Abstract:A special-relativistic scalar-vector theory of gravitation is presented which mimics an important class of solutions of Einstein's gravitational field equations. The theory includes solutions equivalent to Schwarzschild, Kerr, Reissner-Nordstroem, and Friedman metrics as well as to gravitational waves. In fact, all the empirical tests until now due to general relativity can be explained within this flat spacetime theory.

Abstract:The proof that a consistent theory of gravity cannot be constructed in a flat spacetime rests on the {\it assumption} that atoms be equal in every conditions. However special relativity and the principle of equivalence impose that atoms are equal only when relatively at rest and in equivalent gravitational positions. This is further backed up by implementing in QM the mass variation for moving objects and for bodies in a gravitational field.

Abstract:Gravity whose nature is fundamental to the understanding of solar system, galaxies and the structure and evolution of the Universe, is theorized by the assumption of curved spacetime, according to Einstein`s general theory of relativity (EGR). Particles move on curved spacetime along straight lines (geodesics). In the last year, I proposed the mirrored version of EGR, the flat-spacetime general relativity (FGR), in which particles move along curved lines on flat spacetime. This puts gravitational study back to the traditional Lagrangian formulation. In fact, all claimed accurate verification of general relativity is the verification of FGR, because people when confronting GR to observational data, calculate time, distance, or angle by directly using the coordinates in Schwarzschild solution or in post Newtonian formulation. For example, people calculate the angles by directly using the coordinate $\phi$. However, only when spacetime is flat does there exists one coordinate system which has direct meaning of time, distance, angle, and vice verse. This is the famous Riemann theorem. Therefore, the more claims are made that classical tests of general relativity fit data with great accuracy, the more falsified is the curved-spacetime assumption. People made three such specious claims to EGR as collected in the present paper. However, FGR predicts observationally verified results consistently for solar system, galaxies, and the universe on the whole. I show that the possibility of curved spacetime, black holes, and big bang is less than one billionth. An experiment is proposed whose results will completely decide the fate of curved spacetime assumption. with the original article `Einstein`s Geometrization vs. Holonomic Cancellation of Gravity via Spatial Coordinate-rescale` attached.

Abstract:Special relativity turns out to be more than coordinate transformations in which the constancy of the speed of light plays the central role between two inertial reference frames. Special relativity, in essence, is a theory of four-dimensional flat spacetime. Euclidian space spans three of the spacetime's dimensions and time spans the fourth. Properties of light may not be needed to describe spacetime, which exists independently of light. The article shows that a theory of spacetime can be constructed from a geometric viewpoint in which the speed of light does not play any role. Moreover postulating four-dimensional geometry significantly simplifies the concept of special relativity.

A viable relativistic scalar theory of gravitation

Abstract:We build a self-consistent relativistic scalar theory of gravitation on a flat Minkowski spacetime from a general field Lagrangian. It is shown that, for parameters that satisfy the Equivalence Principle, this theory predicts the same outcome as general relativity for every classical solar-system test. This theory also admits gravitational waves that propagate at the speed of light, and the gravitational radiation energy loss in a binary system is shown to be very similar to the GR prediction. We then analyze the strong gravity regime of the theory for a spherically symmetric configuration and find that there is an effective "singularity" near the Schwarzschild radius. The main goal of this work is to show that, contrary to what is commonly believed, there are relativistic scalar theories of gravitation defined on a Minkowski spacetime that are not ruled out by the classical solar system tests of general relativity.

Abstract:The configuration space of general relativity is superspace—the space of all Riemannian 3-metrics modulo diffeomorphisms. However, it has been argued that the configuration space for gravity should be conformal superspace—the space of all Riemannian 3-metrics modulo diffeomorphisms and conformal transformations. Recently a manifestly three-dimensional theory was constructed with conformal superspace as the configuration space. Here a fully four-dimensional action is constructed so as to be invariant under conformal transformations of the 4-metric using general relativity as a guide. This action is then decomposed to a (3 + 1)-dimensional form and from this to its Jacobi form. The surprising thing is that the new theory turns out to be precisely the original three-dimensional theory. The physical data are identified and used to find the physical representation of the theory. In this representation the theory is extremely similar to general relativity. The clarity of the four-dimensional picture should prove very useful for comparing the theory with those aspects of general relativity which are usually treated in the four-dimensional framework.

Abstract:Flatly Foliated Relativity (FFR) is a new theory which conceptually lies between Special Relativity (SR) and General Relativity (GR), in which spacetime is foliated by flat Euclidean spaces. While GR is based on the idea that "matter curves spacetime", FFR is based on the idea that "matter curves spacetime, but not space". This idea, inspired by the observed spatial flatness of our local universe, is realized by considering the same action as used in GR, but restricting it only to metrics which are foliated by flat spatial slices. FFR can be thought of as describing gravity without gravitational waves. In FFR, a positive cosmological constant implies several interesting properties which do not follow in GR: the metric equations are elliptic on each euclidean slice, there exists a unique vacuum solution among those spherically symmetric at infinity, and there exists a geometric way to define the arrow of time. Furthermore, as gravitational waves do not exist in FFR, there are simple analogs to the positive mass theorem and Penrose-type inequalities. Importantly, given that gravitational waves have a negligible effect on the curvature of spacetime, and that the universe appears to be locally flat, FFR may be a good approximation of GR. Moreover, FFR still admits many notable features of GR including the big bang, an accelerating expansion of the universe, and the Schwarzschild spacetime. Lastly, FFR is already known to have an existence theory for some simplified cases, which provokes an interesting discussion regarding the possibility of a more general existence theory, which may be relevant to understanding existence of solutions to GR.

Abstract:We study the thermodynamics of Einstein gravity with vanishing cosmological constant subjected to conformal boundary conditions. Our focus is on comparing the series of subextensive terms to predictions from thermal effective field theory, with which we find agreement for the boundary theory on a spatial sphere, hyperbolic space, and flat space. We calculate the leading Wilson coefficients and observe that the first subextensive correction to the free energy is negative. This violates a conjectured bound on this coefficient in quantum field theory, which we interpret as a signal that gravity does not fully decouple in the putative boundary dual.

Abstract:The gravitational equations were derived in general relativity (GR) using the assumption of their covariance relative to arbitrary transformations of coordinates. It has been repeatedly expressed an opinion over the past century that such equality of all coordinate systems may not correspond to reality. Nevertheless, no actual verification of the necessity of this assumption has been made to date. The paper proposes a theory of gravity with a constraint, the degenerate variants of which are general relativity (GR) and the unimodular theory of gravity. This constraint is interpreted from a physical point of view as a sufficient condition for the adiabaticity of the process of the evolution of the space-time metric. The original equations of the theory of gravity with the constraint are formulated. On this basis, a unified model of the evolution of the modern, early, and very early Universe is constructed that is consistent with the observational astronomical data but does not require the hypotheses of the existence of dark energy, dark matter or inflatons. It is claimed that: physical time is anisotropic, the gravitational field is the main source of energy of the Universe, the maximum global energy density in the Universe was 64 orders of magnitude smaller the Planckian one, and the entropy density is 18 orders of magnitude higher the value predicted by GR. The value of the relative density of neutrinos at the present time and the maximum temperature of matter in the early Universe are calculated. The wave equation of the gravitational field is formulated, its solution is found, and the nonstationary wave function of the very early Universe is constructed. It is shown that the birth of the Universe was random.

Abstract:The strong proper time dilation and radial contraction in the gravitational field of compact sources leads to a frozen state of matter. It is shown that the falling particles and photons can not cross the gravitational radius due to the freezing, the horizon and singularity can not be formed at any finite coordinate time moment t=const. As the result, general relativity really predicts the heavy baryonic and quark stars and quasars instead of the black holes. A model of the oscillating Universe without a cosmological singularity, having a new type of the cosmological redshift, is considered. The regularizations of loop divergencies in quantum field theory also can be explained as the gravitational effects.

Transverse Sound Revisited: A Directional Probe of the A-Phase of $UPt_3$

Abstract:We have measured the transverse ultrasonic attenuation, $\alpha_{q\epsilon}$, in a well-characterized single crystal of $UPt_3$ for propagation direction, ${\bf q}$, in the basal plane and polarization, $\epsilon$, in and out of the plane. Unlike previous measurements, the sample was of sufficient purity to exhibit three well-defined phases as a function of temperature and magnetic field. We uncover a functional dependence for the attenuation in the (zero field) high temperature phase (A-phase) which is distinctly different than that in the low temperature (B) phase. Our data provide unique directional information on the quasiparticle momentum distribution in this largely unstudied phase of $UPt_3$ and provide the first direct evidence that the two zero-field phases possess different symmetries.

Abstract:We discuss theoretical formalisms concerning with experimental verification of General Relativity (GR). Non-metric generalizations of GR are considered and a system of postulates is formulated for metric-affine and Finsler gravitational theories. We consider local observer reference frames to be a proper tool for comparing predictions of alternative theories with each other and with the observational data. Integral formula for geodesic deviation due to the deformation of connection is obtained. This formula can be applied for calculations of such effects as the bending of light and time-delay in presence of non-metrical effects.

Abstract:Contemporary relativity theory is restricted in two points: (1) a use of the Riemannian space-time geometry and (2) a use of inadequate (nonrelativistic) concepts. Reasons of these restrictions are analysed in [1]. Eliminating these restrictions the relativity theory is generalized on the case of non-Riemannian (nonaxiomatizable) space-time geometry. Taking into account a progress of a geometry and introducing adequate relativistic concepts, the elementary particle dynamics is generalized on the case of arbitrary space-time geometry. A use of adequate relativistic concepts admits one to formulate the simple demonstrable dynamics of particles.

Abstract:We consider antisymmetric Metric-Affine Theories of Gravity with a Lagrangian containing the most general terms up to dimension four and search for theories that are ghost- and tachyon-free when expanded around flat space. We find new examples that propagate only the graviton and one other massive degree of freedom of spin zero, one or two. These models require terms of the form $(\nabla T)^2$ in the Lagrangian, that have been largely ignored in the literature.

Einstein gravity as a 3D conformally invariant theory

Abstract:We give an alternative description of the physical content of general relativity that does not require a Lorentz invariant spacetime. Instead, we find that gravity admits a dual description in terms of a theory where local size is irrelevant. The dual theory is invariant under foliation preserving 3-diffeomorphisms and 3D conformal transformations that preserve the 3-volume (for the spatially compact case). Locally, this symmetry is identical to that of Horava-Lifshitz gravity in the high energy limit but our theory is equivalent to Einstein gravity. Specifically, we find that the solutions of general relativity, in a gauge where the spatial hypersurfaces have constant mean extrinsic curvature, can be mapped to solutions of a particular gauge fixing of the dual theory. Moreover, this duality is not accidental. We provide a general geometric picture for our procedure that allows us to trade foliation invariance for conformal invariance. The dual theory provides a new proposal for the theory space of quantum gravity.

It is argued that a viable quantum theory of gravity should be falsifiable, and hence it should dynamically explain the observed absence of quantum superpositions of space-time geometries in its classical limit.

Abstract:We construct a theory in which the gravitational interaction is described only by torsion, but that generalizes the Teleparallel Theory still keeping the invariance of local Lorentz transformations in one particular case. We show that our theory falls, to a certain limit of a real parameter, in the $f(\bar{R})$ Gravity or, to another limit of the same real parameter, in a modified $f(T)$ Gravity, interpolating between these two theories and still can fall on several other theories. We explicitly show the equivalence with $f(\bar{R})$ Gravity for cases of Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker flat metric for diagonal tetrads, and a metric with spherical symmetry for diagonal and non-diagonal tetrads. We do still four applications, one in the reconstruction of the de Sitter universe cosmological model, for obtaining a static spherically symmetric solution type-de Sitter for a perfect fluid, for evolution of the state parameter $\omega_{DE}$ and for the thermodynamics to the apparent horizon.

Abstract:In this paper, we explore a stationary BTZ space-time within the framework of modified gravity theory, specifically focusing on Ricci-inverse gravity. It is important to clarify that "Ricci-inverse" refers to the inverse of the Ricci tensor, not the Ricci scalar. We consider a general class of this gravity theory, where the function f is defined by , with and representing the Ricci and anti-curvature scalars, respectively and is the anti-curvature tensor. We demonstrate that stationary BTZ space-time is a valid solution in this gravity theory, wherein the cosmological constant undergoes modifications due to the coupling constants. Moreover, we study another modified gravity theory known as -gravity and analyze the stationary BTZ space-time. Subsequently, we fully integrate the geodesic equations for BTZ space-time constructed within the Ricci-Inverse gravity, expressing the solutions in terms of elementary functions and compared with the GR result. We classify different types of geodesics, including null and time-like geodesics, under three conditions: (i) nonzero mass and angular momentum, , (ii) massless BTZ space-time, and , and (iii) , that is -type, and analyze the results in modified gravity theories and compare with the general relativity case.

Abstract:One of the goals of the present article is to prove that a Lorentzian manifold is of constant curvature if and only if its pseudo-projective curvature tensor vanishes. It has been established that a conformally flat pseudo-projectively recurrent spacetime is a perfect fluid spacetime. As a consequence, it has been shown that such a spacetime represents a dust matter fluid, stiff matter and dark energy era under certain restrictions on the Ricci curvature. A conformally flat pseudo-projective recurrent spacetime has been analyzed in the perspective of -gravity theory. For the model , several energy conditions in terms of the Ricci curvature have been examined and, in addition, it has been shown that the Universe is in accelerating phase which satisfies the weak, null, dominant, and strong energy conditions.
