Abstract:We present the current status of searches for physics beyond the Standard Model at the Tevatron 1.96-TeV proton-antiproton collider using data collected with the CDF experiment. We cover searches for supersymmetry, extra dimensions and new gauge bosons.

Abstract:The current framework of network utility maximization for distributed rate allocation assumes fixed channel code rates. However, by adapting the physical layer channel coding, different rate-reliability tradeoffs can be achieved on each link and for each end user. Consider a network where each user has a utility function that depends on both signal quality and data rate, and each link may provide a `fatter' (`thinner') information `pipe' by allowing a higher (lower) decoding error probability. We propose two distributed, pricing-based algorithms to attain optimal rate-reliability tradeoff, with an interpretation that each user provides its willingness to pay for reliability to the network and the network feeds back congestion prices to users. The proposed algorithms converge to a tradeoff point between rate and reliability, which is proved to be globally optimal for codes with sufficiently large codeword lengths and user utilities with sufficiently negative curvatures.

Abstract:This is an auspicious moment in experimental particle physics -there are large data samples at the Tevatron and a new energy regime being explored at the Large Hadron Collider with ever larger data samples. The coincidence of these two events suggests that we will soon be able to address the question, what lies beyond the standard model? Particle physics's current understanding of the universe is embodied in it. The model has been tested to extreme precision - better than a part in ten thousand - but we suspect that it is only an approximation, and that physics beyond this standard model will appear in the data of the Tevatron and LHC in the near future. This brief review touches on the status of searches for new physics at the time of the conference.

Scaling law for the critical function of an approximate renormalization

Abstract:We construct an approximate renormalization for Hamiltonian systems with two degrees of freedom in order to study the break-up of invariant tori with arbitrary frequency. We derive the equation of the critical surface of the renormalization map, and we compute the scaling behavior of the critical function of one-parameter families of Hamiltonians, near rational frequencies. For the forced pendulum model, we find the same scaling law found for the standard map in [Carletti and Laskar, preprint (2000)]. We discuss a conjecture on the link between the critical function of various types of forced pendulum models, with the Bruno function.

Abstract:The Large Hadron Collider presents an unprecedented opportunity to probe the realm of new physics in the TeV region and shed light on some of the core unresolved issues of particle physics. These include the nature of electroweak symmetry breaking, the origin of mass, the possible constituent of cold dark matter, new sources of CP violation needed to explain the baryon excess in the universe, the possible existence of extra gauge groups and extra matter, and importantly the path Nature chooses to resolve the hierarchy problem - is it supersymmetry or extra dimensions. Many models of new physics beyond the standard model contain a hidden sector which can be probed at the LHC. Additionally, the LHC will be a top factory and accurate measurements of the properties of the top and its rare decays will provide a window to new physics. Further, the LHC could shed light on the origin of neutralino masses if the new physics associated with their generation lies in the TeV region. Finally, the LHC is also a laboratory to test the hypothesis of TeV scale strings and D-brane models. An overview of these possibilities is presented in the spirit that it will serve as a companion to the Technical Design Reports (TDRs) by the particle detector groups ATLAS and CMS to facilitate the test of the new theoretical ideas at the LHC. Which of these ideas stands the test of the LHC data will govern the course of particle physics in the subsequent decades.

Abstract:The CDF and D0 experiments at the Tevatron $p\bar{p}$ collider established that extensive and detailed exploration of the b-quark dynamics is possible in hadron collisions, with results competitive and supplementary to B-factories. In this paper we review the current state of Tevatron's heavy flavor measurements considering two main categories: searches for non standard model physics (results on rare decays and CP-violation) and determinations of standard model parameters (annihilation in $B \to h^+ h^-$ decays and $\gamma$ angle measurement through $B\to DK$ modes).

Abstract:We present some new results on searches for new physics at the Tevatron Run 1 (1992 -- 1996). The topics covered are searches for R-Parity violating and conserving mSUGRA, large extra dimensions in di-photon and monojet channels, leptoquark in jets + missing Et channel, and two model independent searches. All results were finalized during the past year.

Abstract:Searches for physics beyond the standard model are considered one of the corner stones of the physics program at the two multipurpose experiments, ATLAS and CMS, at the LHC. Both experiments have conducted numerous searches for new supersymmetric particles in a wide variety of final states at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV. The datasets discussed in these proceedings consist of 36 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collisions collected during the 2016 run of the LHC. No signs of new physics are found, however, limits on different supersymmetric scenarios are placed and extend previous exclusion regions from 7 and 8 TeV by several hundred GeV.

Abstract:This paper reviews results of beyond-the-standard model searches at the Tevatron presented in a plenary talk at the Europhysics Conference on High Energy Physics (EPS-HEP) in Grenoble. Here I present a selection of results from the CDF and D0 experiments that were shown at the conference during the parallel sessions. Much more is available and can be found at the experiment's web pages. This proceeding essentially focuses on searches in the dilepton, diboson, and t-tbar final states. Throughout the paper, hints of new physics observed at the Tevatron are also briefly discussed.

Abstract:Jets have been used to verify the theory of quantum chromodynamics (QCD), measure the structure of the proton and to search for the physics beyond the Standard Model. In this article, we review the current status of jet physics at the Tevatron, a sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV p-pbar collider at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. We report on recent measurements of the inclusive jet production cross section and the results of searches for physics beyond the Standard Model using jets. Dijet production measurements are also reported.

Abstract:In this article results from supersymmetry searches at D0 and CDF are reported. Searches for third generation squarks, searches for gauginos, and searches for models with R-parity violation are described. As no signs of supersymmetry for these models are observed, the most stringent limits to date are presented.

Abstract:This paper reviews some of the most recent results from CDF and D0 experiments on searches for supersymmetry (SUSY) at the Tevatron. We focus on searches for chargino/neutralino, stop, sbottom, and long lived massive SUSY particles, on data samples up to ~1 fb-1. Abstract:The symmetries of the Standard Model give rise to the forces that act on particles, and the corresponding force mediators. While the Standard Model is an excellent description of particle interactions, it has known limitations; it is therefore important to search for new physics beyond the Standard Model, potentially indicating as-of-yet unknown symmetries of nature. The ATLAS and CMS collaborations have detailed physics programmes, involving a large number of searches for new physics in hadronic final states. As the start of Run 3 of the LHC is imminent, now is a good time to review the progress made and the status of hadronic searches during Run 2 at a centre-of-mass collision energy of 13 TeV. This review provides an overview of the motivations and challenges of hadronic final states at the LHC, followed by an introduction to jet reconstruction, calibration, and tagging. Three classes of searches for new physics in hadronic final states are discussed: di-jet searches, searches for missing transverse momentum in association with another object, and searches for hadronic di-boson resonances. The complementarity of these different analysis strategies is discussed, emphasising the importance of a varied hadronic physics programme in the search for new physics.

Abstract:We report new results from CDF on single-diffractive dijet and W/Z production, and on exclusive dijet, diphoton, and dilepton production in proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron. The measured exclusive dijet and diphoton cross sections provide a test of theoretical predictions for exclusive Higgs production at the LHC.

Abstract:Results are presented from a search for new physics in high-mass diphoton events from proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV. The data set was collected in 2016-2018 with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb$^{-1}$. Events with a diphoton invariant mass greater than 500 GeV are considered. Two different techniques are used to predict the standard model backgrounds: parametric fits to the smoothly-falling background and a first-principles calculation of the standard model diphoton spectrum at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics calculations. The first technique is sensitive to resonant excesses while the second technique can identify broad differences in the invariant mass shape. The data are used to constrain the production of heavy Higgs bosons, Randall-Sundrum gravitons, the large extra dimensions model of Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos, and Dvali (ADD), and the continuum clockwork mechanism. No statistically significant excess is observed. The present results are the strongest limits to date on ADD extra dimensions and RS gravitons with a coupling parameter greater than 0.1.

Abstract:We present the results and prospects for searches beyond the Standard Model (SM) at the LHC by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations. The minimal supersymmetric extension of the SM has been investigated in various configurations and lower limits are set on the s-particle masses. The searches for other scenarios of physics beyond the SM are also presented and lower limits on the mass scale are derived in a large variety of models (new heavy gauge bosons, extra-dimensions, compositeness or dark matter). The prospects for physics using 300 /fb and 3000 /fb of data at the high luminosity LHC are also shown.
