 2 to 3 days after THA. Two patients with femoral neck fracture were demonstrated as DVT preoper-atively and postoperatively. Only one of the other 25 patients was diagnosed as DVT postoperatively. Conclusions:OCM technique can significantly decrease the incidence of DVT after THA.
Deep Vein Thrombosis After Total Hip Arthroplasty And Total Knee Arthroplasty In Patients With Previous Ischemic Stroke

Abstract:The present study evaluated the prevalence and therapy of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in 57 patients with previous ischemic stroke. Postoperative anticoagulants were used for DVT prophylaxis, and batroxobin and prolonged anticoagulants were used for thrombolysis in DVT subjects. The incidence of DVT after THA and TKA in patients with previous ischemic stroke was 16.2% and 20%, respectively. No bleeding complications were observed and no new ischemic stroke occurred during the following 3 months. The prevalence DVT after THA and TKA in patients with previous ischemic stroke was not specific, and the treatment of DVT with batroxobin and anticoagulants was effective and safe.

Abstract:Recurrent chromosomal abnormalities present in the malignant cells of children with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) often correlate closely with specific clinical and biologic characteristics of the disease. Certain unique cytogenetic rearrangements are associated with distinct morphologic leukemic subtypes. These rearrangements should be detectable in most children with AML and MDS with the use of complementary molecular techniques such as fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), Southern blotting, and polymerase chain reaction. Apart from the diagnostic assessment, cytogenetic findings sometimes predict clinical outcome and thus also serve as prognostic parameters, which may affect the therapeutic decision. Alternative classifications of AML that take into account the genetic information are being proposed. Cytogenetic and molecular analyses may allow clinicians to more appropriately direct types of treatment. Abnormal fusion transcripts and chimeric proteins derived from karyotypic abnormalities now are being also targeted by novel therapeutic approaches.
Clinical Risk Factors for Deep Vein Thrombosis after Total Hip and Knee Arthroplasty

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To analyze the clinical risk factors for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after total hip and knee arthroplasty in Chinese patients who received prophylactic treatment for DVT.METHODS:We evaluated 128 total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in 95 patients performed at our center from April 2004 to August 2004, which included 48 THAs in 43 patients and 80 TKAs in 52 patients. There were 27 men and 68 women with a mean age of 59.77 years (range, 23-78 years). All patients had been given low-molecular-weight heparin before operation and for 7-10 days post-operation to prevent DVT. Color Doppler ultrasonography was used to detect DVT of bilateral lower extremities in all patients before operation and at 7-10 days after operation. Nineteen clinical factors were examined preoperation and 7-10 days post-operation in order to analyze their influences on DVT formation after surgery.RESULTS:There were 45 patients who developed DVT after operation. The incidence of DVT in all patients was 47.4% (45/95) and the incidence of proximal DVT was 3.2%. There were more asymptomatic DVT (57.8%, 26/45) than symptomatic ones, and some patients without DVT (14%, 7/50) presented some of the DVT symptoms. Logistic regression analysis demonstrated a definite association of female, obesity (representative by BMI), cement usage and diagnosed RA with DVT with odds ratio of 10.008, 3.094, 8.887, and 0.194 respectively. Other clinical factors had no statistically significant association with DVT.CONCLUSIONS:Female, obesity, and cement usage were the risk factors for DVT after THA and TKA, and diagnosed RA was the protecting factors for DVT after THA and TKA. Other clinical factors such as age, OA, type of implant, monolateral or bilateral operation, duration of anesthesia, surgery and bandage usage for blood control, time for immobilization et al were not the risk factors for DVT.
Preoperative Evaluation of Soleal Vein Diameter by Ultrasound is Beneficial for Prophylaxis of Deep Vein Thrombosis after Total Knee or Hip Arthroplasty

Abstract:Purpose. The purpose of this retrospective study was to determine the association between preoperative soleal vein (SV) diameter and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) following total joint arthroplasty (TJA). Methods. A total of 402 patients were enrolled, with 229 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and 173 patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA). Ultrasonography was performed 1-3 days preoperatively, on postoperative days 1, 3, and 7, or before discharge and during follow-up. The SV diameter was assessed preoperatively. Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to compare parameters between the DVT group and the non-DVT group. Results. 78 patients (19.4%) were found to have DVT during hospitalization and after discharge and 14 patients (3.5%) developed symptomatic DVT. Multiple regression analysis showed that SV diameter, advanced age, and surgery type were independent predictors of postoperative DVT. In the logistic regression analysis for symptomatic DVT, SV diameter was found to be the only predictor. In the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) analysis for the value of SV diameter in diagnosing DVT, the area under curve (AUC) was 0.701 ((95% CI 0.636-0.766), P<0.001) and when the cut-off value of SV diameter was set at 0.57 cm, the sensitivity and specificity of SV diameter were 62.7% and 72.1%, respectively. Conclusions. SV diameter was an independent risk factor for total and symptomatic DVT after TJA. Preoperative ultrasound screening of the SV diameter may be beneficial for the prevention of postoperative DVT.
Multimodal thromboprophylaxis following primary hip arthroplasty: the role of adjuvant intermittent pneumatic calf compression

Abstract:We report a retrospective review of the incidence of venous thromboembolism in 463 consecutive patients who underwent primary total hip arthroplasty (487 procedures). Treatment included both total hip replacement and hip resurfacing, and the patients were managed without anticoagulants. The thromboprophylaxis regimen included an antiplatelet agent, generally aspirin, hypotensive epidural anaesthesia, elastic compression stockings and early mobilisation. In 258 of these procedures (244 patients) performed in 2005 (cohort A) mechanical compression devices were not used, whereas in 229 (219 patients) performed during 2006 (cohort B) bilateral intermittent pneumatic calf compression was used. All operations were performed through a posterior mini-incision approach. Patients who required anticoagulation for pre-existing medical problems and those undergoing revision arthroplasty were excluded. Doppler ultrasonographic screening for deep-vein thrombosis was performed in all patients between the fourth and sixth post-operative days. All patients were reviewed at a follow-up clinic six to ten weeks after the operation. In addition, response to a questionnaire was obtained at the end of 12 weeks post-operatively. No symptomatic calf or above-knee deep-vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism occurred. In 25 patients in cohort A (10.2%) and in ten patients in cohort B (4.6%) asymptomatic calf deep-vein thromboses were detected ultrasonographically. This difference was statistically significant (p = 0.03). The regimen followed by cohort B offers the prospect of a low incidence of venous thromboembolism without subjecting patients to the higher risk of bleeding associated with anticoagulant use.
Venous thromboembolism is rare with a multimodal prophylaxis protocol after total hip arthroplasty

Abstract:We evaluated the safety and efficacy of a multimodal approach for prophylaxis of thromboembolism after total hip arthroplasty, which includes preoperative discontinuation of procoagulant medication; autologous blood donation; hypotensive epidural anesthesia; intravenous administration of heparin during surgery and before femoral preparation; aspiration of intramedullary contents; pneumatic compression; knee-high elastic stockings; and early mobilization and chemoprophylaxis for 4 to 6 weeks (aspirin 83%; warfarin 17%). One thousand nine hundred forty-seven consecutive, nonselected patients (2032 total hip arthroplasties) who received this multimodal prophylaxis were observed prospectively for 3 months. The incidence of asymptomatic deep vein thrombosis assessed by ultrasound in the first 171 patients was 6.4%. The incidence of clinical deep vein thrombosis in the subsequent 1776 patients was 2.5%. Symptomatic pulmonary embolism occurred in 0.6% (12 of 1947; nine in patients receiving aspirin and three in patients receiving Coumadin), none of them fatal. One patient died of a myocardial infarct. This multimodal approach is safe and efficacious and compares favorably with those reported in the literature and with our historic controls. If these preventive measures are strictly observed during the perioperative period, postoperative chemoprophylaxis does not need to be aggressive in the patient without predisposing factors. Our low rate of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism do not support routine anticoagulation prophylaxis with drugs that increase risk of bleeding. Deep Venous Thrombosis in the Nonoperated Leg after Primary Major Lower Extremity Arthroplasty: A Retrospective Study Based on Diagnosis Using Venography

Abstract:Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common complication after major orthopedic surgery. However, the reported rates of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) vary widely. Our aim was to study the incidence of DVT in the nonoperated leg after primary major lower extremity arthroplasty using bilateral venography. The records of patients who underwent total hip arthroplasty (THA) or total knee arthroplasty (TKA) at our institution between August 2013 and August 2014 were reviewed. We examined the records for a total of 380 patients, of which 244 had undergone bilateral venography 3-5 days after THA or TKA. A total of 244 patients undergoing TKA (n=119) or THA (n=125) were recruited for this study. DVT was diagnosed in 42 (17.2%) of the 244 patients; nine patients developed DVT in both legs, and four developed DVT only in the nonoperated leg. All of the DVTs were located in calf veins. DVT occurred more frequently after TKA than THA, especially in muscular veins. Female sex and older age were found to be positive risk factors for DVT after THA. The incidence of DVT after major lower arthroplasty is high. DVT in nonoperated legs should be carefully considered because of its potential risks, especially in left. Distal DVT also has a high risk to develop pulmonary embolism (PE). The combination of anticoagulant and pneumatic compression is a good measure to avoid proximal DVT, and it is well tolerated to stop anticoagulant if the patients were diagnosed as having no DVT. Towards Adaptive Costing of Database Access Methods

Abstract:Most database query optimizers use cost models to identify good query execution plans. Inaccuracies in the cost models can cause query optimizers to select poor plans. In this paper, we consider the problem of accurately estimating the I/O costs of database access methods, such as index scans. We present some experimental results which show that existing analytical I/O cost models can be very inaccurate. We also present a simple analysis which shows that larger cost estimation errors can cause the query optimizer to make larger mistakes in plan selection. We propose the use of an adaptive black-box statistical cost estimation methodology to achieve better estimates.

Abstract:Objective To observe the incidence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after total joint arthroplasty under the treatment of low-molecular-weight heparin prophylaxis. Methods Color Doppler ultrasonography was used to detect DVT in 121 patients with prophylaxis before and after arthroplasty. Results The total incidence of DVT was 50.4% among the 121 patients, with 13.3% in total knee replacement, and 72.4% in total hip replacement. The incidence of proximal DVT was 3.3%, while the incidence of distal DVT was 47.1%. Conclusion The incidence of DVT is still high in total joint arthroplasty even treated by prophylaxis. Ultrasonography should be considered as a noninvasive, accurate, useful method in diagnosing DVT before and after arthroplasty.
[Characteristics of thermal inactivation of malate dehydrogenase].

Abstract:Over the range 20-52 degrees C thermal inactivation of malate dehydrogenase (MDH) was studied with the aim of well grounded choice of its stabilization ways. The process was described by the pseudofirst order rate constants, kin, dependent on enzyme concentration. The rate constant of enzyme inactivation at the "infinite" dilution in general form equals 1.40 X 10(27) X exp (-43 000/RT) s-1, whereas at high enzyme concentration it is 1.26 X 10(8) X exp (-17 700/RT) s-1. The limiting step of the MDH inactivation is the enzyme dissociation into its subunits. In the concentrated enzyme solution a protein association is accompanied by its stabilization. The methods of characterization of oligomeric proteins dissociative inactivation are discussed.

Abstract:Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) is one of the most common complications after total joint replacement, which is also one of the most concerned problems for clinicians.Domestic research data shows that the incidence of DVT in patients without thrombotic prophylaxis after joint replacement surgery are 20.6％-40.0％.The occurrence mechanism of DVT is explained by the Virchow theory, that is blood stasis, the blood vessel wall damage and blood coagulation state.The diagnostic rate of DVT is not satisfactory.The diagnosis of symptomatic DVT depends mainly on clinical symptoms and auxiliary examination.The diagnosis of asymptomatic DVT is mainly based on the auxiliary examination.The prevention and treatment of DVT after artificial joint replacement is currently mainly concentrated in the aspects of new oral anticoagulant agents, drug prevention method, and time limit.

Abstract:Venous thromboembolism (VTE), presenting as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism, is one of the major complications following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). We conducted this prospective observational study to identify the prevalence of VTE among patients undergoing TKA by using computed tomographic pulmonary angiography in combination with bilateral lower limb venography. We enrolled consecutive patients admitted to our institution for primary unilateral TKA from September 2013 to July 2014. All participants underwent a standard surgical procedure of TKA. Computed tomographic pulmonary angiography and bilateral lower limb venography were performed within a week after the operation. We compared age, sex, BMI, comorbidities, data of laboratory tests, operation time and thromboprophylaxis between VTE group and non-VTE group to identify the risk factors. A total of 109 patients were enrolled in this study. The incidence of symptomatic DVT, asymptomatic DVT, symptomatic pulmonary embolism and asymptomatic pulmonary embolism following TKA was 4.6, 18.3, 1.8 and 1.8%, respectively. Elevated level of D-dimer was significantly associated with postoperative VTE. The incidence of VTE following TKA was high despite thromboprophylaxis, and asymptomatic DVTs accounted for a large proportion of thrombotic events.

Abstract:Objective:To explore the incidence and risk factors of preoperative deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of elective total joint arthroplasty (TJA).Methods:Data of 500 patients before TJA from March 2015 to August 2016 who underwent ultrasound surveillance were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were divided into DVT group and non-DVT group according to results of ultrasound. Parameters including demographic data, basic medical history, and surgical information and laboratory indexes were collected. Risk factors were assessed via univariate, multivariate and logistic regression analysis.Results:Preoperative DVT was detected in 23 cases (4.6%, 23/500), all of which occurred in the intermuscular vein with no symptom, and among them there were 16 cases (5.6%, 16/285) before total knee arthroplasty and 7 cases (3.3%, 7/215) before total hip arthroplasty. Univariate analysis showed that age ( t=2.266, P=0.024), female patients ( χ2=4.028, P=0.045), history of hypertension ( χ2=7.907, P=0.005), D-dimer ≥0.5 μg/ml ( χ2=13.171, P < 0.001) were significantly higher than those in non-DVT group, and the differences were statistically significant. Multivariate analysis showed that D-dimer ≥0.5 μg/ml [ OR=6.655, 95% CI (1.929, 22.960), P=0.003] and history of hypertension [ OR=2.715, 95% CI (1.017, 7.250), P=0.046] were independent risk factors for preoperative DVT. Among them, the thrombus of 14 cases located in the operation side, 6 cases in non-operation side, and 3 cases in bilateral sides. Postoperative ultrasound showed that newly DVT occurred in 9 patients of whom 5 cases located in the contralateral muscular veins and 4 cases in the nearby muscular veins. After discharge, 22 patients (95.7%) with preoperative DVT were further evaluated by ultrasound. The average follow-up time was 3.0 months (range from 6 weeks to 9 months). The results showed that thrombus of 7 cases were completely dissolved, 13 cases were partially dissolved, and 2 cases remained unchanged. Thrombus extensions to proximal veins or symptomatic PE were not found. Conclusion:The incidence of preoperative DVT in patients with elective joint replacement was about 4.6%, among which D-dimer ≥0.5 μg/ml and history of hypertension were the risk factors for preoperative thrombosis.

Abstract:Background: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) remains a life-threatening complication of arthroplasty. It remains controversial for anticoagulation strategies after total hip arthroplasty (THA). Methods: A retrospective study was conducted to determine whether clinical risk factors and/or genetic variants might predict the development of DVT and find efficient anticoagulation strategies. Nanjing DVT study (NJDVTS), a retrospective and largest study conducted in a single center included 908 subjects who received knee or hip arthroplasty. Results: A total of 328 subjects (215 women and 113 men) who underwent uncemented THA were studied. Patients were followed up 3 months later after surgery. DVT was tested by contrast venography (CV). We checked genetic variants for DVT by a case-control study. Logistic regression analysis was performed to predict of the ability of each covariate and genetic factor. We also used logistic regression analysis with variable selection for obtaining the prediction model of DVT. Conclusions: DVT after THA was affected by personal (age) and clinical factors (mechanical compression, duration of surgery). THA with short duration of surgery did not require prophylactic anticoagulation. Extended anticoagulation was unnecessary for non-DVT patients after discharge from hospital.
