Abstract:P-dibromobenzene nanoparticles in a case of paradihlorbenzol molecules have been synthesized. Raman spectrums of these nanoparticles are measured. At diffusion of molecules of paradihlorbenzol in a pdibromobenzene nanoparticle solid solution formed. Modifications in structure of nanoparticles at diffusion are reflected in Raman spectrums. Unlike a solid solution single crystal, in nanoparticles the accelerated diffusion, $D = 1.3 \pm 0.02 10^{-11} cm^2/s$, is observed at room temperature. Calculations show that the accelerated diffusion is caused by magnification of parametres of a lattice at reduction of sizes of nanoparticles.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is: in nanoparticles, especially in p - dibromobenzene / p - dichlorobenzene solid - solution nanoparticles, the change in molecular diffusion behavior and its mechanism. Specifically, the author studied the accelerated diffusion phenomenon of p - dichlorobenzene molecules in p - dibromobenzene nanoparticles at room temperature and explored the reasons for this accelerated diffusion. ### Research Background and Problem Statement 1. **Diffusion in Molecular Organic Crystals**: - In molecular organic crystals, diffusion is usually very slow. - Due to the potential of nanocrystals in practical applications, it becomes crucial to understand the diffusion behavior in these nanocrystals. - The migration of molecules can change the physical properties of materials, thereby affecting their practical application performance. 2. **Experimental Purposes**: - To study the diffusion behavior of p - dichlorobenzene molecules in p - dibromobenzene nanoparticles (with a size of about 300 nm). - To analyze the changes in the nanoparticle structure by Raman spectroscopy to determine the type of solid - solution formed during the diffusion process. ### Experimental Methods - **Synthesis and Preparation**: - A p - dichlorobenzene thin film with a thickness of about 300 nm was prepared on a cooled glass substrate. - p - dibromobenzene nanoparticles were sprayed onto this thin film. - Since the melting point of p - dichlorobenzene (560 K) is lower than that of p - dibromobenzene (86.8 K), p - dichlorobenzene evaporates faster, and finally p - dibromobenzene nanoparticles encapsulating p - dichlorobenzene molecules are formed. - **Characterization and Measurement**: - The morphology of nanoparticles was observed using an electron microscope (Figure 1). - The structural changes of nanoparticles were analyzed using Raman spectroscopy (Figure 2 and Figure 3). ### Main Findings 1. **Accelerated Diffusion Phenomenon**: - At room temperature, the diffusion constant of p - dichlorobenzene molecules in p - dibromobenzene nanoparticles is \( D = 1.3 \pm 0.02\times 10^{-11}\, \text{cm}^2/\text{s} \). - This is an order of magnitude higher than the diffusion constant in single crystals \( D = 1.746\pm 0.02\times 10^{-12}\, \text{cm}^2/\text{s} \). 2. **Diffusion Mechanism**: - The reason for the accelerated diffusion is that the lattice parameter is enlarged due to the decrease in nanoparticle size. - Simulation calculations show that when the solid - solution lattice is enlarged along certain axial directions, the theoretical value of the diffusion constant is in good agreement with the experimental value. ### Conclusion Through experiments and theoretical calculations, the author has proved that in p - dibromobenzene / p - dichlorobenzene solid - solution nanoparticles, due to the enlargement of lattice parameters, the molecular diffusion rate is significantly increased. This finding is of great significance for understanding the molecular diffusion behavior at the nanoscale and provides a theoretical basis for designing new nanomaterials.
